NEW CONCORD — Matt Nardo is back where his coaching career began
as he was recently named Muskingum University football coach
Nardo returns after a three-year run at Bluffton College
He led the Beavers to their best Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference finish in eight years
set a school record for Academic All-HCAC honors
Nardo's up-tempo spread offense rewrote the record books
including most touchdown passes in a game (7)
the first season with three 600-yard receivers
and the highest scoring average (30.2 PPG) since 2017
His offensive line set a school mark for fewest sacks allowed (6)
while his defense led the HCAC in red zone scoring
"The moment I first stepped onto this campus 20 years ago
Muskingum helped shape me — not just as a professional
but as a person," Nardo said in a press release
"I am beyond proud to return to the place that played such an important role in my career
I am honored to help build upon the Muskingum Football tradition and guide our student-athletes toward continued growth and success
More: Muskingum women claim OBC title, ranked second nationally
More: An injury could have derailed Cash Owen's season. Instead, the setback has aided the Sheridan junior's growth
Nardo spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator at North Carolina Wesleyan
where he led the Battling Bishops to their most wins since 2010
His offense dominated the USA South Athletic Conference
Nardo also spent four seasons at NCAA Division II Emporia State
helping the Hornets rack up 31 wins and back-to-back NCAA playoff runs
he led the top passing offense in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association while ranking second in first downs
"With over 20 years of coaching experience
and passion to our football program," Muskingum athletic director Kari Winters said in a press release
"We are thrilled to bring him back home as our new head coach and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our team and community

Nardo's coaching career began at Muskingum
where he served as a defensive assistant for three seasons and produced five All-Conference performers
Nardo's players received several individual accolades
including National Defensive Player of the Week
Ohio Athletic Conference Linebacker of the Year
and an invitation to play in the Aztec Bowl in Mexico
Nardo graduated from Ohio University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in sports science and earned an master's degree in Adult Education from Muskingum in 2007
Oklahoma State has fired offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn and defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo following the Cowboys' 3-9 season
who won 10 games last season and reached the Big 12 title game
were expected to be conference and College Football Playoff contenders in 2024 and were ranked No
they went 0-9 in Big 12 play and snapped the program's 18-year bowl game streak under longtime coach Mike Gundy
Dunn had been a member of Gundy's coaching staff since 2011 and was elevated to offensive coordinator in 2020
Nardo served as defensive coordinator for two seasons after Gundy hired him away from Gannon University
Significant staff changes were expected after Oklahoma State's nine-game slide resulted in the program's first losing season since 2005. Following a 56-48 loss to Texas Tech in the Cowboys' final home game
Gundy told reporters he had no intention of stepping down
is the third-longest tenured head coach in FBS
"There ain't no way that the old lady is letting me retire
if that's what you're asking me," Gundy said
"I have as much energy now as I did when I took this job
Even though we're in a really tough situation here that we haven't been in in 18 years
I'm excited to come to work tomorrow and try to find a way to beat Colorado."
The Cowboys closed their season with a 52-0 road loss to the No. 25 Buffaloes
the largest margin of defeat in Gundy's tenure
The Cowboys returned All-America running back Ollie Gordon II, seventh-year senior quarterback Alan Bowman and eight more starters on offense
but struggled to match their production from 2023 and scored 22 points per game in Big 12 play
Gordon, the FBS leader in rushing yards last year with 1,732, finished with 880 rushing yards as a junior. Bowman was benched late in the season for true freshman Maealiuaki Smith

Perry Nardo began a career that would see him ascend from an advertising sales representative at The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register to a regional publisher overseeing several newspapers in the region
Along the way he would craft his own unique leadership style that saw him both demand and receive the best from himself and his employees
That’s no surprise given his passion for coaching and lifting up others — a passion that runs deep in his family
Nardo’s newspaper career came to its conclusion on Friday when the longtime general manager of the Wheeling newspapers and also regional publisher for The Ogden Newspapers marked his final day on the job
“I feel so privileged to have spent a career working with such great people here at The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register — individuals who were fully committed to their craft and to making this community a better place,” Nardo said
“My greatest memories will always be about those I worked with and the communities we served
It was my calling and I’m so proud of all the work we did to help provide Ohio Valley residents with the most important news of the day
“Every day our team did something great
and that doesn’t happen without really good people
the team I worked with was so important not only to my success
but the success of the newspapers and these communities
That’s what I’ll miss the most — my team.”
John High School and Ohio University graduate
began his career in August 1981 as an advertising sales representative in Wheeling
when he accepted the advertising director’s position at The Southwest Times in Pulaski
Nardo became publisher of the Radford News Journal in Radford
followed by being named advertising director of The Daily Progress in Charlottesville
He returned to the Upper Ohio Valley in February 1990 as publisher of the Wetzel Chronicle and Tyler Star-News
He returned to Wheeling in 1993 as The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register’s retail advertising manager
and in 1996 was named the newspapers’ advertising director
He assumed his current general manager’s role in June 1999
and in 2018 became a regional publisher for The Ogden Newspapers
Along the way Nardo also found time to be involved in numerous professional and civic organizations working to better our local communities
He also coached high school football for more than a decade at Bellaire St
John High School and Bishop Donahue High School
Nardo served for years on the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors and was its chairman in 2016
He also sat on the Ohio University Eastern Advisory board and on the board of the Wheeling-based Regional Economic Development Partnership
Nardo was a member of the New Martinsville Rotary Club
the Wheeling Rotary Club (morning gathering) and the Shadyside Knights of Columbus
Nardo was a longtime advocate for West Virginia’s newspapers
He served for years as a West Virginia Press Association board member
and was president in 2014 and again in 2022
the Press Association honored Nardo with the Adam R
the most prestigious honor for a newspaperman in West Virginia
a longtime columnist for The Intelligencer and Wheeling News-Register who authored the popular “Country Editor” column that for many years provided valuable guidance and insight to readers and the region
coaching them in various sports before moving on to Bellaire St
That desire to coach others trickled down to his children
as all three currently are involved in coaching college football: Matt is the head coach at Bluffton University in Bluffton
Ohio; Bryan is the defensive coordinator at Oklahoma State University; and Luke is a graduate assistant at West Virginia University
Nardo thanked his wife for being at his side throughout his career
“Jayme always understood the commitment this profession expects of us
and none of us could do it without support at home
So not only to Jayme but to all the spouses and partners of our employees
We couldn’t do it without you.”
Nardo said he and Jayme plan to travel in retirement to spend time with their sons
daughters-in-law and their five grandchildren — Joseph
Along the way he’ll continue to think about the relationships he made over 43 years and how those relationships impacted his career
what really stands out for me are the people with whom I worked,” Nardo said
“They all took their professions so seriously
and worked daily with one simple mission: to tell our communities’ stories through the pages of the newspaper and our digital platforms
That’s such an important calling and responsibility
and I loved every minute I gave to this profession.”

