Tim Merlier made it five victories this year with another powerful sprint that gave absolutely no chance to his opponents in Le Perray-en-Yvelines
It was a dominant victory for the 32-year-old Belgian
who continued his superb start to the season
which has so far seen him take a pair of wins at both the AlUla Tour and the UAE Tour
before his success at the “Race to the Sun”
Soudal Quick-Step was a team on a mission Sunday afternoon
moving to the front of the peloton as soon as a three-man breakaway formed and controlling their gap with the amazing Ayco Bastiaens
who once again delivered a solid effort to bring back the leaders before the race began heating up
On the two small climbs that spiced up the final 16 kilometers
but our teams pulled hard in the peloton together with other squads to make sure the day would come down to a bunch sprint
Tim had his excellent lead-out man Bert Van Lerberghe with him
and after coming out of a tricky bend with 750 meters to go
he waited for the final 200 meters to bolt clear and take his 55th pro victory
“It’s always nice to start a stage race with a victory
It was our goal coming into the race and I’m happy I could deliver it for the boys today and repay them for all their hard work
A couple of teams tried to make the race hard with 70 kilometers to go
then there were a couple of attacks on the final climbs of the stage
chased the leaders in order to bring them back and managed to close the gap
I enjoyed a perfect lead-out and took the win
It feels great to have this start to the race”
a smiling Tim said after his second victory in Paris-Nice

Belgian beats Arnaud Démare and Alberto Dainese in Le Perray-en-Yvelines
dominating the stage 1 sprint in Le Perray-en-Yvelines to take the first yellow jersey
Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) took second but was well-beaten by Merlier
with Alberto Dainese (Tudor) sprinting to third place
It was far from a simple finish for Merlier and the sprinters to navigate with the final 20 kilometres seeing several attacks launched over undulating terrain
the last group that escaped up the road with Josh Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers)
Matteo Trentin (Tudor) and Mattias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) present could only make it to the 2.4km to go mark
a messy lead-out began with no team taking authority after the crucial final right-hand corner with 700 metres remaining
Merlier wasn't directly on his lead-out man
and when he opened up on the left-hand side of the road
"It's always nice to start a stage race and again take victory in Paris-Nice
I'm very proud of it," said Merlier post-race before highlighting the tricky finale to the stage after the break was reeled in early
Visma started to make the bunch really nervous and there was some attacking from Julian [Alaphilippe] and on the second climb for the bonifications
and the team brought me in a good spot last kilometre
One of the most iconic stage races on the calendar
kicked off for its 83rd edition from Le Perray-en-Yvelines
with 156.1km and a likely sprint finish in store
It didn't take long for the break of the day to form
with Alexandre Delettre (TotalEnergies) and Samuel Fernández (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) attacking away just 2km after the neutral start finished
They were joined by breakaway specialist Taco van der Hoorn (Intermarché-Wanty)
they had established more than a two-minute lead
Soudal-QuickStep and Lidl-Trek came to the front of the peloton to ensure the gap didn't get out of control
The gap was kept so tight that Van der Hoorn pulled the pin on his effort
He was reabsorbed into the bunch with 60km to go
with his two fellow escapees only lasting 10km longer until they were also caught
the peloton was nervous for the next 35km and the remainder of the day
resulting in a minor crash for three Ineos Grenadiers riders
The nerves ramped up again at the next crucial moment with 25km to go
when a crucial left turn into the foot of the final categorised climb - Côte de Villiers-Saint-Frédéric (1.2 km at 6.8%) - sparked an all-out sprint from the GC teams to stay in prime position
Visma-Lease a Bike led the peloton and were well placed when Julian Alaphilipped (Tudor) launched the first attack
Matteo Jorgenson followed for the Dutch team and kept the former two-time world champion at bay
There were more attacks as the strung-out bunch raced towards Les Mesnuls
Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain Victorious) blinked first
launching out of the peloton with Jorgenson again following
The Visma rider was closely marked by two American compatriots
Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates-XRG) and Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost)
