"The size of the blonde oranges this year was also good "Our area is ideal for the cultivation of blonde oranges because of its proximity to the sea which is characterized by a very high vitamin C content and a low limonin content which makes it highly sought after by savvy consumers Other varieties we grow include the Cara Cara Orange which is characterized by a very pigmented fruit and a high content of lycopene We also grow the Star Ruby variety of pink grapefruit a variety that needs little introduction to the industry experts; it is very productive and is in great demand on the international markets." "We put our face on our products," continues the entrepreneur "and we've even associated the name of a member of our family with each variety Because the idea is to show that we value the produce we grow in the same way that we value our loved ones The common thread is good nutrition and health we always guarantee the edibility of the peel because we do not treat our fruit before or after harvesting And because we want to be a reliable supplier when it comes to health matters we put a label on the product with the face of my nephew Vincenzo Giuseppe's son and co-owner of Bioagricola F.lli Solarino Other examples are the pink grapefruit called Giacy with the trademark "The lemons of Cavalier Don Vincenzo." Sustainable packaging (with four fruits) made from wood "Sustainability is also about packaging," the expert points out "We recently launched a new four-fruit package made of a completely natural material printed with watercolors to prevent the print from being transferred to the fruit and to ensure that the ink does not come into contact with the product The FSC marks on the products appear with FSC certified labels These labels can only be used by certified companies They guarantee that the product you're buying is made of wood or paper from environmentally friendly sources.” "All our packaging is completely plastic-free," says Solarino Sustainability also means respecting water resources we use subirrigation systems with very low dispersion Irrigation is based on information obtained from regular inspections with drones that fly over the citrus groves and provide important data on the hydration needs of the plants and possible outbreaks of plant diseases as well as the treatments that may be necessary our farm is equipped with photovoltaic panels that supply the pumps that lift the water All these actions contribute to the reduction of our carbon footprint and are becoming essential practices for the preservation of the planet." 'The Cavalier' Vincenzo with Giuseppe Solarino at the latest edition of BIOBEURS in the Netherlands "We promote biodiversity through simple but important measures," Monica Solarino continues we leave untilled areas around our citrus groves This leaves space for wildlife and provides a home for wild flora and fauna Communicating all these details about the company has a great impact on our international customers because it conveys the idea behind our commitment to sustainability in agriculture and to the health of our products to protect the end consumer." we are noticing that the presence of competing countries is felt above all in the markets of Belgium France and the Netherlands - the interviewee concludes - where Spain is particularly competitive regarding prices with a difference of around 35% compared to our price lists economic logic often prevails over other factors Our focus remains on careful agronomic management for a healthy product We will continue to communicate these values at trade shows by participating in as many events as possible we recently participated in Biobeurs in the Netherlands while we are already preparing for Fruit Logistica 2024 We will also be present with two stands at the Biofach trade fair.” For more information:Monica SolarinoBioagricola F.lli SolarinoRosolini (SR) – ItalyEmail: [email protected]http://www.bioagricolasolarino.com/ FreshPublishers © 2005-2025 FreshPlaza.com Photos: The Hours Returns to the Metropolitan Opera Henry Baker Schiff, Luka Zylik, Mitzi Solarino, and Joyce DiDonato in The Hours Kelli O'Hara, Renée Fleming, and Joyce DiDonato in The Hours Kelli O'Hara and Renée Fleming in The Hours Renée Fleming and Kyle Ketelsen in The Hours John Holiday and Joyce DiDonato in The Hours Sean Panikkar and Joyce DiDonato in The Hours Kelli O'Hara, Michael Hurst, and Brandon Cedel in The Hours Denyce Graves, Kelli O'Hara, and Renée Fleming in The Hours Thank You!You have now been added to the list. Our only written source is the Bible, which says that after Malta St Paul and St Luke landed in Sicily and stayed there for three days. The author with three Maltese nuns: there has always been a convent of Maltese nuns in Solarino. The saint’s stay in Malta has always fascinated me