On Monday, Doug Samuels of FootballScoop reported that Bryan Nardo is expected to join the defensive staff at Charlotte
One of the most recent teams to jump to the FBS level
Charlotte could soon be adding a coach with Big 12 experience
Nardo spent the past two seasons in Stillwater as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator
While his first season wasn’t necessarily the most impressive
it seemed his adjustments and overall scheme were key in OSU’s ascension to a 10-win season and Big 12 Championship appearance
With the Cowboys ranking among the bottom 10 in the FBS in most statistical categories
OSU’s defense was the main issue in the team’s winless Big 12 campaign
not all of the blame for OSU’s three-win season can be placed on Nardo
OSU’s offense also struggled mightily throughout the season
but the injuries piling up for the OSU defense sealed Nardo’s fate
With future NFL players Collin Oliver and Nick Martin not playing a snap after September
the Cowboys were without their anchors and other injuries piled up from there
With a myriad of backups and players not playing in their natural positions
Nardo had no true opportunities to run his desired scheme
OSU’s horrendous rankings and results on the field were still too much to overlook as the team overhauled virtually its entire staff this offseason
the Cowboys hired Todd Grantham as his replacement shortly after the position opened
Nardo is also not the first former OSU defensive coordinator to head to Charlotte
After being let go following the 2017 season
Glenn Spencer went to Charlotte and was its defensive coordinator for the 2018 season
IVAN WHITEIvan is a sports media student at Oklahoma State University. He has covered OSU athletics since 2022 and also covers the OKC Thunder for Inside The Thunder and Thunderous Intentions.

OKLA (KOKH) — Oklahoma State University has fired offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn and defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo
The news of these staff changes came from 247sports.com
had not led the team to the Top 20 in the country in scoring offense
or rushing offense in his time as the offensive coordinator
Nardo had only worked with Oklahoma State for two seasons
Dunn will be owed $1 million in buyout money and Nardo will receive $700,000

Change in some form with OSU football is expected
especially after a 3-9 season when the Cowboys were expected to challenge for a Big 12 title and a CFP berth
Sources have confirmed to Sports Director John Holcomb on Wednesday that the Cowboys are parting ways with offensive coordinator Kasey Dunn and defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo
OSU ranked last in the Big 12 in total defense
Some of the struggles were due to injuries to Collin Oliver and Nick Martin
and the inability to generate a consistent running game
No. 23 Colorado Rolls To 52-0 Win Over Oklahoma State; Hunter's Big Game Bolsters Heisman Hopes
Oklahoma State Falls To Texas Tech 56-48, Remaining Winless In Big 12 Play
Dunn has been on Mike Gundy’s staff since February of 2011
and Nardo just completed his second season as the Cowboys’ DC
The OSU Board of Regents has scheduled a special meeting for 7:30 a.m
before a regularly scheduled meeting that day at 10:00 a.m
Here is what is part of the OSU Board of Regents special meeting agenda that day:
if approved by the required number of members present
purpose of considering evaluation/assessment and other information relevant to the
employment of Oklahoma State University football staff
Consider or take any action with reference to the matter
There has been a lot of speculation on the status of Mike Gundy
who just completed his 20th season as head coach
The former OSU quarterback had a string of 18 straight bowl seasons snapped this fall
The Cowboys played in the Big 12 Championship game in 2021 and 2023 and won a conference title in 2011
If OSU decides to end Gundy’s tenure it’s worth this thought- would a potential successor be apprehensive about coming to a program with all that success before this season
and then one bad year ends with massive change
Or would that potential successor push that aside
Kasey Dunn has been part of the Oklahoma State University football coaching staff since 2011
ascending to the role of offensive coordinator in 2020
He helped the Cowboys rank highly in national offensive statistics during his tenure
Dunn previously coached wide receivers at OSU
where he contributed to developing talent like James Washington and Tylan Wallace
His coaching career includes stints at other colleges and the NFL
He played collegiate football as a wide receiver at Idaho
joined the team in 2023 after successful coaching roles at Gannon University
Nardo focuses on creating disciplined and effective defenses that emphasize player development
His systems often integrate aggressive playmaking and adaptability
John Holcomb plays a pivotal role as Sports Director of the News On 6 Sports team
highlighting college as well as high school sports
Holcomb began his career at KOTV in November 1995