however the bonuses were decided in a final sprint
Jorgenson was unable to hold off a charging Jhonatan Narváez who took the maximum six seconds for UAE
with four going to the American and the final two going to Ineos Grenadiers' Magnus Sheffield
Ineos were keen to split things and attacked first with Tobias Foss and then Tarling in the final 7km
The Welshman has Trentin for company and Skjelmose bridged across for Lidl-Trek
who had been marking several moves for their sprinter
Soudal-QuickStep and Arkéa all worked to bring them back
catching the trio inside the final 2.5 kilometres
where Merlier was easily the fastest and exploded away from the opposition to open Paris-Nice with a bang

The 83rd edition of Paris–Nice will be held from 9 to 16 March 2025
Known as one of the most historic stage races in cycling
often referred to as “The Race to the Sun,” marks one of the first significant challenges of the 2025 season
It offers an early opportunity for both classic specialists and general classification contenders to demonstrate their form
Spanning eight stages and covering a total distance of 1,206 kilometres
the race starts in Le Perray-en-Yvelines in the Île-de-France region and finishes on the Côte d’Azur in Nice
Key highlights of this first WorldTour stage race on European soil for the new season include a team time trial in Nevers
two summit finishes at La Loge des Gardes and the Auron ski resort
and a demanding final stage around Nice featuring three first-category climbs
The circuit race around Le Perray-en-Yvelines on the opening day might favour the sprinters
provided they and their teams can handle a few short but steep climbs in the final 20 kilometres without incident
potentially offering a prime chance for the top sprinters
the wind could cause hazardous echelon situations
reminiscent of 2019 when the stage also concluded in Bellegarde
and the race was effectively shaped on the Beauce plains
One of the rare team time trials of the 2025 season occurs on day three of Paris-Nice
The route spans a challenging 28.4 kilometres of undulating terrain
starting from the Magny-Cours racetrack and finishing in the city centre of Nevers
the time isn’t taken from the fifth rider; instead
This can result in intriguing tactical scenarios
The first summit finish of the race concludes after 163.4 kilometres and a total ascent of 3,100 metres at La Loge des Gardes
The final ascent is a first-category climb
stretching 6.7 kilometres with an average gradient of 7.1 percent
riders must tackle five additional categorised climbs
The fifth stage is a real haven for puncheurs
They can ignite fireworks in the last 50 kilometres and battle for victory on the final 1.7-kilometre climb of Cote de Notre-Dame-de-Sciez
which features gradients as steep as 18 percent
The longest stage of Paris-Nice stretches over 209.8 kilometres from Saint-Julien-En-Saint-Alban to Berre l’Étang
the natural elements in the Rhône Valley and potential tactical moves could thwart their plans
There’s a good chance that a breakaway group might seize the victory
the route takes a mountainous path over the first-category Col de la Colmiane to a summit finish at the Auron ski resort
This ascent stretches just over seven kilometres with an average gradient exceeding seven percent
The steep final kilometres could prove pivotal in determining the overall winner
The 119.9 km circuit around Nice features the Col de la Porte for the first time since 2010
It kicks off a series of three first-category climbs
including the Côte de Peille and the Col des Quatre Chemins
This creates an ideal backdrop for a thrilling elimination race
making the final day of Paris-Nice exceptionally captivating

Soudal Quick-Step's European champion Tim Merlier beats Arnaud Démare and Alberto Dainese in Le Perray-en-Yvelines
European champion Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) continued his fine run of form by picking up his fifth win of the season on the opening stage of Paris-Nice in Le Perray-en-Yvelines
the Belgian sprinter finished well clear of his rivals
who were led in by Frenchman Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-B&B Hotels)
with Italy’s Alberto Dainese (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) in third place
Winner of the race’s opening stage on his only previous appearance in ‘The Race to the Sun’ in 2023
Merlier fully lived up to his pre-stage status as the day’s favourite
The 32-year-old Belgian jumped across to the left-hand barrier as he opened his sprint with a little more than 200 metres remaining and never looked likely to be caught as he cruised to victory
The success also put him in the race leader’s yellow jersey
