Crystal Palace
I think it was pretty even especially after taking the lead
I really liked how the players wanted to win this game
The players showed today they wanted to win this game but it was a draw
"We had many situations in the 60 or 70 minutes to come from the wing but our crosses were nt good enough
You always have to be aware of the transitions but we did well
We weren't as efficient as in other games
On not rotating: "Players want to play and stay in the best shape
The best players in the best team want to play
We had a great impact from the bench and this is great for the next weeks
On Wharton injury: "It doesn't look like it's really serious

Palace have been in the Premier League for over a decade now and have never finished higher than 10th
We have spells of playing well and picking up points but our inconsistency and too many draws always cost us over a season
but unfortunately the cycle of improving players and then having to sell them will see us move backwards next season

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espírito Santo
speaking to BBC MOTD: "Let's think about the game
It was good for us we achieved the goal so soon after the goal of Palace
"It's about finding ourselves again after the last three games
Selhurst Park is always a tough place to come
On Hudson-Odoi and Murillo injuries: "He has an injury
we don't know exactly when he will be available
"All the teams in this big fight will give it a go."

It's not easy against a team like Nottingham
I'm really pleased with the performance today
We wanted to use our sixes to spread the play and create an overload
We are always talking about our performance and it was really good again so everything OK
On Eze taking penalty: "Players are practising this almost every day and we spoke before the game about who takes the penalty
iIt's part of the game that you can miss a penalty
On record points: "We want to achieve this
I was talking to the players about the mindset and attitude
I've experienced it so many times; you had a big win and then in two weeks you play the final
it's not too easy to find the focus but I could see this desire to win the game

The draw keeps Forest sixth while Palace remain 12th
Nottingham Forest remained in the race for a Champions League place despite being held to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park
Eberechi Eze opened the scoring from the spot after the video assistant referee (VAR) intervened to show Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels taking out Tyrick Mitchell in the penalty area
But the hosts' lead lasted just four minutes as Murillo flicked on Neco Williams' powerful strike past Dean Henderson
The goals arrived after a lacklustre first half
in which each side lacked quality in front of goal
Mitchell delivered a superb cross to an unmarked Daniel Munoz
who could only sweep an awkward volley straight at Sels
while Anthony Elanga failed to complete a blistering counter-attack when he sent his strike at Henderson
Chris Wood felt he should have been awarded a first-half penalty when he was pulled back by Munoz as Forest delivered a free-kick into the box
but referee Andrew Madley waved away the appeals and VAR quickly backed up his decision
Ismaila Sarr was kept out by the onrushing Sels before Maxence Lacroix made a crucial block at the other end to stop Wood from scoring his 20th Premier League goal of the season
Eze puffed out his chest and soaked up the admiration of the Palace crowd after slamming his penalty into the left corner
but Murillo's quick-thinking flicked finish dulled the atmosphere at Selhurst Park
Substitute Eddie Nketiah thought he had won the game at the death for Palace when he prodded a wide shot from Eze into the back of the net
but their celebrations were cut short by the offside flag
two points behind Newcastle and Chelsea - in fourth and fifth - with three games remaining
Palace remain 12th and are three points away from equalling their best Premier League points tally of 49
Have your say on Crystal Palace’s performance
What did you make of Nottingham Forest’s display
'Everybody is fighting for something' - Nuno
After a difficult week in which they missed out on reaching the FA Cup final and their top-five hopes were dented by a loss to Brentford
Forest were in desperate need of three points to boost their bid for Champions League football next season
With both teams lacking a clinical edge in the first half
the visitors were set back by Sels' rashness in rushing off his line and clattering into Mitchell for Palace's penalty
but Palace were the better team after the equaliser and unfortunate not to find a winner as Eze rattled the woodwork in the 88th minute
Forest are far from out of the Champions League race given they face Enzo Maresca's Blues on the last day of the season
More worrying for Nuno Espirito Santo will be the manner in which Murillo limped off with an apparent hamstring injury
The Brazilian has been crucial to Forest's success this season alongside his Serbian centre-back partner Nikola Milenkovic
who will also need to be assessed after taking a knock to the head in second-half stoppage time
'Commitment and desire to win was excellent' - Glasner
Palace manager Oliver Glasner named the same side which emphatically beat Aston Villa 3-0 in their FA Cup semi-final at Wembley
Still riding the wave of that joyous occasion
Palace enjoyed a lively start before being pinned back by the visitors
After missing a spot-kick at Newcastle last month
Eze banished those penalty demons with a ruthless strike that was sure to impress England boss Thomas Tuchel in the stands
The same could not be said of Eze's team-mates
Nketiah and Lacroix sent clear-cut chances over the bar late on
while Nketiah could easily have stepped into an onside position for his disallowed goal
Palace's bid to qualify for Europe via the league appears all but over and their best hope of securing a Europa League place is by doing something they never have - winning the FA Cup when they face Manchester City in the final on 17 May

Nottingham Forest have won nine away Premier League matches this season and have only won 10 top-flight away matches in a season on three occasions – in 1977-78 (finished 1st)
Crystal Palace conceded 14 Premier League goals in April
It was their joint most in a single month in Premier League history
Nottingham Forest have won two of their last three away Premier League games in London (L1)
as many as they did across their previous 23 trips to the capital combined (W2 D5 L16)
Forest are looking to win three away games in London in a season for the second time in the Premier League
Across their last 24 Premier League matches played on a Monday
Crystal Palace have picked up just three wins (D9 L12)
though one of those was in their last home Monday game in May 2024 when they hammered Man Utd 4-0
Chris Wood has scored 17 goals in his last 24 Premier League appearances on the road for Nottingham Forest and has nine away goals this season
with no Forest player ever scoring 10 away goals in a season
He could be the sixth player to score 10+ home goals and 10+ away goals in a Premier League season over the age of 30
with Mohamed Salah also achieving that in 2024-25
Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta has scored 10 goals in his last 13 Premier League appearances
It’s the second consecutive season he’s scored 10+ goals from January until the end of the season
scoring 14 in 18 games in 2023-24 in that timeframe
with Andrew Johnson the only Eagles player to achieve this beforehand (11 in 2004-05)
Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze has been involved in 13 goals in his last 18 starts in all competitions (6 goals
7 assists) and another goal would see him become the first Palace since they returned to the Premier League in 2013 to have both 10+ goals and 10+ assists in all competitions in a season