STILLWATER — Bryan Nardo is an easy target
When the Oklahoma State defense was supposed to take steps forward in his second year as coordinator
it has instead regressed to the point that it is the worst statistical unit in the Power 4 conferences
While the Cowboy offense has shown some upward movement in recent weeks, the defense remains a sieve
who two years ago was coordinating the defense of Gannon University at the Division II level
has become a fish in a barrel for a frustrated fanbase
He and his staff are responsible for the recruiting and developing of talent
They’re responsible for building a scheme to fit their players’ skills and adequately defend the opponent’s attack
And they’ve underachieved in many of those areas, with hopes of turning that trend around when the Pokes (3-6, 0-6 Big 12) visit TCU for a 6 p.m
plucking two All-America candidates from the front six in Collin Oliver and Nick Martin
but here’s why this situation is different — and why Nardo and Co
deserve some grace in the judgment of their defensive performance this season
More: What Mike Gundy said about negative Oklahoma State football fans
Nardo was hired in January 2023 to bring the defensive scheme he had run at places like Emporia State and Gannon
the 3-3-5 that was popularized in Big 12 country by Iowa State
So he installed that scheme last year and began running it to mixed results early in the season
Midway through the year, with the Cowboys struggling to generate an adequate pass rush
Nardo adjusted the scheme to get Oliver — who had moved from defensive end to linebacker — back involved more frequently as an edge rusher where he had excelled the first two years of his career
So in postseason assessments of the defense
with the input from head coach Mike Gundy and the defensive staff
melded the 3-3-5 base defense with some principles of a four-man front like the Cowboys had run in 2021 under then-coordinator Jim Knowles
The adjustments were centered around Oliver and his versatility as both a linebacker and pass rusher
“Quite a few of the things we’ve done the last few years were built around freeing him up
just like they do in the NFL with great pass rushers,” Gundy said
The restructured Cowboy defense was designed to let Oliver create havoc
vicious tackling machine at middle linebacker— clean up the mess
When Oliver broke his foot in the second quarter of the second game
Nardo could’ve simply set fire to a large portion of the playbook
and there wasn’t a plug-and-play option behind him
The defense simply wasn’t capable of operating the same schemes
a transfer from the same DII school that produced Nardo
And Ezeigbo has played well in making the jump to the Big 12
But he doesn’t have the dynamic playmaking ability or versatility of Oliver
More: Mike Gundy says Oklahoma State football schemes 'were OK' in loss to Arizona State
“There were some adjustments we went through with Oliver not being in there
because we tried to free him up a lot,” Gundy said
which might keep him out the rest of the season
came three weeks after Oliver’s foot injury
The absence of last year’s breakout star left a giant void in the middle of the defense
middle linebacker Jeff Roberson has been a reliable replacement
But neither can be expected to reshape the defense the way Oliver and Martin had
the 3-3-5 aspect of Nardo’s defense is gone
the mulitplicity of the looks he can present to an opponent
He’s running almost exclusively a 4-2-5 rather than the scheme he was hired to install
the scheme he’d been running for a decade before he came to OSU
Anyone recruited to play defense in the Big 12 should be able to tackle
and that continues to be a persistent problem for the Cowboys
Gundy joked last week that his team’s odds of tackling Arizona State bruiser Cam Skattebo would “probably run on the comedy channel,” and Skattebo’s 274 yards from scrimmage suggest Gundy was right
Nardo’s second year in Stillwater can’t solely be graded on yardage and points allowed
“I also have to look at what’s going on,” Gundy said
When Collin Oliver went down and Nick Martin went down
that made it extremely difficult for us to look like we were last year in the last six games of the year
Collin Oliver was special when it came to getting to the quarterback
“That’s just me telling you facts the way it is
I have to look at the results the way they are and then make a decision.”

In a new XXL feature
the Florida rapper opened up about what he would ask Em if they ever met
And it is not just a selfie or a collab request
Nardo would actually want Eminem to sit down and give him real feedback on one of his own songs
I’d probably ask him to listen to my song ‘Drew’ and give me his honest opinion on it
I came up with the idea for my song ‘Drew’ from Eminem’s song ‘Stan.’ It was inspired by it because I always thought it was real creative to make that type of song to paint a picture like that
and I wanted to try it and see if I could do it
It is not the first time Nardo has credited Eminem as a major influence. He said earlier that Em might be the only artist who could leave him starstruck despite already having met Drake without flinching
Nardo also shared how much Em’s catalogue means to him:
[My favourite song] is probably “Rap God” or “Lose Yourself”
Looks like if that “no filter” convo ever happens

