Will Pini Zahavi try to negotiation more with Bayern Munich
According to a report from Sport1 journalist Stefan Kumberger (as captured by @iMiaSanMia) Bayern Munich was left stunned by Leroy Sané in changing representation just before a deal was — allegedly — within reach:
Leroy Sané surprised Bayern bosses with his decision to switch to Pini Zahavi’s agency
Max Eberl was confident that only the signature was still missing to extend the contract
Bayern are by no means prepared to improve their offer
they already made a big effort to keep Sané with their latest offer
Sané’s departure this summer is now a possibility
The winger is said to be open to a return to England
It might be nothing for the Bavarians to worry about
but it could also be a sign that Sané does
want to rethink the contract that he was offered by Bayern Munich
The winger will have to weigh things heavily as this will be the last big contract of his career
Maybe a better pathway to endorsements and off-the-field revenue
but most footballers do not bring in Zahavi to stand pat with contract offers
At different points, Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC were among clubs linked to Sané

Will Pini Zahavi ask Bayern Munich for a better offer
Leroy Sané hiring Pini Zahavi during the final stages of his contract negotiations with Bayern Munich seemed to throw club executives for a loop
but CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and president Herbert Hainer appear to be okay with rolling with the punches...at least for now
“Leroy is having a good season. Zahavi is an experienced agent, not always easy to negotiate with. But that’s just how it is. We’ll see how it goes. Max Eberl is doing an excellent job with Christoph Freund,” Dreesen told Abendzeitung’s Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia)
We’ve usually almost always reached an agreement with Zahavi
Leroy has said often enough that he wants to stay,” Hainer said
Zahavi definitely will shake things up, but it remains to be seen to what extent. Sané has been linked to Arsenal FC and Liverpool FC

Harry Kane has long been hit with criticism - that he had never won a trophy with club or country
only talk about the fact I haven't won a title yet," the England captain said recently
as Bayern Munich's Bundesliga crown began to look more inevitable
"It would be nice to silence a few of them."
Kane even saw the irony in the fact his 15-year wait for a senior trophy might end while he watched on from the stands as Bayern faced RB Leipzig on Saturday
having been handed a one-game suspension following his fifth yellow card of the season last week
"It's kind of my story that I'll miss the Leipzig game," said the 31-year-old
I'll celebrate more than anyone else."
Kane even made his way to the touchline ready to join the party until a stoppage-time Leipzig leveller meant the wait was delayed by a day when second-placed Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 at Freiburg on Sunday
That saw Vincent Kompany's side secure the German title
and means Kane has finally put to rest the notion that a glittering individual career may finish without any silverware
The striker had been following the Leverkusen game with fellow England international Eric Dier and the rest of their Bayern team-mates
and posted a video on social media of them singing "we are the champions" after the title was confirmed
and what a celebration with the players and staff," Kane said in a video posted to his social media channels
"I'm sure everyone is feeling it a little bit this morning
It just feels sweet to win the title and the first one of my career
"I appreciate all the support as always
it never goes unnoticed and I can't wait to enjoy these next couple of weeks
I can't wait to be at Allianz Arena on Saturday to celebrate in front of the fans."
"I'm thrilled for him because he deserves it so much," former Bayern Munich and Tottenham Hotspur striker Jurgen Klinsmann told BBC Sport
"He has proven it throughout the last 10 years
His numbers are absolutely insane and he will do that for another couple of years because he's in top shape still
Harry Kane's debut ended in defeat by RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup
Kane's career has not followed the trajectory one might expect for England's all-time record goalscorer
according to former youth coach Alex Inglethorpe
he "wasn't even on the podium" when it came to the age-group's top talents
He was still a youth player the last time Spurs won a trophy
but earned his breakthrough with the first-team squad and signed his first professional deal in July 2010
Then there were hard-grafting loan spells with Leyton Orient in League One and in the Championship with Millwall and Leicester
as well as with Norwich in the Premier League
Once Kane established himself at White Hart Lane
he blossomed into Spurs' best homegrown player of a generation
becoming the club's all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 435 games and climbing to second in the Premier League ranks with 213
a decade in lilywhite yielded only a series of near-misses - a Champions League final defeat by Liverpool
twice runners-up in the League Cup and beaten to the title in successive seasons by Leicester and Chelsea
as they were runners-up at the past two European Championships and beaten in the 2018 World Cup semi-final by Croatia
despite Kane winning the Golden Boot in Russia seven years ago and finishing as joint top-scorer at last summer's Euros
"I always said that if Harry leaves Spurs
he will get the opportunity to win titles," added Klinsmann
who also won his only league championship after leaving Tottenham for Bayern in 1995
trophies seemed like a foregone conclusion when Kane joined Bayern for an initial 100m euros (£86.4m) in August 2023 - a club who had won 11 successive Bundesliga titles before his arrival
Kane even had a shot at silverware on his debut
but Bayern lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup at Allianz Arena with the England captain coming off the bench for the final half hour
When Bayern were then knocked out of the German Cup by third-tier Saarbrucken
Leverkusen ran away with the league as Bayern finished third
while Thomas Tuchel's side were beaten by eventual winners Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals
"People made bad jokes about him," explained Taufig Khalil
"Bayern Munich won the German championship 11 years in a row
Harry Kane came for 100m-plus and the next season Bayern Munich did not win a single trophy
He came to Munich because he knew this is the club where you can win trophies
And then he came and it was a very bad season last year."
Harry Kane enjoys Munich's Oktoberfest
Kane never wavered in his desire to keep improving after becoming the Bundesliga's record signing
He spoke recently about studying the game's greats and having the drive to consistently be one of the world's best
He has dealt with the pressure of essentially replacing Robert Lewandowski
who left in 2022 as Bayern's second all-time scorer behind Gerd Muller
"Bayern Munich has a huge tradition of number nines," explained Klinsmann
"There is always a special eye on them
He knows that he is followed closely by everyone."
And not just in Munich - Khalil said rival fans see it as a privilege to have Kane in Germany: "When the captain of the Three Lions is playing in the Bundesliga - wow
Yet there is no superstar ego on boy from east London
He is regarded as incredibly professional and a leader among the squad - a player a lot of his younger team-mates look up to and someone who is very respectful
whether that be in training or completing the many media and partner obligations that come with representing a European giant like Bayern
"He has a royal approach," added Khalil
If there is a moment he doesn't want to talk in the mixed zone
A lot of other players walk through with headphones on or use the telephone and try not to look in the eyes of the media
He is an absolutely leading person in that club
He gives a lot of that James Bond gratitude - he is the striker with the licence to score!"
Kane has thrown himself into life in Munich
visiting supporters' clubs and taking German lessons
even if he has previously joked his kids will learn the language before him
"What he's done extremely well is adapt to Bavaria with so much ease," said Klinsmann
the city and his family just fit into the way of life there
so it's not too problematic but still
you've got to go to another country and keep your work-rate at the highest level while figuring out that your family are comfortable and having a good time."
Kane quickly struck up a friendship with Bayern's all-time leading appearance-maker Thomas Muller
and is known to play golf with the Germany forward and midfielder Konrad Laimer
he is also good friends with former Spurs team-mate Eric Dier
another player well-liked throughout the squad
with both England internationals regarded as being important to team chemistry at Bayern
"The people love him," added Klinsmann
He focuses on what is important and for him
Eric Dier joined England team-mate Harry Kane at Bayern in January 2024
After six final defeats - three with Spurs
two with England and one with Bayern - the humble yet ruthless goal-getter's perseverance has paid off
Kane's first German title is Bayern Munich's 34th
but there can be no doubting the Englishman's importance to Kompany's side
"It helps when you have a top player who wants to run and fight for the team like a youth player," said the former Manchester City and Belgium captain
"I played against him as an opponent and he has become better with age."
Kane is the division's top scorer with 24 goals and has 36 in all competitions this season
That was a competition in which Bayern were desperate to reach the final at their home stadium in Munich
but Kane missed a big chance in the quarter-final first leg against Inter and
everybody is right to expect me to make that goal
shrugging off critics who suggest Kane does not score in "big games"
Bayern were also knocked out of the German Cup by Leverkusen
but in the Bundesliga - bar a brief wobble in March when they lost at home to lowly Bochum - Kompany's side
His form during this title run is a continuation of what began in his debut season
where he netted 36 times - only Gerd Muller and Lewandowski have scored more in a single Bundesliga campaign
"The team clicks well with the players around him," said Klinsmann
"He plays in a system that he's getting fed by attacking midfielders
"He's extremely important to the Bayern side and he's done a fantastic job from day one."
he became the fastest player to hit 60 goals in the competition
doing so in 60 appearances to break Erling Haaland's record by five games
He also registered 15 assists in that time to average a goal involvement every 72 minutes
he scores an incredible number of goals," added Bayern's honorary president Uli Hoeness
"No-one deserves it more than him."
Harry Kane reached 60 Bundesliga goals in as many games
Khalil believes more trophies will follow for Kane
and Bayern's focus will soon switch to winning the Fifa Club World Cup in the United States this summer
"The moment Bayern Munich went out of the Champions League
they started to talk about the Club World Cup," he said
That could play a role in Kane's future and whether Bayern can afford to add widely linked
target Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen
"Everybody wants him to stay," said Khalil
with Kane's contract running until 2027
would Florian Wirtz together with Jamal Musiala
the two German youngsters playing side by side
work with a central box striker and how much money do you want to spend on Harry Kane for next season
I definitely see him next year in the Bundesliga
They have to find another way to finance Florian Wirtz
"I think we will see Harry Kane for at least another year."

