chances are you've thought about the nearby hotel options in case your travel plans go awry while at this busy hub
Although it's never great to get stranded abroad at an airport
the good news is that there are four convenient lodging options within walking distance of the airport's Terminal 1
from which Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners
but we wondered how they stacked up against each other
we spent a night hotel hopping among the four of them
Here's who each of these four hotels will be best for — and what you can expect at each one
our take on Marriott Bonvoy's conjoined hotels just across from the airport's Terminal 1
Previous slideNext slide1 of 6(Photo by Mimi Wright/The Points Guy)012345Best for: Tired travelers willing to spend more for a cushy stay without a long journey between Terminal 1 and a bed
Simply take an escalator up from the departures level
walk across an enclosed pedestrian bridge and make a right into the shared entrance of the Marriott and the Sheraton
then veer off to the left toward the Marriott's lobby
The price point: At 170 euros ($173) for a one-night Deluxe King room stay in the first week of June
Award nights through Marriott's Bonvoy loyalty program will cost 31,000-41,000 points apiece depending on the date
The vibe: The lobby was beautiful and had a chic and classy vibe compared to the hectic hallways of Frankfurt Airport
leather and wood materials presented a comfy — and somewhat sexy — respite from the hustle and bustle of travel
The sitting area looked like the living room of a well-off Manhattanite who had just a little bit too much money to spend on furniture
The dining area felt fresh and even worthy of an Instagram post thanks to the sophisticated contrast of the green leather seating and the yellow glassware
the brass fixtures and the airiness of the skylit space
Just beware the mid-morning rush when large groups of travelers tend to clog the area waiting to check out
It truly felt like a little haven away from the chaos of travel
Though the hotel shares some common public areas with the Sheraton around the corner
it still felt individualistic and approachable
and the staff was accommodating enough to enable an early check-in
The rooms: The decor was straightforward but with little quirks
like quotes by Goethe (a Frankfurt native) on the walls
and the industrial nature of the design felt like a deliberate allusion to the nearby airport
A decent-size desk was excellent for getting some work done during a layover and the in-room Krups espresso machine with complimentary coffee pods and accompaniments can be a jetlag-busting lifesaver
The gray-tiled bathroom lay somewhere between institutional and oasis-like with a basin-style sink
a backlit vanity and half-glassed-in shower whose steady water pressure made sudsing up with the provided thisworks products a refreshing experience
Previous slideNext slide1 of 8(Photo by Mimi Wright/The Points Guy)01234567Drinking and dining: The hotel's public amenities
many of which are shared with the adjacent Sheraton
providing a nice respite from the crowds circulating throughout the busy airport
which connects the Marriott with the Sheraton
is open for lunch and dinner and is centered around a bright atrium with plenty of counter and restaurant-style seating to either side of the central bar
At one end there was a Starbucks outlet for caffeine on the go
though the restaurant serves food and drinks throughout the day and evening
including fresh items like Caesar salad with grilled chicken ($26)
pan-fried hake with Dijon sauce ($31) and a Marriott signature burger ($25)
Guests can partake of breakfast at the Sheraton
though expect a hefty bill of 32 euros ($33) per person if you don't get free breakfast through elite status
Previous slideNext slide1 of 9(Photo by Mimi Wright/The Points Guy)012345678Overall: The lobby was chic
the service was spot on and the food options were varied and fresh
especially after a decent amount of travel and eating on the go
The room decor was more playful than you might expect
and though the hotel was more expensive than the Sheraton
Previous slideNext slide1 of 3(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)012Best for: More budget-minded Bonvoy loyalists looking for a better-priced but just as convenient option as the Marriott
Location: You can access the hotel from Terminal 1 the same way you get to the Marriott
only head right instead of left to get to its lobby
The price point: We paid 149 euros ($152) for a one-night stay in early June in a standard king room
though that might be the summer rush.) Points redemptions range from 22,000 to 30,000 points per night for a standard room in the next few months
Previous slideNext slide1 of 5(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)01234The vibe: Despite a new and attractive lobby
this large hotel — it was originally 1,008 rooms before the Marriott was carved out of it in 2020 — has guestrooms and hallways that are drab (but certainly functional)
The maze of corridors were dimly lit and spartan