In anticipation of a solo exhibition by artist Nardo at Bitcoin Mena, in collaboration with AOTM Gallery
I sat down with him to explore the intersections of memes
Nardo’s work navigates the intriguing space between the tangible form of traditional painting and the fleeting nature of meme culture—two seemingly contrasting mediums that are evolving in tandem with Bitcoin
Subway became the first fast-food chain to accept bitcoin in 2013—a moment documented by Andrew Torba
who famously used bitcoin to buy a $5 sub in Allentown
given that Torba is now CEO of the social network Gab)
This early mix of Bitcoin and meme culture sparked humorous reflections on “spending generational wealth” on footlongs and highlighted themes of currency value over time
as the dollar’s purchasing power wanes while bitcoin’s grows
How does this Subway meme resonate with you
and how does it shape your approach to painting in an increasingly digital age
I think there is something to be said about quick consumption in contemporary culture—whether it’s fast food footlong subs or internet memes
The attention span of human senses has diminished to bursts of repeated dopamine
and toppings becomes the most exciting part of your afternoon
Then comes the tireless effort of finishing 12 inches of processed food matter
You repeat this over and over because it’s convenient
you’ll excite yourself by swapping cheddar for provolone
Subway has developed a systematic experience that feels eternal
Memes and internet behavior function in a similar way
The ephemeral consumption of entertaining or humorous memes acts as the dopamine hit—we share them with friends
the success of memes also lies in their systems: cultural iconography
bold fonts superimposed onto captivating imagery
Memes rely on visual and cultural layers—bread
we should really confront its experiential nature in the exact moment of exchange
To have purchased a footlong for $5 worth of Bitcoin in 2013
is both absurd and somewhat painful—but the experience is eternal
The very act of using digital internet money in exchange for physical
Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins coined the term “memes” to describe units of cultural transmission
Memes also resemble viruses in how they propagate through social networks
blurring the lines between genes and viruses as both can integrate into DNA and influence evolution
You and I have joked that memes—and memecoins—are akin to the fast food of digital culture
serving as cybernetic junk food or street drugs
Do you consider memes to be a low art form
Is the buildup of studio trash made famous by painter Francis Bacon or the outlandish waste and detritus of Dash Snow’s 2007 “hamster nest” installation somehow related
What are your thoughts on contemporary artists like Christine Wang
who replicates notable memes in her recent painting exhibition
“Cryptofire Degen,” at The Hole in New York
What happens when a digital meme becomes a physical painting?
This all ties back to what I discussed earlier—I am interested in slowing down the process of consumption
To meticulously hand-paint a meme in oil and present it as such can be a little jarring
After the user has consumed their lunch and doom-scrolled through countless memes on Twitter
The whole experience can feel like nullifying brain rot—a diminishing of structure and existence within passive chaos
that is the liminal mindset necessary to birth the most viral ideas
My introduction to cybernetics came from Japanese animation series like Ghost in the Shell (1995-2014)
which explore cyberpunk themes such as internet-connected minds
echoing Dawkins’ ideas about memes and cultural transmission
The series highlights concepts like “ghost-hacking” and “thought viruses,” which replicate across networks and influence societal behavior
aligning with Dawkins’ notion of self-replicating cultural units
Given your recent exploration of the “skibidi toilet” meme phenomenon
what insights have you gained about how this meme has propagated across social networks and shaped the collective consciousness of younger audiences
The Ghost in the Shell connection isn’t far removed from the world as we know it now
Much like the premise of that “fiction,” our fleshy brains are nestled within a cybernetic façade of digital personas and communications
We practically live vicariously through a digitized shadow-self—a projection of what we think we could become
I am deeply intrigued by the phenomenon of American youth becoming obsessed with new memes that older generations are unable to compute
I think it is in this fracturing of sensibility that new languages are born
while old mythologies are repackaged in contemporary ways. Skibidi Toilet is the Iliad of the Internet
Beyond Ghost in the Shell’s exploration of cybernetics
the seminal anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion intersects with the Age of Aquarius concept through its themes of interconnectedness and collective consciousness
The series delves into the merging of individual identities
echoing how “hive mind” behaviors in contemporary internet culture reflect the rapid influence of shared information and memes
you highlight the tension between individual artistry and the pressures of representing a faceless brand
How have you observed this shift over time
and how can artists engage with collective ideas while preserving their individuality in today’s digital culture
The Sandwich Artist piece utilizes a well-known meme template
yet through various digital alterations—specifically the literal scribbling out of pre-existing text—it takes on the feel of graffiti and eventually becomes my own
I like this piece for how it represents an individual manifesto of my work and reflects how I think about my artistry as a whole
consistent branding and aesthetics are great for sales if done right
but I’m more interested in how my work exists within a long enough historical timeline
The hive mind desires a brand to rally behind
yet history yearns for individual artistry
We’ve discussed the term “subway” in relation to submarine sandwiches
but it also evokes the idea of underground transportation
Japan famously studied mycelial growth patterns to optimize its subway and train systems
memes propagate and connect individuals in a vast
evolving as they move from one “host” to another
This fungal comparision highlights how memes adapt and spread dynamically
mirroring natural systems of growth and communication
How do you think artists can consciously navigate this memetic landscape of propagation
The lifespan of most internet memes moves so rapidly that it’s diffi cult to grasp them before they vanish into a shallow grave
Among the few that manage to take hold of the collective consciousness
I find it fascinating to analyze how they connect to humanity’s past on a metaphysical level
Trends and symbols have remained consistent throughout human history; they simply resurface in different forms as time passes
Efficient memes rely on efficient systems for delivering information
we should remain conscious of history and metaphysical symbolism
as this awareness can help us uncover our own primordial self through the mirror of memes

OSU’s 52-0 loss to Colorado sealed a winless record in conference play and a 3-9 season
With 2024 being Mike Gundy’s second losing season in 20 years
the longtime Cowboy is unlikely to be on the way out
the Cowboys need some big changes to avoid complacency after an 0-9 Big 12 year
While neither coordinator performed well this season
defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo led one of the worst units in all of college football
OSU can’t afford to go into next season with the same coaching staff
OSU’s defense under Nardo this season was the worst in the Gundy era
OSU finished 133rd of 134 teams in total defense this season after finishing 126th of 133 teams last season
Those are the only two seasons in Gundy’s 20 years at the helm where OSU finished in the bottom 10 of the FBS
The closest OSU has come to having a bottom-10 defense was in 2011
that squad went 12-1 and has the only Big 12 title in Gundy’s tenure thanks to forcing an FBS-best 3.4 turnovers per game (and having arguably the best offense in school history)
2018 was the only other season where that happened and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles was in the first year of rebuilding the OSU defense
Knowles’ struggles in his first season gave fans optimism about Nardo’s rough first year
Knowles built OSU’s defense into a top-5 unit in the FBS by his fourth and final season in Stillwater
Nardo’s unit only got worse in his second try
Nardo’s defense this season also allowed 35.6 points per game
two of the four worst rush defenses and two of the four worst pass defenses
including the worst in all three categories this season
To say OSU’s defense under Nardo has been bad or disappointing would be an understatement
Even for a team that has struggled on defense throughout the past two decades
Nardo’s units have stood out as some of the worst to ever take the field in Stillwater
The entire blame of the defense’s struggles can’t be placed on Nardo alone
but with how awful his teams have performed
there is no excuse to keep him around another season