The 10-second time bonus he received left him four seconds ahead of Démare and Jhonatan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates-XRG)
is likely to be one the contenders for overall victory this week and underlined his GC intentions by winning the day’s intermediate sprint
Run in mild conditions with very little wind
the racing was still typically fast and nervy
as the opening days of this race always tend to be
Samuel Fernández (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA)
Alexandre Delettre (TotalEnergies) and Taco van der Hoorn (Intermarché-Wanty) broke away right at the start
Their lead maxed out at two-and-a-half minutes and the trio were reeled in 49km from home
the peloton remained tightly compact until the approach to the last of three third-category climbs with 22km left
Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) was the first to accelerate there
with Matteo Jorgensen (Visma | Lease a Bike) quick to follow
The next flurry came at the intermediate sprint at Les Mesnuls with 10km to go
with Jorgensen bagging four and Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers) two for third place
After sorties by Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) and Tobias Foss (Ineos Grenadiers) had been closed down
the latter’s teammate Josh Tarling was the next to try his luck
Joined by Matteo Trentin (Tudor) and with Lidl-Trek’s Mattias Skjelmose tracking them
but never threatened to get out of the peloton’s range and were caught just before the 2km banner
The key then was positioning going into a sweeping left-hand corner with 600m to the line
Soudal Quick-Step ensured Merlier was exactly where he needed to be
and once the Belgian opened up his sprint the result was never in doubt

technical route in which the sprinters will struggle to contain the breakaways on the roads to Le Perray-en-Yvelines
Hello and welcome to the first stage of Paris-Nice
It’s time for one of the highlights of the Spring
and first top tier week-long stage race of the season - Paris-Nice
As followers of past Paris-Nice editions will know
Instead we’re in Le Perray-en-Yvelines
The riders are waiting in the Le Perray-en-Yvelines neutralised zone as we speak
and so teams of sprinters will want to control things for a bunch finish
and therefore not let too strong a group get away
But there are enough hills throughout the day to encourage opportunists to try and get into the day’s break
One of the determining factors to how a Paris-Nice takes shape is how much the wind blows in the opening stages
given how often crosswinds have blown past editions up and put an early end to some riders’ GC bids.
there is no wind - fortunate for GC riders hoping for a straightforward day
but unfortunate for spectators hoping for carnage
Alexandre Delettre and Samuel Fernández are up the road
The peloton has sat up and allowed the three riders to build a lead.
It’s heartening to see Taco van der Hoorn in the break again
The Dutch rider had established himself as a breakaway specialist à la Thomas De Gendt
his powerful engine and resilient attitude bringing him victories in races like the Giro d’Italia
But he’s been struggling for form and fitness for a while following the lingering effects of a concussion suffered almost two years ago
Getting into the break today suggests he’s on the road to recovery
Soudal-QuickStep are working for Tim Merlier
The Belgian has started the season on fire
with four wins already under his belt from the UAE Tour and AlUla Tour
and is the standout sprinter on the Paris-Nice startlist
Soudal are controlling things enough to keep the gap at 2 minutes.
Merlier has just got back into the peloton
He’ll be grateful to get any such misfortune out the way with at this early stage of the race
but is being tightly controlled by the peloton.
The leaders are approaching the foot of Côte de Villiers-Saint-Frédéric
the first of the day’s three official climbs
and thus a place on the podium this afternoon
The gap has fallen a lot as they ride up this climb
Delettre is the early candidate to be in polka-dot colours tomorrow
He took the maximum points at the top of the climb
ahead of Fernández and Van der Hoorn
Also pulling at the front along with Soudal-QuickStep are Lidl-Trek
Pedersen has made a winning start to his season at Tour de la Provence
but was further down in the purer bunch sprints
His team may look to put the purer sprinters under pressure today on the hilly terrain
Today isn’t set to have any impact on the GC race
Jonas Vingegaard is the overwhelming favourite for the victory.
He already has a stage race title to his name this year from Volta ao Algarve
which was the sixth time he has claimed overall victory in his last seven week-long stage race appearances.
The break is being kept on a tight leash.