with the exception of room number signs featuring an airplane motif — an obvious reminder that yes
a fitness center and a restaurant with the Marriott
It's an example of some brand synergy in the Marriott portfolio that was made possible by the company's 2016 acquisition of Starwood — of which Sheraton was a part
Previous slideNext slide1 of 9(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)012345678The rooms: Standard rooms live up to that categorization
measuring approximately 291 square feet with standard
if quickly aging accouterments like king-size beds with blonde wood frames
woven fabric headboards and well-worn white linens
Business travelers can get some work done at awkwardly placed (yet well-powered) elliptical wooden desks and stay ahead of jetlag thanks to the provided tea and coffee supplies (no espresso machines here)
The wall-mounted televisions have streaming capabilities
the almost clinical (and glaringly lit) bathrooms wouldn't look out of place in a hospital ward and have hard-to-navigate shower-tub combos
though the (somewhat confusing) mix of Le Grand Bain and Acca Kappa bath products are an overall plus
Dining and drinking: The Sheraton shares a lobby with the Marriott
Its signature burger is a sizzling patty placed on a tasty sourdough roll with a bowl of crispy fries
the berry tarte flambee ($14) looks more like a berry-topped pizza than the Alsatian delight it's meant to be
Previous slideNext slide1 of 3(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)012Overall: The Sheraton tends to be priced much lower than the Marriott -- often 100 euros ($101) less per night -- but shares the same location and amenities
we checked into Hilton's sibling properties at the Squaire
spaceship-like office building with a few shops and restaurants that is connected to the airport and its train station via an indoor walkway
Previous slideNext slide1 of 6(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)012345Best for: Hilton Honors members who don't mind spending 10 more minutes walking to the airport along with spending a few extra euros on a slightly elevated hotel experience
Location: The Hilton Frankfurt Airport is located in the architecturally singular Squaire
which itself is built on top of the Frankfurt Airport's long-distance train station
It's about a 10-minute walk from Terminal 1
and about a five-minute walk past the entrance to the Marriott and Sheraton via the enclosed pedestrian bridge that connects the airport and the train station
There are a few more escalators and turns to navigate
but great signage makes it easy to get between the hotel and airport
A Burger King and Starbucks are located right outside the hotel entrance
with a Rossmann drugstore nearby for purchasing any needed travel essentials
The price point: Rates in early June were 161 euros ($164) for a one-night stay in a standard queen room
(Cash rates are now considerably higher.) At check-in
an upgrade to a standard king room was offered for just 5 euros ($5.09)
This hotel participates in the Hilton Honors program with award stays that range from 32,000 to 70,000 points per night for a standard room in the coming months
The vibe: The architecturally interesting lobby almost feels like something out of a futuristic science fiction movie. It's also a bit sterile: The airy, open space could use a bit more furniture and lacked much seating. The lobby bar was closed during our stay in early June and was only used for a few hours each evening to host the hotel's evening reception for elite Hilton Honors members
Re-opening that bar might work wonders for livening up the lobby
this hotel never felt particularly crowded
despite being located so close to one of Europe's busiest airports
One big downside to the design is that the stunning
glass-enclosed lobby isn't air conditioned which creates a greenhouse effect — making it very hot in the late spring afternoon sun
Previous slideNext slide1 of 12(Photo by Ethan Klapper/The Points Guy)01234567891011The rooms: Rooms are bright and large
with neutral-toned woods and upholstery — though the boldly patterned carpeting and bright red
modernistic wingback chairs provide a little character
The large glass desks feel outdated at this point
Bathrooms are spacious and include both a soaking tub with tiled backsplash and a separate walk-in shower stocked with fragrant Crabtree & Evelyn products
well-stocked minibars and easy-to-use hot water kettles with instant coffee complete the business traveler's trifecta of in-room amenities
My exterior-facing room had a view of the autobahn and
Overall: Aside from its singular setting, there's not much to distinguish the Hilton Frankfurt Airport from a Hilton anywhere else in the world. The decor is somewhat bland and the in-room amenities are fine, if unremarkable. That said, this could be a decent use of points when room rates soar during busy times of year, and a bargain at other times.
Previous slideNext slide1 of 5(Photo by Mimi Wright/The Points Guy)01234Best for: Thrifty travelers who want to earn or burn Hilton points at an affordable rate.
