The dramatic raid took place on the afternoon of Thursday 1 May
when officers from Greater Manchester Police’s Rochdale Neighbourhood Policing Team and Trading Standards descended on a business park on Crown Top Lane in Castleton
Intelligence had suggested that a gang known for counterfeit trading in Cheetham Hill had expanded into the borough
The operation led to the discovery of seven industrial units packed with fake branded items
were arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing and controlling counterfeit goods
They have been bailed pending further investigation
police secured the site overnight and returned the following day with a heavy goods vehicle to remove the counterfeit stock
“Officers from our Neighbourhood Policing Team
discovered various high-end counterfeit goods to the estimated value of £6 million
We take any intelligence submitted by the public seriously and act upon it accordingly.”
This bust forms part of a wider strategy to clamp down on organised crime in the Castleton area
It also shines a spotlight once again on the notorious Cheetham Hill counterfeit network
which has long been associated with fake designer goods flooding northern markets
GMP has seized more than £17.7 million in cash and assets from organised criminal activity across Greater Manchester
Under the Asset Recovery Incentivisation Scheme
a portion of this is reinvested in local communities to repair the harm caused by crime
The public is being urged to remain vigilant and report any information related to counterfeit trading or organised crime by contacting police on 101 or using GMP’s online LiveChat service

Former police officer and campaigner Maggie Oliver has condemned Commons leader Lucy Powell's dismissive comments on grooming gangs, saying they show a lack of "humanity or integrity".
Speaking to GB News, Oliver said Powell's remarks "verbalises the contempt" that successive governments have shown towards victims.
"It's insensitive, it's insulting, it's dismissive," Oliver stated.
She added that Powell had "made a horrendous mistake" by revealing what politicians actually think behind closed doors.
Maggie Oliver lashed out at Lucy Powell's comments on grooming gangs
"For somebody to say that after that program on Channel Four last Wednesday shows the lack of humanity," Oliver said, describing Powell as someone without "humanity or integrity or even the most basic understanding" of victims' experiences.
Powell's controversial comments came during BBC Radio 4's Any Questions when she interrupted Reform UK's Tim Montgomerie as he questioned why Labour blocked a national inquiry into grooming gangs.
Maggie Oliver reacted to the remarks on GB News
"Oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now, do we? Let's get that dog whistle out, shall we?" Powell said.
Her remarks sparked widespread backlash, with victims accusing her of "totally dismissing" their abuse.
Sarah Wilson, who was abused from age 11 in Rotherham, said Powell's attitude showed "what victims and survivors have been up against all these years".
Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp called for Powell's resignation, saying her "shocking outburst" belittled thousands of victims.
Powell later apologised on social media, claiming she was challenging "political point scoring" rather than the issue itself.
In the same GB News interview, Oliver made the explosive claim that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is "complicit" in covering up child sex grooming gangs.
"I spoke in January about this because in my opinion, he is complicit," Oliver told the programme.
She pointed to Starmer's previous role as Director of Public Prosecutions during the Rochdale grooming gang cases.
Oliver recounted her experience supporting a victim who was made pregnant at 13, whose abuser served just over three years in prison.
"As Director of Public Prosecutions, in my opinion, there is no doubt that he knew what charges were being brought," she said.
Oliver revealed she has launched a campaign called #TheyKnew with other survivors, working with lawyers and barristers to bring those at the top of public institutions to justice.
The campaign aims to pursue private prosecutions or civil actions against officials involved in covering up abuse.
"The time for talking has long gone," Oliver stated.
She criticised the government for failing to implement recommendations from the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA).
Oliver said she had threatened judicial review in January, with the government promising a timeline by Easter that has yet to materialise.
She also claimed Starmer had accused victims and whistleblowers like herself of being "far-right extremists".

A woman has died after four people were injured in two collisions with a car in Rochdale on Saturday, police said
A 49-year-old male driver has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remanded into custody, police said, adding that the incident is being treated as isolated.
The woman had been airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a car in Whitworth Road – and three pedestrians, including a child, were injured in Woodgate Avenue, around two miles away.
All three who were injured suffered minor injuries and have since been discharged from hospital, police added.
The incidents are not being treated as terrorism-related.
Assistant Chief Constable John Webster said the “actions of a single person have caused significant damage to the people of Rochdale”.
He added that today’s arrest was not related to a counter-terrorism arrest made on Saturday evening.
ACC Webster added: “We are aware of comments on social media about the driver’s identity and ethnicity. The suspect is a white male currently in custody and no further details can be released at this time.
“I also want to reassure the public that ongoing efforts are being taken to ensure the safety of people in Rochdale and our Major Incident Team are conducting several lines of enquiry. The lone offender has been arrested on suspicion of murder and it is being treated as an isolated incident, with both scenes now closed and roads reopened.
“To all those people affected by yesterday’s tragic events, community solidarity and unity is vital in times like these and especially for the families and friends of those impacted by this incident.”

Asked about possible links to the Iranian state
she said: “These are major operations that have taken place and the ongoing investigation is immensely important
and of course it involves Iranian nationals in both investigations and we are supporting the police and the security agencies in the investigations that they are taking and the security assessments that they are doing
“But this reflects the complexity of the kinds of challenges to our national security that we continue to face that we have set out and that is why protecting our national security including supporting these extremely professional operations and investigations remains our top priority.”