Bayern Munich has all but secured its 34th German championship
the Rekordmeister overcame a 2-0 deficit to draw RB Leipzig 3-3 to all but reclaim the title from Bayer Leverkusen
It is the 12th Bundesliga title in the last 13 years
underscoring Bayern’s dominance over German football
Bayern is now nine points ahead of Leverkusen
who will play against top-four contender SC Freiburg tomorrow
it would take a six-point and 30-goal swing in two games
Everyone who knows a bit of the game knows it is over
today’s result against RB Leipzig was a good metaphor for the Rekordmeister’s season
Benjamin Sesko (11’) and Lukas Klostermann (39’) gave Leipzig a very much deserved 2-0 lead after 45 minutes
Forty-five minutes in which Bayern was dominated and perhaps a bit lucky to be down by just two goals
the camera often cut to English star Harry Kane
who witnessed his team falling apart in front of his eyes
That stretch showed everything that had gone wrong this season and why the club will celebrate just one out of three possible titles
Leipzig cut through Bayern’s defense like it didn’t exist
and Sesko managed to get through Bayern’s defense without any issues
that new head coach Vincent Kompany has done a very good job of repairing at the start of the season
Bayern’s biggest problem this season wasn’t the quality of the backline but rather injuries
the Bayern backline against Leipzig consisted of Konrad Laimer
a goal that would lead to Bayern Munich's comeback after being 2-0 down after ..
More 45 minutes (Photo by RONNY HARTMANN/AFP via Getty Images)
Even though Dier—who like Kane has never won a club title—would be a hero in the second half
the backline consisting of those four isn’t anywhere near the level of a club with Champions League ambitions
The wing-back signed for €30 million ($34 million) from Galatasaray
once again didn’t look like a Bundesliga-level player
managed to turn around the second half in a matter of a few minutes
It all started after Dier scored a header from a corner (62’)
Serge Gnabry overran the Leipzig defense to find Olise
Sané scored his 11th goal of the season to give Bayern the lead
Kane had made his way down to the touchline to prepare for the possible title celebrations
Bayern has all but secured the title and could indeed celebrate from the couch as early as tomorrow
a win or draw against Gladbach will also provide mathematical certainty next week
Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz is now leaning towards a move to Bayern Munich
More Federico Gambarini/picture alliance via Getty Images)
the game today provides Bayern with some important lessons
The injuries to Musiala and an entire backline worth of defenders meant that the Rekordmeister fell short in the Champions League this season
the European campaign must be seen critically
But there is also the fact that Bayern lost their record dominance in the Champions League group stage
the exit against Inter Milan was more than deserved
the Bayern bosses will have to find a viable alternative to Kane
The English striker needs a backup to ensure he is fit to play the big games at the tail end of the season
Bayern is looking to move on from Gnabry and Kingsley Coman and will have to add more attacking players as a result
Signing Wirtz has become more realistic in the last week as his family is leaning toward joining Bayern
and signing Wirtz would make it difficult for Bayern to bring in additional personnel
where the club also needs strengthening as they look to move on from Leon Goretzka
Those are all big questions for the director of sport
and sporting director Christoph Freund to answer
the club will certainly pop one or two bottles of champagne in secret in the dressing room before the big Weißbier celebrations at the Allianz Arena next week
Clubs’ tussle for supremacy in Germany may be at its end as the futures of Alonso and Wirtz remain uncertain
Read moreIt had not quite been the titanic end that anybody had hoped for, with Bayern letting in a 95th-minute Yussuf Poulsen equaliser that stopped them officially sealing it on Saturday
Harry Kane suspended so he couldn’t take part at all and Leverkusen getting a leveller in the fourth minute of stoppage time at Freiburg on Sunday which ended up meaning little to anyone apart from the hosts and their rivals for Champions League qualification
It did, however, epitomise the struggle. There will be some who seek to diminish the achievements of Bayern, of Kane despite winning his first major trophy
of Vincent Kompany in his first season of elite-level head coaching
Xabi Alonso’s Leverkusen have turned the Bundesliga upside down in the last two and a half years
Even the first year of Kane in the Bundesliga wasn’t enough to deny them
It has taken England’s captain being joined by the magnificent Michael Olise
the continued progression of Jamal Musiala (surely now the Bundesliga’s best player) and the unlikely influence of Kompany
evolving the Bayern environment into something slightly more holistic
Seeing Bayern with a worthy opponent for the first time since Jürgen Klopp brought Borussia Dortmund to the top has been exhilarating
that Alonso’s touchline celebration of Jonathan Tah’s equaliser in Freiburg – big smile
clenched fist – might have just said it all
He wasn’t celebrating what it was but what had been
in that incredible last season but in almost every moment since his October 2022 arrival
propelling Die Werkself from the bottom to higher than where they thought the top was
shredding every notion of impossible along the way
Tah’s flicked header was a reminder of all those late comebacks
the improbable result-from-the-jaws-of-defeat moments that stacked up last season and even
Yet removed from any sort of real sporting meaning for the team it felt like a tribute
a nod to what coach and players had achieved together which
Alonso is widely expected to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid
with club and coach in Nord Rhine-Westphalia sitting in limbo until the terms and the timings of the Italian’s departure for the Spanish capital are agreed
“Hand on heart,” sighed Granit Xhaka after Sunday’s game
when you know who’s going to be on the sidelines next year
But that shouldn’t be an excuse for the last few weeks.” Xhaka lamented the scratchy form and missed opportunities that have followed Champions League elimination by Bayern
non-mincer of words and Alonso’s authority on the field
couldn’t avoid a sense of finality even as he said that he hoped the coach would stay
“We had him for two years,” said the captain
“Whether we have him for a third year is not my job to say

It is not only Alonso’s future that lies at the heart of the equation but that of Florian Wirtz

After winning over Bayern’s hardcore support
the prolific Engländer has led the charge to the Bundesliga title
Read moreOn the day he signed in August 2023 Munich was balmy
It was the morning of Bayern’s DFL-Supercup game against RB Leipzig and as the thermometers crept above 30C
hot and bothered fans queued outside the multiple Bayern fan shops in the city centre with the aim of getting their hands on one item: the new
white-with-red-trim home jersey with “Kane 9” on the back
multi-lined font of name and number – a throwback to the figures adorning the backs of Bayern’s 1974 European Cup winners – hinted at a new era of glory

Photograph: PA Wire/PANot that any of it was his fault because
Since day one “Herry Kane” (as it is pronounced in Germany) has been a smash hit on and off the field
underlining that it is one thing to see a superstar from a distance and another to have him in your own backyard
appreciating every polished quality and nuance of his game
Thomas Müller was key in Kane’s adaptation
publicly cheerleading for him from the minute Kane arrived at the club’s Säbener Straße training ground and getting him on to the team council of senior players before the new arrival could speak even a few words of German
The numbers have been extraordinary – 44 goals in his debut season including 36 in the Bundesliga
where for a long time he threatened Robert Lewandowski’s season record of 41 from 2020-21
which beat a seemingly unbeatable Gerd Müller milestone that had stood for almost five decades
Kane has added another 36 so far this term
His opener in the victory over St Pauli at the end of March took him to 100 goal involvements (77 goals
Yet the figures don’t fully explain how and why Kane has come to be the subject of such affection at Bayern
It might have been expected that the relationship would be transactional: elite club seeks elite goalscorer
frustrated star seeks superclub to scratch silverware itch

Leroy Sané and Raphaël Guerreiro celebrate during the March win over St Pauli where Kane reached 100 goal involvements
Photograph: Angelika Warmuth/ReutersInstead it has turned out that Bayern and Kane were made for each other; on the pitch
where his relentless goalscoring is matched by his elite passing
feeding Jamal Musiala and the squad’s typically stacked wing talent; and off the pitch
where his good-natured embrace of club tradition (especially at supporter events) sits alongside his innate Englishness
rising above the usual ego-driven squabbles and the airing of dirty linen in public that often characterises life at FC Hollywood
It is not difficult to make the case that whereas Lewandowski was admired at Bayern
You can argue this is partially because the Pole starred for a Bundesliga rival before he arrived
and partly because of the perception he fished for a move to La Liga a good while before the move to Barcelona came to fruition in 2022
It hasn’t all been plain sailing on an individual level. Keeping injury at bay has been a challenge, despite Bayern’s determination to protect their star asset (last season’s shock DFB-Pokal exit to third-tier Saarbrücken
which a bemused-looking Kane watched from the bench as his side missed chance after chance before conceding a late winner
Tuchel was initially criticised for taking off Kane in the closing stages of the Champions League semi-final second leg at Real Madrid last year with Bayern winning, only for Joselu’s two late goals to suddenly necessitate a rabbit from a hat that his key man was no longer there to provide
It turned out the future England coach was right
with Kane’s back injury badly hampering his displays at Euro 2024
At that point brows began to furrow in Bavaria
Though his performance has been unimpeachable since arriving
paying a Bundesliga record fee of more than €100m for an established star heading into his 30s with a year left on his Tottenham contract was such a cultural break from German football’s norm that a sense of guilt and unease about it has never really gone away
The knowledge that Bayern put all their eggs in the Kane basket means every little knock he takes makes many reconsiderhow safe that investment was
he arguably broke the spirit of Xabi Alonso’s side
ensuring Bayern’s new competitors could not deny them the Bundesliga title as they did last season
A regular spot playing in the Champions League is what he deserved on arriving
but the silverware is what he really wanted
it is what he has got – and he has plenty of time left to celebrate

Bayern Munich clinched their 33rd Bundesliga title on Sunday, and in doing so ended Harry Kane's long wait for the first major trophy of his senior career
Bayern's title win was eventually confirmed on Sunday when second-place Bayer Leverkusen drew 2-2 at Freiburg
meaning they could no longer mathematically better Bayern's 76-point total with two matches remaining
Leverkusen's draw ends Kane's run of playing 694 matches for club and country without having a single trophy to show for his efforts
Kane posted a trophy emoji on a black background on his Instagram stories minutes after Bayern's title win was confirmed and then added another post of him celebrating and singing "We Are the Champions" before being doused with champagne
He then shared a video of him singing Queen's 1977 hit "We Are the Champions."