Location: Follow the directions above for Hilton Frankfurt Airport, but turn left immediately before entering the lobby of the Hilton.
The vibe: Small and stark, the lobby had a few squared-off sofas for lounging by the no-nonsense check-in desks, but did not feel like a place to hang out. The hotel does deserve a plus for glass elevators that whisk you up to guest rooms through the central atrium.
Previous slideNext slide1 of 4(Photo by Mimi Wright/The Points Guy)0123Overall: If you just need a quick rest before or between flights and don't care about other amenities, the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfut Airport is just fine. However, if you're going to spend any time in your room or want a convenient on-site restaurant (without having to venture out into the Squaire), then you'll probably be better off at the Hilton.
If you're traveling through Frankfurt Airport, you certainly have some solid hotel options in case you get stuck there unexpectedly.
The Frankfurt Airport Marriott has an unbeatable location and is the newest of the hotels; a beautiful, spotless property with a thoughtful design.
The Hilton Frankfurt Airport is a farther walk from the terminal, but also a winner, with nice-enough design and highly functional rooms. Food and beverage options at this property are pricey and limited, but many other options abound just outside the front door.
The third full-service property, the Sheraton Frankfurt Airport Hotel & Conference Center, is co-located with the Marriott and also is very convenient, though its dark, dated design and sterile bathrooms leave a bit to be desired.
Finally, budget-conscious travelers should be satisfied with the Hilton Garden Inn Frankfurt Airport, which is at a lower price point than its full-service neighbors but does not sacrifice the convenience.
If you end up staying at one of these properties, we sure hope you're there willingly and not because an airline meltdown sent you there. But in any case, we're glad to report that you shouldn't have a problem enjoying a decent stay at any of them.

“Frankfurt Oder/Slubice – no borders.” Slubice is the Polish town across the fast-flowing Oder river that marks the beginning of German Federal Republic
a bridge connects these two European nations
A single-file line of cars waits patiently to enter from Poland
some carrying machine guns and adorned in high-viz vests
wave cars through or pull over the ones they deem suspicious
“It’s daily business here that people don’t meet the entry requirements for Germany and perhaps even for the Schengen area and then have to be subjected to further police measures,” Tom Knie
a youthful-looking police officer says in between checks
referring to the passport-free travel zone within the European Union
These are now the new realities on all of Germany’s land borders
Berlin ordered the “temporary reintroduction of border control” at Germany’s borders with Belgium
The move extends the controls already in place at the borders with Poland
the Czech Republic and Switzerland that have been in operation since October
The reason for the reintroduction of these checks lies largely in German domestic issues
but each compounding pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his governing coalition
the most severe of which is coming from Germany’s burgeoning and increasingly confident far right
But they also mark the end of an era of Germany’s liberal migration policy – Wilkommenskultur
or “welcome culture” – initiated by Scholz’s predecessor Angela Merkel in 2015 and raise questions over the viability of the entire Schengen zone
As if a reminder of the importance the surging Alternative for Germany (AfD) party places in securing Germany’s border
pinned to the lamp posts along the road into Frankfurt/Oder are their campaign posters
swoops over a bin which contains a traffic light – the symbol of the coalition government here
known as the “traffic light coalition” – and more insidiously
A spate of terror attacks ahead of key state elections in right-wing leaning regions thrust the issue of migration front and center of the recent votes
a 25-year-old Afghan man killed a police officer in Manheim
and weeks later a 26-year-old Syrian man killed three people in knife attacks in Solingen
Both incidents were capitalized on by the AfD
One of the party’s most controversial figures, Bjoern Hoecke, called on X for an “end to this misguided path of forced multiculturalism.”
