made a name for himself a decade ago when his Lafayette-based food-delivery company Waitr became a startup darling he's got a new venture that aims to use artificial intelligence and the expertise of local business leaders to help more founders achieve success is a collaboration between Meaux and former Baton Rouge Business Report Publisher Rolfe McCollister They've created an online platform called Solomon where successful business owners upload business advice and stories from their experience as entrepreneurs QiMana subscribers can query the database of "luminaries" that then uses AI to provide personalized insights based on the collected expertise "What's missing from the entrepreneurial ecosystem is an organized and systemized way for startup business owners to get the coaching they need to be successful," Meaux said He noted that businesses that go through local accelerators QiMana came out of a conversation Meaux and McCollister had in 2019 when they talked about how they were regularly getting requests for help from fledgling entrepreneurs but they didn’t have enough time to give advice but Meaux said it needed to be something different if he was going to ask people to pay for it when Meaux was advising a mentee at Loyola University’s Wolf Pack LaunchU startup boot camp he heard something from one of the other advisers that was a “light bulb moment.” it shows how you tackled the same challenges.” Solomon is different from large language model AI chatbots such as ChatGPT because it taps into a specific knowledge base Meaux said if you ask ChatGPT how to start a business it will give you a step-by-step list of basic functions like how Meaux talked to 1,000 potential users and 100 restaurants to validate his idea for Waitr it was acquired by Texas billionaire Tilman Fertitta including 400 in its Lafayette corporate offices But the business struggled following the acquisition of Bite Squad The company changed its name to ASAP and tried to move into general delivery service bringing customers everything from auto parts to sporting goods QiMana is signing up customers to be part of the beta test of the Solomon platform and lining up experts to fill out the knowledge base The plan is to release select access to beta customers at the end of February and launch the service sometime in the first quarter Meaux said he hopes to have 25 to 50 "luminaries" as part of the program Entrepreneurs will pay $30 a month to have access They can also book private counseling sessions with mentors for an additional fee The service will pay the experts when their information is accessed like how Spotify pays royalty fees to musicians when a subscriber listens to one of their songs "So this will incentivize not only education for the Solomon brain but it will encourage luminaries to come back and provide additional information," he said Meaux and McCollister have put in their own money to launch QiMana but Meaux said he hopes once the service launches "We know how to scale this to do what we want," he said Meaux isn’t the only Louisiana tech veteran who is experimenting with AI many familiar faces are applying AI technology to their areas of expertise in the hopes of bringing successful startups to market who sold his research tech company Lucid in 2021 for $1.1 billion his 4-year-old Dungeons & Dragons platform managing director of Revelry StartUp Studio is developing AI tools to speed up the process of launching a new venture led by Idea Village founder Tim Williamson is building AI-powered tools to help build human connections “Everybody is using AI to solve problems they had in the past and trying to build a business out of it,” Williamson said Meaux has a lofty goal for QiMana: He wants the service to improve the number of startups that stay in business "Even if we get 1 or 2% more of businesses to succeed that would have an economic impact on our communities," he said Staff writer Rich Collins contributed to this report Email "I do want to stay engaged in the industry at some level "I'd like to use my expertise as we continue to try to ensure housing stays relevant for a lot of our citizens Veterans are near and dear to my heart and on both housing and mental health issues the housing market is seeing younger clients stepping in while its Dallas counterpart gave out $2 million in 2024 BEST MORTGAGE COMPANIES TO WORK FOR IN 2025 The lenders at the top of this year's ranking discuss how they attract and support top talent with financial incentives Please email comments to letters@livingchurch.org who will become the ninth Bishop of West Missouri on May 3 looks forward to participating in the diocese’s ministries and hunger for following Christ “West Missouri has such an openness to serve whether that’s expressed in radical hospitality “Anytime a community is that open to the gospel the Spirit has an opportunity to take off and soar The Diocese of West Missouri has 47 parishes and 8,800 members One challenge of West Missouri is its size: 37,000 square miles, with Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City There are parishes with harvest festivals and parishes with Pride festivals that people can work together in their shared desire to serve God “It’s finding that common ground to follow Jesus,” she said She’s particularly hopeful about youth ministry “Adults are willing to put aside those differences to bring young people together to grow into that commitment to Jesus,” she said She hopes to continue the diocese’s annual pilgrimage to