The perennial German champions relinquished their stranglehold on the competition last season when Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen lifted the Meisterschale and Bayern failed to win a piece of silverware for the first time in a decade
But Vincent Kompany's side have been frontrunners for much of this campaign
Kane's failure to collect a trophy during his storied career had delighted rival fans and fostered talk of a trophy "curse."
The England captain joined Bayern from boyhood club Spurs in 2023 and is on track to become the first player to end his first two Bundesliga seasons as the competition's top scorer
Widely regarded as one of the greatest strikers of his generation
Kane had already won a hatful of individual awards as England's all-time top scorer; he also ranks second on the Premier League's career scoring list
His move to six-time European champions Bayern was all about finally adding trophies to those goal-scoring records

Harry Kane will spend one more season at Bayern Munich before he returns to the Premier League
That's the view of talkSPORT's transfer expert Alex Crook, who believes the striker will want to beat Alan Shearer's all-time goal record
Kane won the first major trophy of his career on Sunday as Bayern were crowned Bundesliga champions
They missed out on the title last season to Bayer Leverkusen
whose 2-2 draw to Freiburg officially the 2024/25 champions
Bayern's success has come in Kane's second campaign at the German giants
during which he has scored 24 Bundesliga goals
The 31-year-old's contract runs until 2027
but talkSPORT's chief football correspondent Crook thinks he could leave a year early
he said: "Arguably the greatest English goalscorer of all-time
"There's been some talk that he's got a release clause that would enable him to come back to the Premier League."
"Do you think he wants to come back?" Sam Matterface asked
and Crook replied: "I think he'll do one more year
"I wrote about this in the notebook last week, he'll do one more year, try and retain the title, try and have another crack at the Champions League.
he'll set his sights on a return to the Premier League and breaking Shearer's goalscoring record."
Kane is believed to have a release clause in his Bayern contract that drops to £54million for an English team in January
The England captain has already made 320 appearances in the Premier League
He sits second in the league's all-time scoring rankings with 213 goals
which is five more than Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney
Kane is still 48 goals away from surpassing the 260 scored by the iconic Shearer for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United
It's a record that's stood since his retirement in 2006
Kane is a three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner and netted at least 17 each season from the 2014/15 campaign onwards
The striker has also reached the 30-mark on two occasions
so it could take him less than two seasons to become the all-time top scorer
That will have to wait though as Kane eyes a third season at Bayern having made a move from Spurs worth in excess of £100m in the summer of 2023
Champions League glory will certainly be desired alongside back-to-back Bundesliga titles
Kane will also likely increase his overall Bayern goal tally that stands at 80 in 89 appearances
The kit is predominantly white but with a red marble-effect detailing throughout
and a red trim around the main body of the shirt
Multiple players from the men's and women's teams have been photographed modelling the new kit

Harry Kane has finally broken his trophy curse and partied until beyond 1am as the champagne flowed for Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga title, marking the first major trophy of Harry Kane’s career
Bayern missed the chance to win the title — a 12th in the last 13 years — on the field on Saturday when Yussuf Poulsen snatched a stoppage-time equaliser for RB Leipzig in a 3-3 draw
But Leverkusen’s failure to beat Freiburg on Sunday means Bayern now have an unassailable eight-point lead at the summit with two games of the season remaining
Leverkusen recovered from 2-0 down to salvage a 2-2 draw at the Europa-Park Stadion thanks to Jonathan Tah’s 93rd-minute equaliser
but they could not find a winner and their dropped points cued title celebrations in Munich
Leverkusen had ended Bayern’s era of dominance in Germany last season
topping the Bundesliga in an unbeaten domestic campaign to halt Bayern’s run of 11 successive German titles
Bayern responded by appointing Vincent Kompany as head coach last summer
after he had overseen Burnley’s Championship-winning campaign in 2022-23 and their subsequent relegation
The trophy is the first of striker Kane’s 16-year professional career
having never won a title with Tottenham Hotspur or at international level with England despite the goalscoring records he set
while also missing out on success in his first season at Bayern
they exited the Champions League at the quarter-final stage to Inter and were beaten in the last-16 of the DFB-Pokal by Leverkusen in December
Bayern Munich are not back to where they were in the middle of the last decade; they have not attained that level of dominance this season
nor have they been a force in European football this season
but they are still an extremely talented side and the most powerful rival Bayern have encountered in recent years — and they have been held off relatively easy
But it is the smaller details that speak to Vincent Kompany’s impact on this side and the overall worth of the campaign
they will record their highest points total since 2020
They also have a chance of scoring more than 100 league goals in a season for the first time in five years
The atmosphere around Bayern has seemed calmer
and more conducive to progress since Kompany arrived
The turbulence of the Thomas Tuchel era is a memory
as are the many skirmishes that took place in front of the national media
The Belgian has been politically astute and has never stepped outside the boundaries of his job; being deferential is such an important and yet understated trait
He has “got it” — he has understood the social aspect of being Bayern coach in a way that some of his predecessors did not
His handling of the media has often been admirable
The big beasts of the German press are always ready to seize on a negative story
a lapse in form or some kind of controversy
but — while there have been a few of those — none of them have been Kompany’s doing
individual improvements speak for Kompany’s work
Jamal Musiala had his most productive season
Joshua Kimmich was often excellent after returning to midfield
Dayot Upamecano emerged as a mighty defender among a group of players who needed that example
Bayern may have paid a lot of money for Olise
but upon his arrival in the Bundesliga few thought him capable of having the kind of impact that he ultimately has
he has a strong claim to be the Bundesliga’s player of the year
Perhaps the best way to characterise this year is as the first of several steps back to Bayern’s best
began several years before Bundesliga dominance finally ended — and pointed the club’s nose upwards
There is more progress to make and there are also signings necessary in the summer
but the platform from which they will do that is now much stronger
Harry Kane has the first major trophy of his career
was hard to place in Bavaria and nearly two years after arriving
But he picked an awkward time to join Bayern Munich
and that has influenced both the way he has been treated in Germany
The Bundesliga finds it increasingly difficult to attract elite players in mid-career
Even Bayern find that difficult and so when Kane arrived from Tottenham as an established star
The night he arrived at the club — in a bright red Audi — he was met by hundreds of fans at Sabener Strasse
many of whom had spent the previous hours tracking his flight from England
Kane was the most expensive player in the history of German football and he was treated like it
That lasted a few months before he became a target
His goalscoring volume — which was always assumed and was really a perquisite — became secondary to questions surrounding the types of goals he was scoring and who he was scoring them against
Perhaps too many easy afternoons against Bochum
Those grumbles have never gone away and he is never more than a few scoreless games away from a cutting opinion piece
the league’s disparities offer the opportunity to accumulate goals and assists in great quantities
The price in return is an over-focus on any negatives
few of his misses ever lived long in the memory and his best moments were usually the ones to draw the most attention
His goals and good performances often pass without comment
and it is his failures and his bad games that attract the most attention and analysis
Winning the Bundesliga will not change that
there will still be muttering about Kane’s worth in split-second moments
and complaints about — for instance — the chance he pushed against the post in first leg of the Champions League quarter final against Inter
Those are the standards at Bayern and every centre-forward who has played for them during this modern era has been held to them
it means that Kane is permanently on trial
And yet it often ignores what has gone well or the challenges that come with being Bayern’s No 9 at this precise moment in time
Bayern were no better than their third-placed Bundesliga finish suggested and with a less rounded forward
their flaws — particularly in attack — would have been more exposed
The reliability of his goalscoring gave them a puncher’s chance
Kane’s receiving points have been deeper and he has been employed as part-goalscorer
He has been embedded within the team structure in a way that
Robert Lewandowski never was and never could be
and used as a means of compensating for weaknesses elsewhere in the side
he has had difficult periods over the past eight months — the week during which he failed to score against Eintracht Frankfurt
Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen was treated as an outright crisis — but Kane’s contribution has never
depended solely on his ability to change the score
he has been the right forward in the right place
Bayern’s wide players are not what they were
The base of their midfield is still between eras
And yet Vincent Kompany has been able to make it work well enough — partly because Kane has such breadth to his game
and has been able to work so well with the team’s outstanding individuals
and Thomas Muller remain icons of German football
but few players in this squad would trouble any World XI
and a fit Alphonso Davies would be in the conversation
— Harry Kane (@HKane) May 4, 2025
He would start for all but three or four teams in the whole of world football and is very much an A-List player of his generation
And there is value in Bayern having had that now
but also reassurance — one of those players who Bayern can put on the pitch to remind their opponents of their financial and technical superiority
but think back to the Champions League last-of-16 tie against Leverkusen
Bayern were 5-0 winners partly because of Kane’s goals — one in each leg — but also because they were Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen were not
Xabi Alonso’s side wilted under the lights
succumbing to that sense of inevitability that exists within big German footballing occasions
That power has been on the wane over the past few years
has allowed it to retain just enough wattage during this transitional period
There are questions here and they will be posed for many years
Could he have moved to a superclub earlier in his career
what matters is that he has the medal his career and its incredibly high standards so obviously deserves