In early September
the AfD became the first far-right party since the Nazi era to win outright a state election
The AfD has long campaigned on a ticket that is largely anti-immigration
has said in the past that Germany had become “a country without borders
where anyone can come in and we do nothing about it.”
has found a way to gnaw at Scholz’s support and has ultimately forced the chancellor to act
Speaking in the Bundestag ahead of the border restrictions
Scholz said “we’re doing this although it will be difficult with our neighbors… I think we have to get through this
It is now necessary for us to endure this dispute.”
a researcher at the German Institute of International and Security Affairs
told CNN that caving to the calls from right-wing populists is not going to win elections
He said “mainstream parties cannot ignore that there is a public sentiment that migration has to be brought more under control
but to really start adopting positions that the AfD was taking on
There is potential for more misery to be heaped on Scholz and his government this weekend
as Brandenburg also goes to the polls to elect its regional leaders
Current forecasts put the AfD on course for 28.4% of the vote
The outcome could easily spell more trouble for Scholz and a further weakening of his coalition
and increase the calls for new federal elections sooner than next September
The calls for more checks on Germany’s borders also mark a step-change at the heart of the European Union from Merkel’s policies
and ever popular former German chancellor Merkel opened Germany’s borders to migrants fleeing their homes – at the time largely Syrians because of the country’s civil war
Migration data from the German government shows that 13.7 million non-German migrants entered from 2015-2023
In the same period before 2015 that number was just 5.8 million
The moves by Merkel became known as Wilkommenskulturand and set Germany apart on the world stage in liberal migration policy
the founding chairman of the European Stability Initiative think tank
told CNN that “Germany has been a pillar of the European and global refugee system” but now he sees the current German government “sleepwalking into a trap.”
He said the promise to control irregular migration at the border won’t be possible but instead “will raise expectations that will lead to demands to really build fences
is “faced with the demand to regularize and control movement
[and] the government accepts the legitimacy of the demand [by the far-right] but then doesn’t have a policy that will work.”
the prospect of the change in German policy raises another specter
“If you promise to control an emotional issue like migration and what you propose doesn’t work
not only are you not going to achieve your objective
you’re setting yourself up for a failure that will be exploited by those prepared to go much

is on a mission to raise its profile as a 'gateway to the East'
Not to be confused with major German city Frankfurt am Main seven hours westward
Frankfurt (Oder) is so named thanks to its geographic position on the Oder River
which serves as a natural border between Germany and Poland to the east
its seat next to Polish city Słubice and proximity to the capital Berlin – one hour away by train - makes it well positioned to attract business.

The best of both worlds: lord mayor lauds benefits of Frankfurt (Oder) location
Twin benefits: why Frankfurt (Oder) and Slubice's co-operation is paying off
Frankfurt (Oder) is located directly on the east-west transport route of the North Sea-Baltic Corridor
a pivotal part of the Trans-European Transport Networks
It is at the interface of two major national markets
with easy access to the emerging markets of eastern Europe
The city also benefits from the human capital in Berlin
from which more than 1000 workers commute into Frankfurt (Oder) every day
more than 13,000 people commute into the city to work each day
Berlin Schoenefeld airport is located a 45-minute drive away.
Frankfurt (Oder) has struggled to grow
With a peak population of about 87,000 in 1989
resident numbers have steadily fallen to nearly 57,000 today as a result of the massive demographic shift that came with the opening of what was East Germany to the rest of the world
mass migration to Berlin and the old West Germany – as well as unemployment
which stands at 10.2% in Frankfurt (Oder) today – has thinned out regional human capital
according to research from the Free University of Berlin
Frankfurt (Oder)’s pitch as a logistics and research destination at the centre of Europe is strengthened by its highly specialised technology facilities
It was recognised in fDi Magazine’s 2016/17 German Cities of the Future ranking for cost effectiveness
largely due to its significantly lower worker and rent costs than Berlin
as well as the highest subsidy levels in Germany – up to 40% grants for investments
eastern German labour costs are on average 33.4% cheaper than in western Germany
Its twin-cities initiative with next-door Słubice is one of many steps it has taken to present an attractive investment destination to foreign businesses
This means a broader and more affordable workforce equipped with multiple languages
The Frankfurt (Oder)-Słubice Co-operation Centre
calls the crossborder city “a trailblazer of the European ideal.”
In addition to the logistical and linguistic advantages of being a border city
the position offers both Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice mutually beneficial infrastructure
The cities share a joint district heating system and waste water treatment plant in Słubice that serves both towns
Słubice residents gain from their relative proximity to Berlin – trains to Berlin depart Frankfurt (Oder) every 30 minutes
and the Polish town is a mere 15-minute drive from Frankfurt (Oder)’s city centre
More than 1000 people use the crossborder bus service
which links the two cities’ town centres as well as their universities
About 200 Polish companies operate in Frankfurt (Oder)
the largest being cargo terminal operator PCC Intermodal
which has engaged in a public-private investment of more than €10m into the terminal in the city’s Freight Village
the terminal helps transport 60,000 containers of cargo yearly from the region to Europe’s main ports
says: “We’ve been in Frankfurt (Oder) for more than 10 years
The city is at the centre of all our operations and the administration supports us very well in marketing
We are quite satisfied to be here; it’s really a great place for our network
so we took over this terminal and we’ll be here for the next 25 years.”