Murillo cancelled out Eberechi Eze’s penalty but Forest dropped points in their hunt for the Champions League
6h ago23.11 CESTThis is the xG of the game, evidence of how poor Forest were tonight.
6h ago23.08 CESTThat is what the 1-1 result does to the Premier League table. Newcastle and Chelsea now have a two-point cushion over Forest, who remain in sixth.
Murillo’s injury will be a worry. The Brazilian went off with a hamstring injury. I wonder if that is the defender’s season done.
6h ago23.02 CESTFull-time: Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham ForestDisappointment for Forest in their race for the top five.
6h ago23.01 CEST90+12 min: The air has gone out of the game, which is a real shame for the neutral. Forest will be thankful, though.
6h ago22.59 CEST90+10 min: Milenkovic is back on, with some cotton wool shoved up his nostrils. I think those stoppages have helped Forest as Palace’s momentum has completely stalled.
“So infuriating when the ref’s comms goes down and we have to do that endless sleeve rolling, tucking something in, roll up, roll down,” emails Hugh Molloy. “I can I understood it halfway through a game, but if it goes with 80 mins plus on the clock, then just crack on. If we desperately need VAR then fix it then, otherwise just ruins the crescendo of a game. Rant over.”
Updated at 23.00 CEST6h ago22.57 CEST90+8 min: Another delay as Milenkovic gets some treatment for a bloody face. The Forest defender clashed with his own goalkeeper at that corner. I think we’re going to have more than the eight minutes given for stoppage time.
6h ago22.56 CEST90+6 min: Palace are the only team looking to win this football match. Munoz sends in a searching low cross across Forest’s six-yard box, palmed clear by Sels, and from the resulting corner, Hughes tries a lob over the Forest goalkeeper … just over!
6h ago22.54 CEST90+4 min: There’s a brief delay as the linesman’s audio headset is given some sort of fix. Not sure what the problem was there.
6h ago22.53 CESTPALACE GOAL DISALLOWED!90+2 min: Palace are again so close to a winner
Eze again wriggles into some space and gets a shot off through a crowd of bodies
Nketiah sticks out a boot and diverts a finish into the net
but replays show the former Arsenal striker was a yard off
6h ago22.49 CESTEZE HITS THE BAR FOR PALACE!88 min: Palace inches from that winner
as Eze cuts inside from the left and curls a beautiful shot over Sels towards the top corner
but the ball doesn’t quite dip under the bar
kissing the upright before going behind for a Forest goal kick
6h ago22.46 CEST84 min: Big chance for Palace and Lacroix! A cross is deflected to the big Frenchman at the far post, but Lacroix can’t adjust his feet in time and misdirects a header over the bar. It looked easier to score, despite the close attention of Williams.
6h ago22.45 CEST83 min: More bookings! Forest pair Aina and Yates are cautioned for two tackles in the same move.
6h ago22.43 CEST81 min: Palace stream forward against the depleted visitors. Nketiah breaks the offside trap and goes clean through, but shoots wildly from an acute angle when he might have been better off squaring the ball to a teammate.
Morata is finally allowed on as Forest return to 11 men. That would have been a real controversy if Nketiah had scored with the visitors down to 10.
6h ago22.40 CEST80 min: Bad news for Forest, Murillo has pulled his hamstring. The Brazilian is going to have to go off and leaves the field of play. His compatriot Morata is being readied but Eze takes a free-kick and the referee allows play to continue. Forest are briefly down to 10 men!
6h ago22.38 CEST78 min: Having failed to send Sangaré off, referee Andrew Madley sets about trying to book as many other players as he can. Both Palace’s Kamada and Forest’s Gibbs-White are cautioned for tackles.
6h ago22.36 CEST76 min: Forest manager Nuno knows Sangare is walking a tightrope now, so brings off his midfielder. Yates is on.
Palace also make a change: Nketiah for Mateta.
Updated at 22.41 CEST6h ago22.36 CEST75 min: Eze nutmegs Sangaré in midfield and is bodychecked by the Ivorian, who is already on a yellow card. The referee opts not to dish out a second booking, much to the groans of the home fans. That was right on the edge, I think it was probably the right decision, but only just.
6h ago22.33 CEST74 min: Not the first time today, Sarr strides away on a Palace counter attack, only to be felled by the nearest Forest player. Williams goes into the book.
6h ago22.32 CEST72 min: This game could go either way. Neither team is dominant.
Guéhi looks like he’s struggling with a knock. The Palace captain was limping a few moment ago.
7h ago22.29 CEST70 min: Re my question over Sangare, a few of you have kindly been in touch to explain.
“Sangare was out injured for the first part of the season and then looked short of match fitness on his return in early February (I think),” emails Martin Widdicks. “He played in a few of the FA Cup games but it looked like Nuno didn’t trust his fitness and he was below Yates and Dominguez for the defensive midfielder spot. Fans seem to have mixed feelings towards him, some think he’s wonderful and should start, others think he flatters to deceive.”
“Record buy at £30 million at the beginning of last season but he’s been injured, at Afcon, sick, and injured at various stages throughout the past two seasons,” adds Simon Frank. “Seems he’s now fifth choice for centre midfield but a lot of us Forest fans still think there’s time for him to establish himself.”
7h ago22.27 CEST68 min: Yellow card for Sangare, who clumsily catches Eze in midfield. That has been coming.
7h ago22.27 CEST67 min: Nicolas Dominguez comes off for Ramon Sosa, in a change that looks like was planned before the Forest goal.
7h ago22.26 CESTGOAL
Crystal Palace 1-1 Nottingham Forest (Murillo 65)Forest hit straight back
the ball comes out to Williams on the edge
but Murillo deflects it beautifully with the outside of his foot
7h ago22.22 CEST62 min: That could be a crucial goal in Forest’s race for the Champions League. Those from City, Newcastle, Chelsea and Villa will have watched that Eze penalty with glee.
Worryingly for Palace, Wharton has had to be withdrawn. I think he took a knock in the build-up to that penalty. Will Hughes is on, a straight swap in the middle.
7h ago22.20 CESTGOAL
Crystal Palace 1-0 Nottingham Forest (Eze pen 60)It’s a stuttering unorthodox run up from Eze but the Palace playmaker sweeps his spot kick to Sels’ right into the corner
The Forest keeper guessed right but couldn’t get there
The Palace left-back beats both Dominguez and Sels to the ball and is bundled and tripped by both
referee Andrew Madley doesn’t give the blatant penalty on the pitch
but VAR intervenes and the spot kick is given
7h ago22.14 CEST51 min: I could listen to Don Goodman, Sky Sports’ bizarre choice as co-commentator this evening say “the left calf of Lacroix” all night.
7h ago22.11 CEST49 min: Right on cue, Palace spring into life. The ball breaks to Sarr on the edge of Forest’s box and the Senegalese wriggles away from his markers, only for Sels to make a brilliant save, spreading himself Schmeichel-style! How many times has the Belgian done that this season?
Updated at 22.17 CEST7h ago22.08 CEST47 min: In what could be a very meme-able video clip, Glasner looks very perplexed at his side’s start to the second half. The Austrian is waving his arms around manically, his face a picture of curiosity and concern. Palace have not played well.
7h ago22.04 CESTPeeeeeeeep!Eze has just taken the Palace kick-off so I can confirm he is still on the pitch.

A man who joined in on an unprovoked attack that left a victim with a metal plate in his jaw has been jailed
and his friends assaulted the man in the early hours of 22 August 2021
As a fight broke out between Wilson and his friends and another group of men
the victim – a bystander to the incident – filmed the altercation on his mobile phone
Wilson and the group were caught on CCTV in the Lace Market turning their attention to the victim after they saw him recording them
forcing him to the floor as they kicked and stamped on his head and body
The victim was left with a fractured jaw in two places which required him to undergo surgery where a metal plate was fitted
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on 25 April
was jailed for a total of 27 months after pleading guilty to affray and being found guilty of occasioning grievous bodily harm without intent
Other suspects involved in the attack previously faced the courts in April 2024 and were sentenced
“Otis Wilson and the group launched a vicious and unprovoked attack on a man who was simply enjoying the night with his friends
“This kind of violence is unacceptable and I hope this sentence sends out a very clear message to others who think they can behave in a similar way that we will do everything to ensure they face the courts.”

A teenage knife carrier who brandished a machete during a street altercation has been jailed
Dante Shakespeare, aged 18, was among a small group who became involved in an argument with a van driver in Bulwell
The driver pursued the group in the van before Shakespeare was seen on CCTV footage in Muriel Street producing a machete and running after the vehicle
An officer was able to identify Shakespeare following a trawl of CCTV in the area
pleaded guilty to affray and possession of a knife in a public place
He was jailed for 10 months when he appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Thursday (1 May 2025)
“Shakespeare’s decision to arm himself with a machete and brandish it in the street was extremely reckless
“Much of this incident took place on a residential street and it must have been alarming for any witnesses to see
no one was hurt and an officer was quickly able to identify Shakespeare
“The case shows the value of Nottingham’s extensive CCTV system and how it covers areas outside of the city centre
“If you produce a knife in public you are highly likely to be caught on camera and end up before the courts
“While Shakespeare may not have intended to get into a violent confrontation that day
his decision to carry a knife greatly increased the gravity of what happened and could easily have resulted in either him or others coming to harm
“We’d still like to speak to the other people involved in this incident so anyone with information should call us without delay.”

Ambitions differ in the Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest camps as the season reaches its final weeks but both clubs have punched above their weight this campaign and can entertain in Monday's clash at Selhurst Park
Set for another season in mid-table safety in the Premier League
Palace have saved some of their best performances for the FA Cup this term and are likely to be distracted by the prospect of delivering the club's first major trophy in the final this month
Nottingham Forest crashed out of the FA Cup last month and their full focus is on making the Premier League top five
which would secure a place in next season's Champions League
Merely making the top seven would be a remarkable achievement for Forest given they finished 17th last season but missing out on the Champions League would be a bitter pill to swallow given they were in the top three at the start of April
Three defeats in four league games have followed
and their form coupled with the fact that Palace's focus could be elsewhere means it is hard to settle on a result in Monday's contest
backing both teams to score and over 2.5 goals looks a value wager
Palace were scintillating against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-finals last Saturday
excelling on the counter-attack to win 3-0 thanks to a brace from Ismaila Sarr and a first-half goal from Eberechi Eze
They have attacking players who can hurt any side but their defence is also susceptible to imploding
as was the case in 5-2 and 5-0 thrashings by Manchester City and Newcastle in April
Those losses could be attributed to the distraction of the FA Cup and the previous defensive solidity they demonstrated
seems to have gone out of the window in the league
Their 34 league fixtures have averaged just 2.65 goals per game this term but that average leaps up to 3.38 in their last eight matches
Forest have kept an impressive 13 clean sheets in the Premier League this season - only Liverpool have had more - but they have managed just four shutouts in their last 11 league assignments
A good supplementary bet is Daniel Munoz to be carded
Forest focus 44 per cent of their attacks down the left flank and Palace's right wing-back Munoz could have his work cut out
He is averaging 1.4 fouls per game in the Premier League and only Will Hughes has picked up more league yellow cards than Munoz's tally of nine in this Palace team
Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals has occurred in three of Crystal Palace's last five Premier League matches
Crystal PalaceCheick Doucoure and Chadi Riad are out with knee injuries
while back-up goalkeeper Matt Turner cannot face his parent club

