Youri Tielemans scored to boost Aston Villa’s European hopes and damage Fulham’s
3d ago15.54 CESTJohn McGinn also spoke to TNT: “A massive three points. It keeps us in the hunt for the Champions League spots. As you get older you start to appreciate it a bit more. You want to achieve as much as possible. Last week was a huge setback, but we keep going.”
3d ago15.42 CESTYouri Tielemans
we know we have to win them to have a chance to be in the Champions League next season
“This afternoon was a good win. A tough opponent, Fulham are a very good team. We could have finished the game earlier, but credit to the guys. Good fight and good win.”
“I’ve tried to take care of my body and just play the games and enjoy my football. It is the biggest European competition club wise. We have had a taste this season and ,we want to do it again.”
3d ago15.29 CESTFull-time: Aston Villa 1-0 FulhamVilla are firmly in the hunt for the Champions League
Fulham’s European chances in the balance now
3d ago15.25 CEST90+7 min: Traore’s cross is cleared – just – by Konsa. Fulham pushing on and on.
3d ago15.24 CEST90+6 min: Traore sets off on a rumbling run, and Digne tackles him to cheers and jeers.
3d ago15.23 CEST90+5 min: Malen is sent through but…hits the bar. Oh no. Emery doesn’t know what to do. He’s at first angry and then encouraging. But always manic.
3d ago15.22 CEST90+3 min: This is nervous at the Villa. They have failed to kill off a still-dangerous opponent.
3d ago15.20 CEST90+2 min: Fulham fans fancy this one, despite their 10 men. Their team is dominating possession. Anderson’s ball fails to find Castagne.
3d ago15.19 CEST90 min: There will be eight minutes of time added on. The Villa fans groan but there have been loads of stoppages. The referee gets abused for…doing his job.
3d ago15.18 CEST89 min: Rogers and Cash double team on Traore, and the ball is behind for a goal-kick.
3d ago15.14 CEST85 min: Malen and Bassey collide, and the defender goes to ground. Malen goes on and on – he’s such a lively player – but maybe not the best finisher. His shot goes somewhere near Solihull. Marco Silva is booked for complaining that play was allowed to go on.
3d ago15.12 CEST83 min: Poor Harrison Reed has to limp down the tunnel, head in hands. That’s a sad sight.
3d ago15.08 CEST80 min: Jeers as Traore – former Wolves player – chases the ball and runs it out of play.
3d ago15.08 CEST78 min: Cash will be OK to continue but sore in the morning
almost gets on the end as Rogers attacks the space down the right
zings the ball in and Leno makes a point-blank block that forces Malen to miss
3d ago15.04 CEST74 min: More changes: Harrison Reed and Willian on, Iwobi and Berge off. Iwobi looked like he had plenty more to offer. Reed comes on to take the latest terrible free-kick.
3d ago15.02 CEST72 min: Villa have such a talented squad, so well constructed, with more to come, if an expensive wage bill. Emery is a manager prepared to rotate squads and sell to buy.
3d ago15.00 CEST70 min: More Villa changes: Donyell Malen for Watkins
The latter change surely made with Traore in mind
3d ago14.56 CEST67 min: Two Fulham changes: Tete and Wilson off, Castagne and Traore on. That should add some spice down the wings.
3d ago14.55 CEST66 min: Berge is booked for a foul on Tielemans. The Norwegian hasn’t enjoyed himself at all.
3d ago14.53 CEST64 min: A chance to Harry Wilson, and one he could have done rather better with.
3d ago14.53 CEST63 min: Justin Kavanagh: “Wow! Unai Emery was so enraged by Konsa’s dithering that he probably threw more punches at the air than Ryan Garcia did in Times Square last night. If I was Konsa, I’d ask Marco Silva if he could use the visitor’s dressing room after the game.”
Will Oliver: “John, can you translate Unai’s tantrum into English? That looked like angry Cricket or baseball.”
3d ago14.51 CEST61 min: Maatsen, who’s been lively, pings in a shot. Though was it a cross? It’s end of season stuff though with plenty to play for.
3d ago14.48 CEST59 min: It’s Ramsey and Onana on, McGinn and Asensio off. McGinn hands the armband to Emi Martinez.
3d ago14.46 CEST56 min: It’s full-pelt stuff, and Alex Iwobi is coming more to the fore. Looks like Emery has seen enough and wants to make changes.
3d ago14.42 CEST54 min: Fulham break at speed. Emery is furious as Wilson goes early with his effort. That’s a meme-able reaction. He went absolutely radio rental.
3d ago14.41 CEST53 min: Can Villa ride out the storm? They have a free-kick, which is again wasted by being smashed at Harry Wilson’s shins. Not another McPhee classic.
3d ago14.40 CEST51 min: Nicholas von Maltzahn gets in touch: “Gary Naylor’s poetic sense of the occasion at Anfield (35 min) was shared by your colleague Barney Ronay, who had this in his write-up last Sunday:
“Even the trains north had carried a gathering excitement, like a Whitsun wedding weekend, whoops and skirls down the platform at each stopping point, the feeling of Liverpool spread out in the sun up ahead.”
Barney – like me – is a big fan of Hull’s most famous librarian.
3d ago14.39 CEST50 min: Fulham have the ball in the net
Rob Jones the ref bided his time…good process
3d ago14.34 CEST46 min: We are back underway and Villa almost score straight away, as Watkins has a golden chance to score but loses the run of himself. That’s a bad miss, Ollie.
3d ago14.19 CESTHalf-time: Aston Villa 1-0 FulhamIt closes out with Iwobi going close: he smashes wide. Villa have been the better team, but have failed to build on Tielemans’ goal. Much to play for in the second half, and with plenty at stake.
3d ago14.17 CEST45 min: Ooof, Tielemans smashes the ball after being laid up by McGinn. A screamer, and what a save from Leno. No corner given, but then the Villa screens show the German got a touch…boooooo! Just a minute added on. It’s been breathless, all-action.