Central to the life of Frankfurt (Oder)’s scientific community is the Leibniz Institute for Innovations for High Performance Microelectronics
With more than 300 employees from 23 countries
it is a buzzing centre of R&D for systems design
“The focus of research at the institute lies in economically relevant issues
resulting in applications for telecommunications
and automation technologies,” says IHP scientific director Bernd Tillack.
IHP has numerous partnerships with international science and technology firms
The institute was recently won an award for its apprenticeships for young people
and runs collaborations with local kindergartens in Frankfurt (Oder) to foster youth enthusiasm for science
One budding company with a vested connection to IHP is Silicon Radar
a Frankfurt (Oder) start-up developing radar sensors for applications in industry
The company’s founder was a researcher at IHP
and now uses the knowledge base to fuel its work
says: “We have co-operation contracts in place to use IHP’s equipment
and it is one of our most important customers and our most important supplier.”
Frankfurt (Oder)’s largest foreign investor is Chinese energy giant Chint Group
which purchased the assets of a former German photovoltaics company for €6m after it went into insolvency in 2013
The company now trades under the name of Chint Group’s subsidiary
and produces solar modules for the European market
Astronergy has 3000 employees in seven solar module production facilities worldwide
and its European base in Frankfurt (Oder) employs 250 people.
the city administration and the state of Brandenburg have been very supportive
especially during the M&A process,” says Dietmar Gutzmer
director of business administration at Astronergy Solarmodule

A particularly interesting spot for growing companies is the publicly owned TeGeCe technology park
which houses more than 50 national and international companies and more than 3000 employees
TeGeCe enables SMEs to start local production by leasing facilities at affordable costs
from 20-square-metre rental offices to multi-level factory buildings
The park has 80,000 square metres of space for commercial and industrial use
and offers facility refurbishing specific to companies’ needs
including electrical component manufacturing from the likes of Japanese company Yamaichi and Germany’s ChipCard Solutions
Its companies also work in civil engineering
warehouses (such as local start-up AsGoodAsNew Electronics) and Belgian plastic production company New Product Packlab (NPP).
NPP began operations in 2014 and by 2015 had achieved a turnover of €5m
with sales facilities in Belgium and production in Frankfurt (Oder)
“The investment climate in this region is very positive – a lot of effort has been made to attract FDI,” says NPP’s finance director
“The investor centre has helped us tremendously
We try to be a world player and we feel that Frankfurt (Oder) is at the centre of Europe.” NPP exports 90% of its production internationally.
One of Frankfurt (Oder)’s gems is the European University of Viadrina
It stands on the site of the former Brandenburg University Frankfurt
which was originally founded in 1506 but has been closed for centuries
the university embodies Frankfurt (Oder)’s international ideals with a student body of 6500 representing 95 countries
It has a robust research and foreign exchange programme through partnerships with 263 universities worldwide and offers courses in multiple languages
It also works in collaboration with neighbouring Słubice’s Collegium Polonicum
which specialises in German-Polish studies and international law
Viadrina was recently ranked among Germany’s top six universities for business administration
The university’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Research provides support for start-up development and aspiring entrepreneurs
helping would-be entrepreneurs stay in the city beyond graduation
A scenic riverside dotted by the architectural gems that survived the Second World War’s bombings
Frankfurt (Oder) provides a quiet and idyllic setting for families and students
“You have a small town welcome and a very active cultural scene,” says Frankfurt (Oder) mayor Martin Wilke
singing academies and natural surroundings
the city is home to the Brandenburg State Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder)
which has performed all over the world since its founding in the mid-19th century
the orchestra sponsors educational projects and youth arts initiatives.
“Here you have a smaller city; it’s less crowded and more relaxed,” adds Mr Wilke
Capitalising on crossborder co-operation and attractive incentives for companies and entrepreneurs
Frankfurt (Oder) is bolstering its reputation as an open
international city with room to grow.

