Habo, a consulting firm that provides strategic planning and market/consumer intelligence
evaluated the US immersive experiences market in 2024
using proprietary data from its work in this fast-growing sector
the United States has emerged as a significant centre for these innovative entertainment formats
The firm estimates that revenues from immersive experiences in the US hit $3.9 billion in 2024
indicating an average annual growth rate of 21% since 2019
This outcome highlights the strategic opportunities within the immersive experience industry for producers, investors, technology providers, and other key market participants. This market assessment includes revenues from immersive experiences in the US in 2024, covering the eight categories defined by Habo
These dynamics are creating a more structured ecosystem for the industry
Habo segmented its market assessment into four primary categories of immersive experiences
The company’s evaluation reveals that growth is not evenly distributed across these segments
as shown in this graphic of market size and average annual growth by immersive experience segment
taking average growth rates over the 2019-2024 period
High-tech and contemplative (+55% per year): This segment is experiencing rapid growth
fueled by increased immersive exhibitions and outdoor walkthroughs
These attractions usually cater to a broad audience
and use operational strategies to maximise profits through significant foot traffic
Establishing permanent venues with the necessary technology bodes well for the segment’s future
its success heavily relies on the attractiveness of the theme or the intellectual property associated with the content
and consumer weariness may pose a challenge
Innovative offerings incorporating advanced immersive technologies strive to enhance their economic frameworks
Low-tech and contemplative (+33% per year): Although it accounts for under 10% of the market
this segment attracts consumers seeking shareable social media content
Its minimal barriers to entry have facilitated growth across various market sizes
the success of popular franchises indicates a trend towards greater stability
High-tech and playful (+25% per year): Following challenges during the pandemic
immersive arcade games have seen a resurgence in the US since 2022
Enhancements in standalone VR headsets have significantly improved interactivity and immersion
leading to more engaging experiences and increased repeat visits
The growth of this segment across US markets is supported by franchise and licensing models that allow for localised operations
immersive excursions are also becoming more popular
though high development costs and complex operations still constrain their expansion
Low-tech and playful (+9% per year): This segment represents the most significant portion of industry revenue
yet it has experienced the slowest growth since 2019
While immersive role-play and escape games have been well-established for years and possess a broad audience
their fragmentation hinders further expansion
immersive family entertainment centres (FECs) continue to attract their target demographics
utilising popular intellectual properties to boost merchandise sales
Habo says that producers aiming to establish a foothold in the immersive experiences sector need to confirm several essential elements to guarantee the success of their concept:

We've talked a lot about the "don't break the chain" method of building habits over the years
where you visually mark the completion of a habit every day to help you build it
The classic method is to put an "X" on a paper calendar every day
the more motivated you are to keep it going—as anyone with Snapchat streak with a friend knows
Paper is fantastic for this, granted, but some people prefer digital tools. That's why I like Habo
an open-source habit tracking app for Android and iPhone that couldn't be simpler
There are no ads and no upselling—it's just a way to help build habits
The idea is that you will check things off as you do them
There's an indicator on the top of each habit that lets you know how many days your streak has lasted
And you can configure the settings to do things no paper calendar can
like reminding you about your habit every day at a particular time
For example: You want to start doing 20 pushups before lunch every day
You can set the application to send you a notification right at 11:55
You can also add specific details about your routine and the reward you'll give yourself after completing it
What I really appreciate about this app is its simplicity—and the fact that it's completely free
Too many productivity tools become needlessly complicated as they pursue monetization
Habo does what you need it to do and nothing else