“I am so pleased about the type of player she is,” Stewart said
“From where she was as a freshman to where she is today
One part of the maturation process for Nardo has been a shift in mentality
which also has led to a role change for her this year
Stewart says Nardo has embraced a team-first mentality
get the correct pass off and create opportunities for them all over the field
but the focus is to get others the ball,” Nardo said
We’re counting on her to score again this year
She knows it doesn’t matter who scores
She’s more focused on the team’s success this year.”
Nardo’s team-first mentality stems from being named captain this year
and her message to her teammates is about maintaining a high level of confidence
“We were a bit nervous coming into the season after losing a good group of seniors last year,” Nardo said
I wanted to make sure everyone kept their heads up and maintained their confidence.”
as Plum is off to a 4-0 record overall with three of those wins coming in Section 4-3A competition
“Having that confidence ensures we have a strong connection with each other
Nardo is well aware with the importance of communication
she is being tasked with leading the charge in the transition game offensively and defensively
“She brings a tenacity both in the attack and on defense,” Stewart said
“She’s really come into her own as a two-way player for us.”
Nardo took some time for a senior Spotlight Q&A:
What’s it like playing the forward position
I enjoy both the offensive and defensive aspects of the position
and it helps me understand our point of attack in our transition game
I get as many touches on the ball as I can
which I think has helped me improve in my four years
All the coaching I’ve received throughout the years on all the different teams I’ve played on has really helped to fix my bad habits and correct my mistakes
What’s been the most memorable goal you scored in your high school career
Last year in our second game against Latrobe
but our confidence started to build after our first goal and when I scored our second one
we collectively had the belief that we would win that game
What lessons have you learned from playing sports

OSU officials have not commented on the firings, which were first reported by Brett McMurphy of Action Network
The Cowboys just concluded their worst season in Gundy’s 20-year tenure as OSU’s head coach with the worst loss in that same span
concluding a 3-9 season with no victories in Big 12 play
But is the dismissal of Dunn and Nardo the end of the house-cleaning at OSU
It is possible additional assistants could be on the way out as part of the changes
And the Oklahoma A&M Colleges Board of Regents have scheduled a special meeting at 7:30 a.m
The topic of the special meeting is not known
though the Board of Regents' involvement in football staff matters likely would only include Gundy's job status or contract

Dunn had just completed his 14th season with the Cowboys and fifth as offensive coordinator
OSU averaged 27.2 points and 374.0 yards per game this season
a notable decline after Dunn’s previous four offenses had averaged over 400 yards and 29.5 points per game
It was OSU’s worst scoring offense since the 2005 team averaged just 20.2 points per game
The last time OSU had fewer yards was 2009 when it averaged 367.3
OSU has averaged under 400 yards per game only three times in Gundy’s tenure
Dunn rose to prominence on the OSU staff because of his ability to discover and develop under-the-radar receiver prospects
once a two-star recruit who won the 2017 Biletnikoff Award
was the poster child for Dunn’s coaching talent
Dunn oversaw the offenses of the only two OSU teams to reach the Big 12 Championship Game
But after averaging 431.8 yards and nearly 30 points per game last season — and returning nearly every offensive starter — OSU fell off significantly with lackluster play at quarterback and on the offensive line
OSU had the worst statistical season in its history
allowing 35.6 points and 500.6 yards per game
The Cowboys’ previous worsts were 456.8 yards per game allowed in 2011 and 32.5 points per game allowed in 2018

Nardo spent just two seasons as the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator
He was hired from Division II Gannon University specifically to install the 3-3-5 defensive scheme at OSU
Gundy and Nardo adjusted to a style that allowed for more use of four-man fronts primarily in hopes of getting edge rusher Collin Oliver more involved in the pass rush
But after Oliver and All-Big 12 linebacker Nick Martin were injured
the scheme shifted almost exclusively to a 4-2-5 that did not resemble much — if any — of the defense Nardo had been hired to run

multiple reports surfaced that OSU is firing offensive coordinator and associate head coach Kasey Dunn
along with defensive coordinator Bryan Nardo
the Cowboys are making changes that were expected given the team’s first losing season in nearly two decades
Across Mike Gundy’s 20 seasons as head coach
2024 marked his worst and the only season where he has failed to win a conference game
Dunn has been with OSU for most of Gundy’s tenure
starting as a receivers coach in 2011 before working his way up to offensive coordinator
Dunn’s first season as offensive coordinator came in 2020
and he has held that role for the past five years
While Gundy’s teams have been notorious for offensive output
His offenses have been among the worst in the Gundy era
failing to rank higher than 46th in points per game throughout his five seasons
Nardo was hired by OSU after he spent time as the defensive coordinator at Gannon University
Making the leap from a small school to OSU proved to be difficult
While injuries and personnel made it difficult for Nardo to run his preferred scheme
the Cowboys’ defense was among the worst in Gundy’s tenure in 2023
Those numbers only got worse in 2024 as OSU finished with the second-worst total defense in all of college football
along with bottom 10 rankings in rush and pass defense
With the Cowboys’ 18-year streaks of winning seasons and bowl appearances snapped
they will be searching for some new coaches to get the program back on the right track