England's Euro 2024 group fixture against Denmark is being played under a closed roof due to bad weather conditions
UEFA were wary of the weather conditions ahead of the Group C clash, which is live on talkSPORT
The roof of the Waldstadion was shut on Wednesday ahead of Denmark's players' training session in the evening
With bad weather already having plagued Euro 2024
UEFA anticipated similar conditions on Thursday
The roof was then not reopened for the match as a 'precautionary measure'
it seems to have caused some humidity in the stadium and that has started to affect the pitch
“There were concerns ahead of this game that the pitch had a tendency of tearing up. There are already a few pockmarks across the surface.
“Hopefully this won’t be a running theme of this game. Kyle Walker has already lost his footing on a few occasions.”
A severe weather warning was issued across the western and central regions of Germany on Wednesday.
Dusseldorf and Gelsenkirchen were all closed due to the harsh conditions
Cologne also acted in accordance with the weather
as organisers released a statement explaining their actions
It read: "Due to an official storm warning from late morning with expected heavy rain
all events and functions of the Host City Cologne associated with the European Championships being cancelled on Wednesday
"The necessary talks with the security partners were already held yesterday evening and the preparatory measures to secure the venues were initiated
The decision to cancel all events was made on Tuesday morning after further consultation with the German Weather Service."
Meteorologist Dominik Jung told German outlet BILD there had even been a potential 'risk to life' and that the closures were necessary to protect against every eventuality
"There is a risk to life," he advised, speaking ahead of the fixtures that took place two days before England's clash
"We don't currently know every place that could get hit
but we do know the region where something could happen
"People will complain again: 'We didn't have anything.' But better safe than sorry."

- Photo: LotseAfrican Swine Fever (ASF) will indirectly lead to the depopulation of an organic swine farm in Germany
The farm with outdoor animals is located too close to current finds and all animals need to be culled
It is one of the first German farms reported about that will have to cull pigs due to ASF. In a feature by the local news channel RBB
swine producer Michael Staar explains that his farm with a special breed of pigs will have to be depopulated before March 12
because the location is exactly adjacent to a high risk zone for ASF
which has been found in wild boar in various areas next to the border with Poland
The German veterinary authorities aim to avoid the risk of infection
as birds could drop infected pieces of carcass into the area
Staar keeps German Saddleback pigs and about 7 people are dependent on the pigs for their living
The report explains how free range pig keeping would be an incalculable risk for conventional swine farming
A court case has been filed against the federal decision
a new district reported a positive case of ASF: the 1st case was found in the Frankfurt an der Oder district
which is a border town adjacent to the Polish border
a permanent fence has been erected parallel to the Oder border river
The animal was found between the shore and the fence
Brandenburg state minister for consumer protection
I’m glad that the protective fence is obviously working
because the animal was found in front of the fence on the Oder river side
But the new find also shows how strong the epidemic pressure from Poland continues to be
The primary goal is to determine whether the epidemic is limited to the region east of the wild boar barrier.”