The break and now the peloton are familiarising themselves with the finish
as they pass through the finish line for the first time
They will return back here in Le Perray-en-Yvelines after just over 100km of racing
It certainly does seem that this breakaway will be competing for the win
They now have only 1 minute on the peloton
Here's Soudal-QuickStep and Lidl-Trek pulling at the front of the peloton
While Merlier and Pedersen’s teams are the most prominent
there are many other sprinters in with a shout of claiming victory today
UAE Team Emirates are a threat in most races they compete in
and in Juan Sebastián Molano they have one of the leading candidates for a sprint
The Colombian was one of Merlier’s biggest challengers at the AlUla Tour
finishing second and third behind him in the sprint finishes
and will hope to get the edge over him this time
1-20 now between the leaders and the peloton
with the Côte des 17 Tournants (1.2 km à 5.5%) coming up in a few kilometres
Arkéa - B&B Hotels’ Arnaud Démare is another to watch
The Frenchman has won three times at Paris-Nice in the past - but not since 2018
having twice sprinted for runner-up finishes at Etoile de Bessèges
The riders are up and over the modest challenge of the Côte des 17 Tournants.
Once again Delettre went over the climb first
ahead of Fernández then Van der Hoorn
The virtual KOM classification is therefore as follows:
Will the leading trio still be out front by then
It's looking a bit of a tall order - they are only 1-10 ahead of the peloton
Here are the three leaders up the road earlier
as they were passing the finish line for the first time
Julian Alaphilippe is one of several having a chat towards the back
Returning to the contenders for the stage win today
Both he and Démare are on 98 career wins
and as things have gone so far this season
the Norwegian looks more likely to reach the hallowed 100 mark sooner based on his start to the season
He already has a victory to his name from Vuelta a Andalucia
Another sprinter approaching a career landmark number of victories is Fabio Jakobsen
been stranded on 49 wins for almost a year
having not added to that tally since the opening stage of last year’s Tour of Turkey
getting in the mix for a 5th and 6th place finish
and still hopes to rediscover his best form
It's now at 17 seconds - the catch might be made soon if they keep this up.
Perhaps anticipating that the catch will soon be made
Fernández has attacked out of the break
Van der Hoorn has sat up and allowed himself to be reabsorbed into the peloton
but Delettre has latched onto Fernández's wheel
That duo is surviving for at least a little longer
Their gap has grown a bit to 30 seconds.
and allowed the gap to back up to 20 seconds
They seem to be reluctant to bring them back too soon
the pace is back up as teams fight for position
there’s a chance for new riders to attack and try to form a new break
while the rolling terrain will encourage strong puncheurs to do so
This could be difficult for the sprinters’ teams to keep controlled
There’s been a rash towards the back of the peloton
All three are back up and riding together to try and rejoin the peloton
It shouldn't be too hard for them to rejoin
using his time trial skills to drag Sheffield and Watson
having sprinted for 5th at Omloop Ht Nieuwsblad
No attacks out of the peloton yet since the break was caught.
One thing the early catch of the breakaway has done is bring bonus seconds at the top of the next climb
Côte de Villiers-Saint-Frédéric
we can anticipate a potential sprint between riders with their eye on the yellow jersey
For a run down of who the main contenders for GC are likely to be, having a read of our piece analysing them.
Big acceleration in the peloton as teams look to lead ahead of a turn into a narrow road
EF Education-EasyPost and Bahrain-Victorious are challenging Visma's position at the front.
Tudor Pro Cycling seem to be setting something up for Julian Alaphilippe
The increase in pace has caused damage further down the road
Kristoff was one sprinter struggling to remain in the peloton on the climb
but it seems we can expect plenty more moves over this finale
There are still the bonus seconds to consider
Kristoff is out the back and trying to bridge up to the peloton
He has a few Uno-X iders waiting up to help him
thanks to help from three teammates.
He was able to rejoin after a slowing of the pace in the peloton
No single team is taking control of the peloton
The top of this climb is where the time bonuses are on offer
This is a very strong group of genuine GC contenders
and they have a gap of a few seconds.