the location of 1906 Easter lynchings in Springfield “I’m invested in learning about the history of racial division — and reconciliation,” she said She has been dean and rector of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Little Rock, Arkansas, since 2020. She’s proud of adding a community garden on a vacant plot the cathedral owned, in partnership with the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance She said vestry members considered selling the lot and using the funds to support the cathedral but they realized that using it to help the community was a higher priority “It was a great example of a creative response to mutual need,” she said This is something she wants to encourage: how can the diocese work with and for its neighbors What can it address using the resources and space it already has “My first hope is to empower and strengthen our congregations for their ministries Congregations begin to understand their life within their communities and have a sense of vitality,” she said Another aspect of that is responsible maintenance and stewardship of parish resources began to work with congregations on how to keep their older buildings sustainable Meaux hopes to help congregations seek grants from outside of the Episcopal Church “Communities don’t want historic properties to go away either,” she said adding that churches that use their spaces for secular purposes She knows this is a difficult moment for American religion “We’re all facing challenges as we’re becoming the church in this new way of doing church in the 21st century,” she said But she also knows God is there for the church “I could not have been in this process with West Missouri without the presence of the Holy Spirit,” she said Meaux was ordained to the priesthood in 2002 by Charles E Before serving as cathedral dean in Little Rock she was rector of Trinity Episcopal Church in Danville and served parishes in Texas and Louisiana not only from the churches I’ve served but the churches that have served me,” she said noting she’s been in the church all her life (and an Episcopalian since she was 11) in humanities and social thought from Northwestern State University in Louisiana Greta Gaffin is a freelance writer based in Boston She has a master of theological studies degree from Boston University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Every second that drained from the clock felt like forever for Comeaux football The Spartans were in a battle with North Vermilion on Oct The Spartans and Patriots exchanged leads throughout the game never letting the crowd get too comfortable "Coach typically can't hear us on the sidelines but at that game he said Like there was no missing y'all,'" Comeaux quarterback Sean Brinkhaus' mom Ashley Broussard said "There were times we were almost too loud and the players could barely hear the coaches." The boisterous Spartan crowd and the desperation to win dragged this game to the wire The Spartans had the lead going into the fourth quarter but the Patriots' run game became too much to handle as every carrier moved the chains and drained the clock Despite the Spartan crowd's relentless cheers the win slipped from Comeaux's grasp as it did all season long Comeaux football has ended the year without a win finishing the 2024 season with a 0-10 overall record Losing has become a theme for the Spartans who hold one of the longest losing streaks in the 337 having lost 32 consecutive games dating back to 2021 Second-year coach and Comeaux alum Marquis Newsome isn’t a stranger to building programs from the ground up The task to rebuild isn’t always pretty and with the Spartans the road has been bumpy with losses scattered across it making it even easier for doubt to creep in but we see ourselves far more greater than they may see us,” Comeaux senior defensive end Noah Ford said “Even though we didn’t win any games we still pushed and were striving to exceed those expectations that our coach has for us.” Most may still doubt the Spartans after this year’s finish but not everyone A group of Comeaux moms nicknamed the Meaux Moms are keeping hope alive in the Spartans program the Spartans wouldn’t be able to still hold their heads high heading into the offseason When Brinkhaus started playing football for the Spartans three years ago Broussard went to every game and immediately noticed a lack of parental involvement Communication with parents was little to none and it carried over to her son’s baseball season where things finally reached a boiling point earlier this year “The kids didn't even get to eat lunch before they put them on the bus to a game up at Sam Houston over Easter break,” Broussard said This issue made Broussard want to take action to form what would become Comeaux’s official booster club and advocate for its athletic programs: the Meaux Moms Broussard and the Meaux Moms got into contact with the school’s Lafayette Parish School Board representative Kate Labue starting a rapport that led to the Spartans receiving new uniforms and equipment for the first time since 2017 “I think people just didn't realize that they could reach out to her and ask her for things." the Meaux Moms helped spark a big growth of parental involvement for Comeaux football he typically handled all the off-the-field stuff himself on top of teaching math at Comeaux "This year is a different story,” Newsome said About 10 moms and one grandmother make up the Meaux Moms group which handles just about all of the behind-the-scenes operations