Medical secretary Kim - who revealed Olivia was the first 2025 baby born in Nottingham when she arrived at 12.35am on January 1 - said: "We'll thank her when she’s older."
Dave added: "I'm still not happy about the lack of sleep

"We're going to put the house on the market anyway
We had a valuer and a photographer round before you guys came."

four neighbours in a row all whooped with joy as they each bagged £404,048
Anne-Marie Maund and hubby-to-be Mark Bonnar went into meltdown when her winnings were revealed - as their lucky pet rabbit Ronnie ran round the garden
Now the pair are planning to pimp up their August wedding - and extend their semi
Teaching assistant Ann-Marie said: "The adrenalin is going
I've been playing for nearly three years after my stepson started playing it
I reckoned I had to be a part of it to win it
"All I wanted was enough to get a dining room table
I would have been happy with £1,000; even with just the golden envelope!"
but we could upgrade it with a few tweaks."
I've always wanted to sit inside round a table
We've got a big family and in the summer it's great because we can sit outside on the patio
The extension would be for the dining table."
Mark chipped in: "We might just go for the whole lot - a side wraparound."
The Nottingham Forest fan couple - who share four sons and a daughter - are due to tie the knot on August 25 after more than 15 years together before jetting to Tenerife on honeymoon the next day
Mark laughed: "We can have two honeymoons with this."
And the utilities worker told of his delight at winning with his close neighbours
He said: "We get on with all the neighbours
It's a tight-knit community and we all get on."
Anne-Marie added: "For them to have it and not just us is brilliant

"I might buy a mobile home and make it a family thing."
Trevor said it was special to win with neighbours
He said: "We've always had good neighbours all the time we've been here
We've always had street celebrations like on VE Day
We'll be having another celebration tonight with neighbours and family."
Chris Peet stayed cool despite the magnitude of his win
The telecommunications engineer planned to toast his win with friends on the street before looking ahead to holiday plans with his partner of 23 years
He said: "I think I'm probably going out to celebrate tonight
He added: "I'm already booked to go to Turkey
great grandmother June Foster got an early birthday present of £404,048
Now she wants to buy a new rake for her garden
the sprightly mum-of-five said: "I feel that I'm in a dream that I'm going to wake up from
Then she turned to daughter Jayne Bent and said: "Oh Jayne
A thousand would be a lot of money to me and would mean a lot to me
What do I need with all that money now at my age?"
She added: "The only thing we thought about buying was a rescue dog for company."
Daughter Jayne said: "She said she would get a nice garden rake
Mum loves gardening and has a beautiful back garden
She's had such a hard life and has been very poorly
grand dame of the street congratulated all the other winners
June said: "I'm so pleased for everybody else who has won
and it is amazing to hear how much money is going to charity
It's wonderful to hear that you are actually helping somebody else."
A few doors along Garry Fearon thought he’d faint after pulling out his bumper cheque
The retired truck driver said: "I thought I was going to pass out
The dad-of-one even made plans with his family based on that amount
He said: "We're all going for a meal tomorrow
I've booked a family meal tomorrow because I thought we was only getting £1,000
so they’re going to have a nice big surprise tomorrow
Now the bigger prize means Garry wants to further treat his family
He said: "My son's going to get a share of this and my wife's son and daughter."
Garry plans to travel around Britain with wife Lesley
He said: "I'm going to take my mobile home out and we’re going to disappear
We'll just point it in the direction and drive
"It's like the Rolls Royce of mobile homes as far as I'm concerned
The grandmother-of-three declared: "We're all going on holiday
Supported by her two daughters Emma and Georgia who lives at home
she said: "I want to take the children to Disney World in Florida."
She added: "I want to buy a caravan at the seaside
somewhere we can always go with the kids and maybe a holiday home abroad now - that would be on my bucket list
To have somewhere to go all the time for holidays
instead of keep forking it out so I've got a place to go to."

"To hear that I've raised money for Maggie’s
To know that there are all those connections."
Helen will be delighted to know that local good causes close to the winners have benefitted from money raised by players

there’s a fresh rumour which isn’t great news for Nuno Espirito Santo
Callum Hudson-Odoi has proved to be a bargain since completing a £5m switch from Chelsea in 2023
The 24-year-old has really come into his own this season
registering eight goal involvements in 29 league appearances
That’s alerted Roma and Napoli to make checks on Hudson-Odoi
who only has one year remaining on his contract
And now, according to Tuttomercatoweb

The importance of qualifying for the Champions League is growing in importance with each passing week
Football writer Adrian Clarke looks at key tactical points and players who can be decisive in Matchweek 35
Nottingham Forest’s quest for a top-five finish may well depend on how they handle in-form Wharton in the final fixture of Matchweek 35 on Monday
The Palace star has been outstanding in recent weeks
consistently dominating the midfield with his quality
Oliver Glasner's side are a dangerous proposition when Wharton runs matches from the heart of midfield, just as he did against Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final
Wharton’s one and two touch football makes a hugely positive difference for Palace
Using his composure on the ball and natural awareness to great effect
the 21-year-old gets a lot of early passes into the feet of the Eagles' menacing front three
Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta all benefit from Wharton's positive distribution
The eye test tells you he is good at moving the ball vertically
but the stats also confirm this key strength
Ahead of this round of matches, Wharton averaged the joint-highest number of progressive passes per 90 minutes, alongside the 4.8 of Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes
To put that number into perspective, fellow Palace midfielders Will Hughes and Daichi Kamada managed 3.1 and 2.8 per 90 respectively
It is crucial for the Eagles to get quality possession into players such as Eze and Sarr if they are to maximise the potential of Glasner’s 3-4-2-1 formation
When Wharton plays they are far better in this regard
because he has the ability and confidence to thread clever passes between opposition midfielders
no Premier League midfielder completes more successful passes between the lines numbers-wise than Wharton
Palace forward Mateta is excellent at pinning centre-backs with his physicality, so Nuno Espirito Santo’s central midfield unit must work hard to ensure the gap between themselves and the Nottingham Forest back four is small
If they get tight and are bypassed by one touch passes from Wharton
Wharton could hurt them when given time and space
He is never afraid to clip a longer pass in behind
and has made significantly more successful passes into the final third than any of his team-mates
As shown below, Wharton's wonderful outside-of-the-foot pass with his gilded left boot, put Eddie Nketiah in the clear at home to Ipswich Town
It is the kind of quality that marks him down as a special talent
Wharton’s impact for Palace is not just restricted to clever distribution
he creates plenty of chances and controls the rhythm of matches
but the midfielder also frequently breaks up play
Wharton has grown in stature physically this season
and is now a central midfielder who can out-muscle rivals too
He was magnificent in this aspect of the game in Palace’s FA Cup semi-final success against Villa, overpowering Unai Emery’s side with a string of forceful challenges
Wharton's duel with Youri Tielemans helped turned the ball over inside the opposition half for Ismaila Sarr to race through and score Palace's second goal
The image below shows how Wharton anticipates a square pass into Tielemans
Wharton made up ground in a flash and by the time the ball reached Tielemans
The ball ran kindly for Mateta from this tackle and he freed up Sarr to run on and score
Wharton has been a consistent ball-winner over the course of the 2024/25 campaign
No one at Palace has regained possession more often than Wharton
whether it is coming out on top in duels like this or picking up loose balls in the centre of the pitch
A trip to Palace will be far from easy for Nottingham Forest
who have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions
Nuno's side have looked physically and mentally jaded of late
which is not ideal ahead of a match against a side who apply more pressures inside the middle third than any other Premier League team
FA Cup finalists Palace will also be fired up to keep spirits high in their first home match since reaching the Wembley showpiece
Wharton is enjoying his best form of 2024/25 and has the potential to be Palace's most dominant individual on Monday evening.

