Belépés TámogatásSecret neo-Nazi event near Budapest raided by police and tax authorityEnglish
Performers at the concert on 21 December – Photo by Shahin Ostovar / FacebookIstván Dezsényi (translation)Dezső AndrásA neo-Nazi party was held in a warehouse in Budaörs on 21 December last year
The location was kept secret by the organisers until the very last minute
The property was rented under the cover of the Nordic Sun Cultural Foundation supposedly to shoot a film
not only did neo-Nazis from abroad show up but so did dozens of police officers
as well as officials of the National Tax Authority and the local government office
As reported by Telex last autumn
an unregistered label organised a neo-Nazi concert for the longest night of the year
Tickets for the concert were only available in advance
but the exact venue was not disclosed by the organisers
Those who purchased tickets were later notified by email of the secret location
The NSRB invited two anti-Semitic bands from abroad to the concert
They are a black metal band from Greece and represent the so-called NSBM (National Socialist Black Metal) movement
It is a subgenre of black metal that openly promotes national socialism
The other band chosen to perform was Sunwheel
a Polish black metal band also associated with the NSBM movement
it seemed that it would take place in Budapest
the organisers decided on a venue in Budaörs
The warehouse in Budaörs was rented by the Nordic Sun Cultural Foundation
The Nordic Sun Cultural Foundation is also behind Nordic Sun Records Budapest
which was registered a few years ago and with a headquarter in the village of Nagybörzsöny
seemingly hasn't got anything to do with the far right
although it is closely linked to the Hungarian branch of the international Blood & Honour far-right neo-Nazi network
Blood & Honour is a neo-Nazi music promotion network and far-right political group founded in the UK by one of the first skinheads
The organisation is banned in several countries (Germany
The British government imposed financial sanctions on the organisation in January this year under the anti-terrorism legislation
The asset freeze was extended to all associated groups
no one in the UK is allowed to provide funding or financial services to the named organisations
The documents relating to the foundation used to cover the Hungarian branch of the organisation
do not clarify what exactly is being promoted
the objective of the Nordic Sun Cultural Foundation is to promote acceptance and understanding between European nations and to defeat chauvinism – primarily through pop music publications
"We believe that getting to know each other's cultures helps break down walls and that more Europeans are going to realise that there is much more that unites us than divides us," reads their founding document
the foundation was used as a kind of front for the organisers
The organisers' efforts to keep the location secret until the last minute is understandable
The event was expected to attract mostly neo-Nazis from abroad
and the authorities tend to become aware of such gatherings and try to prevent them from taking place
This is also true in countries to the west of us
they are trying to keep neo-Nazis under tight control
In a report on the Blood & Honour Hungária website
a member of the organisation complained that in Germany and Austria
the police 'visit certain citizens at a time close to the date of an event which is not pleasing to the authorities
and ban them from leaving their place of residence without giving any reason'
Sometimes these individuals are intercepted when checking in at the airport. They often try to meet in neighbouring countries, for example in October 2023 Austrian neo-Nazis held their networking meeting in Sopron, Hungary
If they go to a country where the organisation is not banned
the authorities have only one option: to disrupt and prevent the event through different means
Police officers at the concert venue on 21 December – Photo by Shahin Ostovar / FacebookThe police checked everyoneA similar thing may have happened at the Budaörs event
because despite the organizers' efforts to keep the event a secret
the concert venue was raided by dozens of police officers who checked the participants' IDs
The police were accompanied by representatives of the National Tax Office and the local government office
who carried out checks and thus hindered the concert
pictures and videos on the Internet show that the concert was still held in the end
the tax authorities initiated proceedings against the company that operated the bar during the concert
It is reported that they even confiscated the inventory of the drinks bar
We contacted the company operating the bar to ask for details
it was not only the company operating the bar that got their fingers burnt at the concert: the Nordic Sun Cultural Foundation
We understand that the inspectors found fire safety deficiencies
and allegedly said that there was no clearly marked designated escape route
The Hungarian branch of the organisation is also organising a concert for early February
as the organisers have to try to evade the authorities
but it is not bad business: according to some sources
the tickets for the party in Csömör cost 100 euros
it is important for Hungarians to host events in order to build international relationships
as this allows them to be an active part of the European far-right network