for the team “These ladies take care of all the before-the-game meals all the posters and advertisements you see around — they did that,” Newsome said they have somebody handing out water and they raise a lot of money for the kids They're doing a hell of a job of stepping up to the point where these kids are asking The Meaux Moms spared no costs to show the Spartans this season they are deserving of this kind of support cheering on the Spartans despite the result never going in their favor “Every game and like every Friday people would say we’re gonna lose instead of believing in us ” Comeaux junior defensive tackle Braylon Thomas said They’re crazy about their children and about the team.” Despite the growing parental involvement in Comeaux football a collective chip remains on the Spartans' shoulders as they continue to struggle on the field They play in a tough district league loaded with athletes who are likely to play on Saturdays next fall the Nishs — this area is I think the best talent I’ve seen from Carencro on past Morgan City,” Newsome said “So you're going to have to compete every day There’s no days off in this district and having Jims and Joes makes a difference.” the Spartans may not have come away with a win this year but they become a part of something bigger “A lot of the kids that play are maybe not the star player or like my kid whose first time playing football was his freshman year at Comeaux,” Binkley said “He was trying to do powerlifting and the coach was recruiting boys he thought would have potential.” For senior middle linebacker Dayton Broussard who has played varsity for the Spartans all four years he was able to learn lessons beyond the gridiron and beyond the losses “I think I learned a lot about becoming a man like just starting to realize my responsibilities and what I really need to do to grow up,” Dayton Broussard said a lot of anger issues and stuff like that but coach Newsome and just playing with this team really helped me with that.” Shannon Belt covers high school sports and the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns for The Daily The Roissy Meaux-Airshow 2025 promises to be an unforgettable experience for all aviation enthusiasts and families in search of discovery This year, the town of Meaux is organizing not one, but two Easter egg hunts on Sunday April 20 You can choose between the Jardin Bossuet or the Parc Chenonceau to take part in an egg hunt and a host of activities for children there's sure to be a hunt to please the whole family In the Seine-et-Marne department, Meaux is the place to be for an egg hunt, at Jardin Bossuet or Parc Chenonceau to celebrate the 42nd anniversary of this popular event Museum of the Great War it's a good 50 kilometers between the French capital and the Pays Briard in the Seine-et-Marne département if you want to pick up your Brie de Meaux straight from the farm helmet and sun cream ready and head for Meaux recognizable by its pretty Saint-Etienne cathedral (and its bell tower) After having covered the distance with the strength of my legs it is necessary to inform you that the course is not completely linear the GPS indicated a 3-hour ride: in the end as I wanted to follow the canal as far as possible from the towpath you have to cross a departmental road and use a towpath even though cycling is forbidden on the path (despite the fact that many cyclists use it) And this will be the case for the rest of the journey: there's still a good twenty kilometers to go and there's no further signposting to Meaux but you have to continue along the towpath the path sometimes alternates between slightly stony and less smooth stretches: this is also something to bear in mind before you set off I decided to continue pedaling on the secondary road indicated by my GPS before changing my mind in view of the beautiful hill that awaited me.. And the small chainring my bike is equipped with I end up leaving the towpath a little later because the time on my GPS keeps increasing and I'm afraid it'll take me 5 hours to cover the distance (the canal isn't a straight line I've got about 7 kilometers of road to cover bearing in mind that the roads I've taken aren't dangerous or difficult to take I'd advise you to proceed in this way if you don't have too much time to waste You'll arrive in Meaux a few kilometers further along the cycle path you're more or less on your own with your GPS so don't hesitate to shorten the route by opting for a roadside section especially if you're only doing the outward journey from Paris The scenery is magnificent and the cycle path very pleasant to use so I'd recommend it for a day of good weather Meaux has many points of interest, including the Grande Guerre museum, the Palais Épiscopal, the Bossuet garden.. you can always pedal back - which will make for a great day at over 100 kilometers - or opt for a return trip from Meaux station on the Transilien line P (arriving at Gare de l'Est) stands in front of his creation after taking it for a spin His creation became a Hot Wheel replica in early 2024 To access content, please login or purchase a subscription The Jardin Bossuet is said to have been imagined in the 1640s by André le Nôtre, famous for designing the gardens at the châteaux of Vaux-le-Vicomte and Versailles the garden covers an area of 8,500 m² and features four flower beds and a central fountain Seen from the air, the shape of the gardens is reminiscent of the bishop's mitre, the headgear traditionally worn by bishops.