With just a few matches remaining of the Premier League season for each side, only four points separate third and seventh in the race for Champions League qualification
Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Aston Villa will battle to secure the final two spots in Europe’s premier cup competition
with Arsenal and Liverpool having all but secured their places
And with Reds having sealed their 20th top-flight title at a canter and all the three relegation spots already confirmed
the race for the top five is all that’s left to provide drama before the final weekend
But with several of the sides in third to seventh still set to play each other as well as the champions-elect and relegated sides
which teams are best placed to finish in the top five come the end of May
Pep Guardiola’s side find themselves in unfamiliar territory with four games left to go, but the Spaniard has already emphasised the potential importance of qualifying for Europe’s top-tier competition
they have arguably the kindest set of fixtures out of the five sides
which came thanks to Matheus Nunes’ 94th minute winner
was followed by a win over Wolves with struggling Southampton to come next
City need to navigate matches against Bournemouth and Fulham
with the difficulty of those likely to depend on whether each side is still hunting their own place in European competition
Eddie Howe’s side were flying high after their Carabao Cup triumph and dominant wins over Manchester United and Palace
but they were quickly brought down to Earth with that 4-1 drubbing against Aston Villa
but the Magpies will have to navigate a fairly difficult set of fixtures if they are to return to the Champions League for the second time in three seasons
as they face Arsenal and Chelsea on consecutive weekends before finishing the season at home to Everton
It remains to be seen if Alexander Isak’s late penalty in the 1-1 draw at Brighton was a point gained or two dropped
Though Chelsea are still well-positioned to make the top five, some of their fans will be wondering how it’s this close after being second in December. However, they were the big winners of Forest’s home defeat against Brentford on Thursday night, as their hopes are in their hands.
A poor run of form has led to some discontent at the Bridge, but the dramatic comeback win over Fulham and victories over Everton and newly crowned champions Liverpool has restored some belief ahead of arguably the toughest run of fixtures out of the these five clubs.
There is certainly no ‘easy’ game remaining for the Blues, with difficult away trips to fellow top-five chasers Newcastle and Forest as well as a home fixture against Manchester United. It’s going to come down to those last three fixtures for Enzo Maresca and his young side.
Chelsea’s remaining fixtures are as follows:
Are the wheels coming off Forest’s incredible season after a fourth defeat in five games? Brentford added to their recent slump with a 2-0 win at the City Ground on Thursday night, which came after the dispiriting FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester City.
However, their fixture list is looking the kindest of the contenders, as they face two of the most out-of-form sides in the league in Leicester and West Ham, as well as a Palace side who may well be looking ahead to an FA Cup final against Manchester City later this month.
“We have to find in ourselves. But I don’t see (pressure), I see belief, desire and commitment,” Nuno Espirito Santo said. “But the reality is we are struggling in some aspects of our game – focus and determination to be practical and solve the situations that are simple to solve.”
Forest’s remaining fixtures are as follows:
Villa’s brilliant recent form was hit by back-to-back defeats, to Manchester City late on at the Etihad and to Crystal Palace in the FA Cup semi-finals, but Unai Emery’s side got back on track with a 1-0 win over Fulham.
Bournemouth, chasing a European place themselves, are up next. Villa will be hopeful of victory in their last two matches against Spurs and United - who have all but written off their Premier League campaigns as they look to prepare for a Europa League final.
Villa’s remaining fixtures are as follows:

Crystal Palace host Nottingham Forest for this week’s edition of Monday Night Football in the Premier League
Wins for Chelsea and Aston Villa this weekend mean this fixture has become all the more important for Forest in their quest for a Champions League spot this season
with the bookies favouring Palace in this fixture
We have you covered for Monday with our Monday Accumulator Tips to go alongside this piece
Our Premier League predictions page is full of expert Premier League tips for you this week’s action. Our Free Bets page is full of offers to help you maximise your punting potential for the Premier League and more
The Monday Night Football takes us to Selhurst Park for the clash between Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest with the visitors needing a win to keep themselves relevant in the Champions League hunt
they will be expected to get that against a side with little to play for in the Premier League from here on in
they have just faced a team with little motivation when they took on Brentford on Thursday night
Palace are playing for little in the Premier League but they will be keen to maintain their form going into the FA Cup final in a couple of weeks
The home side have won three and drawn the other in their last four home matches and for all that Forest have had an excellent campaign
they have lost four of their last six away from the City Ground
Forest are beginning to look a tired side and with home advantage Palace or the draw looks a safe starter to the bet builder
These two teams are pretty defensively proficient
That sounds strange when Crystal Palace have twice conceded five goals recently but that was on their travels at Newcastle and Manchester City
On their tighter home patch Palace are much tighter at the back but at the other end
for all they have a vibrancy to their attack
it is hard to see them breaking down a pretty tough Forest defence at will
They will look to keep things tight and try to pounce on the counter but the goals have dried up in recent times
The Reds have only notched four times in their last seven matches
a run which has come at a bad time but isn’t likely to change here barring something unforeseen
The last five meetings between these two in the Premier League since Forest returned to the top flight finished 0-0
1-0 or 1-1 and have all been tight matches
There is a case for under 2.5 goals off the back of that but for a little bit of extra insurance we will go with under 3.5 for the second leg of the bet builder
Generally the majority of the good stuff that Crystal Palace deliver comes through Eberechi Eze and the prospect of him having a shot on target is a solid one
Eze is in fine fettle at the minute having opened the scoring at Wembley last weekend and gets into the sorts of positions that the Forest defence have been struggling with recently
We saw at Wembley last weekend that Manchester City players had a lot of time in and around the Forest box and that was a trend that continued on Thursday evening when Brentford forward players were afforded the same luxury
Eze averages one shot on target per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season so we are only looking for an average match from him for this leg of the bet builder to land
He also averages 3.6 shots per 90 so he is going to have enough attempts to land a shot on target
In the reverse meeting between the two sides
and another effort on goal is expected here
We will head to the card market for the final leg of the bet builder where Daniel Munoz to be shown a card appeals
He has been brandished a card on nine occasions this season so he is certainly no stranger to the referees and it would be no surprise if he adds to the yellow card he received at the City Ground earlier in the season
The Colombian is an aggressive wing-back but he’ll be up against a couple of tricky customers in the likes of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga while Neco Williams gets up and down that wing too and all three are combative and tricky to defend against
Munoz has been booked in two of his last three Premier League matches and against a side with plenty of pace and trickery
another card is perfectly possible and can complete a decent priced bet builder
👉 10 of the last 11 Nottingham Forest matches in all competitions have had under 3.5 goals in them
👉 Five of the last six Crystal Palace matches have gone over 2.5 goals
👉 Five of the last six Palace matches have contained more than 3.5 cards
👉 Forest have lost the corners match in nine of their last 11 matches
👉 Forest have conceded over 4.5 corners in five of their last six outings

Palmeiras are ‘still interested’ in Nottingham Forest’s Ramón Sosa

Nottingham Forest will be looking to rekindle their Champions League dream when they travel to FA Cup finalists Crystal Palace on Monday night
the relegation battle was almost non-existent
but the race for European football is making sure that the Premier League is not limping towards the finish line
Five teams are battling for a top five finish and Forest are well and truly among that group and a win here could put them well on their way to Wednesday nights in Barcelona rather than Thursday nights in Bucharest
Nuno Espirito Santo’s troops have had a disappointing week
getting knocked out of the FA Cup and losing at home to Brentford
but they have a quick chance to right those wrongs at Palace
They may have lost three of their last four league games
but they are among the league’s away day specialists and have collected almost half of their points tally on the road
Palace are on their way to Wembley for a date under the arch with Man City after breezing through Aston Villa like a hurricane last weekend
Oliver Glasner’s side are heading for what has become a regular mid-table finish and will be focussing on the cup final which is a week on Saturday and with nothing to play for in the league
you’d expect the Austrian to preserve some of their stars for that clash
It will be intriguing to see how Palace line up against Forest and we have predictions
team news and all the details on where to watch below
Nottingham Forest are well and truly a bogey team for Palace
with the London side winless in their last eight against the European contenders
Forest are still in with a chance and they have had a large chunk of success on the road this season
The way Forest play sets them up to pick up points on the road and we can see them getting a win here
Anthony Elanga has been one of the more underrated stars of Forest’s season
Matz Sels and Morgan Gibbs-White getting the limelight
The Swede is key to Forest’s successful counter-attacking formula and has 15 Premier League goal involvements this season (6 G
We think that the winger could extend that number at Forest on Monday night

Palace may rotate given that they have secured another season in the Premier League
Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure are both ruled out through injury for the Eagles
while Matt Turner is ineligible to play his parent club
while expect captain Marc Guehi to keep his place and Jean-Phillippe Mateta to lead the line
with Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eric da Silva Moreira the only two members of his squad nursing knocks
Expect Nicolas Dominguez to play in a more advanced role due to the absence of Hudson-Odoi and Ibrahim Sangare will come into the side
The excellent defensive partnership of Murillo and Nikola Milenkovic will continue in front of golden glove leader Matz Sels
The game will be televised live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League

Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Match of the Day: "I think it was a big improvement
I think we reacted well from the previous game
There was a clear intention to bounce back and the boys did well
"We have a clear way to play and when we found ourselves in our identity
We control really well the game in the first half
but also Tottenham created chances in the second half and we had to hold on to what we had
"I think we've been able this season to compete well and fight for every ball
We want to recover the players and we can enjoy this."
"If you look back at the first half Tottenham created a lot of problems for us in wide areas
We had Matz [Sels] at a high level keep us in the game
You have to remember we are playing quality players."
On Harry Toffolo's brilliant clearance: "You have to do everything you can to stop the ball going into the net."
On facing Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals next: "It's a moment to enjoy
It's a rare opportunity that we have in our life to go to Wembley to compete against a big team for a trophy that we have chased for years."

Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski speaking to Sky Sports: "Yes sloppy start

"[Slow start] can depend on a lot of things
but you have got to be ready from the start
You come back from a long trip at five in the morning but if you are not on it then you will pay
"We played some decent football today and created some good chances
They are a very difficult team to play because they are very good at defending and play a lot of men behind the ball
I'm back for the most important part of the season which is important
I am very angry that we lost but I've got to think about the process and stay focused
"When you are in this part of the season and have a lot of injuries you have to take care of that

That is one thing but we want to maintain momentum but we missed that opportunity
We have to have all of our players healthy and in good condition."
On facing Liverpool this weekend: "Another good test
Look if we play like we did today but keep our concentration levels where they should be then we can give them a game
We still need to rectify a couple of things."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to Sky Sports: "It's disappointing
I'm really disappointed with the goals we conceded
The most frustrating thing outside of that is our football was outstanding
We couldn't have dominated any more than we did
We have just conceded poor goals and given ourselves a mountain to climb
It is not about mistakes being repeated but not having that concentration and focus for the whole game
"We had a focus on Thursday night that we didn't seem to have at the beginning of the game and then after we conceded we knuckled down and started playing our football
There's too many games this year that we have lost in that manner and that is why we are in the position that we are."

Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo speaking to Sky Sports: "There is no other way
Tottenham put us against the ropes so it is about defending and holding on to the result
We wanted to go more offensive in the second half
try to be more dangerous and have more of the ball
"When you have something it is about getting through it
especially in these moments of the season when there is fatigue
all these things made the team go back a bit
They created so many chances against us and we were fortunate to get away with the result
"We were controlling the game but Tottenham were having lots of crosses and space in the wide areas
so it [half time change] was about having an extra man and squeezing a bit more
You have one less man to press in midfield but you then have one more in the box
"Matz has been huge for us all season
He kept us in the game so we are delighted
We have to prepare well then go to Wembley and enjoy
especially in this league when we are fighting for something nobody expected."

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou to BBC Match of the Day: "It's disappointing
A loss that for large parts was self-inflicted
We conceded two poor goals and gave ourselves a a mountain to climb
I still think we didn't deserve to lose on the balance of play
But like I said it was really disappointing to concede the two goals like we did
It's a game we should have won tonight and it's another one this year
"From our perspective there was some good game time for the guys that needed it
We were able to rest a few that will help us
it's not the only time it's happened this year
We have to accept the fact we haven't been at the level we should be
We've got to keep working and try and rectify these things so the football we play gets the results it deserves."

There's five games to go and we know what we need to do
"We will see where we can end up but we already played an amazing season
We can be proud of what we did up until now but we want to give everything to finish there in the top five."
"I did well in the last years in France but maybe the people here in England do not follow that league
The last deadline day was not easy to stay here with Forest but the Gaffer had a plan and he created something really good

We started the season well and the victory at Liverpool gave us a lot of confidence and the belief came bit by bit."

Chris Wood scored his first goal since mid-February for Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest boosted their Champions League hopes as an impressive victory against Tottenham moved them back up to third in the Premier League
The visitors started the day sixth but were in a determined mood from the outset at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to get the result that would see them climb back up the table
They took just five minutes to open the scoring when Elliot Anderson's thunderous volley deflected off Rodrigo Bentancur to fly into the back of the net
Spurs' poor league form this term has been well documented and despite winning at Eintracht Frankfurt last Thursday to reach the Europa League semi-finals
they failed to carry that momentum into this game
They saw plenty of the ball and got into good positions but were not threatening enough and instead Forest added a second in the 16th minute when Chris Wood nodded in from Anthony Elanga's delivery
Wood has been instrumental to Forest's impressive form this season with this strike his 19th in the Premier League this season
Mathys Tel lashed wide when unmarked towards the end of the first half
while Richarlison - making his first Tottenham start since February - headed over from close range
Harry Toffolo made a crucial goalline clearance to hook away Dejan Kulusevski's effort midway through the second half
before Matz Sels produced an excellent save to deny Richarlison late on
Spurs came alive in the final minutes and got a goal back with three minutes remaining when Richarlison finally beat Sels with a header
But Forest held their nerve to seal a victory and edge closer towards securing European football next season
How Forest are breaking the possession obsession
Forest had clear intention to bounce back - Nuno Espirito Santo
Finishing in the top five will currently be enough to secure a place in the Champions League
but weekend results had seen Forest - the surprise package of the season - drop out of those positions
A trip to Tottenham with the pressure on them to get a result was a test of their credentials - a test they passed with flying colours
As they have been in many games this season they were a distant second in the possession stats
but were once again effective with their fast and direct attacking
Wood had gone into this game having failed to score in the Premier League since mid-February but ended his drought with a typical finish
flicking his header over Guglielmo Vicario
Forest don't often have many chances but they are clinical with the ones they get
with their two goals coming from their three shots on target
It is an effective playing style and has them firmly on course to seal a return to European football
'We've let ourselves down' - Postecoglou frustrated after loss against Forest
Tottenham had plenty of chances but failed to make the most of them as they did not find their spark until it was too late
With Ange Postecoglou's side sitting 16th in the Premier League
their focus is firmly on winning the Europa League and it perhaps showed with this display
They were pretty flat throughout this match and it took until Richarlison forced an excellent save out of Sels with a fierce 80th-minute header for them to come alive
Only Liverpool and Arsenal have stronger defences than Forest this season and although Richarlison did manage to halve the deficit with three minutes to go
the visitors did not look like conceding a late equaliser before boos greeted the final whistle from the home fans
If Tottenham can claim European glory this term it would cover for what has been a hugely disappointing campaign domestically
with this their 18th league defeat - only the bottom three sides have lost more
It is also the most defeats Spurs have suffered in a league campaign since losing 19 in 2003-04