which is much stronger and more influential than the Hungarian one
becoming a meeting place for the European far right is much less fun
Not only can the presence of members of such organisations instil fear in people
but it also attracts the neo-Nazis' enemy
The activity of the latter is already as much a challenge to the Hungarian authorities as that of the neo-Nazis
It is memorable that between 9-11 February 2023, antifascists attacked strangers in Budapest on five separate occasions – mainly based on their clothing
Four people were seriously and five slightly injured in the attacks
The three suspected perpetrators were arrested on 11 February
One of them was Ilaria Salis, a 40-year-old Italian primary school teacher, whose trial started in Budapest last May. The process did not go through, however, because Salis was put in a top position on the EP list of an Italian far-left party and after receiving enough votes, she became a member of the European Parliament
The Hungarian government has since asked for Salis' immunity to be lifted so that she can be sent back to prison
On the same day last February when the above attacks took place, far-right extremists also attacked left-wing counter-protesters. However, while the former incidents were classified by the police as acts of violence against members of a community
the attacks of far-right activists on anti-fascists and passers-by were classified only as acts of assault and battery

Home » BMW 530d Touring Becomes Emergency Vehicle In Hungary
BMW’s practical Touring models are well-suited for special tasks and these spacious wagons have been part of police fleets for many years
There have also been quite a few turned into emergency vehicles for other purposes
Hungary has taken delivery of a new 530d Touring to use for 24-hour emergency care in the Budaörs and Törökbálint areas
the large wagon comes fitted with the same life-saving equipment you’ll find in an ambulance
including instruments and medicines for patients in need of urgent care
In one of the official images released by the automaker’s Hungarian press department
we notice a defibrillator in the cargo area
The 530d Touring has been equipped with the M Sport Package and wears an emergency vehicle livery while the roof hosts emergency lights to make the vehicle more visible
It’s not a loaner but rather a permanent asset for the emergency staff in Budaörs
The diesel-fueled wagon was handed over to those who need it the most during a ceremony held earlier this week in the presence of the mayors of Budaörs and Törökbálint cities
BMW will retire the G31 next year to make room for the new G61. The long-roof version of the next-generation 5 Series is believed to enter production in March 2024. It will once again be offered with gasoline, diesel, and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Rumor has it an electric i5 Touring is in the offing and there also might be a new M5 Touring with a plug-in hybrid V8 making over 700 horsepower
The G60 Sedan will be the first to see the light of production day as BMW insiders claim it’ll hit the assembly line in July 2023
The saloon will also spawn an electric i5 to create the most diverse 5 Series lineup ever
The M5 we mentioned earlier is believed to be the only V8-powered 5er the company will offer

The Soviets provided planes and other equipment to the company
while the crew and airports were provided by the Hungarian state
whose license was purchased by the Russians back in the 1930s
Engineers at the Likhachov aircraft factory slightly modified American plans and produced large numbers of aircraft
These planes were perfectly suited for taking off and landing at poorly equipped grassy rural airports
they did not need a concrete runway and modern controls
they could only take 21 passengers on board at a time
supplemented by five more three-seater Po-2 aircraft
Domestic air traffic started with these aircraft in 1946
The first flights were from Budapest to Debrecen and Szombathely
and even though its name was Budaörs Airport
the border between Budapest and Budaörs was changed so that the airport went to the capital
The photograph was taken shortly before the handover
even before World War II (Photo: FSZEK Budapest Collection)
the airports did not survive the war unscathed either
in 1945-1946 they first had to be put in order so that they could serve the planes
The launch of flights was not made necessary for economic reasons
the price of tickets was also set for the railway
they could not be more expensive or only a little more expensive than a first-class high-speed train ticket for the same route
the price of a ticket to Debrecen was 110 HUF
as the salary of a civil servant over the age of 40 was around 360 HUF in 1946
The HA-LIA aircraft was launched in Debrecen on 15 October 1946
while the HA-LIB was launched in Szombathely
The first take-off was reported in the 17 October 1946 issue of Uj Szó:
“The engines rumbled at 8.45 when the two huge silver birds rose into the air
The aircraft from Debrecen was flown by two pilots: Nikoláj Szívák
a Hungarian pilot who spent 3,000 flight hours in the air
The plane flies at an altitude of 250 to 500 metres at a speed of 240 kilometres
so the passengers do not feel the slightest inconvenience - The first passenger is a merchant from Budapest who says that this is the first flight of his life
He finds the trip very comfortable and saves a lot of productive time.”