HARRY KANE celebrated with teammates in style after finally ending his wait for a major trophy
Bayern Munich landed the Bundesliga title after Bayer Leverkusen's draw with Freiburg this afternoon
And the former Tottenham star took to Instagram to toast the achievement seconds after the final whistle - with a simple emoji of a trophy
Kane
who missed Saturday's 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig through injury
then celebrated his Bundesliga victory with teammates
Kane linked up with ex-Tottenham pal Eric Dier, who is leaving Bayern for Monaco this summer, captain Joshua Kimmich and former Arsenal forward Serge Gnabry to mark the achievement
He then sang Queen's "We are the Champions" with other Bayern chums in a brilliant video on Instagram
Bayern captioned it: "'Deserved' doesn't even begin to cover it."
Xabi Alonso's Leverkusen needed to win on Saturday in order to make Bayern wait to see their spot as champions confirmed.
But Maximilian Eggestein netted in the first half for the hosts - who jump into the Champions League places - before Piero Hincape put through his own net.
Premier League transfer target Florian Wirtz pulled a goal back and Jonathan Tah levelled in injury-time to make it 2-2 but it was not enough
Leverkusen can no longer catch Bayern with just two games left to play
The England captain could have earned the accolade yesterday but Bayern were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by RB Leipzig
The Bavarian side had overturned a 2-0 defecit to lead with minutes remaining
only for Yussuf Poulsen to net with the last kick of the game
Kane missed the game due to suspension but had made his way down to the pitch from the stands to celebrate with his team after being given special dispensation.
Bundesliga rules state that a suspended player can not be on the pitchside from 30 minutes before kick-off until 30 minutes after the full-time whistle
But Kane was left stunned pitchside as the title slipped through his grasp - if only for 24 hours
Kane joined Bayern from Spurs in 2023 with the aim of winning trophies
his debut season saw the German giants fail to win a single title for the first time since the barren 2011/12 campaign
The striker had to watch on as Leverkusen went invincible in the league while Bayern were dumped out of the Champions League and German Cup
Kane never won a major honour at Tottenham Hotspur despite reaching the finals of the Carabao Cup twice and the Champions League
The North London outfit lost the Carabao Cup final to Chelsea and Man City and the Champions League to Liverpool in 2019

Krefeld is a town in North Rhine-Westphalia where the creative consultant and entrepreneur hails from
though she has now lived in Munich’s lively Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt neighborhood for around nine years
She also regularly hosts events with Munich creatives gathered around her exquisite tables
Holthaus invited AD Germany to sit down at one of her tables for this interview
The aroma of tea brewing filled the air as we sat under a red and white striped canopy above the table we’re seated at
while the gentle winter sun created an enchanting play of light on the silver and glassware
It’s an ideal atmosphere to discuss her apartment
Verena Holthaus next to the sculpture Formation of Universal Consciousness by Gregory Borlein
Holthaus placed various objects atop the Biedermeier chest of drawers
including a ceramic box by André von Martens
and the room fragrance by Peace in the Wild
Verena Holthaus’s apartment is full of color
The Ettore Memphis armchair from Studio Greca matches the painted ceiling perfectly
you dedicate yourself to tableware at Salon c/o
Today we are sitting at this artfully laid table
Could you please explain your concept in more detail
Verena Holthaus: It’s not easy for me to put it in one sentence
for me it is about a contemporary interpretation of the culture of gathering around a table
It’s about creating a place in Munich—or anywhere
for that matter—where people can come together
I achieve this through the following three pillars: concept
which serves as a physical location where I sell and lend objects
and then there are my events with a focus on art and culture
There are also series of events such as the Gabelfrühstück [or second breakfast
a traditional meal in Bavaria between breakfast and lunch]
which are designed to bring people together and inspire them
It’s very important to me that it’s not just about superficial objects
I always try to pick up on the history of the things I use in my settings: What period or style is a particular object
It’s about revisiting these beautiful old things in a modern context
Many of my objects have histories while they are also items that you want to continue to use
The image on the right is by Robert Jan Poorter
How did you end up with this unique career
I studied fashion and design management in Düsseldorf and actually always wanted to work in fashion
My father was a photographer who did a lot of fashion work and he would sometimes take me to shoots
I actually had a clear path in mind and worked for stylist Karin van Noort when I was in school
She still influences my work today and taught me how to work with objects
a job with fashion label Marc O’Polo took me to Bavaria
But I always wanted to start my own business
so I decided to get an MBA in Innovation and Business at the Technical University of Munich
I moved into consulting—that was something completely different
I’ve always liked to delve into new topics
I also try to bring people together to talk to each other and solve problems
And then at some point Salon c/o was added to the mix
and my consulting activities gave me the financial means to build up something on the side
Into the ring: An artfully laid table in the dining room
The kitchen was Holthaus’s first painting project and she saturated the space in a deep forest green
The chairs and table here are from a flea market; the lamp is also vintage
Holthaus’s favorite painting hangs on the wall: Fleck (Stain) by Andrej Maxim Auch
The chest of drawers from IKEA is decorated with a lamp by Sigmar Willnauer and a candelabra by Josef Frank for Svenskt Tenn from the 1920s
So how exactly did you come up with the idea of focusing on the culture of the table
We celebrated New Year’s Eve after New Year’s Eve and I was always in charge of the table settings
At some point I started doing it for weddings too
At some point it occurred to me that Munich was missing a space that brings people together
So I started writing the first business plan in 2021 and then I opened the first space in Neuhausen in 2022
What does tableware mean to you personally
From top to bottom: Fork and spoons by Nella Beljan; knife rest by Christofle (Salon c/o); mixed vintage cutlery
With Salon c/o, I have found something that brings people together. I don’t have any siblings, I was alone a lot with my parents. I think I would have liked to have experienced people gathered around a table more often
Somehow it always gives me a feeling of conviviality
that you’re not alone and that you can give something back to people
a table always exudes a certain calm while at the same time it offers so many possibilities
I always take a moment to step back and observe everyone sitting around the table
and immersed in conversation—there’s something very special about that for me
How exactly do you select the objects for your settings and your store
My parents have always surrounded themselves with beautiful things
but beautiful ones and I think I’ve absorbed that over the years
The eye always has to linger on an object and trigger a reaction in me
Most of them come from flea and antique markets
I usually go with a friend who is just as passionate about these objects as I am
It’s nice because then we also look for items for each other
I also find objects in classified ads and at online auctions
I also pick up lots of finds when I’m traveling
The Salon c/o space looks very clean and brutalist
There are always two hearts beating in my chest
there’s the business side; I could spend days buried in spreadsheets and working on strategies
but I can also spend hours in museums or exploring flea markets
This duality runs through many areas of my life
including in my apartment and my workspace
I shared the apartment with a girlfriend from Krefeld
KFF Trix chair by Karl-Friedrich Förster next to a vintage chest of drawers
a range of objects from an Art Deco tea service by Christian Fjerdingstad to a 3D-printed vase and a silver bowl
I’ve been living here on my own for about a year now
my flatmates used to have their own styles in their own rooms
But the style of my room would be recognizable today
It was always a combination of new and old elements
The striped armchair in the dining room was a free find via a classified ad
On the wall: All that Ramana Maharshi Told Us by Gregory Borlein
Holthaus likes to combine contemporary and vintage objects
such as the Biedermeier chest of drawers with the Giraffa lamp by Jonathan Bocca in the dining room
The painting on the wall hung in her parents living room as did the small picture on the wall to the left
The framed work atop the stack of books is Just Two Little Spritzers
I bought most of it at flea markets or from classified ads
I don’t think I own a single piece of furniture that cost more than 1300 euros
I think it’s good to show people that you don’t have to buy all your furniture from a catalog
and that objects are beautiful when they have a story to tell
Every piece of furniture I have has its own story
I always paint rooms when I’m feeling heartbroken
[Laughs.] The kitchen was my first painting project
I realize that perhaps I first had to get to know my home in order to know what it needs
you develop a different relationship to colors and you see how a room responds to a particular hue
it takes some courage to experiment with color
My friends have already commented on the ceiling in the hallway and how they don’t know what to make of it
A green party in the kitchen: ceiling light (Ferm Living)
Above the Art Nouveau bed hangs a picture of an angel
A vintage Panthella lamp from Louis Poulsen is on the bedside table
The butterfly image is also a vintage find
But I also get inspiration while traveling and from friends
Once I have a rough idea of what I want to do
then I wouldn’t be able to discover anything new to add to it
Are there always a lot of changes in your interiors
I don’t buy items specifically for a particular room; I buy what I like
it just has to wait a little until the right place is found for it
What else is important to you when furnishing and decorating an interior
the bright red hat in the dining room doesn’t really have any particular purpose
and that’s exactly why the eye lingers on it
Not just because it’s an interesting object
but also because it’s hung in an unusual way
interesting objects everywhere that tell a story and that you have to think about a little when you see them for the first time
Customers come back because they don’t immediately grasp everything
It’s also important to me that books that inspired me and led to a certain table setting are always visible
They usually provide a great basis for conversation
I was given the book Fragebogen (Questionnaire) by Max Frisch as a gift
The framed quote hangs diagonally above the Ettore Memphis armchair: “There are good people
There are Krefeld people.” Wall lamp (Vistosi)
A photograph by artist Jürgen Klauke hangs above Joe Colombo’s B-Line trolley
there are objects that perhaps no longer work for me aesthetically
but which are still part of my life and remind me of a certain time
this chair by Thonet was the first chair that I bought at an auction
It may not fit the interior quite as well as it used to
but I still can’t part with it because it’s also a beautiful memento
Or the picture above the Biedermeier chest of drawers in the dining room
It used to hang in our living room in Düsseldorf
which has been above my bed since I was born
It seems like you aren’t adding anything new
I wouldn’t say that. There’s an IKEA wardrobe in the hallway which I bought for purely practical reasons
and I made the curtains for the canopy in the living room myself
But I don’t think I buy as many new things because I also like to spend that money instead on art and to support young artists
A good example is the work by Andrej Maxim Auch
I looked at his works at the Academy in Munich and I initially had a completely different work in mind
But I think that’s what art sometimes does; it triggers something in you
I think it’s also good to establish a connection to artists
but I don’t connect with the person behind it
Do you have a special work of art that is close to your heart
It was also the biggest art purchase I’d ever made
I could look at it for hours and I always find something new
You have also been organizing events in your apartment for some time now
I realized how exciting I found it to visit other people’s spaces
you remember the event in a completely different way
And all of this ties into the idea of hospitality
It’s easier to warmly welcome someone in private spaces
what are the main ingredients for creating an atmosphere that feels inviting
The tureen in the bathroom is from Villeroy & Boch
Holthaus placed it atop a vintage cupboard
Shell game: Brass casings are repurposed as vases
The robe by Alva Morgaine is the perfect counterpart for the blue wall
Babycumulationspheres from the series Multimothermegasphere by Josefine Pytlik
Step inside: The front door of the apartment