Jota Silva has scored in each of his last two away Premier League games for Nottingham Forest
both as a substitute; all three of his goals in the competition have been off the bench
while in five games as a starter he’s had eight shots without finding the net
Kevin Schade and Yoane Wissa made the most of defensive mistakes to dent Forest’s Champions League hopes
Here is the wonderful Ben Fisher’s report from the City Ground.
4d ago22.36 CESTYoane Wissa: “Game after game we are showing what we can do. It was a top performance today against a very good team.
“We work a lot [on direct passes], it was something we worked on.
“I love scoring goal, it helps the team. The feeling is great.
Nathan Collins: “We want an exceptional season, we are not happy floating around midtable.
“It is lucky with our quality upfront, they can take it in front or go in behind.
“It is something unbelievable to build on. The fans were class throughout the whole game.”
4d ago22.27 CESTFour games to go for everyone in the Premier League now. Forest are sixth, level on points with Chelsea, who they face on the final day of the season.
4d ago22.24 CESTIt should be said that Brentford were excellent from start to finish. Thomas Frank is a very smart coach and his side were in control for the vast majority of the game here.
4d ago22.23 CESTDo Forest have nothing left to give? I was at the Everton game and they never looked like breaking down David Moyes side. The Forest players look pretty dejected.
4d ago22.22 CESTFull-time: Nottingham Forest 0-2 BrentfordIt was not a great performance from Forest but they will rue the two defence lapses that gifted Brentford victory and put a huge dent in their Champions League ambitions
4d ago22.18 CEST90 mins: Ajer bundles over Williams on the edge of the box. The Brentford man is booked. Elanga takes aim with the free-kick but there are enough Brentford bodies in the way and they scramble clear.
4d ago22.16 CEST88 mins: Williams curls in a cross from the left but it goes over everyone and out for a goal-kick. The Forest fans are starting to head for the exits.
Brentford break quickly. The ball eventually reaches Mbeumo on the edge of the box but his shot flies inches over.
4d ago22.14 CEST86 mins: Now or never for Forest … but their attack ends with a pointless offside.
4d ago22.12 CEST84 mins: Kayode and Damsgaard are off for Brentford. Konak is from Batman in Turkey, which is great news for all involved.
4d ago22.11 CEST82 mins: The noise has gone at the City Ground.
Brentford are plotting a double change. Ajer and Konak are being prepared.
4d ago22.08 CEST80 mins: This would be four defeats in five for Forest. Not an ideal team to have a stutter. They have had plenty of the ball in the second half but without creating a chance of note.
4d ago22.06 CEST78 mins: Norgaard recklessly takes down Yates on the byline. He is on a booking for England sees no reason to double that up. I am not sure why, as it is a yellow.
England books a member of the Forest backroom staff.
4d ago22.04 CEST76 mins: Elanga takes aim from 25 yards, the shot bounces up in front of Flekken but he is not worried about that.
Gibbs-White and Aina are taken off. Jota Silva to right-back?
4d ago22.02 CEST74 mins: Kayode finds space on the right, then cuts in onto his left foot and produces a truly dreadful shot that loops wide.
4d ago22.00 CEST72 mins: This is turning out to be a deflating night for Forest. Time for Jota?
4d ago22.00 CESTGOAL
which Murillo fails to deal with in the first instance and then Milenkovic does nothing to stop the ball going through to Wissa
4d ago21.58 CEST70 mins: Aina controls a pass on the right but then loses possession, sending the ball behind for a goal-kick.
Things are getting tense in the City Ground. Is Champions League football slipping away from them?
4d ago21.56 CEST68 mins: Elanga gets round the back of the Brentford defence, finding space to head a cross back across goal but Collins whacks it behind.
Schade is coming off, Jensen the man replacing him.
4d ago21.55 CEST66 mins: Brentford have a corner on the right. Mbeumo lines it up … but Gibbs-White wins the first header. Brentford work is back into the box and Mbeumo shoots from 16 yards, only to see his shot blocked.
4d ago21.53 CEST64 mins: Aina sends in a fine cross that finds Wood at the back post but he can only direct his header wide.
Not 100% sure what the Forest formation is now. I think Gibbs-White has dropped deeper alongside Yates.
4d ago21.52 CEST62 mins: Forest win a corner on the left
They have the added height of Awoniyi now and a front two
England is delaying the taking of the corner by speaking to everyone jostling in the box
The cross goes in and out of the box without a chance being created
Williams is booked for a deliberate handball to stop a Brentford counter.
4d ago21.48 CEST60 mins: Hey hey! I am a genius. Awoniyi is coming on. Is Nuno reading? Although, it looks like he will replace Anderson. Gibbs-White to move to the right?
4d ago21.46 CEST58 mins: Forest enjoy a little pressure but it ends with Yates firing wide from 25 yards
There is a VAR check for a potential penalty for Brentford after Schade goes down in the box. Nothing in it. We carry on.
4d ago21.44 CEST56 mins: Wood has not looked the same since his injury. Is it worth giving Awoniyi a runout?
4d ago21.42 CEST54 mins: Mbeumo darts down the right wing, then cuts in and shoots but Sels saves in front of the post.
Down the other end … Elanga defeats Kayode and then takes aim for the bottom corner, forcing Flekken into a good save, tipping the ball behind.
4d ago21.40 CEST52 mins: Anderson fires in a lot cross from the left but it beats everyone and goes out for a goal-kick.
4d ago21.38 CEST50 mins: Elanga gets to the byline and pings a cross into the centre, which is blocked by the goalkeeper.
The raining is really coming down. The gardeners of Nottingham will be pleased.
4d ago21.36 CEST48 mins: Dominguez has gone out to the right and Elanga moved over to the left. I wonder why Nuno did not put Jota on for Hudson-Odoi. Interesting …
4d ago21.34 CEST46 mins: In other news … it is raining in Nottingham.
4d ago21.33 CESTSecond halfHere we go again!
Brentford make a change as Henry replaces Lewis-Potter, while Dominguez comes on for Hudson-Odoi for Forest.
4d ago21.23 CESTHalf-time listening.
4d ago21.15 CEST45 mins: Two minutes added on.
4d ago21.13 CEST43 mins: Brentford get a corner on the right after Sels punches a long throw-in behind. Collins wins the header but Forest manage to clear before any damage is done.
4d ago21.12 CEST42 mins: Norgaard is belatedly booked for a late challenge on Gibbs-White. We are up to five yellows in match, Brentford winning 3-2
4d ago21.08 CEST38 mins: Sky have some trendy graph which tells us that Brentford dominated early on and now Forest are in charge. I could also see that … with my eyes.
Yarmoliuk and Yates clash in the centre circle, leaving the Ukrainian very irked. The ref has a word with both and sensibly does not show any more cards.
4d ago21.06 CEST36 mins: I am not sure what happened to the Dominguez substitution but he was certainly getting ready at one stage
Hudson-Odoi is down after a Mbeumo foul. The Brentford man is booked but it’s not too bad
Man City and Newcastle to sit third in the table

21 Apr 202523.06 CESTPSA: John Higgins and Joe O’Connor are playing an epic at the Crucible. If you’re near a telly, I urge you to get it on.
21 Apr 202522.59 CESTFULL TIME: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Nottingham ForestA monumental win for forest, who move back into third place; Spurs stay 16th.
21 Apr 202522.58 CEST90+6 min Forest are nearly there, Sosa pulling wide and instead of going to the corner, looking to clip over towards Awoniyi. It doesn’t work out, but Awoniyi then wins a free-kick by the touchline, right it front of the away fans, noising them up as if they needed such, and that is surely it.
21 Apr 202522.56 CEST90+4 min Johnson, the former Forest man, collects a pass on the run, skipping inside Toffolo, who fouls him and is booked. free-kick Spurs, out on the right, 30 yards from goal … and someone, I don’t see who, heads clear then, when it comes back, williams humps forward for Awoniyi.
21 Apr 202522.55 CEST90+3 min Change for forest, Sosa replacing Gibbs-White.
21 Apr 202522.53 CEST90+1 min Milenkovic goes down with apparent cramp, but is soon back to his feet.
21 Apr 202522.52 CEST90 min We’ll have five additional minutes.
21 Apr 202522.52 CEST90 min Begvall, on for Sarr – apologies, I didn’t get to noting it – gets away, is hauled down by Yates, and that’s a yellow card.
21 Apr 202522.50 CEST88 min Credit to Richarlison, who’s toiled tonight without losing hope or confidence. His last header was pretty good, requiring a really good save to keep it out, and the one that scored was superb.
21 Apr 202522.49 CESTGOAL1 Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Nottingham Forest (Richarlison 87)Livener
and this time he guides a terrific header down and across Sels
21 Apr 202522.45 CEST84 min My SkyGo crashes, returning just in time for me to see Spence shanking a shot somewhere towards Selhurst Park.
21 Apr 202522.44 CEST82 min On which point, what a season Sels has had. Matt Turner wasn’t quite good enough, but even so, the extent of the upgrade is unusual.
21 Apr 202522.43 CEST81 min What a save Matz Sels! Porro tosses in a cross and Richarlison is up again, heading down … but Sels does brilliantly to wait for it to bounce before flicking it away. Had he tried to get a hand to it when it hit the ground, it would’ve beaten him.
I don’t think the players are great, but Postecoglou’s Spurs remind me a bit of Ten Hag’s United: good enough to beat the beast on a good day, but the manager couldn’t find a corrective when the system that worked fine with the best, richest team in a weaker league turned out to be unsuitable for the Prem.
21 Apr 202522.40 CEST77 min This has been one of Tel’s better games for Spurs – he’s looked more likely than most to make something happen, without looking remotely likely to make something happen. He might be good in a good team, but he’s not good enough to elevate a poor one.
21 Apr 202522.37 CEST75 min Johnson tosses a hopeful cross miles from anywhere, then Forest make another changes, Awoniyi for Wood – who now has 18 goals for the season.
21 Apr 202522.36 CEST74 min Forest are so good at keeping their opponents attacks in front of them. Nuno and his coaches have done such a good job of getting the team to buy into, then drill the plan.
21 Apr 202522.34 CEST72 min Again, Forest allow Danso to have the ball, so he mooches a little closer to goal, then lashes a shot back the way he came … which scuttles just wide of the post.
21 Apr 202522.33 CEST71 min Here come Spurs again, Spence attacking the outside of Williams, who doesn’t have the pace or physicality to cope, but just about manages to get back ceding a corner … which comes to nowt.
21 Apr 202522.32 CEST70 min Wood bursts away from Sarr on halfway and with no Van de Ven on the pitch tries to stick it in behind Davies and run him, but the defender gets in the way easily enough.
21 Apr 202522.30 CEST68 min Two more changes for Spurs: off go Odobert and Kulusevski, on come Solanke and Johnson.
21 Apr 202522.29 CEST67 min Sels saves Forest! A clearance hits Yates on the back and diverts the ball into the box, right to Richarlison! But he’s maybe a little late to react, the keeper leaps at him, and wears the driven shot on the midriff. That’s a bit of a sair yin, but he’ll be fine.
21 Apr 202522.27 CEST65 min Gibbs-White’s touch is off, he lunges at Porro looking to retrieve the situation, and lands studs on ankle. He’s booked.
21 Apr 202522.26 CEST63 min Oh my days
Kulusevski is up to glance a header headed for the far side-netting … until
Toffolo – facing his own goal – extends a go-go Gadget leg to hook away from under his own bar
21 Apr 202522.22 CEST60 min “Hasan’s problems would be solved, in many ways, by Forest winning a third European Cup,” reckons Simon McGrother.
21 Apr 202522.21 CEST58 min Two more changes for Forest: off go Danilo and Dominguez, on come Yates and Hudson-Odoi – who we thought might affect the game in the last half-hour or so.
21 Apr 202522.19 CEST57 min “Can’t agree with you about all except Spurs supporters siding with Forest,” says Richard Hirst. “I still have this nagging feeling that Forest got away with one when they went on their supermarket sweep; I can’t believe they weren’t relegated. For them to qualify for the Champions League seems inappropriate.”
Oh I didn’t say people would be siding with Forest, just laughing at Spurs given the extent to which the game has gone as they’d have planned it to. I agree that theirs is not a simple story of footballing romance – likewise that of Bournemouth and Brighton – but these days, it’s hard to do much better.
21 Apr 202522.16 CEST54 min Now it’s Porro on the attack and Sarr again box-crashes – he must’ve been given the order – but the ball arrives at an awkward angle and all he can do is flick it over his own head to no one.
21 Apr 202522.14 CEST53 min So far this half, it’s been all Spurs, but Forest are comfortable.
21 Apr 202522.14 CEST51 min Better from Spurs, Danso offered space so feeding into the box, where Sarr’s first touch takes him into space and away from Milenkovic, who grabs a handful of shirt on the ref’s blind side, and does enough to hold his man up – though there was also too much on the control.
21 Apr 202522.12 CEST50 min We’re back into it at Stockley Park, the fire alarm resolved and VAR back working … or not.
On the plus side, you can now also draw one of the great Muppets.