The first plane was solemnly greeted with the Hymn in Debrecen after a 55-minute journey
to Szombathely at 8.15 and 14.20 in the morning
The planes left for Debrecen at 8.10 and 14 o'clock
Passengers board an LI-2 plane in 1946 (Photo: Fortepan/The Hungarian Museum of Science
Technology and Transport/Archive/Negative Library/Hungarian National Museum Historical Picture Gallery
The planes carried not only passengers but also cargo for which speed was important
other county capitals were also included in the network
1864 passengers were transported and 17 tons of cargo were taken to their destination
It does not seem like much today when an aeroplane alone carries so much cargo or three aeroplanes carry so many passengers
The planes took off from Budaörs Airport until 1950
after which Ferihegy was the public airport in Budapest
still with LI-2 aircraft (Photo: Fortepan/Uvaterv)
There had also been round-trip flights from 1954
where it was possible to transfer to another flight via some airports
and this year the Hungarian state bought out the Soviet share in the company
and from 1954 it continued to operate under the name MALÉV
the domestic network was becoming less and less sustainable
less well-equipped airports have been dropped from the network
Domestic flights were only launched to help out the deteriorating post-war transport network
The flights were popular and liked for 20 years
but did not resume after they were stopped

The women’s table tennis team of the Budaörsi Sport Club will participate in the group stage of the European Table Tennis Champions League of the 2022/2023 season in Linares Spain on 7th and 8th September
During these two days the current Hungarian champion will face the Greek Panthinaikos the Austrian Bodensdorf and the host team the Spanish champion Linares
The goal of SH-ITB Budaörsi SC is to compete for the first spot in the group which would probably require two feats as the Greek and Spanish parties are extremely strong
The team of Budaörs celebrates regardless of the results of the upcoming Champions League matches
In the fall of 2003 Budaörs played its first European cup match and every season after that it participated in one of the European Table Tennis Union’s (ETTU) cup series
The 2022/2023 season is therefore the 20th international appearance in a row for Budaörs
In every country and in every sport it is rare for a sports association to set a goal for two decades and then be able to achieve that this way making its team represent the club the city the sport and the country by participating at the highest level of professional sports
Having performed in 17 countries over the past 19 years the team tried to achieve the best possible results the most exciting trips being the ones to the Azores Islands belonging to Portugal and the three Russian tours to Kazan Taganrog and Tyumen
Everyone who was part of these successes can rightly be proud of the silver and bronze medals of the Champions League the silver medal of the Europe Cup and the bronze medal of the ETTU Cup
Overall however the greatest pride is the constancy of the 20 cup seasons
The fundamental concept of the management of the Budaörsi Sport Club is that only players who are either part of the Hungarian national team or speak Hungarian at a native level can form part of the team
This direction was chosen by the club management for two reasons on the one hand with the aim of being able to professionally help Hungarian table tennis with its activities by enabling the players of the Hungarian national team to play high-level international matches in a domestic association and on the other hand to strengthen the community by being able to talk in Hungarian with each other before during and after the matches
With this attitude the Budaörsi Sport Club really feels that it represents Hungary at the forefront of European table tennis
There were several occasions that could have upset this creed however the club – as it did in the last 19 seasons – starts the current 20th season in accordance with the above-mentioned concept
For this success story to reach its 20th year the club had many partners; thanks to the presidency of the Budaörs Sport Club the Municipality of the City of Budaörs the Hungarian Table Tennis Federation the 2i Kft
the Decathlon the management of the sports hall of Budaörs and of course the sports managers coaches and the players who have been members of the team for the past two decades
The goal of the team at each match is to represent its partners at the highest possible level in Europe
The goal of the table tennis department of Budaörs for the next two years is to maintain its domestic and international success in a manner worthy of the previous years especially in the centenary year of the Budaörs Sport Club in 2024 and to relive the incomparable feeling of its athletes qualifying for the Olympics
The club will do everything to ensure that after Tokyo this can happen again in Paris in 2024
The women’s table tennis team of Budaörs has proven with its results professional concept and perseverance in the past nearly 20 years that it represents a value that is worth supporting
In order for the association to be able to achieve the its goals and maintain this high level it is essential for new partners to be involved in addition to the current sponsors
The Budaörsi Sport Club celebrates its 20th appearance on the European level as a real festivity