3d ago14.16 CEST44 min: Kenny Tete penalised. That’s a second foul from him. He looks annoyed with the ref.
3d ago14.15 CEST43 min: Fulham just can’t get into it. Villa are all over their midfield and yet don’t look too dangerous…..oh here’s a chance for Jimenez, who finds no support so has a dig from distance.
3d ago14.13 CEST42 min: Bad free-kick time: a waste of a promising position as Sasa Lukic thrashes the ball into the wall.
3d ago14.11 CEST40 min: Cash is sent away by Asensio but there Villa hit heavy traffic. Fulham are defending deep.
3d ago14.10 CEST39 min: Leno slides out to hack away a ball aimed at Watkins. Villa seeking a second before half-time.
3d ago14.10 CEST38 min: Rogers – at last – shows off his skill, bobbing and weaving but his ball to Watkins is intercepted.
3d ago14.08 CEST37 min: Villa with most of the ball but not looking too sharp in attack
They’re rather grinding through the gears here
The good news for Hull City fan Phil is that his team are out of danger. For now.
3d ago14.06 CEST34 min: Fulham free-kick, aimed at Jimenez, with calls for a Matty Cash pull. There was zero contact so we play on.
3d ago14.05 CEST33 min: A push on Watkins? No says referee Rob Jones. The Fulham Jolly Boys make themselves heard for the first time. Their team has not been too good so far. Not that Villa are flying.
3d ago14.03 CESTPeter Lansley31 min: From Villa Park. This was a strange moment:
“Strange little irritation for Villa after their goal. Morgan Rogers, having contributed the pre-assist before the assist, his pass releasing Asensio to shoot to win the corner, is asked to stay off the pitch for 30 seconds after he went to change his shirt on the touchline in the downtime between goal and kick-off. He was well grumpy about that.”
3d ago14.02 CEST30 min: Yellow card for Sessegnon for hauling back Maatsen. A cheap yellow, too.
Youri Tielemans' first-half header was his third Premier League goal of the season
Aston Villa recovered from their FA Cup semi-final defeat by Crystal Palace as they overcame Fulham in the Premier League to boost hopes of a top-five finish
Unai Emery's side were beaten 3-0 at Wembley last time out but put that disappointment behind them with a hard-fought victory
It moves them level on points with Chelsea
who occupy the fifth and final Champions League spot
Villa took the lead after 12 minutes when the influential Youri Tielemans directed a firm header past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno from John McGinn's inswinging corner
Ollie Watkins should have made it 2-0 early in the second half but failed to get a decisive touch on Matty Cash's low cross
Fulham were denied an equaliser not long afterwards when Ryan Sessegnon had a low left-footed drive disallowed for handball
Leno then denied Watkins with his legs after Morgan Rogers picked out the striker with an exquisite pass
and Donyell Malen rattled the crossbar with a fierce strike late on
but Fulham were unable to trouble Emiliano Martinez at the other end
Marco Silva's Fulham slip to ninth after Bournemouth's win at Arsenal in Saturday's late game
and the Cottagers could end the weekend in the bottom half of the table if other results go against them
Have your say on Aston Villa’s performance
Premier League: Villa beat Fulham - and updates from all Saturday's games
Emery motivated to keep Champions league ‘dream’ alive
Saturday's win was Villa's seventh in nine Premier League games – a run that has taken them from mid-table obscurity to the brink of the Champions League places with three matches remaining
Tielemans was the driving force against Fulham
pulling the strings in Villa's midfield after giving them an early lead with his fifth goal of the season
The Belgium international nearly fashioned a second before half-time with a perfectly weighted pass into Watkins
but Leno was off his line quickly to prevent the forward from doubling Villa's advantage
Leno then did well to get the faintest of touches to a ferocious Tielemans drive on the stroke of half-time – but referee Robert Jones failed to spot the German's intervention and awarded a Fulham goal-kick
The hosts were relieved to see Sessegnon's effort chalked off following a video assistant referee (VAR) review
and Harry Wilson failed to steer a magnificent Alex Iwobi pass beyond Martinez as Fulham started the second half with greater intent
the hosts should have won by a more comfortable margin
Watkins will be frustrated not to have got the goal which would have made him Villa's outright Premier League leading scorer
and Malen was denied a fourth goal in six league games by the woodwork
But the three points were what mattered for Emery's team
who remain seventh but now are firmly in the Champions League picture
commitmment and attitude despite loss - Silva
Eighth place could yet be enough to secure European football this season
but Silva's side have a battle on their hands after Bournemouth's win at Emirates Stadium and Brighton and Brentford still breathing down their necks
Fulham created some promising attacks in the opening 10 minutes
but Villa's opener was a soft one to concede as Tielemans escaped the attentions of midfielder Sasa Lukic before beating Leno
After registering only one effort on target before the break - a curling Iwobi shot which was easily held by Martinez - the visitors carried more of a threat early in the second period
Sessegnon's goal was ruled out because the ball struck the 24-year-old's left hand as he set himself up for the shot
and Wilson very nearly got on the end of Iwobi's pass not long afterwards as Martinez came racing off his line
who have now lost six of their past 10 games in the league – as many as in their first 25 games of the campaign