I’d just asked her what the most important thing is that Christians should know about Muslims
knowing I had much to learn from this gentle woman who had endured decades of suffering for the gospel
a country where 99.8 per cent of the population identify as Muslim
Having regularly prayed to see the creator since her youth
They happened to be an ex-Muslim and explained to Habo that she could know the creator through reading the Bible
Habo agreed to weekly Bible studies and was provided with a Somali Bible
After several months of meeting with her tutor and poring over her Bible daily
Habo asked the Jehovah’s Witness: “Why are you lying to me
Why are you lying?” Through reading the scriptures
But turning from Islam to Christianity was a decision that came with severe consequences
after pleading with tears for Habo to return to Islam
her family threatened to kill her and take her children away
An orthodox reading of Islam mandates death to apostates
as Muhammed is recorded as saying in authentic hadiths: “Whoever changes his religion
which was present wherever she or her family members would go
Even her children were harassed when they went into town. Some of the same Muslims who were hostile to Habo by day would come to her at night
I really love you and I love what you say about Jesus
but I don’t want to lose everything.” With all conviction
Habo would reply: “The truth will set you free.” Others remarked: “How are you so brave
Habo would share Jesus. So how did Habo answer my question
What is the most important thing Christians need to know about Muslims
Many don’t believe [in Islam] but they fear their family and the community
They have to show that they are standing up for Islam.” Habo went on to share some of the creative ways Muslims have sought her out to hear about Jesus
Some have changed their names on online forums and request to chat privately
but really want to discuss Jesus or ask for prayer
I have a lot of sin,” one person blurted out.“Pray for Muslims,” Habo urges

Ramadan is a holy season celebrated during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar
Ramadan began March 11 and is expected to end April 9
a member of the Islamic Society of Greater Youngstown — called Masjid Al-Kheir in Arabic — said during Ramadan
“[Fasting] is to withhold from eating and drinking … from Fajr [prayer] before sunrise
Ramadan’s start date is determined by the moon sighting committee of Saudi Arabia after spotting the new crescent moon
Ramadan starts the day following the crescent moon
Salam said while Muslims refrain from eating and drinking during Ramadan
the month also helps Muslims fast from bad deeds and habits
“The Arabic term for fasting means to hold back,” Salam said
“Fasting in Ramadan [also] means holding back from desires … and doing anything bad.”
as it is believed the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad during Ramadan on a night called Laylat al-Qadr
Laylat al-Qadr is believed to fall within the last 10 days of Ramadan
and prayer and worship are placed in higher virtue
“[Laylat al-Qadr] is equivalent to 83 years,” Salam said

Habo said she spends Ramadan getting closer to God
spending time with family and appreciating simple things
YSU accommodates Muslims who want to pray on campus — not just during Ramadan
but all year round — as Muslims pray five times a day
Students who want to learn more about accommodations can contact the Office of Diversity
Habo said she usually prays Taraweeh and balances her time between praying and school work
“I’m just making sure I’m waking up at earlier times
said she enjoys praying Taraweeh at her local mosque throughout Ramadan
Kanan reads a chapter of the Quran every day and eats Suhoor — the meal before Fajr prayer
“I also like to donate money to poor people,” Kanan said
“I like to gather with my friends and … make food for them.”
Habo said MSA hosts several activities and events on campus during Islamic Awareness Week
“We do things like Try On a Hijab Day,” Habo said
“People walking by can come sit and we put a hijab on them and we tell them the meaning of hijab.”