FC Barcelona continues to be a hot topic in the elite
as their defensive line has established itself as one of the most solid of the season
the team has shown solidity at key moments of the season
It's no wonder: both with Xavi at the helm and now with Hansi Flick on the bench
the club has committed to maintaining a compact and highly competitive defensive line
In this context, defensive rotation has been a constant. The coaching staff has prioritized the balance between youth, experience, and versatility, which has led to some prominent names losing ground in terms of minutes. One of these players has been Ronald Araújo
remains a reference figure both on and off the field
The current situation of the Uruguayan center-back has caught the attention of Bayern Munich. The German giant seeks to strengthen its defense with a profile like Araújo's: strong
Although he still has an active contract with Barça
making him a priority target for the German team
Bayern's interest comes at a crucial moment
and they are willing to make a significant effort to sign him
Araújo hasn't had the continuity he wanted this season
but his competitive nature and commitment have never been in doubt
they consider him the ideal player to lead a defense that has had ups and downs this season
they know that an offer could complicate the situation
Selling Araújo would mean losing one of the defensive line's references
but it would also open the door to new signings or strengthening other key areas
they have already contacted the center-back's entourage to know his disposition

With Liverpool scouts in attendance as they finalise plans for the summer
RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko caught the eye with a stunning 40-yard strike
Sesko is among the strikers Liverpool are known to be interested in as they plot to replace Darwin Nunez, with Newcastle‘s Alexander Isak and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike also targets
That saw scouts from Anfield travel to Germany this weekend to watch Leipzig’s clash with Bayern Munich on Saturday evening
Per the Mail‘s Lewis Steele
two players who “could be on the agenda” for those watching on at the Red Bull Arena were Sesko and attacking midfielder Xavi Simons
Liverpool will no doubt have been impressed
as Sesko opened the scoring with an outrageous effort from at least 40 yards out
With the ball breaking to the Slovenian just inside the Bayern half
Sesko caught goalkeeper Jonas Urbig out as he slipped attempting to get back into position and found the back of the net with the outside of his right foot
It was a stunning finish and Sesko’s 21st goal of the season for Leipzig
with the 21-year-old also assisting six goals in his 43 appearances
Leipzig took a two-goal lead before half-time but Bayern went 3-2 up through goals from Eric Dier
Michael Olise and Leroy Sane in the second half – only for Yussuf Poulsen
The 3-3 draw meant Bayern were not confirmed as champions
though they could be on Sunday depending on Bayer Leverkusen’s result against Freiburg
Liverpool were first linked with a move for Sesko in 2022
while he was still at Leipzig’s sister-club Salzburg and nicknamed the ‘Mini Haaland’
He opted to follow the Red Bull pathway to Leipzig but the Reds’ interest has remained, with The Athletic reporting in December that Liverpool were among the clubs to have “expressed interest” in a transfer last summer
Sesko is under contract at Leipzig until 2029 but it is widely reported that there is a gentleman’s agreement in place to allow him to leave this summer for a competitive offer
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will make a move
with the 6’5″ forward known to be a streaky player rather than
But his performance against Bayern may have helped his case with scouts watching on

According to Mundo Deportivo
Bayern Munich are preparing to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Barcelona’s pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah
Despite the Catalan club being widely viewed as frontrunners for the defender’s signature
no formal agreement has been reached—something Bayern are keen to exploit
It ’i an open secret that Tah will be leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season
While Barcelona have long been credited with leading the race to sign him
the delay in formalising the deal has opened the door for other suitors
Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and even Real Madrid have all been linked
but Bayern now appear the most proactive in trying to change the defender’s mind
What has accelerated Bayern’s interest is the unexpected departure of Eric Dier
The Englishman has chosen not to renew his contract and is set to sign for AS Monaco instead
where he has reportedly been offered an extra year
This move has left new manager Vincent Kompany short of options in defence
and Tah has emerged as a key target to reinforce the backline
While Tah is said to have verbally committed to joining Barcelona
it is important to note that this remains a declaration of intent rather than a signed deal
Barcelona’s financial fair play constraints continue to complicate matters
as does their currently bloated central defensive roster
The club has six centre-backs on the books
including Andreas Christensen and Eric Garcia
Ronald Araujo has a clause that would allow him to leave for a lower fee if he feels underutilised
Bayern are reportedly ready to offer Tah not only a significant role in Kompany’s new project but also a financially attractive contract
With uncertainty surrounding Barcelona’s ability to register new players and balance their books
the Bundesliga giants sense an opportunity to swoop in

United Kingdom (Mike Kemp/In Pictures via Getty Images)The global consequences of the U.S
recognizing Crimea as Russian territory would be "much worse than Munich in 1938," a Ukrainian lawmaker has told the Kyiv Independent
The potential diplomatic move is reportedly one of several options included in a U.S. proposal to end the war in Ukraine, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on April 20
Ukrainian lawmaker and chair of the parliament's foreign affairs committee, Oleksandr Merezhko, told the Kyiv Independent that if U.S. President Donald Trump did follow through and formally recognise the occupied peninsula as Russian
it would be a "huge scandal" with major implications for the international rule of law
"I doubt he will do it because he understands — at least the advisors around him and the State Department understand — the consequences of this in the eyes of the whole world," he said
In 1938, the leaders of the U.K., France, and Italy met with German tyrant Adolf Hitler in Munich and formally recognized Nazi Germany's annexation of the Sudetenland in what was then Czechoslovakia
An emboldened Hitler launched World War II a year later
Russia illegally annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 in a sham referendum which was conducted in the absence of any international observers
and with armed Russian soldiers present at polling stations
Any move by the Trump administration to formally recognize it as Russian territory would contradict a decade-long bipartisan consensus in Washington and international law
then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reaffirmed U.S
calling it a threat to "a bedrock international principle shared by democratic states: that no country can change the borders of another by force."
The U.S. Congress has also passed legislation opposing any recognition of Russia’s claim over Crimea
it will be a serious violation of the principles of international law," Merezhko said
"It would violate such principles as respect for sovereignty of other states
The proposals, outlined by senior Trump administration officials in a confidential meeting with Ukrainian and European counterparts in Paris on April 17
were confirmed by Western officials to the WSJ
The news comes as Washington signaled readiness to drop ceasefire efforts within the coming days unless progress is achieved
Ukraine's feedback is expected at a follow-up meeting in London later this week
the proposals could be formally introduced to Moscow

playThomas Müller's trophy-laden Bayern career to come to an end (0:58)Take a look at the incredible numbers and trophies behind Thomas Müller's Bayern Munich career as the 35-year-old announces he will leave the club this summer
Bayern Munich midfielder/forward Thomas Müller has rejected a contract offer from FC Cincinnati
The news was first reported by German publication Bild
Müller, 35, announced earlier this month that he will leave Bayern as a free agent when his contract expires this summer
Cincinnati owns Müller's MLS discovery rights
a mechanism that acts as a right of first refusal for the team

This may not have been as sedate as the walking pace at which Harry Kane nudged the opener but, in truth, it was not far off. Bayern never looked like losing even a fraction of the three-goal lead amassed in the first leg and could count once again on the England captain, whose presence on their scoresheet does not seem such a luxury any more.