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta speaking to Premier League Productions: "We had so many big spaces and big opportunities to score but we didn't
When you concede goals from set pieces it's very difficult to earn the three points."
On why Bournemouth won: "Because we don't finish the actions and you give so many simple balls away
They (Bournemouth) run and in transition they are really good
On conceding from set pieces: "We lost points against Crystal Palace and Fulham (because of set pieces)
On whether the side have lost momentum before facing PSG: "It didn't create the right momentum
On whether Timber will miss Wednesday's game: "Yeah there's a chance."

Bournemouth
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola speaking to Sky Sports: "I like the game overall
The key was the set plays in the second half
In the end in these close games to make the difference with the set plays was the key to take the three points
On staying patient: "I think we have been at half time talking about a good first half
They (Arsenal) are going to have chances but we were playing well
Antoine (Semenyo) coming from the bench was a good spark at that moment when both teams were tired
On Semenyo's long throws: "Yes we hardly score any
We have a couple of players who can put in dangerous throws
Today (the throw) was longer than I expected
but it's a nice moment to score this type of goal."
On goalscorer Dean Huijsen: "I think he is playing very well
Even in this scenario being on the ball he was confident
I think it's the third goal he's scored on set plays
he's our biggest threat there and he's helping us a lot."
On getting three points:"I think we needed this one because we know the schedule we have
you have to get points where you don't expect
We missed a few chances recently and we needed it this time to go to our side."

speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "The main thing is breaking a cycle
Not scoring at home for a while and we know we needed to get that done especially with the situation we are in and hopefully we can improve and take that momentum into next season
It's not like we have not given our all
The gap being promoted to the Prem now is probably the biggest it has ever been so it's even more difficult."
On playing for Leicester for 13 years: "It's been everything
It's been mine and my family's life for 13 years
We've been taken in for by the fans and the whole city and it has meant every single thing to me personally
"When it's been your life for that long and you see the comradery with the fans and my team-mates for the last 13 years
On being thought of as Leicester's best player: "There have been a lot of unbelievable players for this club so to be mentioned like that is a really nice feeling
There's still a few more games where hopefully there can be a few more numbers added."
On blowing the referee's whistle: "I saw Southampton breaking down the left and with the ref down I thought I'll blow his whistle to stop the game."
On his future: "I couldn't tell you at this moment in time
I am enjoying my football and I need a nice break to mentally
and physically fully refresh and then we'll see where that goes."

On top of that if you defend your box in two set-pieces in the way we have done you're in big

We wanted to end this cycle and end the season with some positivity
If there was one player to break this cycle
Very important for him and the team to get us in front
We know with this home cycle without a win
it has been difficult especially with a striker like him in the team
We knew we were creating and now the two [goals] went in and that gave us a big lift
"Everything comes to an end and for him it is clear he wants to move on
He wants to close this in the best way possible and that's what we have to respect
The most important thing is to look back at his career here
The crowd start realising it is the farewell tour of Jamie
With Forest and Ipswich to come for him to hopefully score his 200th goal."
On young talent in squad: "It's shaping the future what we're working on

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history
West Ham United secured the FA Cup for the second time in the Club’s history by defeating Fulham on this day 50 years ago - and you can enjoy the goals again here
Alan Taylor scored both goals in a 2-0 victory over their Second Division opponents at Wembley
firing home two close-range finishes and delighting the Claret and Blue Army members in the 100,000-strong crowd
Billy Bonds captained the Irons to glory against a Fulham side that included his predecessor
having recovered from injury just in time to lead the Irons out at the Home of Football
“I’d picked up a niggly groin strain before Christmas and it’d got progressively worse as we got into our 1974/75 FA Cup run,” Bonds recalled
I’d seen specialists who wanted to operate
had cortisone injections and taken some horrible-tasting pain-killers to get me through our ties against Southampton
while I had to miss nine of our last dozen league games
“Going into the final against Fulham it was still touch and go whether I’d play
I’m only 75% fit and I’m worried I won’t last 90 minutes’
I got through my first-ever Wembley final and Alan Taylor’s two goals meant that I finally got to lift a trophy for the Hammers
“Everyone remembers Bobby Moore playing for Fulham that afternoon – I’d been in awe of him since I’d met him as a 14-year-old kid – and as a former West Ham team-mate
we all went and shook his hand because we had such tremendous respect for him
who’d been a big part of my life both in terms of football and how he’d brought me up
He had a window-cleaning round and you could see the spring in his step as he walked off with his ladders knowing that I now had an FA Cup winner’s medal in my pocket!”
Taylor and West Ham’s fantastic afternoon at Wembley again here!

Fulham star Raul Jimenez has admitted he is waiting on the club to renew his deal and give him another year at the club
TUDN have an interview with Jimenez today in which he’s asked about his contract situation
and his goal of replacing Chicharito Hernandez as Mexico’s top goal scorer
Jimenez is currently in the final months of his contract with Fulham
with his deal set to expire at the end of the season
have an option to extend it by another year so any potential transfer talk has been put to one side for the time being
It remains to be seen whether Marco Silva’s side will take up that option
despite Jimenez having managed ten goals and three assists in 34 games in the Premier League this season
The Mexican striker is also unaware of what the plan is
admitting the power remains entirely in Fulham’s hands
what I’m looking forward to,” he said.0
“It’s Fulham’s choice to activate it just and it would be another year
While the focus is on remaining in Europe in his club career
there is also a determination to keep featuring for Mexico
Jimenez has established himself as a key player with the national team once again after being pushed out by the previous regime
making him their third highest goal scorer ever behind Jared Borgetti and Chicharito
and Jimenez has that record firmly in his sights
the records are there to break them,” he added
it’s not something that takes my sleep off
but it’s something I’d like and if you can I’m going to try to reach it.”