Alalphilippe has dragged the peloton back up to them
Narváez comes past him to claim the maximum seconds
but there's lots of attacks and counter-attacks being made
There's been a crash near the back of the peloton
Skjelmose is one of the top contenders for overal victory
and Tarling a huge engine to help keep this group away
Lidl's priorty must be the stage win via a sprint
Visma have moved to the front of the peloton
UAE have assisted Visma in closing them down
The sprinter teams are winding up their lead-outs with 2km to go
Soudal lead the peloton going into the final kilometre
Soudal lead but Merlier is a little adrift
He had the squeeze through a tight gap between himself and the barrier
his lead got bigger and bigger until the finish line
Arnaud Démare says he's dissappointed in a snap post-race interview
but 2nd place is very good result for him given the tough times he's had of late
This is Merlier's 5th win of 2025 already - which is more than any other rider (yes
Merlier will therefore swap his white European champion's jersey for the yellow leader's jersey tomorrow.
defending champion is already up to 4th overall thanks to the bonus seconds he picked up
That's 4 seconds ahead of most of his GC rivals
One rider nowhere to be seen in the finale was Mads Pedersen
despite all the work done by Lidl-Trek for him
Thanks for joining us today - we'll be back tomorrow for stage two
for what's expected to be a resumption of sprint rivalries in another bunch finish
Be one of the first to try our new activity feed
Defending champion Matteo Jorgenson on move early and picks up bonus seconds to open 'Race to the Sun.'
On-form sprinter Tim Merlier once again proved his worth on stage one of Paris-Nice
easily winning a big bunch sprint into Le Perray-en-Yvelines Sunday
The Belgian benefited from work by his Soudal Quick-Step team during the stage
sitting poised as the sprint unfolded and then blasting past his rivals to grab victory
Arnaud Démare (Arkéa-B&B Hotels) was second with Alberto Dainese (Tudor Pro Cycling Team) third
U.S. rider Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) got the defense of his Paris-Nice title off to a strong start by collecting 4 seconds in time bonuses during the undulating 156.1km stage
Compatriots Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) and Neilson Powless (EF Education EasyPost) were also very visible in the aggressive finale
A dangerous move by Matteo Trentin (Tudor Pro Cycling)
Matthias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) and Josh Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) nipped clear with 7km to go but these were reeled in just over 2km from the line
Merlier then moved into position and nabbed the opening stage of the race
“It is always a nice way to start a stage race
Things went perfectly for the sprinters but there was some stress before that
“I think from 70km to go Visma started to make the bunch really nervous,” he said
They brought me in a good spot in the last kilometer and then Bert did a perfect leadout.”
The break of the day went inside the first 10km and saw Alexandre Delettre (Team TotalEnergies)
Samuel Fernández (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Taco van der Hoorn (Intermarché-Wanty) build a maximum lead of over two minutes
The teams of Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) and Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) controlled the gap and the move was finally brought back with just under 50km to go
Bahrain-Victorious and EF Education-EasyPost put the hammer down prior to the last of the day’s three climbs
with Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling) attacking on the ascent
Defending Paris-Nice champion Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) went with him and pipped him to the summit
with things then settling down heading towards the bonus sprint with 9.5km to go
Santiago Buitrago (Bahrain-Victorious) surged there in pursuit of the time bonus
Jorgenson went for it but was passed by Jhonathan Narváez (UAE Team Emirates) just before the line
but this plus a subsequent attack by Stefan Küng (Groupama-FDJ) were controlled by the sprinters’ teams
Matthias Skjelmose (Lidl-Trek) and Josh Tarling (Ineos Grenadiers) had more luck in opening gap
with the trio holding an advantage of seven seconds with 5km remaining
However this too would fizzle out under the pressure of the chase behind
with the subsequent bunch finish seeing the sprinters tussling for position before launching their effort
Soudal Quick-Step hit the front for Merlier
but other teams swept past close to the line
who powered clear on the left side of the road to capture the stage and the first leader’s jersey
It is his fifth victory thus far this season; does he have his best legs ever

Croda Beauty Actives transition to PFAS-free peptides
Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS)
often referred to as “forever chemicals,” are a group of over 10,000 synthetic compounds used in various products
for their water- and grease-resistant properties
These substances have raised significant environmental and health concerns due to their persistence in nature and potential toxicity.
and 14 PFAS are already prohibited for use in cosmetics due to their carcinogenicity and reproductive toxicity properties
General PFAS restriction is currently under proposal by the ECHA
some states have banned cosmetics containing intentionally added PFAS.