Vincent Kompany’s side are purring and any predictions that this tie would confirm a longer-term shift in the Bundesliga’s traditional power balance have been made to look absurd
Might Xabi Alonso come to wish he had quit while he was ahead
That may be a dramatic reading but Leverkusen
having performed spectacularly to overhaul Bayern last year
may find it harder to check their momentum again now
although it would be remiss to ignore the fact Leverkusen outplayed Bayern here in the league a month ago
and have an eight-point gap to bridge domestically
Over the past week the gulf has looked startlingly vast
This time Leverkusen could point to the absence of Florian Wirtz
whose next action in this competition will come wearing Bayern’s colours if his suitors have their way
dreams of a comeback were over before they had taken hold

“We showed what type of team we are,” he said
referring to their progress since grisly league phase results against Barcelona and Feyenoord
It’s never easy when you have a three-goal lead.”
It remains to be seen whether that aphorism catches on. Perhaps Kane could sympathise with the importance Leverkusen ascribe to Wirtz: after all, Pep Guardiola once named an entire Spurs team after him
Here Bayern looked much more like a collective even though
Within 15 minutes of the start he could have scored twice
Lukas Hradecky clawing away from near the line and beating away a meatier strike from distance
The openings never quite dried up despite Leverkusen’s hyperactivity
ShowMarcus Thuram (pictured) and Hakan Calhanoglu were on target as Inter defeated Feyenoord 2-1 in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie to advance comfortably into the quarter-finals with a 4-1 aggregate win
Inter, the Serie A leaders, will face the Bundesliga table toppers Bayern Munich, who defeated Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 on aggregate
The three-time winners Inter last lifted the trophy in 2010
beating Bayern in the final in a treble-winning season
and Inzaghi's side are still on course to repeat that feat
with a Coppa Italia semi-final also to come in April
Feyenoord came into the game with an uphill task after losing 2-0 at home last week
and by the eighth minute they were left with a mountain to climb following Thuram's superb solo goal. Thuram
who also opened the scoring at De Kuip in the first leg
collected the ball on the left wing before cutting inside with some clever footwork before curling a shot into the far top corner
Mehdi Taremi sent a shot straight at the keeper as Inter looked to put the tie even further out of reach but Feyenoord pulled one back three minutes before the break from the penalty spot
Calhanoglu was penalised for a foul on Jakub Moder who picked himself up and sent his spot kick into the bottom corner to beat Yann Sommer
just the second goal Inter have conceded in this season's competition
Any hope of a Feyenoord comeback all but ended when Calhanoglu made up for his mistake by converting his own penalty six minutes into the second half after Thomas Beelen fouled Taremi
With Feyenoord taking risks in an effort to get something from the game
Inter were always dangerous on the counter and looked like they had another penalty but after a VAR check
Thuram still received a standing ovation from the home crowd when replaced
having just struck a thunderous shot which bounced back off the underside of the crossbar
and Inter had little trouble seeing the game out

might be required but the effect was a jumpiness that wrought little
Passes pinged off knees and toes; footings were lost and bodies opened up prematurely
of the kind that had smothered them in Bavaria
selected as a battering ram to diversify their Wirtz-less attack
At one stage Alonso gestured for his players to compose themselves; to dispense with the one-touch stuff and make the ball work
They mustered squalls of pressure but the only poise on display oozed from Bayern’s cream jerseys
who marauded regularly and came close again through Michael Olise and Kingsley Coman
At the break Alonso may have hung on to memories of Istanbul; of the heady
Technicolor night 20 years ago when he and Liverpool took victory from Milan’s clenched jaws
But soon enough Leverkusen needed four goals
Kane’s 33rd of the season may have been his strangest

Kane could control and stroll it home; so much for fretting about the outcome
Jonas Urbig saving from Jeremie Frimpong and Schick
Kane helping the ball on at the end of a slick right-sided move for Davies to sidefoot crisply on the bounce
There was plenty of time for Kane to miss when through and Jamal Musiala to strike the woodwork twice
but the statement had long since been made
“I think the boys showed again today how hungry they are for what they want to achieve,” a clearly satisfied Vincent Kompany said
and I don’t want to get too carried away.” If the most dangerous foe is the one you know best
Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Benjamin Pavard helped Inter into the semi-finals
But this Inter side is so resilient and they have so many different weapons
This is not a vintage Bayern side, especially when they are lacking Neuer, Musiala, Davies and even other first-teamers like Upamecano. Yet the German side created way more chances in both legs (13 attempts to Inter’s six in the first leg and 14 to Inter’s 10 in the second). Barcelona, with an attack that includes Raphinha, Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal, will fancy themselves to be more ruthless.
What a brilliant quartet. I genuinely have no idea who will make the final or win the thing.

He already has the most victories by any player within their first 50 matches in the competition’s history.

Thomas Müller will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season
bringing an end to a 25-year career with the club
In a statement, Müller, 35, who started as a youth player and won a record 12 league titles with Bayern -- the most by any Bundesliga player -- said he would have liked to stay on
"It's clear that today is not like any other day for me," Müller said
"My 25 years as an FC Bayern Munich player will come to an end in the summer
great encounters and unforgettable triumphs
"I feel immense gratitude and joy that I got to make this career with my beloved club
The special connection to the club and our fantastic fans will always remain
What I want as a farewell should be clear: titles we can celebrate together
and moments we'll remember fondly for a long time
"We're going to give our all in the coming weeks to bring the league title back to Munich and reach our coveted 'Finale Dahoam.' Let's do it together!"

had seen his playing time drop sharply in the past two seasons and now only plays a minor role under coach Vincent Kompany
His future was the subject of speculation for several months but until now
both the club and the player had stayed silent
While there is no indication that Müller will retire from football any time soon
Bayern have hinted they would like him to get involved with the club following the end of his playing days
Bayern said the decision to end his career at the club was taken jointly with the player
and Müller would make his last appearances for the club at the Club World Cup in the United States in June and July
"Thomas Müller is the epitome of a Bavarian textbook career," club president Herbert Hainer said in a statement
He joins the ranks of FC Bayern's most outstanding personalities."
Sporting director Christoph Freund thanked Müller for his service to Bayern
just an incredible amount of instinct and extraordinary reading of the game -- a pure footballer

two club World Cups and six German Cups with Bayern
He also helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup
Müller could add more titles this season to his bulging trophy cabinet
with Bayern leading the title race by a nine-point advantage
They also face Inter Milan in the Champions League quarterfinals next week
The Champions League final will be held in Munich's Allianz Arena
"Now our full focus is on our sporting goals for the season," Müller said
"It would be a dream for me to bring the league trophy back home and reach the long-awaited final at home at the end of May."
Müller retired from Germany duty after their exit from Euro 2024, ending his international career with 131 caps and 45 goals.

Harry Kane has scored 22 goals in the Bundesliga this season
If you've played against Harry Kane in the Bundesliga
The England captain's goal against St Pauli on Saturday means he has now scored against all 19 clubs he has faced in the league in Germany
Only Miroslav Klose - Germany's all-time top scorer - has faced more clubs in the Bundesliga and scored against them all (28)
It comes after Kane achieved the same feat in England
with the former Tottenham striker scoring against all 32 clubs he faced in the Premier League
His latest Bundesliga strike ended his mini-drought of five games and means he remains the league's top scorer
It helped Bayern to a 3-2 victory and moved Kane a step closer to winning his first major trophy
with Bayern six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga
Kane moved to Bayern from Tottenham in August 2023 and has now scored 58 goals in 57 Bundesliga games
That is more than any other player in that time
with the nearest challenger being Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe
who has scored 49 goals in 56 league appearances since the start of the 2023-24 season
no player has scored more goals than Kane in Europe's top five leagues
Kane's scoring prowess means he also has the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any player in Europe's top five leagues to have hit 20 or more goals since the start of last season
so time is against him in his pursuit of ending his long wait for a trophy
Thirteen years at Tottenham did not yield silverware
and even his first full season at Bayern ended with them uncharacteristically failing to win anything
he is on course to lift at least one trophy this term
with Bayern closing in on the Bundesliga title
Bayern are six points clear of Bayer Leverkusen at the top of the table with seven games remaining
If Vincent Kompany's side win while their rivals lose then the earliest point they would have an unassailable advantage would be 19 April
unlikely meaning in its simplest terms Bayern will win the title if they collect five wins from their remaining seven games
Kane could in fact end the season with two trophies
because Bayern are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League
Should Bayern win a trophy this season it will mean Kane happily departs a club no-one wants to be in - a trophyless career
There are many famous players with that unfortunate record
Matt le Tissier was widely regarded as one of the most gifted attackers of his generation but never won a trophy
He spent his entire career at Southampton and was capped eight times by England
Antonio di Natale was capped 42 times for Italy and played in the final of Euro 2012
At club level he mainly played for Udinese and was twice top scorer in Serie A but finished his career without a major trophy
Yildiray Basturk won 49 caps for Turkey and played the majority of his career in the Bundesliga but never won significant silverware
coming closest when Bayer Leverkusen finished runners-up in 2001-02
Harry Kane may fancy chasing down the all-time Premier League top scorer record currently held by Alan Shearer
Should Kane win a trophy this season he may feel ready for a new challenge
The striker has been linked with a return to the Premier League, with reported interest from Liverpool., external
Kane is contracted to Bayern until 2027 and has indicated he remains very happy at the club.
But there is one record he might like to chase down - the all-time top scorer in the Premier League.
Former Blackburn and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has long held the record with 260 goals, but Kane is second in the standings with 213.
If he replicates his current scoring rate in the Bundesliga, then he could well surpass Shearer's total within two seasons.
That could prove too tempting a challenge to overlook.

Jamal Musiala’s torn hamstring has hurt departing forward’s chances of winning Champions League at the Allianz Arena
As Didier Drogba’s penalty swept into the corner of the net, everything stopped. It had been written that it was Bayern Munich’s night. After having their chances in the 2010 Champions League final but ending up as a footnote in Inter’s treble, this was where they would put it right.
They could have done little more, piling the pressure on a prone and wounded Chelsea. But they, and Drogba in particular, would just not fold and the striker’s winning kick in the shootout made all their worst fears come true. Bayern’s party was over. The public transport network, taking fans back from Fröttmaning to the centre of Munich, ground to an involuntary halt, as if signifying all elements human and digital were unable to digest what had come to pass.