Doucouré made no mistake next time as he kept his cool to beat Sels when through on goal, showing everyone inside the ground how to stay calm in a tense situation and inflict a first home defeat on the FA Cup semi-finalists since mid-November.
Forest prefer to be underdogs, but they are in pole position and they need to cope with the pressure that comes with it. They will need to learn from this quickly or face seeing their dream vanish.
“It’s in our hands,” Nuno said. “But nobody is going to give us nothing, we have to do it by ourselves. It’s up to us to improve and compete much better like we did before.”

Netball is a seven-a-side game where the aim is to score goals by passing the ball down the court and throwing it in your opponents net
players are not allowed to move/run/dribble with the ball
The 2023 World Cup is taking place next summer in South Africa
and Wales competing against the likes of Australia and Jamaica
So there's no better time to get inspired by the top teams and have a go at netball yourself
so men and women and boys and girls can all play on the same side
There's also a strong sense of friendship and team-bonding within netball teams

Follow live coverage as Crystal Palace face Nottingham Forest today in the Premier League. Another top-flight season will be covered in full right here with The Independent, as reigning champions Manchester City look to make it an unprecedented five titles in a row come the end of 2024/25.
The likes of Arsenal and Liverpool will be chasing Pep Guardiola's side, but just as fascinating will be the race for Champions League places, with more teams than ever before having designs on top-four finishes. Chelsea remain big-spending, Manchester United's latest rebuild continues and both Tottenham and Newcastle will expect improvements this year - yet it was Aston Villa who snared fourth last term.
Meanwhile, it's Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town who made it back to the elite after promotion last year and each will have hope they can make it more than a one-year stay. Follow the latest live action from the Premier League below:
FULL-TIME: CRYSTAL PALACE 1-1 NOTTINGHAM FOREST
Gibbs-White sends a teasing delivery into the box, floating a pass towards Wood. Lacroix heads it up into the air and Wood is looking to get there, but Henderson comes off his line to collect, taking the pressure off for Palace.
We're now into the ninth minute of added time, but despite only eight being added on, we're expecting a few more. Milenkovic was down injured and required treatment, while there was also a communication issue between the officials, which took a few minutes to resolve.
Another Forest defender is now down injured, and this time it's Milenkovic. The towering centre-back is being treated by the Forest medical team after being struck in the face. Nuno won't want to lose another player at the back.
Close! Forest attempt to clear from a corner as Sels punches away, and it falls to Hughes inside the box on the right-hand side. He sends a dipping half volley towards the far corner, but it's over the bar and behind for a goal-kick.
Munoz plays a one-two with Lerma and gets to the byline before firing a low cross towards the back post. Sels palms it away and it cannons off his own team-mate, but it just about deflects behind for a corner. Hughes will take and he delivers into the middle, but Sels punches away.
Palace have the ball in the net, but it won't count! Eze creates space for himself inside the penalty area, and he fires towards the bottom corner. Nketiah helps to poke it home, firing into the back of the net, but the assistant referee has his flag up. Nketiah was in an offside position.

Reform had only ever been represented by one councillor in Nottinghamshire
a former Conservative who switched allegiances in January this year
is part of the ruling party at County Hall
He's told the BBC that he "had to see it with his own eyes" the support he was getting on the campaign trail
He said: "I think the results are quite staggering
I had to pinch myself a lot at the time when I was out campaigning."
Dr Doddy said despite any perceived inexperience
Reform was ready to take the reins of a council
He said: "We recognise the things we've got to do
we're just going to do them differently
"We're looking at how to use the taxpayers' money better and that's what people say to me - they don't understand where all the money is going and their services are going down and the money they're paying is going up and they can't put that together
"That's where the common sense come in."

Residents in Rushcliffe have sent a strong message that they do not wish to join a new Nottingham City Council
is the view of West Bridgford South Cllr Jonathan Wheeler
Cllr Wheeler who was one of eight Conservative Councillors to be elected in Rushcliffe on Thursday for Nottinghamshire County Council
Against a national trend of Conservative Councillors losing their seats
the Conservatives retained the same number they finished the last Council term on
and a key pledge of their manifesto was to campaign to stay out of Nottingham City Council
something which Cllr Wheeler says with the number one issue on the doorstep
‘After knocking on thousands of doors in the last few months I can tell you the overwhelming majority of people do not want to join a new Nottingham City Council and see Rushcliffe Borough Council
‘The election results are a clear message and mandate
and it is time the Government listened and scrapped this ridiculous idea
‘We will continue to fight any plans to join the city
and will call on the new Reform administration to reject any attempts to join a new city council be to join or calls for a public referendum on the issue
‘Finally I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for Local Conservatives in the election
we will continue to stand up for residents and hold the new Reform administration to account on delivering the promises they made to the electorate.’

Skegness traders have shared why they love working in the town
with one business owner saying its because everyone is always happy to be beside the seaside
Craig Baldwin owns Chunky Monkey off the Tower Esplanade
where the business is entering its fourth season
He has also recently bought Vanilla Sky Ice Cream Parlour closer to the beach
as everyone is in a good mood because they are at the seaside
You get a lot of people here from Scotland

He added that he used to work in Nottinghamshire
Celebrating 10 years in business this year
Danni said: "I've been in Skegness my whole life
Normally the season is March to the beginning of the November
and then in winter I have time off with the kids."
she said: "The first few weeks were quiet and then the last couple of weeks it has started to pick up
This is our first week we have been open whilst the kids are at school
so it's been a bit quiet this week just because the kids are at school
"If the weather stays nice then it should be busy
we normally have to hold out for the good weather." She explained that "the wet weather can put off the day trippers" so they struggle a bit then
but if there are people staying for a week or in caravans they usually still come into town and partake in indoor activities like the amusements
Danni added: "When the fairground is open we are a lot busier." She says she loves the "flexibility" of owning her own business
and gets to meet a lot of interesting people
She said: "A couple of weeks ago we had a bloke from New Zealand that was on about moving to Skegness." Danni owns three businesses in the town
and on busy days says she can go four or five hours where it is hectic and just constant customer after customer
Danni said: "I used to work for someone else doing the same thing before
and then in 2015 we decided 'why not do it for ourselves' and that is what we have done since."