The European Table Tennis Union (ETTU) is the governing body of the sport of table tennis in Europe
and is the only authority recognized for this purpose by the International Table Tennis Federation
The ETTU deals with all matters relating to table tennis at a European level
including the development and promotion of the sport in the territories controlled by its 58 member associations
and the organization of continental table tennis competitions

The area is located south of the valley of the Hosszúréti stream
It also extends into Budaörs slightly and is bordered by the 22nd District from the south
as it is part of the southernmost hills of South Buda
formerly swampy areas that were often covered with water
its surroundings have been inhabited since the Carpathian Basin's Hungarian conquest
The medieval village of Kána next to Kamaraerdő survived the destruction of the Tartars
it is the largest excavated village from the Árpád Era
Some of its rich artefacts can be seen in the Budapest History Museum
Kána stood on the site of today's Kőérberek
The name Kamaraerdő (Chamber Forest) comes from it being a forest estate of the Kincstári Kamara (Treasury Chamber) and became official in the 18th century
The area can be reached from the city centre by tram 41
It is worth arriving it by tram because it is the only tram in Budapest
which crosses the city limits on the one hand
and passes the beautiful lakes of Kőérberek on the other
and also passes along the Hosszúréti stream that flows into the Danube in the northern part of Kamaraerdő
The experience is similar to travelling on a light railway
but the old UV trams did add more to the experience
The view of Gellért Hill and its surroundings during the ascent is magnificent (Photo: Dávid Palotás/pestbuda.hu)
the green dash trail leads straight to the eastern end of Kamaraerdő
from where the ruins of the Benedictine monastery on the hilltop are just a 2-minute detour
allow visitors to imagine what the view might have been for believers stepping out of the church
The ruins with traces of the view in the background (Photo: Dávid Palotás/pestbuda.hu)
The constituent tree species are mainly Turkey Oaks
The undergrowth is therefore relatively rich; cornelian cherry
barberry and hawthorn can be seen everywhere
which are common sights during quiet walks
the dilapidated buildings of the former radar station are not far away
but the area will hopefully be recultivated soon
Several educational trails can be interesting to visit with small children because there are quite high-quality diagrams and tasks at the stations
It is no coincidence that competitions in district nurseries and primary schools are organized here.
environmental demonstrations with several fireplaces

the blue M trail leads to the southern end of Kamaraerdő
it’s worth visiting the modern water tower
and the size of the water pool is also impressive
It is illuminated with blue lights and can be seen from a great distance
its decorative lighting has not been turned on in recent years
despite the author's opinion that there may be demand for it
The water tower (Photo: Dávid Palotás/pestbuda.hu)
which exhibits public works of art from before the fall of socialism
is a few minutes walk from the water tower
Some of these are the famous Osztapenko statue or a piece of the demolished Stalin statue's boots
The platform itself has been reconstructed separately
and a retro exhibition and showroom have been added to the park
making it a fairly high-quality showroom in Europe

A column marking the old city boundary can be reached west from the water tower following the green T trail
The column now marks the district boundary

The path leads to the edge of Kamaraerdő and the border of the Tétényi plateau
There is so much to see on Tétényi plateau that these will be detailed in an upcoming article
The trail leads back to the Nagyrét, following the blue M trail in the other direction visitors can reach the Kamaraerdei Ifjúsági Park (Youth Park)
The locale hosts many events and mini-festivals
It is worth a visit; the retro buildings in the middle of the forest have a unique atmosphere
it is a few minutes walk to the most modern curling track of Hungary and perhaps of the entire Carpathian Basin
A paintball court and a shooting range can be found not far from here towards the airport
which holds demonstration days and concerts several times a year
There is also a go-kart track at Madárhegy and a plastic ski resort at the Keserűvíz springs
The sports centre and swimming pool in Kőérberek are within walking distance too
Those interested in archaeology can visit Kána and the Roman Vicus Teuto built in the valley
The objects found are exhibited in the Archaeological Museum of Budaörs
Excavations are also carried out periodically along the Hosszúréti stream due to the many unresearched areas
free sports courts and riding stables along the creek
This was just a taste of Kamaraerdő and its closer area
and the area holds excitement for everyone

the suburban train fleet was extremely old by the 1960s
and demand for new vehicles increased constantly
Old trains such as this one were still running on the Csepel line in 1951 (Photo: Fortepan
the operator of the suburban railway lines
but the company called Budapest Suburban Railway
Thus engines and other necessary electrics were imported from the GDR.