Cassie: Some of the Villa players looked tired after a long season
It was a game they needed to win,but didn't take advantage when Fulham only had 10 players on the pitch
Boubacar Kamara is an unsung hero and again he played a blinder
Ian: A very controlled solid performance with a good early goal but missed chances made for a nervy ending to the game
Tony: A disjointed performance against a pedestrian opponent with little to really shout about apart from the points
Youri Tielemans worked tirelessly and was the pick of the bunch and Donyell Malen impressed when he came on
Ollie Watkins had another day to forget sadly
Only the points make any impression after the event
taking off Ian Maatsen and John McGinn when both were playing well
and leaving Pau Torres on when he was having a stinker..
hard to work out what Unai Emery was thinking
David: As with last week against Southampton
we didn't get going until the second half
Much better then but ultimately not enough firepower up front
Has been said previously here but we still miss Aleksandar Mitrovic
Probably a season too soon for Europe so maybe it's no bad thing not to qualify
Rob: Lacking passion, drive and imagination. A golden opportunity missed to pick up points against a Villa side low on confidence after their FA Cup defeat. Bournemouth showed how to do it against Arsenal
taking the game to them in the second half and having a right go at them
Why oh why couldn't Fulham have done the same against Villa
Bill: Things seem to be falling apart right now
the team look knackered and without inspiration
Silva's tactics and substitutions are often ludicrous
as twice now we've gone down to 10 men because of his decisions to use all his subs
You must hold one back in case of injuries surely?
We've fallen to 11th in 24 hours - not just disappointing but very worrying
Robert: I thought Fulham had to beat the ref if they were to get anything out of the game
but will Yamal build legacy to rival Messi

Watch Aston Villa v Fulham highlights as a Youri Tielemans header saw Unai Emery's side boost their Champions League hopes with a narrow Premier League win over Fulham
Our U18 Premier League South title hopes came to an end with a 4-3 defeat away to Fulham on Saturday
The result leaves us fourth in the division
with just one game left to be played this season.
Bradley Slade gave Fulham an early lead at Motspur Park before goals from Macauley Zepa and Brodie Dair gave the hosts a 3-0 advantage
We responded with a quick double on the brink of half-time though courtesy of Max Dowman and Dan Casey
Dair then completed a brace before Casey scored his second to make it 4-3
Fulham took an early lead when a Zepa corner saw the ball ricochet in our penalty area
Zepa got himself on the scoresheet moments later
cutting inside and smashing the ball into the top left corner for 2-0
Dair then beat the offside trap and put his effort just wide
before Fulham were awarded a penalty that was missed by Jayden Quashie
Zepa darting down the byline and crossing for Dair to tap-in
Dowman going on a great run and seeing his right-footed effort saved before Casey was thwarted by Dino Kaiser
There was nothing he could do about our next attempt though
Louie Zecevic-John forcing a save that spilled the ball into Dowman’s path
All he had to do was tap it across the line for his 12th goal in his last six matches
Casey’s form shouldn’t be overshadowed though
He pulled another back for us by lobbing the goalkeeper
That took him up to 17 league goals this season
Casey saw his next effort go wide after cutting inside early in the second half
but our comeback was halted when Fulham made it 4-2 in the 56th minute
a mix-up at the back allowing the ball to fall for Dair
who again reduced the arrears when we counter-attacked from a Fulham corner
Ceadach O’Neill played Casey in behind the defence and he toe-poked it into the bottom right
We almost equalised when Dowman had a left-footed effort tipped onto the post
and his following free-kick from just outside the box went wide
Talbot made a top save to deny Zepa his second before Dowman saw another attempt go just over the bar

Aston Villa can boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League with a win over Fulham this weekend
Unai Emery's side welcome the Cottagers to Villa Park
A defeat to Manchester City last time out meant they fell slightly off the pace in the race for Europe this season
However, three points in the early kick-off would leave them level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea, who face Liverpool on Sunday
Fulham aren't going to make things easy, though, as they are also eyeing a European spot in the Premier League
Marco Silva's men are eighth in the table
and that could end up being enough to qualify
The Spaniard has won all six of his Premier League games against the Londoners
There are just four examples of a manager having more games with a 100 per cent win rate against an opponent in the top-flight
Pep Guardiola has the best perfect record against a team, beating Watford in 10 out of 10 fixtures against them.
Ex-Man City boss Roberto Mancini has seven wins from seven games against Wigan
so Emery can equal his and Mourinho's runs with another victory this weekend
On whether this game is a must-win for Villa
Emery said: “Every match is important to win
dominate our gameplan through our positioning
and our moment now in the Premier League is the objective we were dreaming of two years ago
but always being ambitious to be in Europe
“How we are sharing our season with our supporters
This Premier League clash will take place on Saturday

Another epic and must-see season of Premier League football awaits at Craven Cottage
the Club would like to thank supporters for their continued support over the course of what has been another memorable campaign in SW6
With a fourth successive top-flight season to look forward to
we are excited and extremely proud to continue our journey together
Season Ticket prices for the 2025/26 campaign across all stands and categories will be increasing by 2.8%
The Club recognises and respects that financial challenges can impact both supporters and organisations
It\'s why the decision to implement a modest increase was made with careful consideration
largely driven by the continued rise in matchday and operational costs faced by the Club year-on-year
Our ambition to be financially sustainable
as well as competitive on the pitch in an ever-demanding Premier League
are also always important factors when deliberating ticket prices
and that was certainly the case this season as well
the Club engaged and consulted with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB) on pricing strategy for the upcoming season
and the discourse was both constructive and influential in arriving at a 2.8% increase
We are grateful for the time and commitment of the FAB and hope its experience was as positive for its board members as it was for the Club
The FAB commented:"This marks the first time the FAB has been involved in the season ticket pricing decision-making process
and we were pleased to make a meaningful contribution
The Club engaged constructively with our input and ultimately adopted a straightforward inflationary increase—one we believe strikes a fair balance between maintaining affordability for supporters and supporting the Club’s long-term financial sustainability goals."
The increase for an adult season ticket is less than £1 per game in some parts of the ground and less than £5 per game in The Riverside
our commitment to investing in the Club’s future generation of fans remains firm
with junior season tickets starting from just £8 per game
Season Tickets continue to represent incredible value to watch all 19 Premier League home fixtures at our historic home of Craven Cottage while supporting a Fulham squad
that offers a thrilling brand of football which today sees us in the top half of the table
we are extremely appreciative of your faithful support as a Season Ticket Holder
with more supporters attending matches at Craven Cottage than ever and the passion for Fulham Football Club reaching new heights
the Club is delighted to announce that new season tickets will be made available for 2025/26
with priority given to those who are currently signed to our season ticket waiting list
Welcoming additional season ticket members to Fulham Football Club will help to guarantee the positive and energetic environment that always makes a difference to our squad and your experience every matchday at Craven Cottage
We can\'t wait to see you at our final two home matches of this season
we are happy to share the following information in relation to your 2025/26 season ticket package. As always
Renewals will commence from 1pm on Monday 12th May
All existing Season Ticket Holders will be contacted with their exact price for the 2025/26 season via email and post w/c 12th May
a finance option will be available for purchasing season tickets
providing fans the option to spread the cost of their Season Ticket over 4
This will once again be managed through the approved credit partner
All seats will be held for existing Season Ticket Holders to renew their seat until the renewal deadline of 5pm
Supporters are encouraged to renew at their exclusive renewal price ahead of this deadline
before any unrenewed seats are subsequently released
Season Ticket Holders who renew for 2025/26 will have opportunity to move seats on Tuesday 10th June at 10am
you must have renewed an existing seat for the 2025/26 campaign to be eligible to relocate to another area of the ground
Following their successful launch last summer
digital season passes will continue to be issued at Craven Cottage
A digital pass will be the default option for all Season Ticket Holders; however
those supporters who qualify for exemption will be contacted in advance of the new season offering an alternate method of entry
Any supporters looking to purchase a new Season Ticket for the first time, or to buy additional season tickets, please join the Season Ticket Waiting List today where you will be contacted with further information.