Household favourites provide a window of opportunity for leisure operators
Habo, a strategic planning and market/consumer intelligence studio, has conducted a unique study into the value of intellectual properties
In recent years, Intellectual properties (IPs) have seen an increase in use within the entertainment and creative industries
helping deliver compelling experiences that are relatable to mass audiences
and customers will value and align with some IPs over others
Organisations that are considering working with an IP should undertake a strategic approach that takes into account different aspects of an intellectual proprety
The quantity of IP-based entertainment experiences continues to grow
43% of Broadway musicals were inspired by IPs
box office revenue was generated by franchises within the top 100 performing films
IPs are often at the core of theme parks and attractions which draw in millions of consumers each year
In a key move to understand the complexities of Intellectual Properties
A representative says: “The Habo IP Index first started with a hunch: through our projects
we realized that consumers often felt particularly involved emotionally when it comes to IPs and experiences designed around them
The stronger the emotional bond consumers feel towards a particular IP
the more they are willing to spend and the more emotionally invested they will be in the experiences or products based on that IP.”
Whilst attractions understand the marketing value of IPs
few studies have sought to analyse the definitive value of IPs for experiences and projects
This knowledge gap needed a tool to help companies and brands make better strategic choices with IPs
the firm asked more than 5,300 US residents about the intellectual properties they feel meaningful connections with
with Habo measuring their feedback in relation to twelve attributes
Demonstrating the strength of the Habo IP Index
seventy of the world’s top IPs across the five categories of movies
These have then been ranked based on their value by triangulating three fundamental dimensions of Health
With all three aspects of the Habo IP Index
the study shows that younger generations have a stronger sense of attachment to intellectual properties
connecting strongly with mutual fans of the IPs they love the most
Having grown up in an age dominated by new technologies and platforms, Millennials and Gen Z have been much more exposed to IPs and stay updated on new developments with social networks and communities
These generations are an important market segment in the entertainment
Because of their attachment to certain intellectual properties
they show a stronger interest in consuming experiences based on them
The study also found that not all intellectual properties benefit from the same level of elasticity
Almost all the IPs featured at the top of the Habo IP Index are multidimensional
starting as films or books before expanding into other mediums
The term “Elasticity” refers to a property’s ability to generate consumer interest across a range of product categories including movies
Habo’s elasticity index identifies that this subcategory has huge potential to be utilised in a wide combination of experience types
Superhero properties are followed closely by fantasy and sci-fi films – collectively IPs based on any of these three genres account for half of the top 20
This first edition of the Habo IP Index is the foundation for Habo’s broader reflection on the role and value of intellectual property in the entertainment
Habo has announced that it will soon be publishing a sequel to this first edition of the IP Index
aiming to identify the most valuable IPs within each experience category

people who immigrate to this country often exhibit a deep faith in the lofty ideals on which America was founded
This explains the striking decorations inside Afra Grill
highly accommodating and pristinely sparkling Northland-area restaurant that Abcos Ahmed
American made,” Afra Grill — a fast-casual business with a drive-through window and amiable counter service — has premiered in one of the more attention-grabbing new restaurant settings I have seen this year
The establishment’s interior features a stark yellow-and-black color scheme and seating at faux-marble tables
Afra Grill’s walls are emblazoned with prominent reproductions of the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States; inspirational quotes from civil-rights activists and founding fathers; plus shoutouts to free speech
economical and customizable bowls that offer a dynamic range of textures
flavors and healthful ingredients — is reason enough to visit this appealing place
Somali-centric restaurants are hardly new to Columbus — boasting more than 40,000 residents
the local Somali community is the second-largest in America
the well-prepared and accessible dishes from Afra Grill are a great introduction to an easy-to-love cuisine that shares characteristics with Indian
skillfully fried pastry pocket filled with seasoned ground beef
diced onions and peppers sounds good — and I guarantee it is — the samosa-like Sambuus is a killer deal ($1.99)
Tack on a chai-like Afra Ice Tea ($2.50) that is milky
and you have a fantastic snack or appetizer
Ordering an entree starts with choosing a bowl base
alluringly spicy jollof rice (a west African favorite)
healthful and hearty brown rice or soothing mulawah — substantial yet supple
and include: Chicken Suqaar ($10.99) — spicy
similar to chicken curry; Chicken Afra ($10.99) — herb-flecked
slightly minty cubes; Habo Steak ($11.99) — delicious
mostly tender pieces of beef brightened by clove and cardamom notes; Roasted Goat ($12.99) — unctuous
tender and great-tasting but fraught with bones; and Veggie Delight ($8.99) —a zesty
Garnishes run hot and cold and bring a lot to the party
The veggie mix (a smaller portion of “veggie delight”) is a close second
and I would rate the OK sweet baked beans in a distant third place
I liked the raw bite of the Kachumbari (think pico de gallo)
but my favorite cold garnishes brought appreciated sweet accents to the bowls’ zippy profiles
sweetened vermicelli (adriyad) and sauteed onions and peppers with raisins (kud kud)
Finishing touches come from DIY sauces such as a spicy but versatile red condiment that tastes like it is based on tomato paste
The fiery and garlicky green sauce is recommended only for thrill-seekers like me
Afra Grill’s food is so gratifying that self-designing a filling and flavorful bowl is basically foolproof
Even if the restaurant gets some requested add-ons wrong — this happened to me — you still are likely to wind up with a meal whose diversely bold and comforting
aromatic and earthy components fit together like a completed jigsaw puzzle of a radiant melting pot