The two completed prototypes were first tested on the Budaörs-Törökbálint line in 1963
In January 1965 articles appeared in the press promising that all trains would be replaced with the new M-IX (now commonly referred to as MIX) trains by the end of the year
The new trains were expected to reduce travel time making suburban connections high-speed railways
New trains appeared in regular circulation on the Csepel line at the end of November 1965
the newspaper Népszabadság reported on the new trains:
Many sources claim that MIX trains have operated on the Csepel line since January 1963
in 1965 the contemporary press hailed the trains as novelties
One of the biggest novelties of the new trains was their many doors
8 sets of wide doors allowed quick passenger changes
Contemporary articles claimed that the train was could accelerate to a speed of 50–60 kph within a hundred meters
The modern trains significantly improved travel conditions in the 1960s
as the bodies were built in the BHÉV workshop
mass production happened in MÁV's Dunakeszi vehicle repair workshop
Most of the trains operated on the Csepel line for 30 years and were retired between 1994 and 1997
their bogies were replaced with new ones similar to those on trains purchased from the GDR in the 1970s
They were also given square headlights and a new uniform green paint job
their type designation changed to MIXa.
They also remedied an early problem: due to the coil spring suspension
the carriages rocked so much that the tilting windows sometimes opened on their own
the maximum opening angle of the windows was limited
Sliding windows were installed during the renovation.
Passengers on the new trains on the Csepel line (Photo: Fortepan/No.: 178435)
The first MIX train to be retired was donated to the Municipal Public Transport Museum in Szentendre
The seven remaining members of the fleet still serve the Csepel line
The trains were also used on the Szentendre line for a short time
An old carriage (Photo: Fortepan/No.: 178864)
One of the still operational so-called “large-units” composed of motor coaches 831-616-832 and 825-613-826
was painted back to its original light cream and green livery for the 125th anniversary of suburban railways operating in Budapest in 2012
A “large-unit” of six cars consists of two motorcoaches
A motorcoach also consists of three parts: two cars with engines and carriage between the two
An already renovated train with track number 833 from the BKV website
Sever of the trains are still in service (Photo: BKV.hu)
purchased in the 1970s are not exactly modern either
Each of the MIX trains is well over half a century old
It would seem the time to replace them has come.

Leeds United and Wales youngster Charlie Crew spoke for the first time since it was revealed that England have been chasing his services
Matty Jones revealed last month that England had been “aggressively pursuing” the services of Crew and of Lewis Koumas
Interest from across the Severn Bridge had seemingly cooled since then
but when asked about whether the interest was true
Crew didn’t want to delve into any details
one person who has been heavily involved in the situation has been Jones himself
and Crew was full of praise for the Wales U21 manager
Read more: Niall Huggins opens up on injuries and being forced out of Leeds
“Matty is one of the best managers that I’ve played under
you need to gain confidence from your manager and coaching staff
“We go into every game with a great deal of confidence
it means as much to him as it does to us.”
Crew has played at every level for Wales up to the U21
and while Jones hasn’t managed him at every level
he has been by Crew’s side throughout his early international career
“Matty has shown great support for me back since when I was playing in the Victory Shield
when Brazil came over to play in Denbigh; he’s always been in and around our squad
“The fact he’s shown support from the start of my Wales career gives me even more confidence when I come into camps like this.”
the interest in Crew’s services stem from his good performances with Leeds United
The midfielder made the move to Yorkshire 2022 from Cardiff City
Crew thinks it’s one that’s certainly paid off
but it was one myself and my family felt was right
“We did go back and forth on whether we should go or stay
“I’m really comfortable at Leeds and I’m loving my time up there.”
What comes across clearly when you talk to Crew is that he is someone who shows a tremendous level of maturity
He is very aware of what is going on around him
and that’s something that certainly developed quicker while at Elland Road
“Moving away from family and to a club where I didn’t know anyone
“It definitely has helped me to become who I am
and that’s helped when I’ve moved up the age groups with Wales too
because I can integrate with people and settle in better than if I was back home in a comfortable environment.”
Crew and the rest of the U21 are fully focused on the upcoming qualifiers at home to Iceland and Denmark
and Crew is confident that they can pull of another big result
“You always have to respect your opponents
Iceland will be a very well-drilled and aggressive side
“We’ve done our preparation for the game and hopefully
that will be enough for us to get the job done.”