The total amount of infected wild boar in Germany is now 776
719 in Brandenburg state and another 57 in Saxony state

The Chinese manufacturer first announced plans to close its manufacturing facility in Frankfurt (Oder) at the beginning of this year
About 40 people who worked at the factory will now shift over to a transfer company
Chinese module manufacturer Astronergy has closed its panel factory in Frankfurt (Oder), as part of a plan it initially announced in January
acquired the facility from German module supplier Conergy in 2014
“With the swift agreement to discontinue production
the Frankfurt/Oder location is now focusing on reorganization as an important sales and service center in the region,” an Astronergy spokeswoman told pv magazine
about 180 employees will have now to leave the company
the spokeswoman said that “about 40 employees will join a transfer company” from April 1
“Astronergy's German office will focus on sales
customs clearance and other business-related services for European and global customers,” she explained
The company will start with around 20 employees to handle product management
process orders and provide technical services
the company plans to supply its European customers with modules from other locations
Managing Director Paul Xinhua Ji attributed the closure of production in Brandenburg to the market situation
“All warranties and warranties for the customers of Astronergy Solar Modules GmbH will continue to apply,” the company said at the time
after the expiry of minimum import prices in the EU
the PV manufacturer was forced to register short-time work for its employees

Eintracht Frankfurt vs Bochum preview: Winless Bochum travel to Champions League hopefuls | OneFootballBulinews
Fares Chabi for Eintracht Frankfurt
Eintracht advanced to the DFB-Pokal's third round after securing a 2-1 victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday
despite losing Arthur Theate to a red card in the 15th minute
Theate had also seen red in the 77th minute of Frankfurt's 1-1 league draw with Union Berlin on October 27
the Eagles managed to hold Union to a single shot following his dismissal
recording two draws and one loss in their last three games
manager Dino Toppmöller may merit some understanding
as his side faced tough opponents in Bayern München
and fourth-placed Union Berlin during this stretch
Frankfurt’s 16 goals have made them the Bundesliga’s fourth-highest scoring team
while their 12 conceded goals rank them as the seventh strongest defensively
Though Frankfurt have kept only one clean sheet in their last 15 league games
they won four consecutive Bundesliga matches before their recent three-game winless streak
It's also worth mentioning that Frankfurt has been tough to beat at Deutsche Bank Park
losing just one of their last 14 home games
with seven wins and six draws in that span
Frankfurt will be missing centre-back Arthur Theate and right-back Rasmus Kristensen
and Aurele Amenda will line up in a back three ahead of goalkeeper Kevin Trapp
With midfielder Oscar Hojlund sidelined until late December
Toppmoller may opt for a double pivot with Ellyes Skhiri and Hugo Larsson anchoring the midfield
Omar Marmoush is expected to start in the forward line
likely alongside Mario Götze and Hugo Ekitike
Bochum enter Saturday’s match off a tough 5-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on October 27
a game in which Bayern dominated with 72% possession
Interim managers Markus Feldhoff and Murat Ural were at the helm against Bayern following the dismissal of Peter Zeidler
who was let go after a 3-1 loss to Hoffenheim on October 19
with only seven goals scored and 22 conceded
ranking them as the league's second-worst in both offence and defence
Already sitting seven points below the safety-line
Bochum face a steep challenge to close the gap
which includes nine losses and a draw in their last ten games
Their away record paints a difficult picture as well: Bochum have lost 28
and won just four of their last 39 Bundesliga away games and currently is on a five-game losing streak away from home across all competitions
Goalkeeper Manuel Riemann is unavailable due to an internal suspension
and defender Bernardo is out until late November
Patrick Drewes is expected to step in as goalkeeper
and Jakov Medic likely forming a back three
the visitors will miss striker Myron Boadu and midfielder Matus Bero
so Moritz Broschinski and Dani de Wit are set to lead the attack
and Anthony Losilla could feature in central midfield

FootballEuropa Leagueo-dear Benfica fan travels to the WRONG Frankfurt ahead of Europa League clashOne unfortunate supporter has travelled to Frankfurt (Oder)
which is more than 600 kilometres away from Frankfurt (Main) - where Benfica play the Eintracht tonight
A Benfica supporter has ended up in the wrong Frankfurt ahead of his team's Europa League clash at the Commerzbank-Arena on Thursday night.
Alvaro Oliveira, who made the 28-hour car journey from Lisbon, went to Frankfurt (Oder), rather than Frankfurt (Main) where the Eintracht actually play.
More than 600 kilometres separate the two German cities and, according to Google, it would take Alvaro almost six hours to get to the ground from his current location.
The trip, which included a stop-off in Paris on Wednesday, would've seen the fan drive past the main Frankfurt.
Eagle-eyed Instagram users were quick to notice the mistake after picking up on a series of road signs in the travelling fan's 'story'.
Frankfurt themselves joined in the fun, commenting 'Ui' on one of his posts, which translates to 'hi' in Portuguese.
The die-hard supporter realised his error after it went viral on social media, posting an update captioned 'We're f*cked' in Portuguese.
will have no complaints with where they are following their 4-2 victory over Frankfurt in the quarter-final first leg
Here's what's coming up on talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2..
Joao Felix scored a memorable hat-trick in Lisbon as the Portuguese club took a commanding advantage into tonight's return encounter
Whoever progresses to the semi-finals will meet Chelsea or Slavia Prague in the next round, with the Blues currently 1-0 up after the first leg