the immersive LBE sector was worth nearly $5 billion
Habo, a strategic planning and market/consumer intelligence studio, has defined immersive experiences following five years of research and market analysis
the immersive location-based entertainment (LBE) sector was worth nearly $5 billion
Its growth continued in 2022 post-pandemic
The immersive LBE industry is diverse
the sector mostly consists of smaller operators running attractions such as escape rooms
“Immersive experiences are a segment of location-based entertainment and take place in a dedicated location outside the home,” says Habo
“They differ from conventional LBE in that they are highly engaging
allowing participants to immerse themselves in the content until they are fully absorbed by it
participants enter a flow state in which they lose track of time and self as their attention focuses entirely on the activity that is underway.”
Habo has analysed immersive global experiences using two axes – technology and participation
This allows the studio to understand market dynamics and gain a better understanding of the competitive landscape
The former categorises experiences according to how much technology is used
The latter categorises each experience according to the visitor’s level of involvement
Immersive LBE experiences fall along a spectrum on each axis
Habo has divided immersive experiences into eight categories according to various levels of technology and interactivity
FECs offer bright and engaging settings, exciting visuals and activities, realistic characters and interactive elements to encourage the whole family to play, such as at KidZania
Lego Discovery Centers and CAMP: A Family Experience Company
These events can include characters played by actors, realistic story-driven sets, and sound and light effects. Guests may influence the way the story unfolds. Popular examples include The Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience
AR and projection technologies to create a unique world – whether it’s another country
the House of Eternal Return and Éternelle Notre-Dame are examples of immersive excursions
Outdoor walkthroughs, like the Harry Potter: A Forbidden Forest and Onwha’ Lumina walkthroughs
They often include spectacular stops featuring multimedia projections
light shows and music to create a fully immersive experience
These social media pop-up attractions are home to pop art
retro environments and unique installations
Visitors are encouraged to take pictures and videos to share on social media as well as touch and admire the experience
in order to create a successful attraction
owners and operators should not only draw inspiration from other thriving attractions but also gain a deep understanding of their audience and the market
A study conducted by Habo showed that there is a widespread enthusiasm for immersive experiences
67% of entertainment consumers say they are interested or very interested in immersive experiences
9% of entertainment consumers say they are very familiar with the immersive experiences available in their area
These findings highlight the importance of comprehending your audience and implementing effective strategies to raise awareness
especially considering the substantial investment and time required to develop an attraction
Habo’s definition was updated as part of a study mandated by XN Québec to explore the commercial potential of immersive experiences in key Western markets

Fish offal can be made suitable as animal and aquafeed
led by IMARES Wageningen UR is exploring this in further detail
In many African countries there is a severe shortage of animal protein (including for livestock and fish)
there is a need for the efficient use of protein sources
Industrial fish processing or small-scale fisheries in many countries produce by-products
These products are fine to use as a source of animal protein
The well-known preservation method ‘silage making’ can be the answer to re-use this waste
A common problem in the utilisation of waste products is that there is often no efficient
small and affordable way is to convert these valuable proteins into suitable animal feed
Fishmeal production is a well-known way to step up fish offal
The preservation method silage making (by using acids) can be an option
The researchers want to look if they can optimize this technique for fish waste
so that fish can remain unrefrigerated for up to six months
A small scale fish silage plant wil be set up in Somalia to exploit the possibilities for tuna waste
the use of fish silage will be tested in animal feed for aquaculture and poultry in Kenya and Ethiopia