they have gone out of the Champions League and FA Cup
and losing their last Premier League game has left them playing catch-up in the top-five race
I don't think Unai Emery's side will crumble from here
even if Marcus Rashford's season-ending injury is a big blow
and they also need a big performance from Ollie Watkins
If he starts banging the goals in again then that would be a huge boost for their run-in
and they are certainly capable of getting something here
I don't think Villa can keep a clean sheet - which probably means they will stop Fulham scoring - but I have a feeling things will click for them in front of goal
their fans can help to get them over the line

Unai Emery's side will have to bounce back from weekend disappointment, however, after losing 3-0 to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley Stadium
They missed the opportunity to set up a date with Man City in the showpiece fixture
Fulham can still qualify for European football should they finish high enough in the Premier League and other factors fall in their favour - including who wins the FA Cup and where Carabao Cup winners Newcastle United finish in the table
Should they surprise Villa on Saturday and taste victory in the Midlands
then they will move within just three points of their hosts
Here is Sports Illustrated's guide to the clash
Marcus Rashford could miss the rest of the season / IMAGO / Action PlusVilla have just one absentee for Fulham's visit and that's the in-form Marcus Rashford
The Manchester United loanee missed the FA Cup clash with Palace due to a hamstring injury and reports suggest he could miss the rest of the campaign
Emery will be able to select his strongest XI
He's unlikely to make many changes from the Wembley defeat - although he will expect a much stronger performance - but Jacob Ramsey could replace Marco Asensio
Antonee Robinson is a doubt for the Cottagers / IMAGO / News ImagesFulham are expected to be without Antonee Robinson on Saturday after the USMNT international missed the victory over Southampton last time out with a knee problem
Ryan Sessegnon is likely to replace him after scoring the late winner at St Mary's Stadium
Reiss Nelson and Rodrigo Muniz are Fulham's other absentees
the former a long-term injury and the latter missing since the defeat at Bournemouth several weeks ago
Raul Jimenez will lead the line as Muniz continues his recovery
Villa don't find themselves in the sharpest form and have suffered disappointment in the FA Cup
Premier League and Champions League over recent weeks
they remain the favourites for this one and are particularly effective on home turf this season
Fulham will cause them issues with their array of unique attacking threats but Marco Silva's side are without a clean sheet in six matches and may be undone by the attacking efficiency of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers

Our under-18s make the short trip across London for a clash with Fulham on Saturday
Kick-off at Motspur Park is scheduled for 11am (UK time)
Adam Birchall’s side are still in the U18 Premier League South title race
we extended our unbeaten run to eight matches with a thrilling 4-4 draw with Tottenham in the north London derby
Fulham’s under-18s have had a strong 2024/2025 season
with 10 wins and three draws in their 22 league matches
The Cottagers also reached the last 16 of the FA Youth Cup
but were beaten 2-1 by our young Gunners at Motspur Park
Saturday’s opponents began a seven-match winless run
which included another 2-1 defeat to us at the Sobha Realty Training Centre
but the west London side have bounced back
Tom Wingate has been Fulham’s biggest threat this season
including one against us in the reverse fixture
Live updates will be available on our academy’s X page, with a full match report published on Arsenal.com after the final whistle
Stay tuned for post-match interviews with Adam Birchall and one of our young Gunners
along with highlights of all the key moments from the game
In our Young Whites’ penultimate game of the season
we found ourselves 3-0 up after 30 minutes thanks to goals from Bradley Slade
Ali Melloul’s side were made to pay for a sloppy end to the half though
Dair made it a brace shortly after the restart
but the Gunners made sure of a nervy ending as Dan Casey reduced the deficit again
but we held out to make it three straight victories
Early set-pieces brought us some joy against Brighton last time out – and we were similarly effective from dead ball situations here
Zepa’s whipped corner was met by Slade’s outstretched leg to give us an early lead
Slade was then released down the left side shortly after
pinging a dangerous cross on the half volley into the box
but there was no attacker on the end of it
he wrapped his boot around the ball and unleashed a powerful shot which flied over Jack Talbot
and he won a penalty as he danced into the box and was tripped
Captain Jayden Quashie saw his penalty saved
with Talbot guessing the right way as our midfielder rolled the ball to his left
The winger was once again involved as we increased our lead even further
and Dair was there to fire home his first Fulham goal
who scored in both of our previous meetings with Arsenal this season
took matters into his own hands as he went on a mazy run from left to right
but he was off balance and off target as he shot towards Kaiser’s goal
Kaiser made an outstanding stop on the stroke of half-time
scrambling across his line and throwing himself in the way of Ceadach O’Neill’s shot from a few yards out
Dowman did get his goal with just a minute of normal time to play
left all alone in the box to tap home after Kaiser had initially made a save
And Casey ensured that the moods were very different at half-time as he halved the deficit
It was double delight for Dair as the two-goal advantage was restored 10 minutes after the interval
Talbot made a good initial save from Aidan Evans
although he could only parry the ball into the path of Dair
who smashed the rebound in via a deflection
A hat-trick almost arrived moments later as the striker curled a delicious strike narrowly past the post
This was becoming an end-to-end affair as Casey doubled his tally for the afternoon
poking the ball beyond an onrushing Kaiser
Kaiser’s stop to deny Dowman was special
The Arsenal attacker created a yard of space
getting away from Slade and drilling a shot towards the near corner
but our Bosnia youth international sprung to his left to keep the effort out
There was plenty of whip on Dowman’s free-kick in the 78th minute – and Kaiser had his post to thank as it smashed off the woodwork
but our Young Whites were keen to kill off the contest
Talbot kept Arsenal in it during the final minutes
Another Dowman curler looked destined for the top corner
meaning we held out for another impressive victory
Our U18s finish the season with a trip to Tottenham on Wednesday morning