Witnesses of traumatic events are now being given trauma support cards providing them with help and advice – thanks to a new joint initiative
Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have teamed up with NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies to create and issue the double-sided credit card sized advice cards
They will be given to members of the public who have witnessed distressing incidents and been exposed to trauma – such as serious violence
The cards direct people to Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies – a free and confidential NHS service designed to help with common mental health problems such as stress
and depression – as well as advising on self-help resources and how people can get urgent help and support if it is needed
said: “These new cards will help us deliver an even better service to well-intentioned members of the public who are often first on scene of many of our traumatic incidents and who report incidents to us despite being exposed to trauma
“I want to thank those individuals who do the right thing by summoning help or often seeking
to engage with those individuals experiencing a crisis
pending the arrival of the emergency services
“We noticed there was limited advice our response
control room and Operational Support teams could provide to witnesses of traumatic incidents so we’re excited to deliver this new initiative alongside our partners
when officers are present at a traumatic incident with witnesses still on scene
they can provide this advice card to them directly
“If a 999 caller comes through our force control room and is not present on scene
we can send them similar advice via a text message or email
“We want to spread these cards far and wide
Even if just one person gets the support they need after receiving one of our cards then it will be worth it.”
Head of Community Safety and Engagement from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service
said: “We’re really pleased to be able to work with Notts Talk and Nottinghamshire Police to bring this extra support to people who witness traumatic events in our communities
“We often attend incidents where a local community member has called 999
administered first aid or witnessed something difficult such as a fire
“Having someone to talk to in confidence about how this has impacted them will really help
“We understand the impact this can have and provide debriefs and mental health first aid to our staff who attend such incidents so we are pleased to be able to support the public in this way working with Notts Talk.”
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies
added: “We’re incredibly proud to work with Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service on this project
ensuring that Nottingham’s local communities are offered more access to mental health support
“We want to ensure that Talking Therapies can be accessed by everyone and make sure no-one struggles alone.”
The cards also include a unique QR code so that Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Talking Therapies can monitor how many people access their website page and see how successfully these cards are being engaged with

A thief behind a crime spree that featured robberies, burglaries and over a dozen shop thefts has been locked up.
Raymond Ward targeted shop after shop either side of the New Year – pocketing items and angrily confronting anyone who challenged him.
Two such occasions saw Ward’s antics cross the line from shoplifting into robbery offences after he threatened to stab shopworkers who followed him out of the stores.
Those two incidents – in Clifton on 9 December and in Wilford on 7 January – came in the midst of a five-week period during which the 32-year-old brazenly walked into multiple shops with the intention to steal.
Designer clothes, alcohol, toiletries and electronic items were all stolen by Ward during 15 separate thefts across different parts of Nottingham, between 3 December and 9 January.
While many of these were low-level thefts, thanks to a recent change in the law meaning all shop thefts are now prosecuted the same way in court, no matter the value of the items, Ward was ultimately sanctioned for the lot.
In addition to his relentless shoplifting, Ward was also responsible for carrying out two burglaries during his crime spree.
He firstly helped himself to a gazebo after breaking into a house in The Park on 18 December, with the intruder then stealing electronic items and cash from a store in Nottingham city centre on 21 December too.
Ward’s final offences happened on 9 January, when he again threatened a staff member after taking items from a shop.
A pair of plyers and a screwdriver were then found in his possession when police caught up with him later that day.
He would go on to be charged with two robberies, two burglaries, 15 counts of shop theft, going equipped for theft, using threatening/abusive/ words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of unlawful violence, and breaking bail conditions.
Having pleaded guilty to each of the 22 offences put to him, Ward, of St Peter’s Street, Radford, attended Nottingham Crown Court to be sentenced on 25 April.
“We’re really pleased with this result and the knowledge that Raymond Ward won’t be causing any issues on our streets or to our retailers for the foreseeable future.
“It’s good to know Ward has now been punished for his actions, while the CBO included in his sentence will provide our communities with some extra protection from him when he’s released from prison.”
In a fiercely contested encounter in Nottingham
we delivered a performance full of intensity
overcoming a side that had previously gone unbeaten
With both teams trading momentum across all four quarters
it was Forest’s clinical execution in the decisive moments that proved the difference
Having suffered a 73-51 defeat to Pulse in the season opener
this result not only underlines our progress
but also sends a clear message of intent as the campaign gathers pace
We opened the match with high energy and intent
setting the tempo in a tightly contested first quarter
we were sharp from the outset - Tash Pavelin and Jayda Pechova were relentless in applying pressure
disrupting London Pulse’s flow and forcing valuable turnovers that allowed us to launch swift counter-attacks
Our midcourt pairing of Iona Christian and Brie Grieson played a pivotal role in transitioning defence into attack
showing control as they linked play and fed the shooting circle with precision
working the ball neatly into scoring positions and capitalising on Pulse's errors
showed why they came into the fixture unbeaten
responding with composure and clinical finishing
Their shooting duo of Olivia Tchine and Nichole Breedt proved dangerous late in the quarter
with the shooters making full use of the super shot to keep the visitors in touch
the quarter closed with both teams neck and neck at 16-15 to Forest
We carried our momentum into the second quarter with renewed purpose
building on a string of defensive stops to stretch our lead
Goal Keeper Pechova was instrumental once again
producing a series of crucial interceptions that not only disrupted London Pulse’s rhythm but also injected energy into our transition play
Her positioning and timing allowed us to win back possession at key moments
keeping the pressure firmly on the visitors
Pulse responded with increased defensive intensity
attempting to close down space and force errors
but we remained disciplined and resilient in our structures
our ability to retain possession and convert chances kept us on the front foot
we had carved out a well-earned 36 - 31 lead - evidence of a disciplined performance against one of the league’s strongest sides
The third quarter saw both sides emerge with renewed determination
each intent on gaining the upper hand in what was shaping up to be a fiercely contested battle
The early exchanges were tightly contested
as tactical play from both teams disrupted rhythm and created a cagey opening few minutes
it was Forest who soon found the upper hand
with our defensive unit once again stepping up to deliver under pressure
forcing a series of errors and turnovers that halted Pulse’s attacking momentum
Their intensity and communication frustrated the visitors and provided the platform for Forest to transition quickly into attack
the confidence in our forward play continued to grow
A standout moment came when Rolene Streutker sunk a stunning long-range shot from the top of the circle - an effort that summed up the Reds’ dominance in the quarter
with cheers echoing around the Motorpoint Arena as we began to take full control of the match
With the score stretching to 57–42 by the end of the third period
Forest had not only maintained their lead but extended it in real authority —putting us in a commanding position heading into the final quarter
The final quarter saw London Pulse continue to battle with intensity
refusing to let the game slip away without a fight
we remained composed under pressure - managing the clock
The energy in the Motorpoint Arena reflected that control
with a more relaxed yet confident atmosphere settling in as Forest held firm
Our defensive discipline and attacking fluidity ensured that any late threats from Pulse were calmly dealt with
as we kept the scoreboard ticking over and denied the visitors a way back into the contest
The final whistle confirmed a 69–59 victory - an impressive display of skill
determination and unity from a Forest side that showed real maturity in closing out the match
The victory marks a significant moment in Forest’s debut Netball Super League campaign - defeating the league leaders and showcasing the progress made since the opening day
Player of the Match Iona Christian praised the team’s unity and resilience after the final whistle
saying: “I'm just so proud of every single one of our girls to go out there and put out 60 minutes like that today against an incredible Pulse side
Pulse have proven all season that they're the team to beat this year
So to come out in front of a home crowd who definitely got us over the line today feels amazing.”
Head Coach Chelsea Pitman echoed that pride
reflecting on the performance with clear emotion: “It feels really good
I'm just really proud of the performance that they put out there
Three words that I said at training from the start of this week were be relentless
play courageous and make sure we're gritty
Forest will look to carry this momentum forward as they continue to build in confidence
identity and belief in their debut Super League season.