England captain Harry Kane has won the first major trophy of his career after Bayern Munich were confirmed as Bundesliga champions

This season his 24 goals so far have helped restore Bayern to supremacy under Kompany, who this time last year was about to be relegated from the Premier League with Burnley. Kane is on track to become the first player to win the top scorer title in both of his first two Bundesliga seasons
who were also champions in 1932 in the pre-Bundesliga era
have now won 12 titles in 13 seasons and 28 more than the next most successful sides
Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Mönchengladbach
Bayern have endured some disappointment this season, losing 1-0 at home to Leverkusen in the German Cup in December and being eliminated 4-3 by Inter in the Champions League quarter-finals
who is being linked with a move to Real Madrid
with Leverkusen having been stunned by third-tier Arminia Bielefeld in this month’s German Cup semi-finals
Bayern might just opt for using Gnabry as a backup striker instead of tapping into the transfer market for a striker
The key contract extension for Alphonso Davies
Jamal Musiala and Joshua Kimmich were all secured earlier this season
but Bayern is still in the market for center backs
It might not exactly be considered a squad overhaul
but Vincent Kompany knows where he has to make improvements after his first season in charge of the German Rekordmeister
Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz is the main transfer target Bayern will be focusing on this summer
and said move would cost Bayern upwards of a 250-million-euro total package
so most of their financial resources would be drained on that deal
there had also been talk of Bayern being in the market for a Harry Kane backup at the striker’s position
but that now does not appear to be the case
Per information from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia)
Bayern is currently exploring the possibility of using Serge Gnabry as a Kane backup up front
taking into consideration the amount of money they would spend to sign Wirtz
Gnabry does not have any intention of leaving Bayern this summer and his contract with the club runs through June 2026
He could be up for sale next winter or summer
using him as a secondary striker would be a cheaper option for Bayern than dipping into the transfer market for a striker
The winger has struggled to maintain consistent performances this season as well as in recent seasons
but he has also had several injuries that have hindered him from progressing
he has a tendency to pop up with goals and assists towards the end of the season
which has previously swayed Bayern’s board not to offload him in previous summer transfer windows
including an assist in the 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig
which was ultimately the point that secured the league title for Bayern with Leverkusen’s subsequent 2-2 draw at Freiburg

“Even in the future nothing works” — Lord Helmet
No, Rick Moranis’ character was not talking about the prospects of Bayern Munich’s academy system during that 80s classic
the Bayern Munich fan base is desperate to see more homegrown stars
but it has proven to be a difficult journey to navigate for many players
when seeing Aleksandar Pavlović play in the midfielder or when watching highlights of Lennart Karl
but until the academy starts producing stars consistently
some rumors indicate that Tom Bischof’s free agent signing has left some within the academy operations resentful and feeling like the homegrown talent could face a roadblock:
The transfer of Tom Bischof is causing questions at the FC Bayern Campus and was seen as a bit of an ‘affront’ within the academy because it blocks the path for academy players with similar profile/position(s) (Wanner
there are critical voices at the Campus because since the emergence of Aleksandar Pavlović last season
there has been no integration of other academy players with the first team this season
So...maybe the academy coaches have a point in some respect
but Paul Wanner does not appear to be ready
while Bischof has played for an equally underperforming squad and has done better
some of those other players referenced are far from looking ready to contribute consistently next season
Seeing Arijon Ibrahimović or Javier Fernández would be awesome
but it does not appear likely for 2025/26 — at least right now
Bischof on a free transfer was too good to pass up
Former Bayern Munich defender David Alaba could be on his way out at Real Madrid:
Real Madrid is looking to move on David Alaba this summer
The Austria international is now 32 and has struggled with injuries over the last two seasons
The Club World Cup could be his last involvement with the Spanish giants
Bayern Munich is in need of some versatile defensive help
so…would you bring Alaba back to be part of the mix if he would agree to a club friendly deal
Bayern Munich was crowned Bundesliga champions during a watch party
We have a full slate of topics to untangle
This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show:
Juventus is rumored to be a big fan of Manchester United’s Rasmus Højlund and might now be able to get him:
Serie A giants Juventus have taken the first steps to signing Rasmus Højlund from Manchester United this summer
who moved to Old Trafford from Atalanta two years ago
has struggled to adapt to life in England and has scored only four Premier League goals this season
The 22-year-old is available for transfer as Ruben Amorim plans a significant rebuild
with a return to Italy the most likely outcome
With Dusan Vlahovic set to leave Juve due to a contract impasse
the Turin club have identified Højlund as a suitable replacement
The original plan was to sign another former Serie A forward struggling at United
and Amorim’s desire to give the ex-Bologna player another chance
Dean Huijsen and Bournemouth could be set to talk about his future very soon:
Huijsen is rumored to be on Bayern Munich’s radar
but funding could be an issue if the Bavarians secure the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz
Bayern Munich traveled to RB Leipzig and earned a tough 3-3 draw in a match that will not leave either side satisfied
Bayern Munich needed the win to clinch the title
while RB Leipzig needed three points to help keep its European hopes alive
then fought all the way back to take the lead...and collapsed in an utterly deflating fashion
Let’s talk about all of that and more on the Bavarian Podcast Work — Postgame Show
Rumored Bayern Munich transfer target Christopher Nkunku is reportedly ready to leave Chelsea FC:
While Bayern Munich could use some new blood in its attack
Nkunku will likely be too expensive if the Bavarians sign Wirtz
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne is still drawing interest from English clubs — including Chelsea FC, Arsenal FC, and Aston Villa:
Arsenal and Aston Villa are all holding internal talks about making a move to sign free agent Kevin De Bruyne
The 33-year-old is finishing the season strongly having announced that he will leave Manchester City
Bayern Munich is in the homestretch of the season
but the news surrounding the team continues to heat up
Let’s talk about everything going on with the squad on this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany has two Genk youngsters on his sight:
Vincent Kompany is a fan of Konstantinos Karetsas (17) and Lucca Brughmans (16) from Genk and is keeping an eye on them
Both are considered perspective players for the future
Borussia Dortmund could be in line to acquire Arsenal FC’s Oleksandr Zinchenko:
Oleksandr Zinchenko looks set to leave Arsenal in the summer with Borussia Dortmund increasingly confident of getting a deal over the line
You have to give Bayern Munich credit for this — a lot of players sure like being with the club
According to a report from Foot Mercato journalists Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis (as captured by @iMiaSanMia)
Kingsley Coman wants to remain with Bayern Munich and does not want to leave this summer:
is unwilling to leave the club this summer despite the interest of Arsenal and Saudi clubs
The Frenchman has a good relationship with Vincent Kompany and would like to continue next season
Bayern were hoping to sell Coman this summer in order to partly finance the Wirtz transfer
This could present a major issue for Bayern Munich — especially if the club lands Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen
Leroy Sané is expected to re-up this week and there is only so much playing time to go around within the attack
Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané has been expected to extend his contract with the club
Let’s take a look at the news as it has progressed today..
things were just a recap of where it all stood for Sané:
Bayern’s first offer for Leroy Sané was worth €8m fixed plus bonuses per year
both sides reached an agreement for €10m fixed plus €5m bonuses
The deal is now on the verge of being finalized
After reaching an agreement over a new contract with Bayern
Leroy Sané has separated from his agency ‘11Wins’ shortly before signing the contract
Sané will now be represented by Pini Zahavi
It remains to be seen whether this change of agent means Sané wants more money or ultimately to leave the club
Another reporting showing up things could be getting crazy:
the agency that had most recently been negotiating on behalf of Leroy Sané was close to reaching a full agreement with Max Eberl on a new contract until 2028
Sané informed Eberl that he’s now represented by Pini Zahavi
Sané’s future is now open again - but an extension is not ruled out
it’s questionable whether Bayern would agree to new terms
And...now for the final assurance that things might be going sideways:
and we’re looking forward to working with him
We have a very good relationship with FC Bayern and the people involved
We’re looking forward to the upcoming talks.”
this could all just be posturing or Sané seeking better guidance
the assumption would be that he is there to get the Bayern Munich winger the money back that he would be losing in the initial deal
Eric Dier has made 25 appearances for Bayern Munich this season
Bayern Munich defender Eric Dier will leave the club at the end of the season after rejecting the chance to stay at the Allianz Arena
The 31-year-old joined the Bundesliga club from Tottenham in January 2024
The Germans signed the England centre-back permanently that summer
with Dier going on to make 45 appearances for the six-time Champions League winners
"We had discussions with Eric about a new contract," sporting director Christoph Freund said
"He told us that he doesn't want to extend and will leave us
Hopefully he crowns his time with us with his first title."
BBC Sport understands Dier is in advanced talks to join Ligue 1 Monaco
It is understood talks with Monaco are aimed at agreeing an initial three-year deal
Bayern are on the brink of winning the Bundesliga and can wrap up the title with a win against rivals RB Leipzig this weekend
it will be the first piece of silverware that Dier has won in his career
finished as a runner-up with Spurs in the 2015 and 2021 Carabao Cup finals
as well as the 2019 Champions League final
Vincent Kompany has brought Bundesliga glory back to Bayern Munich
On a rainy Saturday in Leipzig, Bayern Munich rallied from a 2-0 halftime deficit to take a 3-2 lead into stoppage time
Yussuf Poulsen chipped Jonas Urbig to ruin the celebration
Bayern essentially bagged the title with a nine-point lead and a plus-30 goal differential margin
but delayed celebrations until it was made official
It was a cruel fate for Bayern but a fate that was rectified today. Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw at Freiburg officially conceded the title. Bayern gathered at the Käfer restaurant to watch the match together
This year’s title is significant for a variety of Bayern players:
then fought all the way back to take the led...and collapsed in an utterly deflating fashion
With an advantage of eight points over nearest competitors Bayer Leverkusen and just two more games to go in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich have mathematically secured the Bundesliga title
Naturally, this means that the head honchos deliver the appropriate congratulations, as Bayern president Herbert Hainer did: “The Bundesliga trophy is coming back to Munich to FC Bayern – that was the big goal this season. Congratulations to the team and to our coach Vincent Kompany and his staff for his fantastic first league season,” the former Adidas CEO said, via @iMiaSanMia
“Congratulations also to our entire board and our sporting management
not least to Max Eberl and Christoph Freund
who both also won the trophy for the first time
This title is the reward for top-class work.”
“A big thank you also to all the employees who work behind the scenes every day to ensure this success
We all sincerely congratulate Harry Kane on his title
who has already scored an incredible 80 goals for us and who has shown everyone: Kane can win titles
we are champions again – and the trophy will be back home on Saturday.”
followed by frenetic celebrations in the Marienplatz on Sunday
It will be a well deserved reward for a difficult but promising season for die Rekordmeister
Looks like the team will have to celebrate only after the season officially ends
As Bayern Munich move towards the end of their 2024/24 Bundesliga campaign
the likelihood of bagging the Meisterschale has risen
the goal difference after the game against RB Leipzig is indicative of the fact that Bayern are Deutschefußballmeister 2025
some surprising news came out — manager Vincent Kompany had permitted the team to take a long weekend and make a team trip to Ibiza
This comes at a time when nothing is still fully conclusive — the trophy is yet to be handed to the Bavarians
Most were critical of the timing of the trip, raising concerns that the players may not put forth their best if they were busy vacationing while the season is still ongoing. Max Eberl, along with the higher officials echoed the same sentiment. Per @iMiaSanMia
Eberl stated that the trip would not happen
We discussed it and said it wasn’t appropriate
RB Leipzig managed a last-second draw in Saturday’s match against Bayern Munich that may just have effectively decided to Bundesliga title
Leipzig raced out to a 2-0 lead with goals through Benjamin Šeško and Lukas Klostermann in what was one of the most insipid Bayern performances of the season
the Bavarians could not muster the requisite energy or spirit to look anything other than lifeless
However the second half was a different story
A quickfire double put Bayern back on level terms
and Leroy Sané pounced late with a beautiful finish to send Bayern on its way to what would surely be a win...until it wasn’t
Leipzig leveled again with nearly the last kick of the game
leaving a number of other Bayern players to rue their near missed chances
What did you think of the individual performances for Bayern
the rundown of the ‘rules’ — as this is a very serious
Bayern Munich came to Leipzig with the opportunity to seal the Bundesliga title
After an exhilarating second-half comeback from a 2-0 deficit
Bayern had the title snatched from under its nose in the 94th minute
While goal difference means that Bayer Leverkusen will likely need to score 30+ goals in only three matches to stop the party in Munich
Harry Kane will have to wait at least one more matchday before he’s able to celebrate winning his first title officially
Leipzig had several strong performers on the night
with Benjamin Seško scoring a gorgeous goal with the outside of his boot and working hard for the entirety of his time on the pitch
who steals the award away from the Slovenian
assisting Seško’s opening goal and playing a perfectly weighted pass through to Yussuf Poulson to grab the last-minute equalizer
It’s also worth noting that Josip Stanišić and Konrad Laimer put in decent shifts as well
with the ladder managing to do so while playing far out of position at left-back
Two moments of the midfielder’s ball-playing superiority stand out from the first half are a cross-pitch long ball to find Leroy Sané breaking through the Leipzig line in the 10th minute
and a floated cross to the head of a box-lurking Thomas Müller in the 30th minute
While neither of these situations led to goals
Kimmich did capture an assist leading up to an excellent Leroy Sané strike late in the second half
a strong performance from Serge Gnabry is worth noting
with the attacker putting in a decent shift and contributing significantly to the build-up of Sané’s goal
Bayern Munich was crowned Bundesliga champions during a watch party
Bayern Munich shared the spoils with RB Leipzig after a cracking game
which saw Bayern go 2-0 down thanks to goals from Benjamin Šeško and Lukas Klostermann in the first half
The second half saw a rejuvenated Bayern draw level with two successive goals courtesy of Eric Dier and Michael Olise
Bayern seemed to have wrapped the title up after a comet of a shot from Leroy Sané put them ahead in the most incredible fashion
only for Leipzig’s Yussuf Pouslen to level the score and spoil the party
Here are some observations from that rollercoaster of a game
the first half saw a disgraceful performance from Bayern
Bayern seemed like they had no plan for the game
The first Leipzig goal was embarrassing to watch as fans
and put on full display a mortifying error from Jonas Urbig
worsened by a complete lack of communication amongst the defence
The goal set the tone for the half and made exceedingly clear Bayern’s inability to defend against quick counterattacks
Sacha Boey specifically seemed ridiculously out of place every time
The midfield pivot was unable to defend at all
offered too much space to the Leipzig players
and allowed far too many through balls to seep past them
and failed to make anything of the very few chances it managed to create
The constant backpasses evidenced the lack of a desire to win the game
The first half showcased sheer complacency all around
Almost everyone had a detestable first half
The second half brought with it a stark change in the pace of the game
It certainly helped VK that some of the first half’s greatest underperformers were seemingly reborn in the second half
despite the numerous goal contributions the past few weeks
has seen a shaky spell by his own standards
and the first half furthered that sentiment
while the second half put it completely to rest
Sané’s almost title-clinching goal had him reclaim his own story this game
continuing his hot run of form as an extension announcement lurks around the corner
with a better quality of football from the Rekordmeister
Bayern’s direct approach and willingness to take chances again show that the fluff around the box is often pointless and needs to be eradicated from their game
It is also worth noting that Dier’s powerful header came from a non-Kimmich corner
but that’s a separate conversation to be had
Kompany set Bayern in an interesting manner from the get-go
with a lineup nerfed by injuries and absences
the system placed key focus on the flanks sustained by the fullbacks; however
the first half saw neither winger use width effectively or close down the box in the final third
The constant search for a golden chance saw Bayern forgo many silver chances
the very ones they scored from in the second half
which thankfully he more than made up for with his assist to Dier and an equalizer right after
He becomes the first player to hit double digits for both goals and assists this season
establishing a standard of excellence that Bayern needs from all its wingers
Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman both had unremarkable games
The midfield too picked up pace in the second half
was able to maintain possession more comfortably
The newfound resistance to simple counters helped close the running tap of Leipzig opportunities
Joshua Kimmich had a quiet first half but did much better in the second
notably for his incredibly quick and well-executed flick to Sané for Bayern’s third
Kane went through the entire roller coaster of emotions alongside fans
He seemed ready to rush onto the pitch in celebration as the match was seconds away from its end
only to be denied in the cruelest of fashions (as he often has been throughout his career)
No worries: he will be able to seal the deal while on the pitch himself at the Allianz Arena
Davies held another live watchalong on his Twitch channel
and his reactions truly encapsulated all the fans’ emotions over the 90 minutes
it was some truly entertaining football on display
Davies was deeply entertained in all his passion: fans would love more watchalongs as long as Phonzy is out of action
but Bayern have a Meisterschale to etch their name into once again