The company started from just $6,000 put up by the eldest brother (who actually sold his car to get the funding)
so the guys knew they needed more of a cash injection to really get things off the ground
Though DJ actually admitted he wasn't overly confident
he and his siblings would actually make it into the tank
I just thought I was going to end up being on their perpetual mailing list," he said
made their way onto "Shark Tank" to ask the Sharks for $75,000 in return for a 12% stake in Nardo's Naturals
who each took care of a different part of the business
made their way onto the show to present the idea
sharing that they'd already made $30,000 worth of sales
They claimed they expected to shift around $4.8 million worth of products
But those figures weren't enough to impress all the Sharks
Mark Cuban was the first to make it clear he had no plans to invest
suggesting the brothers should turn to a business loan to help keep things moving rather than seeking out a business partner
Kevin O'Leary was next to say goodbye to the Nardo brothers
Damond John and Robert Herjavec also turned down the family business
proving it only takes one interested Shark to create success
Barbara Corcoran wasn't put off by her co-stars
She revealed how much she liked the brothers and made an offer
Corcoran offered the full $75,000 they were after — but she wanted 50% of their business
With half of what they'd worked for on the line
but the brothers ultimately decided they wanted the savvy businesswoman onboard and they accepted
After braving it with the Sharks on "Shark Tank," the Nardo Brothers enjoyed some serious success. Danny Mastronardo explained to Small Business Trends that
when they met with Barbara Corcoran after the show
they explained they'd be working on it full-time
Though he didn't explicitly confirm what the new deal entailed
he suggested they got to keep more of the business
creating everything from cleansers to lip balms
Forbes reported that
Nardo's Natural was a multi-million dollar company
and Corcoran's cash helped it gain sales and work on distribution techniques
The company later grew by helping other businesspeople reach their dreams
helping over 250 different brands by sharing their business knowledge
the company has a revenue of around $5 million
Danny Mastronardo confirmed on "The Mentors" podcast in 2019 that they'd sold products in 50 states and had even appeared on Forbes' 30 under 30 entrepreneurs list
Though it's still focused on selling its natural skincare products
the company has changed somewhat since its time on "Shark Tank." Danny shared that the company has expanded to close to 1,100 members of staff and had its own chemist and manufacturing facility
"We've turned it into a self-running machine," he said
"Our biggest source of revenue now is private label
where we do the manufacturing for others and put their label on it," he added
it looks like Nardo's Naturals will only keep on expanding
Danny teased the possibility to Small Business Trends
"We will be working on a pilot for our own reality show." Now that's a show we'd like to see
"Shark Tank" is available for purchase on Prime Video
(Robert Allen of Pokes Report contributed to the this story.)
STILLWATER – Pokes Report has learned from multiple sources
and has consulted with Brett McMurphy with the Action Sports Network
that Wednesday morning Oklahoma State offensive coordinator
This action by head coach Mike Gundy comes after the 3-9 season and the nine-game losing streak to finish the year with an 0-9 record in Big 12 play
This is just the third time that Gundy has fired a defensive coordinator in his 20 years as head coach
This is the first time he has fired an offensive coordinator.
Oklahoma State was the second worst unit in Division I FBS allowing 500.6-yards a contest split with 215-yards rushing a game and 285.58-yards passing a contest
The defense only forced 15 turnovers this season and allowed an average of 35.6-points per game.
Oklahoma State scored 27.2 points per game this was a low for the Kasey Dunn era as offensive coordinator
also a low for the Cowboys in recent seasons
That was a split of just 111.8-yards rushing and 262.25-yards passing
The two coaches were still at the West End Zone this morning and into the afternoon
Our multiple sources said it happened early in the day
We know there was a staff meeting at 10 a.m.
Dunn has spent the past 14 seasons on staff
joining as the wide receivers coach in 2011
then promoted to associate head coach ahead of the 2019 season and then offensive coordinator in 2020
Nardo was hired away from Division II Gannon University where he had one of the best defenses at that level and had just coached a Gannon defense that was their best in 20-years
He was brought in to run an odd man (three-man) front defense
but midway into his first season the Cowboys gradually morphed back into a four-man front
but he was educating himself more on how to coach up and work in the frame of an even front.
Dunn has been one of the best wide receiver coaches in the nation having coached up Justin Blackmon in his first season on the coaching staff
Blackmon and Washington each won the Biletnikoff Award as the top receiver in college football
Dunn has coached in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks as well as college stops at Idaho (alma mater)
Nardo was a student coach at Ohio University and then coached at Missouri S&T
and Youngstown State before going to Gannon and from there he came to Oklahoma State
His reputation grew as a defensive coordinator at the Division II level and his expertise on three-man front defensive play
He is also a coach in the secondary with safeties and corners
He was immensely popular with the player on both sides of the football
There was no immediate word on any other changes on the coaching staff or a time table for the hiring of new coordinators for Oklahoma State on offense and defense
The Florida rapper dishes out aggressive bars over beats that sound like absolute chaos
is that Wick's delivery is hushed and menacing
He doesn't yell over instrumentals the way some of his Florida brethren do
"I Wonder" is a textbook example of the Nardo Wick formula at work
and sees him rattle off a series of increasingly intense lyrics with a flow that completely unrushed
"I wonder what I did to make her like me so much," he spits
but it started as a crush." The song is another winner for Nardo Wick