Here are some of the new Social Work programme students at the School of Health and Welfare
approximately 470 new students started their education at Jönköping University (JU)
“I work in the emergency room at Ryhov County Hospital in Jönköping and meet many students who study at JU and they like this education very much,” says Lisa Börjesson Larsson from Habo
who will study the Nursing programme at the School of Health and Welfare
will study the Basic Science semester at the School of Engineering
There was anticipation and a certain nervousness among the new students at Jönköping University
About 140 of them will study the Nursing programme and around 55 the Social Work programme at the School of Health and Welfare
about 70 students have registered to study the Basic Science semester at the School of Engineering (JTH) and there are around 170 new international students at JU's four schools
about 30 new students are attending the "Pathway semester English at Campus Gränna where registration is open until 28 January
Lisa Börjesson Larsson works as an assistant nurse and says it feels natural for her to study to become a nurse
I look forward to learning a lot and meeting new people
I also meet students from other health universities
but I hear mostly good things about the School of Health and Welfare in Jönköping.”
She was nervous before the start of the semester
Programme Manager for the Nursing programme
gave her reassuring information during the introduction
so it feels good what she (Tillan) said about not having to chase the highest grade in every course
but that it is fine to be "good enough"
Tillan Strand told the students that they have three tough
but fun and eventful years ahead of them and that
just like the children in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
it is important to have "eyes on the prize"
which in their case means their graduation
will study the Social Work programme at the School of Health and Welfare
“I have four friends who study here and one of them is studying the Social Work programme
so I have heard very good things about the School of Health and Welfare and this education
Both teachers and student life should be good here
who is interested in studying Architectural Engineering at JTH this autumn has now started the Basic Science semester at the school to get a guaranteed place for that education
“I have always wanted to study something in architecture or community planning and Jönköping felt cozy to study in
so I think it will be good here,” says Clara Brünahl
programme manager for the Basic Science semester at JTH
mentions that his students will get a solid foundation in natural science subjects to be able to start the autumn's engineering studies with good prior knowledge and self-confidence

The bridges in Mosul over the Tigris river were the most damaged infrastructure during the ISIS war
Although three years has passed since the government retook control of the city and declared victory on 10 December 2017
Reconstruction of the bridges has been taking place at a slow pace in those three years
and few bridges have been reopened for traffic
The ’Roads and Bridges Directorate’ of the Nineveh province (of which Mosul is the centre) declared on 10 December 2020 the reopening of the bridge in Zummar subdistrict which was destroyed by ISIS militants
The date is chosen to coincide with the “Liberation Victory'' day
said that the reconstruction of the bridge took nine months
“The bridge will help reduce the heavy traffic inside the Zummar subdistrict
and replace the alternative roads which were difficult to use by the subdistrict’s residents for travelling back and forth to Mosul City.”
News of Guér (al-Kwair) Bridge reconstruction
The head of the ‘General Directorate of Roads and Bridges’
announced that the reconstruction of the Guér Bridge in Nineveh province is funded by a load from the German Development Bank
He added that the allocated budget for the reconstruction
and that the job will be done by two local firms with the advisory supervision of a German one (Dorsch Group)
is located over the Greater Zap river and links Nineveh province with Kirkuk province
The ‘Roads and Bridges Directorate’ in Nineveh revealed that reconstruction work will continue on the Qayyara bridge despite the COIVD-19 outbreak.
The Qayyara Bridge reconstruction is also funded by a loan from the German Development Bank and costs 3,729,000 Euros
Reconstruction of Bridge 3 in Mosul is at 75%
75% of the Bridge 3 in Mosul was reconstructed by the Ashur company
1 July 2020 – reopening of a bridge in Shirqat
al-Habo has told KirkukNow earlier that his directorate was responsible for 59 bridges in Nineveh
and that 57 of those bridges were destroyed by ISIS during the war
Temporary bridges have been placed over the rivers to function as replacement for the destroyed ones
One of those temporary bridges collapsed on 28 April 2020 when a truck weighing 50 tons crossed it
while the bridge had the capacity of withstanding 20 tons
The incident caused the closure of the vital road
which connects Mosul with other northern provinces