a few tables overlooked the Small Boulevard – but inside they knew their coffee
they only offered small snacks alongside Nordic-style new-wave coffees
They moved into the larger courtyard space and cuisine has been the dominant factor since 2017
They also began to expand outside Budapest
not only a café and restaurant but also a cultural space where different kinds of events interact
available from opening time until 2pm during the week
where they make Scandinavian-style sourdough bread and pastries
Owner András Gerzsenyi stressed the need for the same quality across the board
Although there are a few such places in the city
he felt that Fekete having its own bakery was an obvious move for the sake of continuity and to accentuate Scandinavian feel
they have just opened an apartment that operates as a lodging under the name Herbarium Noir
Summer food and drinks underpinned by the nor/ma bakery feature coffee specialties such as the Shakerato (950 HUF)
Nitro Cold Brew (1,000 HUF) and Espresso Tonic (1,100 HUF)
while the perfect start to the day is provided by granola
A big favourite among guests is the salmon brioche (1,850 HUF)
green salad and raspberry balsamic vinegar
ideal for lunch if you’re not lingering over brunch
Shakshuka (2,350 HUF) is both lunch and part of a hearty brunch
Now as popular here as the English breakfast
this is served elsewhere as a kind of red tomato-and-pepper stew but Fekete prepares a green variety
courgettes and coriander offsets the fragrant oriental spices
plus there’s egg and feta cheese thrown in
it comes with the house semi-dark sourdough bread
the pancakes (1,650 HUF) aren’t floating in maple syrup but built on a smaller basket of fruit
lashings of fresh fruits-of-the-forest topping and chocolate sauce ensuring that the three stacked on top of each other aren’t dry
In summer it’s a treat to have this seasonal

What comes next will unfortunately be completely different for both patients and doctors
– wrote Tahitótfalu GP Zsombor Magyar in a public Facebook post intended as a farewell after the doctor had to close the doors of the general practitioners’ duty service centre
which had also provided on-duty healthcare to surrounding settlements
I can confidently state that when it came to the most important
and most difficult goal of our duties – saving lives – we had been striving to perform at the highest possible level
In cooperation with the National Ambulance Service (or in its stead
as it was sadly often the case in recent years) we managed to provide first-line care to countless patients in critical condition
immense outrage followed the announcement that as part of the Pest County GP duty system’s on-going restructuring
Tahitótfalu’s on-duty service would cease to operate from February 1 onwards
it’s the Szentendre medical centre that performs on-duty service for the village’s residents
all under the coordination of the National Ambulance Service
the Szentendre centre was already the one operating the duty service on February 1
Zsombor Magyar was still attending to a patient with gastric bleeding in the Tahitótfalu office at three in the morning that day – the GP’s operating license had expired at midnight
“The National Public Health and Medical Office Service called to ask about my plans after midnight
I asked what the ambulance service was planning
but it turned out the National Ambulance Service had no plan either
It was obvious that we would be allowed to stay there until 7 AM despite the expired license” Fortunately
a family member took them to one of Budapest’s hospitals
Outraged, the residents of Tahitótfalu and the surrounding settlements created a Facebook group with the intention of collecting signatures a few weeks ago
nearly three thousand people had signed the petition
Supplemented with a hundred-page document describing the locals’ position
the petition was delivered personally to Fidesz politician Eszter Vitályos
the district’s parliamentary representative
The team behind Tahitótfalu’s civil alliance told our newspaper that they would not stop at this
and signatures are still being collected both online and at signing points throughout the region’s settlements
They went on to add that trusting the strength of the previously unprecedented civil movement in the region
and voice of the thirty-five thousand residents of the region will be able to change the already introduced modification so that the seven municipalities can continue living in the sort of safety they were accustomed to
the duty centre in Szentendre covers roughly twice as many municipalities since February 1
serving orders of magnitude more residents than the previous 35 thousand
The civil movement’s team also drew attention to that besides the significantly increased number of potential patients
distance from the medical centre is also an important factor
The previous duty centre in Tahitótfalu was located right in the middle of its serviced region
and in case of an emergency call or a visit to the office
the longest possible distance – to Visegrád – was 12 kilometres
posing a daunting and time-wise potentially impossible challenge to both patients heading to the clinic and duty personnel responding to emergency calls during evening rush hours and weekend traffic jams
According to residents of the surrounding settlements
the issue is not about people being lazy and unwilling to travel greater distances for care
they are concerned that help may not be able to reach the mountain-side properties – which are often difficult to access due to adverse weather or road conditions – in time
founder of a civil society organisation in the Danube Bend
Both Erik and his wife are Tahitótfalu residents
and both of them struggle with cardiac problems
and there were many instances when the visiting duty doctor ended up calling an ambulance for them
and the vehicle of the duty service could always easily access their location