Our company already proudly offers **PFAS-free peptides**
By eliminating substances like TFA (trifluoroacetic acid) from our peptide synthesis process
we prioritize both consumer safety and sustainability
we remain committed to providing innovative solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy.
Calmosensine™ and Idealift™ are already TFA-free and more will be progressively added to this list in the upcoming months to reach PFAS-free status for our entire range of peptides by the end of 2026.

2025 - Stage 1 from Le-Perray-en-Yvelines to Le-Perray-en-Yvelines

2025 - Stage 4 from Vichy to La Loge des Gardes

Two summit finishes and classic mountainous finale give climbers chances to strike back
The 83rd edition of Paris-Nice will feature three stages for the sprinters
three summit finishes and one final showdown stage through the mountains of Nice on its 1,206-kilometre course
But arguably the most eye-catching feature
this time over an extremely rolling 28.4 kilometre route and with a short but painfully steep climb mid-way through
Although a Cat.1 summit finish the following day at Loge des Gardes the next day will switch the GC focus to the high mountains
in 2025 the team time trial could once again have a pivotal role to play in the final outcome
March 9 at Perray-en-Yvelines on the south-west edge of Paris
stage 1's rolling finale might see a late breakaway ambush the sprinters' teams
Then 24 hours later the risk of crosswinds will be on everybody's minds during stage 2's repeat of the Paris- Nice 2019 trek to Bellegarde across the highly exposed plains of Beauce.
But if several GC contenders will likely fall foul of the multiple early Paris-Nice challenges
as ever the winner of the Course au Soleil will likely be decided in the final two stages of the race
held in the Alpes-Maritimes mountains of south-east France
Stage 7's ascent to Col de la Colmiane and final summit finish at the cat
1 climb of Auron was cancelled last year because of poor weather conditions but is back on the menu for 2024
the last day through the mountains in the Nice hinterland
1 climbs packed into a short but very intense 119-kilometre stage
is even more fraught with potential perils for the GC men
Stage 8 culminates in the same ultra-hard ascent
the Col des Quatre Chemins (3.6km at 8.8% and with segments at 16%) where Matteo Jorgenson (Visma-Lease a Bike) put the finishing touches to his overall victory in 2024
The race concludes as ever a few kilometres later on
breakneck descent back down to the coast at Nice
Stage 1 of the 2025 Paris-Nice kicks off the race with a lumpy
in which the sprinters will struggle to contain the breakaways
In the end, it was the sprint teams who won out on the opening day, with Tim Merlier (Soudal-QuickStep) securing a high-speed victory to take the first yellow jersey of the race
Stage 2 is seriously exposed and could well see the traditional echelons forming on the flat plains of northern France
Overall differences at the top end of today's crunch team time trial will likely be small
but they could well see some significant differences between the GC favourites if their squad is not up to scratch in this keenly anticipated stage.
The first summit finish of 2025 Paris-Nice and when combined with the multiple previous minor ascents and potential rough weather
The race's half-way point and by now a first clear GC contender at the top of the overall rankings should have emerged
A stage for the breakaways or a stage for the GC
This could get very tough in the second half of the course
with a series of brutally steep little climbs and a second uphill finish in as many days
but cross-winds could yet have their effect on the last flat stage of the 2025 race
For all it's less than 150 kilometres long
the climbing starts at km 20 and then never stops on the toughest single stage of the race
and with the hardest summit finish of the 2025 edition
it will provide another major GC sort-out.