but very little information is given from there onwards. Maybe Luke and Paul went their own ways from Syracuse onwards? Whatever happened, it is difficult to understand how Sicily, such an important part of the Empire, is dismissed in just three days. In any case, tradition tells us that St Paul visited Palazzolo Acreide (the old Akrai), a very important centre at the time, and Solarino. (There are other claims). These traditions are very strong and remembered with great pomp each year. The visit to Solarino is mainly linked with the presence of an old well, which is a place of pilgrimage. Up to Fascist times, the official name of the city was San Paolo Solarino, but the reference to St Paul was removed. (Some today want to reinstate the name.) It is only about 17 kilometres from Syracuse, so it is possible that St Paul visited during his three-day stay there. Most of the historic core of the city has been destroyed over the years but there are still some important historic buildings. The Main Church itself, dedicated to St Paul, is only from the middle of the 18th century. An area in Solarino, known as the Maltese quarter, has long been abandoned. Some of the locals carry a Maltese surname. The city always had a convent of Maltese nuns. At the moment there are three. The city is a pleasure to visit and the food is excellent. One of the strongest traditions is that those born on January 25 have the power to cure against serpent venom. These are known as I ciarauli. When Sam Solarino requested a trade from the Stouffville Spirit last summer, he hoped he’d land in a place like Haliburton. Growing up in Markham and playing across the GTA throughout his youth, the Huskies’ two-way forward was eager for a new challenge after hitting something of a brick wall in Stouffville. He played 44 games with the Spirit during the 2019/20 season, amassing 12 points and 89 penalty minutes as a rookie. After a year on the sidelines, the energetic winger was determined to make up for lost time. Unimpressed by his prospects in Stouffville, he gave his coach a list of teams he’d be interested in joining. The Huskies sat right at the top. “Coach Ryan called me, told me he’d traded for me and we had a really good conversation. He told me his plans for the team … I was already pretty excited because I knew what Haliburton was like as a community,” Solarino said. “It’s a great town.” There were lots of familiar faces in the locker room too. Solarino played with the likes of Oliver Tarr, Ryan Hall, Joe Boice and Jack Staniland during a stint with the Central Ontario Wolves at minor bantam, making the transition to a new team much easier. Solarino is billeting with Kim and Kevin Hodgkinson in Gelert. He became a key cog on a young Huskies outfit to start the season. His grit and energy meshed well with the team’s defensive game, and he plays a big role on the penalty kill. His game has evolved at the other end of the ice, too. As a middle six forward, Solarino also gets time on the team’s second power play unit and is close to beating his rookie points total already, with 11 points in 29 games. “Getting time at both ends of the ice is definitely making me a better player. I’ve really enjoyed myself this season. We have great chemistry as a team, and everyone pulls their weight. We really fight for each other out there,” he said. Reflecting on his highlight of the season so far, Solarino looks back on the tense, 2-1 come-from-behind victory over rival Lindsay Muskies Nov. 12. With the score level mid-way through the final period, the Huskies found themselves killing a penalty. After dumping the puck down the ice, Solarino gave chase, pressuring Muskies goaltender Ethan Fraser into making a bad turnover and scoring a wrap-around on an empty net. It was a decisive victory for the Huskies, who haven’t looked back and currently sit in second place in the OJHL’s East Division. After a month-long break, the blue and white are back in action this weekend, returning to Lindsay Feb. 4 before a home tilt with the Wellington Dukes Feb. 5. “It almost feels like we’re starting the season from scratch. There’s a lot of hockey left. And with our first game back being down in Lindsay on a Friday night, that’s exactly the same as our season opener,” Solarino said. “Going into the second half of the season, I just want to be as positive as I can in the room and be someone that the younger guys can lean on as we go down the stretch. I think we have what it takes to make a deep playoff run, but everyone needs to buy into their role,” he added “We’ve got guys that can score goals, we’ve got guys that can be more defensive, and we’ve got great goaltending. I think everyone is focusing on one thing right now, and that’s a championship.” This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks.