An early Youri Tielemans header from a corner was the difference as Fulham fell to a 1-0 defeat
not many chances for them and they scored from a set piece," said the Manager
"Our reaction in the last 10 minutes (of the first half) was a little bit better
We started to be much more aggressive in the pressure moments
"Second half reaction was very good from us
and we knew we had to go and try to press a bit more
Harry Wilson has a great chance for us to equalise
great attitude towards the end of the match
and very important for us to get the three points."

“This is just brilliant,” Ian said
“I’d love to do this more often

He even suggested more residents should be part of future outings

The Saturday lunchtime kick-off sees seventh face eighth at Villa Park, and a win for Fulham would see us move within three points of Unai Emery’s side.
“Big, big game,” said Silva. “Big, big game for us, and I really believe it’s a big game for Villa too. An amazing place to play football, a great environment to be in. The pressure from the Villa supporters is going to be big.
“It’s a great challenge for us, another great test. We really love to play in these types of games, and we need to step in and show our quality.
“We need to show why this is like another final for us, show why we’re only just behind them in the table – a team that achieved the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League, a team that attacked the market in January, showing the ambition that they have. They were able to sign players like [Marcus] Rashford, [Donyell] Malen and [Marco] Asensio for the attacking line.
“We are talking about a team that showed their ambition, not just last pre-season, but in January by making five signings. They were really assertive and Unai is always saying about the solutions he has, and the competition he has in the squad. They have high quality all round their squad – and it’s going to be a great test for us.
“They are very well managed as well, with a clear idea of how they want to play. We have to play at our best. It’s a clear final for both sides and we need to show our quality and personality.”
Champions League Quarter-Finalists and FA Cup Semi-Finalists, Emery continues to take Villa from strength-to-strength, but they have been defeated in their last two outings.
A congested schedule saw them play eight games during April and Saturday’s meeting at Villa Park will be their 54th match of the season.
Silva was asked whether we can take advantage of any potential tiredness that Villa may be experiencing as they head towards the conclusion of their busy season.
“They played so many Champions League games this season in a great way,” he said. “We have to give all the credit to them, because it’s not easy playing at that level in the Champions League, against some of the best sides in Europe.
“They have been able to play a team in the Champions League and then rotate four or five players for the Premier League. They are one of the teams that can do this in a better way because they have eleven who play, and then seven, eight or nine who can come in and the level won’t drop. That shows the quality they have.”
Both sides needed extra-time to book their spot in the last eight
with Hayden Mullins’ men beating Nottingham Forest 1-0
while Southampton defeated Leicester City 5-3 in a thriller at St Mary’s
The winner of this Quarter-Final clash will face Crystal Palace away next weekend
The Saints finished seventh in the PL2 standings
while they also reached the Semi-Finals of the Premier League Cup
That cup journey came to an end last week with a 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford
but their form in 2025 has been impressive
Calum McFarlane’s side have won seven of their 11 PL2 matches
a run which started with a 5-0 victory over our Young Whites in January
Centre-back Samuel Amissah was on media duties ahead of the trip to the South Coast
“We always believed that we’d score [against Forest],’ he said
“The boys like this type of tournament football because it puts more pressure on us to perform
“Having to factor that our season will be over if we don’t win these games
The more pressure that we put on ourselves
so this game is kind of like redemption.”
Tickets can be purchased via Southampton’s website. Adults can watch this Quarter-Final clash for a fiver, while tickets for concessions cost £3.
This game can’t be streamed due to it clashing with a televised Premier League fixture.
There will be live updates on @FulhamAcademy on X, with reaction and highlights to follow on our website.

Supporters will then be able to read part two in the matchday programme for the west London derby against Fulham on Sunday 18 May (3pm kick-off BST)
In the programme for the clash against the Red Devils
the Danish midfielder opened up on his concerns ahead of the 2024/25 campaign and how a few words of encouragement from one of Thomas Frank's coaching staff
made a big difference before the season-opener against Crystal Palace
“Even back in pre-season, I felt a little bit anxious about where I was and where the team was going into this season after a season where we were struggling a little bit,” Nørgaard begins
“I remember Kevin O’Connor came to me just before the warm-up against Crystal Palace in the first game of the season
you’ve been f****** fantastic this pre-season
you’re such a good leader and we’re all behind you’
“It was something like that and it was a bit out of the blue
I’ve thought about that little conversation and those small words which
but for me it was the right moment and the right time to hear those words
“I’ve leaned a little bit upon those words whenever I’ve needed them this season to know that there is a lot of support for me in my role both from the coaching staff but also the players.”
the 31-year-old also discusses proving people wrong
the achievement of securing a fifth-successive year in the Premier League and why both him and Brentford do not need external plaudits