All of these climbs have featured multiple times in Paris-Nice
with the Col d'Eze one of the most emblematic of the entire race
and the finale of this stage with the ultra-steep Col des Quatre-Chemins was key to overall victory for Matteo Jorgenson last year
spectacular finale to the 2025 edition of the Race to the Sun

Women’s Tour de France will also start from Britain
Paris: The 2027 Tour de France will start in Edinburgh with the first three stages taking place in Scotland
the organisers ASO announced at a ceremony in the Scottish capital on Wednesday
The women’s Tour de France will also start from Britain in 2027
This will be the third men’s start from the United Kingdom but the two previous Grand Departs both took place in England
making these the first stages ever to be raced in Scotland and Wales
The first two stages of the 2007 edition were in London with Yorkshire hosting the start of the 2014 race
the Grand Depart of the 2014 race attracted 3.5 million spectators to the roadside as two stages took place in Yorkshire
“The popular success was absolutely phenomenal,” Tour director Christian Prudhomme told AFP
Prudhomme said setting off from the “magical city” of Edinburgh was something he had in mind for some time but its remoteness had worked against it
“Scotland was already a candidate against Yorkshire for 2014 and one of the major differences at the time was the distance from France,” said Prudhomme
there have been new UCI regulations which mean that
The ASO organisers used the exemption in 2022 for the start in Copenhagen instead of a Saturday
They will use it again in 2027 to start on Friday July 2
2027 for three complete stages on British soil
Details of the cities have yet to be revealed
but the peloton will head straight for England
where the second stage will also take place
July 4 will visit Wales for the first time
the architects of the route will “use the hills and very steep gradients so that the favourites in the general classification will be shoulder to shoulder”
devoted to the transfer of the peloton to France
While the 2025 Tour de France will start in Lille
the Edinburgh start will mark the fifth foreign start in six years
Prudhomme says he is “proud” of these international starts
which he believes not only help to “raise the profile” of the Tour and of France
but also generate a lot of money for ASO - around six million euros ($6.5 million) for Bilbao and Florence
This departure from Scotland will also help to breathe new life into British cycling
after two hugely succesful decades that spawned three Tour winners in Bradley Wiggins
The once-dominant Ineos team is in a slump
not helped by losing star British rider Tom Pidcock in December
and from 2026 the public will no longer be able to tune into the Tour de France on free-to-air television
This is also the reason why the women’s Tour de France will be hosted by the United Kingdom in 2027
The cities and dates have yet to be confirmed
with the start scheduled for the weekend following the finish of the men’s Tour

What are the school holidays in Dubai for 2025-26
ATM 2025 Dubai kicks off today: Here's what to expect
Warriors down Grizzlies to reach NBA playoffs
the picture of the races that still have to present the route of the 2025: it's up to the Paris-Nice reveal their route for the next edition
The good dates are the 9 and 16 March, respectively the beginning and the end of the race which last year saw the success of Matteo Jorgenson. In 8 stages scheduled, one more than the almost contemporary one Tirreno-Adriatico 2025 (scheduled instead from 10 al 16 March)
there is room for all tastes: to be precise 3 stages for sprinters
a type of fraction that always divides the audience of enthusiasts and professionals
Stage 1 (March 9): Le Perray-en-Yvelines – Le Perray-en-Yvelines (156,5 km) Stage 2 (March 10): Montesson – Bellegarde (183,9 km) Stage 3 (March 11): Circuit Nevers Magny-Cours – Nevers (28,4 km
team time trial) Stage 4 (March 12): Vichy – La Loge des Gardes (163,4 km) Stage 5 (March 13): Saint-Just-en-Chevalet – La Cote-Saint-André (196,5 km) Stage 6 (March 14): Saint-Julien-en-Saint-Alban – Berre l'Étang (209,8 km) Stage 7 (March 15): Nice – Auron (147,8 km) Stage 8 (March 16): Nice – Nice (119,9 km)
Among the still 'mysterious' races is the Giro d'Italia 2025
whose path is apparently not unknown to the teams and riders
who are in fact already deciding their own program
which at the official presentation of the Movistar Team outlined the main lines of his next season
which I haven't been able to do for a while
Tour of the Basque Country and maybe even to the Vallone Arrow and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège"
But he wants to do things in a big way: even at the cost of excluding the Giro d'Italia
Another goal of mine will be theEuropean and I hope therefore that the Spain plan that race as best as possible"
two yeses arrive at the Corsa pink: those of Nairo Quintana ed One Rubio
"The Giro d'Italia It's my goal and I know that the team will do everything to get there in the best possible way
We are already preparing well today and the young players are growing visibly"