STILLWATER — Before he can hire Oklahoma State’s next defensive coordinator, Mike Gundy has a decision to make
The dismissal of Bryan Nardo after two years was the result of the Cowboys posting their worst defensive performance in history
giving up over 500 yards per game in a 3-9 season
But that happened for a lot of reasons, many of which were not on the shoulders of Nardo
When he was plucked from the Division II sidelines of Gannon University
Nardo was brought to OSU specifically for his expertise in the 3-3-5 scheme that had been run successfully at places like Iowa State
It’s a complex and unique scheme that takes time for players to fully learn
The 2023 season was below average statistically
Nardo showed his ability to adjust his defense as games went on
But the team lacked a consistent pass rush
so the coaching staff went into the offseason looking for ways to boost it
By spring, talk had centered on using a four-man front more frequently, getting star linebacker Collin Oliver more involved as an edge rusher
When Oliver was lost for the season in the second game of the year
the Cowboys lost a large piece of their versatility
the defense turned almost exclusively to a 4-2-5 scheme more similar to what Jim Knowles had run successfully from 2018-21
So Nardo spent half his time in Stillwater running a defense that didn’t align with the scheme he was hired to run
That means Gundy needs to decide what he wants his defense to look like before he hires his next coordinator
Since he won’t speak to the media before the hire is made
here’s a look at a few defensive coordinator candidates who could be popular options:
More: Regents meeting ends with ‘plan,’ no action regarding Mike Gundy, Oklahoma State football
With the current tenuous nature of head coach Ryan Day’s job at Ohio State
maybe Knowles would like to organize a cushy landing spot in advance of anything that might happen
Knowles could get in the mix for some head coaching gigs at some point
NIU ranks sixth in total defense and first among non-Power 4 programs this year
But Benedetto has been a successful coordinator everywhere he’s been
working his way up from the Division II level to FCS to his current gig
Smith is an intriguing option because of his background
then two years at Michigan before getting the Rice job
Rice had a top-40 defense this year at 334.4 yards per game
It’s the Owls’ best defensive season but they’ve been under 380 yards in four of Smith’s six seasons
More: Oklahoma State football offensive coordinator candidates: 10 options to replace Kasey Dunn
The cousin of Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph
but came up through a variety of Power 4 programs
He has been in a defensive passing game coordinator role since 2018 at Notre Dame
so OSU wouldn’t present a significant raise
The son of former OSU defensive coordinator Mike Cassity — and brother of former Cowboy tight end Braden Cassity — Skyler has been on the rise for a few years now
After beginning his coaching journey as a student assistant at Auburn
He latched on with Keith Patterson when he was the defensive coordinator at Texas Tech
and after Skyler's stint at Missouri State
Patterson hired him to be defensive coordinator at Abilene Christian

Though it did not perform as well on the charts as "Who Want Smoke," it has also become a multi-platinum single
his first project of any kind since his debut album (though he has released singles in the interim)
He opens his verse with "now who the f**k made this little sorry-ass beat?" It is a direct callback to that now-iconic 2016 cypher
with a vocal delivery that occasionally sounds similar to 21 Savage
but don't overpower his more understated delivery
Give this EP a quick listen in the meantime

STILLWATER — The question that hung over Bryan Nardo’s first year as Oklahoma State’s defensive coordinator was whether he could viably make the jump from Division II to Big 12 football
but the defense made significant improvements in areas that helped the Cowboys win 10 games
But the true test of Nardo’s staying power in major college football will come this year
with returning starters at nearly every position and an offseason to adjust to how Big 12 offenses attacked his 3-3-5 scheme
the Cowboys’ ultimate level of success in pursuit of a Big 12 title and a playoff berth in 2024 rides heavily on Nardo’s defensive improvement
“This was an unusual defense last year,” head coach Mike Gundy said
“There were times that they won games for us
and then there were times that we gave up too many yards
we dropped coverage and the first three games we didn’t tackle very well
“The good news is we have identified what the issues were and now the coaches have to work to fix those issues and find a plan to get the players to understand why that happened and how we can get better.”
More: Why Oklahoma State football game at West Virginia was 'special experience' for Nardo family
According to those who have seen him in action through the offseason and early part of preseason camp, Nardo looks more settled than a year ago. He never seemed overwhelmed with the jump to power conference football
but it was a learning experience that benefited him
“Just like us, Coach Nardo has shown improvement and growth,” edge rusher Collin Oliver said
“He was able to learn from last year and apply a new mindset to this year.”
with veteran defensive line coach Paul Randolph replacing Greg Richmond
Randolph will be charged with the duty of improving the Cowboys’ pass rush
The most important development from the offseason is Nardo’s work to mold the defensive scheme in a way that better fits the talents of his players
who played primarily as a linebacker last season
will be used more frequently as a pass rusher
Yet both players can slide back to their original positions
giving the defense an amount of versatility that can’t be undervalued
More: What benefits seventh-year QBs Alan Bowman, Cameron Rising bring to Oklahoma State, Utah
“We have a very athletic defense in my opinion,” Gundy said
“I think our players will have a better feel for our system and will allow us to play faster and get to the ball.”
The defense’s back seven lost just one regular rotation player in starting linebacker Xavier Benson
so the knowledge base should be much stronger
allowing Nardo to polish the fine points of the scheme instead of teaching it
“We gotta take a look in the mirror and see what it is for what it is — we didn’t reach our potential last year,” linebacker Nick Martin said
but we ultimately did not live up to my expectations or the coaches’ expectations
“What we can do in terms of reaching our potential
Nardo is at the heart of the improvement and growing confidence of his players
but everything that makes a coach and a man great
“I expect great things from our defense because we have such a great leader
How he’s grown in less than a year is insane.”
actor Wood Harris from Paid in Full fame
In February, Nardo dropped his sophomore album, Wick, featuring a song reminiscent of Eminem's classic 2000 track "Stan." The 23-year-old rhymer chose to call his version "Drew," drawing inspo from the ways in which Em's bars dissected a wild fan's behavior
also featuring a sample from one of his favorite singers Ruth B.
"I probably ask him to listen to my song 'Drew' and tell him give me his honest opinion on it," Nardo says of what he'd tell Marshall Mathers during a linkup
"I came up with the idea for my song 'Drew' from Eminem song 'Stan.' It was inspired by that because I always thought it was real creative to make that type of song to paint a picture like that and I wanted to try it and see if I could do it." We think Em would be proud
And while everyone has a series they've been glued to
one that may surprise even the most loyal Nardo supporter is that he really enjoys the Netflix series You starring Penn Badgley
He'd give the former Gossip Girl star his props on the show
"If I had something to say to Penn Badgley it probably would be just he a good actor
"The reason I like that show is ’cause it's like suspenseful
like his creepy and I like the way they got his character like he innocent
but he not innocent at the same time." You know what Nardo will be doing on April 24 when the new season premieres