Villa have now equalled their 17-match record unbeaten home run in the Premier League
and are level on points with Nottingham Forest
intimated that the Champions League might have been out of reach if they had lost this game
Asked whether it would be an advantage to be playing Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the final two league games either side of the Europa League final those two plan to be contesting
Emery replied: “Bournemouth next week – so
We want to be close for Europe but there is Nottingham Forest

ending up in the Europa League come the end of summer would feel like something of an anticlimax for Villa
● Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last 17 home games in the Premier League (W10 D7)

● Fulham have lost six of their last 10 Premier League games (W4)

including four of their last five on the road
as many as their prior 18 matches (W8 D6 L4)
● Only Arsenal and Crystal Palace (both 16) have scored more Premier League goals this season from set pieces (excluding penalties) than Aston Villa (15)
● Youri Tielemans delivered his tenth Premier League goal involvement of the season (three goals
his joint-most in a single campaign in the competition (also in 2020-21 and 2021-22)
Thank you for your feedback.Morgan Rogers set about attacking Fulham with vim
and played an incisive low diagonal ball for Marco Asensio whose reluctance to shoot with his right foot did at least earn a corner
John McGinn floated the cross in with his left foot and from near the front post Tielemans was not unduly troubled by markers as he headed powerfully home his fifth Villa goal of the season
View image in fullscreenYouri Tielemans heads home the winner for Aston Villa. Photograph: Harry Murphy/AVFC/Aston Villa FC/Getty ImagesThe Villa No 8 came closest to doubling the lead when, in first-half stoppage time, he curled a superb 25-yard shot that Bernd Leno tipped aside.
Fulham came out to play more in the second half which made the game feel like basketball. Ollie Watkins spurned two great chances, missing the ball entirely from Matty Cash’s low cross from the right wing within a minute of the restart and later allowing Leno to save when released by Rogers’ superbly swerved low pass.
Ryan Sessegnon’s drive into the bottom corner of the Villa goal was disallowed for his accidental handball and Harry Wilson had a couple of very presentable chances for Fulham. But Villa survived, Donyell Malen crashing a shot against the crossbar midway through the eight minutes of added time as Villa held on for the crucial victory.
Fulham have lost four of their last five away games and must now hope eighth place will earn them a place in the Europa League, for which they must battle it out with Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford. “The second-half reaction was very good for us,” Marco Silva, the Fulham manager, said. “There were two great chances for Harry Wilson to equalise and we showed great spirit. It is a sad moment for us but we have [a week] to prepare for Everton.”
Ryan Sessegnon scored his fourth goal of the season to secure the win
Ryan Sessegnon scored a dramatic late winner as Fulham came back from behind to beat relegated Southampton at St Mary's Stadium
Fulham were staring at a fourth defeat in five games before substitute Emile Smith Rowe and Sessegnon scored to clinch a crucial win which will boost their push for a place in Europe
After captain Jack Stephens had given the Saints an early lead
Smith Rowe equalised when his shot took a big deflection off Jan Bednarek and beat Aaron Ramsdale in the Saints goal with 18 minutes left
It was enough time for Marco Silva's side to find the winner as Sessegnon met a cross from another substitute Adama Traore with a header past Ramsdale in second-half stoppage time
The Cottagers climb to eighth, level on points with Brighton, who also left it late to beat West Ham on Saturday
who became the quickest team to be relegated in Premier League history with the 3-1 defeat at Tottenham on 6 April
were on course for a rare win after Stephens headed home from a Ryan Manning free-kick
It was the centre-back's first goal since December 2019 and only the fourth scored by Saints at home this year
Fulham's struggles in attack had given them hope with Smith Rowe's equaliser the visitors' first shot on target after they had failed to test Ramsdale from 16 previous attempts
Bottom side Southampton remain on 11 points - matching Derby County's record-low tally from 2007-08 with four games remaining

Fulham have slipped up in recent weeks as they battle Bournemouth
Brentford and Crystal Palace for eighth place and a possible berth in the Europa League or Conference League
Brentford and Manchester City to wrap up the season
the trip to the south coast carried the weight of a must-win fixture for Silva's side
if they were to reignite their fading ambitions
Halfway through the game at St Mary's it was looking like another day to forget for the Cottagers as they failed to find a way past a Southampton side who had let in 78 goals this season
Willian's curling effort flew inches wide of Ramsdale's goal minutes before Southampton took the lead
while the Brazilian also hit the woodwork 11 minutes after the restart
who had brought on Traore and Sasa Lukic at half-time
turned to his bench again in the 66th minute to introduce Smith Rowe
with the former Arsenal attacking midfielder drawing level after only six minutes on the pitch
It was substitutes Tom Cairney and Traore who also set up Sessegnon's late winner which will give Fulham a fillip before the final weeks of the season
as they look to qualify for European football for the first time since 2011-12
'It's a cruel game' - Simon Rusk
Southampton's miserable campaign continued with another painful defeat - their 27th of the season - despite showing some heart and resilience in Simon Rusk's third game of his second interim spell in charge
The hosts made a bright start as centre-back Stephens' glancing header beat Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno
and they also managed to keep the visitors quiet for large parts of the game
Rusk's side could have increased their advantage further - only for Kyle Walker-Peters to be denied by Leno and Kamaldeen Sulemana striking the post from a tight angle before Fulham's late revival
As has been the case many times this season
an inability to sustain their intensity for the full 90 minutes proved to be Southampton's undoing