Bayern Munich is soon going to find itself in an awkward situation with it’s defensive squad
with Eric Dier leaving and Kim Min-jae set to be sold too
a defender that has been on the clubs wish list for some time now may fix this problem
The English club have begun talking to Tah’s management
but Bayern Munich would love to have him too
The center-back still hasn’t confirmed his transfer to Barcelona
and that means there’s still a chance for Die Rekordmeister to win over his signature and add him to a defensive lineup that desperately needs him on it
Well...this will not help the perception that Bayern Munich gets preferential treatment from the DFL
Per Bild (via @iMiaSanMia)
the governing organization granted Harry Kane an exemption to a rule on where a suspended could be 30 minutes before a game and 30 minutes after a match:
the DFL regulations say that he’s not allowed on the pitch ‘half an hour before kickoff and half an hour after the final whistle’
The DFL officials made an exception for Harry Kane today so he could celebrate his first trophy with his teammates
but Leipzig’s late equalizer prevented that
Kane will be on the pitch if Bayern Munich can clinch the title next week vs
is counting down the time for the Englishman to get a chance to snare his first trophy:
It has certainly not been a perfect season for Bayern Munich. Going out in the third round of the DFB Pokal represents yet another embarrassing exit for Die Rekordmeister and exiting the Champions League at the quarterfinal stage is little more than reaching the bare minimum at a club with the sky high expectations of Bayern
But context needs to be applied and the context of Bayern’s trophyless season last year serves to make this season rather good
after Saturday’s 3-3 draw against Rasenballsport Leipzig
Bayern have virtually wrapped up the Bundesliga title
sitting 9 points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen
with the Bayern Pharmaceuticals owned club having just 3 games to make up the difference
Speaking after the match, Bayern president Herbert Hainer spoke of his satisfaction with the season: “We’re not champions yet, but things are looking very good,” Hainer said, as captured by @iMiaSanMia
“We’ve always said that the league title is the most important title because you have to earn it over an entire season
Today we saw again what they’re capable of
we would have liked to have progressed further in the Champions League and the DFB Pokal
the team has played many outstanding games and shown great performances throughout the year
and that’s why we’re looking forward to celebrating the title next week.”
Securing the Bundesliga is the most important task at the moment
Only when it is secured can Bayern turn their attention to next season and perhaps raising expectations even further
Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw with SC Freiburg sees Bayern Munich remain eight points clear with two games to go
meaning the Bavarians have mathematically secured the title
Sporting director Christoph Freund spoke of the pride the whole club feels at returning the Bundesliga trophy to Munich: “The joy of this title is immense: We’ve brought the trophy back to Munich, which is a fantastic feeling and the well-deserved reward for an intense season,” the Austrian said, via @iMiaSanMia
“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
Board member for sport Max Eberl, meanwhile, repeated the importance of this triumph: “Our big and most important goal, the league title, has been achieved,” the former Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director said, again via @iMiaSanMia
“We are delighted with the entire team and our head coach Vincent Kompany – congratulations on this season
Now we look forward to celebrating with the fans on Saturday in the stadium and later at Marienplatz.”