there had been cases where the ambulance could not reach them
Tahitótfalu GP Zsombor Magyar explained to 24.hu that he considers a nationwide restructuring of the duty system justified by necessity
but he finds the current implementation rather concerning
In Tahitótfalu – as in most places before the gradual introduction of the new system – the GP duty service was organised within a business framework
Magyar does acknowledge that some of the companies
operating hundreds of such duty centres nationwide
would provide services of extremely heterogeneous quality
What the GP takes issue with is the way this transformation is being carried out:
The homogenisation of duty service is being done by reducing the quality where it used to be higher
and slightly improving it where services functioned poorly
There are counties where residents now have to travel further for care
this is not what Zsombor Magyar considers to be the case for Tahitótfalu and its surroundings; here the GP assessed the new system to be “nothing but a setback”
Zsombor Magyar took over the Tahitótfalu duty centre six years ago
Although the National Health Insurance Fund Administration (NEAK) did provide normative support for registered residents
the amount was not enough to maintain the operation
so the municipalities involved decided to pitch in for the financing of the duty service
The system was so underfunded that in the years leading up to the restructuring
it was the municipalities themselves that covered half the amount needed for the duty service’s continued operation
the mayors of the affected municipalities have jointly stated that should the duty centre return to Tahitótfalu
they would continue to financially support the service
and the Tahitótfalu municipality would keep providing the building for free
It’s not only the residents who are worried – Zsombor Magyar is also feeling uneasy
My problem isn’t that my business won’t be able to operate the service any more – I’ll get by without it
as the region is in a very bad situation in terms of ambulance capacity
adding that the National Ambulance Service would call them several times a week to request going to a patient
he recounted an instance when a patient from nearby Kisoroszi was taken to Budapest by an ambulance coming from Nyírbátor
a settlement more than 200 kilometres to the east
there are roughly half as many ambulances as needed
or it’s that the ones that are available are too far away
it has been common for ambulances to take 60-80
but in some cases 120 minutes to arrive instead of the standard 12 minutes
whose patients were reached by the ambulance in an average of eighty minutes
He adds that his duty doctor business used to be familiar with local conditions and patients
he has a connection to both the place and the patients
just like the other doctors in the surrounding areas providing duty services
It was a great team; some had been working here for forty years
he himself will provide the same service in Szentendre without hesitation; but those GPs who haven’t taken any shifts on the duty roster so far will now be forced to do so – however
these doctors lack the ‘professional freshness’ and experience necessary for the care of emergency patients
Magyar finds problematic is that the decision regarding the duty service centre being in Szentendre had been made merely two weeks before the shift; and instead of the four duty doctor service points formerly in the town
one-quarter of the capacity – he summarised the situation
The very first notification regarding the new duty centre launching on February 1 had arrived on December 15
He also laments that this drastic step was taken without professional consultation
I wish sincerely from my heart that the new duty system would work well
who believes that the new system will surely be functional – for better or worse; although in his view
the reduced capacity will probably lead to difficulties in some cases
It’s not just Tahitótfalu and its surroundings that resist the restructuring. On January 26, residents of Pomáz organised a honking protest against the new duty GP system
The old duty centre of the Pest County town with 20,000 inhabitants also ceased to operate on February 1
42,000 residents belonged to the former centre from Pomáz and its surroundings
some will have to travel to Szentendre for duty care
while the rest will have to go to the Pilisvörösvár office
In reply to questions by TV channel RTL’s news service
the National Ambulance Service stated that the new system was devised following a meticulous analysis
while further analyses will be carried out during operation to ensure patient safety; additional changes to the system may come if needed
According to the National Ambulance Service
the operation of the duty service is entirely in their jurisdiction
so there is no need for the municipality to continue providing healthcare services voluntarily at its own expense
This somewhat contradicted Gergely Gulyás’ statement at last week’s governmental briefing session replying to whether the municipality could continue to operate the service at its own expense
The Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office stated the state cannot intervene regarding the establishment of a private medical centre; this is well within the municipality’s rights
Under the coordination of the National Ambulance Service
the new unified duty system for primary care made its debut in Hajdú-Bihar County on January 1 last year
The essence of the new system is that patient care is conducted under the direction of the ambulance service rather than the municipalities
Patients can personally visit these locations on weekdays from 10 PM to 8 AM and on weekends from 2 PM to 8 AM the following day
patients need to ring the emergency number 1830
it is the dispatcher who then decides whether advice transmitted over the phone is sufficient
or if a duty service vehicle needs to be sent out