Aston Villa kept themselves firmly in the race for UEFA Champions League qualification by edging out Fulham 1-0 on Saturday
Youri Tielemans’ powerful header from a corner early on proved decisive at Villa Park
where Fulham’s own European aspirations were dented
with as many as 10 teams potentially able to qualify for Europe next season
Fulham thought they had restored parity shortly after the break, but Ryan Sessegnon’s volleyed equaliser was disallowed for handball during the build-up
The Cottagers failed to build on that momentum, though, and were lucky not to lose by more as Donyell Malen rattled the crossbar deep in stoppage time
Villa remain seventh in the Premier League on goal difference, having moved to 60 points, level with Chelsea and Nottingham Forest
who play on Sunday and Monday respectively
Fulham stay eighth on 51 but could slip down the standings by the end of the weekend
The hosts’ set-piece threat was evident from the off, and after Ollie Watkins had glanced a header wide
John McGinn marked his 200th Premier League appearance with a fine assist, as he curled a corner on to the edge of the six-yard box in the 12th minute, finding the unmarked Tielemans, who put a thumping header beyond Bernd Leno
Tielemans had another sight of goal just before the break
He curled a brilliant shot towards the top-right corner from distance
A much-improved Fulham thought they had equalised in the 50th minute as Sessegnon volleyed across goal into the far corner
the referee pulled it back as the ball had bounced off the winger’s arm
Against the run of play, Morgan Rogers played Watkins in behind Fulham’s back line
but the forward’s low shot was too close to Leno
Harry Wilson and Joachim Andersen had half-chances for Fulham
Malen missed two big opportunities late on
and then clattered the woodwork with a powerful strike in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time
Last week was one to forget for Villa, whose five-match winning streak in the Premier League was ended by Manchester City before they were knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace
In a first half of few chances for both sides
Villa’s set-pieces proved their best route to goal
McGinn brilliantly picked out Tielemans for the only goal
Villa struggled to make inroads after that; getting into good positions in the final third but looking hesitant to take on a shot until Tielemans tried his luck from range
only to be denied by Leno’s excellent save
the hosts were content to play on the counter
looking to become Villa’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League
was missing his golden touch in front of goal
should have made sure of the points late on
When Rogers’ cross was drilled into the six-yard box
the Dutchman rushed it under pressure from Leno
He did better when holding off Andersen to take on his next chance in stoppage time
It is tight in the race for a Champions League spot, but Unai Emery’s team are still right in the mix ahead of a trip to AFC Bournemouth next week
Fulham left it late to beat Southampton last weekend
but after getting into the driving seat for eighth place
they are now looking over their shoulders once more
Like they did in that match, Fulham failed to find their rhythm early on, and despite getting into promising positions, they did not test Emiliano Martinez
Raul Jimenez broke away to try and meet Sasa Lukic’s free-kick but could not make contact before he bent a cross-shot wide of the far post in an effort that summed up Fulham’s luckless first half in front of goal
They looked a different side after the break
with their urgency and high press unsettling Villa’s back line
And they thought that play had been rewarded when Sessegnon wheeled away in celebration
Wilson should have done better with his chance to equalise shortly after. He got caught underneath Calvin Bassey’s dinked cross and could only guide his header into Martinez’s gloves, while Andersen saw an effort from a tight angle smothered by Matty Cash
Marco Silva’s team also had to finish the game with 10 men as substitute Harrison Reed was forced off with an injury late on after all their replacements had been used
Fulham welcome Everton to Craven Cottage next
though they will first be hoping the teams around them fail to claim points over the rest of this weekend

Fulham FC captain Tom Cairney has been stung with a fine of more than £7,500 for not paying just £2.92 in car tax to the DVLA
The Premier League midfielder
was prosecuted for not taxing his Audi when the annual fee came up for renewal last September
Cairney wrote: “I just completely forgot I didn’t pay it
so I take responsibility but the car is now fully insured
Court papers show tax on the Audi expired on September 19 last year
and the DVLA detected that the vehicle was unlicensed on October 26
The agency said less than £3 was owed in tax
for the period of just over a month when the vehicle was unlicensed

When a magistrate sitting in Derby received Cairney’s guilty plea and imposed a criminal conviction
she decided to fine Cairney £7,692 as punishment for the offence
the maximum penalty for keeping a vehicle without a valid licence is £1,000
who played for Hull and Blackburn Rovers before joining Fulham in 2015
has made more than 300 appearances for the west London club
He was first given the captain’s armband in the 2016/17 season
and has made two international appearances for Scotland
Cairney’s current contract at Fulham is due to expire this summer
Cairney’s conviction was dealt with last week in the Single Justice Procedure, a controversial fast-track court process where magistrates take decisions behind-closed-doors
In March last year, the Magistrates Association published its findings of a review of the Single Justice Procedure
calling for reforms along with a 12-point plan for change
Among the suggested reforms was a requirement for magistrates to explain their decisions when they have departed from the usual sentencing range
In February, it was revealed a City worker had been fined nearly £40,000 for forgetting to pay around £50 in tax on his Range Rover
Watford footballer Tom Dele-Bashiru was ordered to pay £5,767.50 for not licensing his car for more than a year
The club’s legal director submitted a guilty plea on his behalf
saying the footballer was “unaware that his vehicle tax had expired”
“The defendant has now learned the importance of taxing his vehicle
and has since been instructed on how to properly do so
“The defendant has been reassuring that this will not happen again and he sincerely apologises for any inconvenience that this may have caused.”
It is understood applications have now been made to the courts for all three cases - against Cairney
the court can re-open the case to rectify them as quickly as possible”
a HM Courts and Tribunal Service spokesperson said
Cairney had car troubles in 2020 when he was accused of parking his Lamborghini in a disabled parking space while stopping to pick up a coffee
former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic revealed he had accidentally smashed Cairney’s car windscreen with a wayward shot in training
Cairney himself took to social media to reveal the same thing had happened again
but Rodrigo Muniz was the culprit this time

We're working to clean Fulham's air and keep residential roads safer and quieter
Through our south Fulham Clean Air Neighbourhoods we're removing an estimated 1.35kg of deadly nitrogen oxide and 1.9 tonnes of carbon emissions from the air every day
This is because we've stopped out of borough traffic from cutting through the streets either side of Wandsworth Bridge Road
That's 15,000 fewer cars a day in the borough
keeping roads less congested for pedestrians and cyclists
we are improving the air we breathe and the health and wellbeing of everyone who lives in