Nardo Wick and his family are in a tough situation right now following his brother Hayward Biggins' arrest for attempted burglary back in March
Ring camera footage below is what allegedly identified Nardo's brother as the shooter in this incident
While the rapper had nothing to do with this incident
as this burglary apparently took place near his home
Biggins and his legal team reportedly filed for an insanity plea in this situation
which means that he seeks mental help in recovering from this incident but doesn't think that he's directly responsible or accountable for it given his struggles
However, this isn't the only contentious and dangerous situation involving one of Nardo Wick's close associates these days. For example, some members of his entourage apparently beat up a young fan when he tried to ask for a picture
Many debated whether or not this was a proper response
and most people agreed that Nardo's team took this way too far in this incident
this is another situation that the Jacksonville MC had nothing to do with
Read More: Nardo Wick Labeled "Boring" During "50 v. 1" For Refusing Liquor & Drugs
"I don't condone what happened to my fan George after my show in any type of way," Nardo Wick expressed on social media
"I expressed to him and his momma how sorry and concerned I am that it happened to him multiple times before anything [hit] the internet
And I sent his mama my number instantly the night it happened
And I was even gone make a post to find out who he was before his mama text me
I aint know that was gone happen and I was mad when it happened."
At least those responsible turned themselves in for the attack
so it's clear that they understood that something was very wrong here
we'll see whether a similar situation happened with this shooting case's insanity plea and whether Nardo Wick will speak out about it again
hopefully these situations resolve themselves sooner rather than later for the sake of everyone involved

Electric powered 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA covers more than 2,300 miles in 24 hours
Angus MacKenzieWriterManufacturerPhotographerNov 06
A pre-production version of the 2026 Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan has set a new record for the distance traveled by an electric vehicle in 24 hours
The car covered 3,717 km (2,309 miles) at an average speed of 154 km/h (95 mph) on the 7.8-mile Nardo Ring in Italy
beating the previous record of 3,425 km (2,128 miles) set by a Porsche Taycan at the same track in 2019
The 2026 CLA sedan is an important car for Mercedes-Benz
the first of the company’s second generation EVs
and a car that will debut an all-new platform architecture called MMA
The MMA architecture will also underpin a CLA wagon
as well as the next-generation GLA and GLB compact SUVs
while the top battery is expected to be an 90 kWh nickel manganese cobalt pack with high capacity silicon anodes
the production CLA sedan will have a range of more than 466 miles
traveling 5.2 miles for every kilowatt hour of energy its powertrain consumes
But learnings from the Nardo record run are being used to optimize those numbers in real-world driving
“Time efficiency is now the currency for EVs,” contends Christian Pfeffer, project lead for electric drive systems at Mercedes-Benz. What he means is that it’s not simply how far an EV will go on a single charge that’s most important; it’s how much range you can get from a 10-minute session at a high-speed charger. That, Pfeffer says, is a metric that is likely to be more meaningful to the vast majority of EV owners.
The challenge with the CLA development program, says Timo Stegmaier, head of development for electric drive systems, was not just to get EQXX technology into production, but improve it for the driver in terms of delivering time efficiency. “To get time efficiency you need a high efficiency drivetrain and outstanding charging performance,” Stegmaier says. The Nardo record run was designed to test the effectiveness of that technology transfer.
During the record run the CLA—a mule car with its aerodynamics configured to match those of the production version—was driven at 130 mph. It stopped 40 times to have the battery recharged during the 24 hours, which suggests the Mercedes traveled barely 60 miles between charges. But here’s the thing: Though the battery was run down to a 10 percent state of charge, it was only brought up to a 55 percent state of charge—sometimes a touch more—before the CLA was sent back out onto the track.
This ‘time efficiency’ concept has now been baked into the production CLA’s software. Program a trip from one end of Germany to the other, for example, and the car’s nav system will now work out the most time efficient route, not just in terms of average speeds, but also in terms of how much charge you need to put into the battery pack, and how often.
Production CLAs will now also interact with chargers quicker. During their early research into the record attempt, Mercedes-Benz engineers found it took an average of 56 seconds for the car and charger to recognize each other and for charging to commence. By the time of the actual run, which took place in early April, that time had been cut to about 30 seconds. “With 40 stops, that was a lot of time saved,” says Timo Stegmaier.
The pre-event simulations, and the real-world confirmation of the run itself, also helped refine things like the optimal strategies for opening and closing the cooling shutters at the front of the car and for managing the thermal loads on the battery pack, both of which have been passed through to the production CLA. And though they won’t confirm details, engineers hint the Nardo run showed the CLA’s 800V electrical architecture could handle a peak charge rate of about 300 kW.
Another goal of the record attempt was to confirm the robustness of the system. High speeds in high ambient temperatures and fast recharging puts a lot of thermal stress into an EV powertrain, particularly the battery. Data from the Nardo run is now being used in simulation testing of all new Mercedes-Benz EV powertrains.