the dispatcher can also call the ambulance
The nationwide expansion of the unified primary care duty system continued with Fejér and Pest counties on February 1
Last February, the restructuring process stood in the centre of attention following a statement from the Hungarian Medical Chamber urging GPs not to sign their contracts with the National Ambulance Service
which gave the implementation of the new system a difficult start in several counties
The Medical Chamber’s statement was issued because the organisation feared that the new healthcare regulations introduced in January last year would further diminish the quality of medical service and jeopardise patient care
On its website, the National Ambulance Service claims that the new system is functioning seamlessly everywhere
They add that for typically milder health problems
duty care has provided an appropriate solution in over 90% of all cases
specialised treatment or hospital admission
Telephone advice sufficed in over 32,000 cases
More than 246,000 patients have been given care at one of the duty service locations
while 21,000 were treated at home by duty staff arriving with a service vehicle
The emergency number 1830 is functioning well all over the country
patients remain satisfied with the duty system

The first phase of the revamp of the railway line running between Budapest and Austria took place between 2 and 11 January successfully
The second phase started today and it will modify not only the schedule of the passenger trains commuting between the Hungarian capital and Sopron or Szombathely
but also the international trains carrying passengers on one of Hungary’s busiest lines
According to Blikk
train timetables on railway line nr 1 will change temporarily due to the scheduled maintenance of the overhead line the felling of dangerous trees and removing some threatening bushes growing too close to the railway track
the employees of the Hungarian railway company completed the works between Budaörs and Biatorbágy
The second phase started today and they are working between Kelenföld and Budaörs until next Sunday
their schedule will be modified only by minutes and mainly in the early morning hours
Csárdás EuroCity (EC 144) from Keleti railway station to Vienna and Lehár EuroCity (EC 340) will leave Keleti 5 minutes earlier
at 12:35 and 6:35 PM instead of 12:40 and 6:40 PM
They will leave Kelenföld station 6 minutes earlier than usual
Trains will commute from Tatabánya following their original schedule
EuroNight and Railjet trains coming to Budapest
will arrive at Kelenföld station 3-6 minutes later and at Keleti railway station 9 minutes later than their regular schedule
MÁV added that the S12 passenger train between Budapest and Oroszlány would commute on a shorter route
There are only two regions in Hungary where purchasing power per capita reaches half of the European average: Budapest (57%) and Komárom-Esztergom County (51%) – reported hvg.hu
The Hungarian national average in this regard is 6,654 EUR which is 450 EUR higher than it was in 2017
this sum is only 47 pc of the European standard
Among the 42 European countries in which GfK calculated purchasing power per capita
only in Budapest and in Komárom-Esztergom County is this sum higher than the half of the European average
a Hungarian in Budapest has 23 pc more money than an average Hungarian
the following are the richest Hungarian towns and districts in Budapest (in pc of the national average):
in the neighbourhood of the 12th and 2nd district of Buda: Üröm
The most impoverished region of Hungary is Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in which purchasing power per capita barely reaches 79 pc of the national average
The second place of the “reversed” list went to Hajdú-Bihar County (85.4 pc)
while the third to Nógrád County with 87 pc of the national average
In their list of mean net wealth per household and per person
only Latvia and Chile did worse than Hungary among the OECD 27
40 pc of the households are struggling with debt
This store is going to be the biggest in the country so far
IKEA has been present in Hungary for 26 years
and in the spring of 2017 a third store is to be opened
among the stores in Budaörs and at Örs vezér Square
customers will become able to visit and shop their favourite furniture in Soroksár as well
The new blue-yellow store will be 34 thousand square metre big and the factors of sustainability and energy efficiency are kept in mind during the construction
as IKEA represents all the good things about Sweden – e.g
delicious foods of Swedish cuisine – the stores appear as kind of embassies
Trouvé said that where IKEA appears usually other companies do so
which is rather important from an economical point of view
mayor of Soroksár stated that the investment is going to reduce unemployment: about 300 people are expected to work there and quite the same number of suppliers will be employed after the store is opened
So the new IKEA is a great opportunity for Soroksár to boost employment rates and increase revenues
especially because the money issued to local councils from the budget have decreased
successful investments play significant roles in the lives of the settlements
IKEA turnover rose by 5% in the previous business year (that ended in August): it rose to 31.9 billion EUR
August 19 (MTI) – UK supermarket chain Tesco is preparing to sell its business in Hungary
Tesco could shut down its Hungarian headquarters in Budaörs
Downsizing has started at a number of stores around the country
told the paper that more and more managers are leaving the headquarters in Budaörs because they believe the future of the company is uncertain
Those who leave are being replaced by staff from Tesco Europa’s headquarters in the Czech Republic
Tesco announced a year earlier that it put its businesses in Hungary
Slovakia and the Czech Republic under the aegis of Tesco Europa to rationalise operations
