The Cleveland Cavaliers were the wire-to-wire No and their first-round series against Miami proved how potent they can be giving the Cavs some extra rest headed into the conference semifinals The No. 4 Indiana Pacers including a thrilling Game 5 in which they overcame a seven-point deficit in the final 40 seconds of overtime MORE: NBA sing-a-long returns: Famous sports anthem will be back with NBC coverage ANALYSIS: Gregg Popovich's impact on the Spurs and NBA was immense. Six ways he left his footprint. Here's everything you need to know about the second-round series between the No Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton: The NBA's leader in assist-to-turnover ratio (5.61) Haliburton can often defer a little too much to his teammates And there are certainly matchups when it works for him to use the attention he draws against his opponents respectively; against Cleveland's potent offense Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell: With the status of point guard Darius Garland (toe sprain) still in question Mitchell's services weren't heavily required in blowouts in Games 3 and 4 but he dropped 30 in each of Games 1 and 2 His ability to score inside and out should stress Indiana's defense though expect the Pacers to put shifty guard Andrew Nembhard or Aaron Nesmith on Mitchell How the Cavaliers will win: If Cleveland maintains the defensive intensity with which it shut down the Heat in the first round quick-paced and gets contributions from various sources are a pair of bench players who are capable of popping off The Pacers won the regular-season series against the Cavaliers The Cavs lost 121-112 to the Pacers in Game 1 on Sunday Here is how the opening game between the Cavs and Pacers unfolded through our updates: The Cavs had problems keeping up with the Pacers' elite transition offense and Indiana also had an incredible shooting performance The Pacers went 44-of-83 shooting from the field (53%) Guards Andrew Nembhard and Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 23 and 22 points Haliburton added 13 assists for a double-double Center Myles Turner also produced a double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) Guard Donovan Mitchell scored a game-high 33 points for the Cavs followed by guard Ty Jerome with 21 points and forward Evan Mobley with 20 points and 10 rebounds The Cavs continue to be torched by the Pacers' scorching 3-point shooting and trail 112-106 with 3:32 left in the fourth quarter The Pacers are shooting 4-of-8 on 3-pointers thus far in the final quarter After the Cavs took a 102-101 lead when small forward Max Strus split two free throws with 7:05 remaining the Pacers got successful 3-pointers from guard Tyrese Haliburton and two from guard Andrew Nembhard A putback by center Myles Turner gave the Pacers a six-point lead with 3:23 remaining and forced a Cavs timeout De'Andre Hunter falls hard on drive to basket against Bennedict Mathurin, but the play is deemed a clean blockCavs wing De'Andre Hunter drove to the basket on a fast break off a steal by guard Ty Jerome Hunter was met near the rim by Pacers wing Bennedict Mathurin The original call on the floor was a blocked shot by Mathurin and it stood after a replay review with 7:44 left in the fourth quarter coach Kenny Atkinson said Hunter is among the Cavs players who got banged up The Pacers nicely took the Cavs' bench punch and Indiana will take a 92-90 lead into the fourth quarter via a corner 3 from Myles Turner at the buzzer Donovan Mitchell is a man on a mission right now and spent most of the final minutes of the third quarter driving to the rim and directing traffic on both offense and defense The Cavs subbed him out with a minute left and Mitchell had his hands on his head trying to get some air after the all-out performance that brought the Cavs back Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley lead Cavs back; Cavaliers retake lead over Pacers in Game 1The Cavs have stormed back it was all Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley Mitchell came away with a steal that led to two free throws split a few Pacers defenders and finished the play with a dunk to make it a one-point deficit Dean Wade applied some stingy defense to Pascal Siakam Evan Mobley followed with a Cavs miss with a putback layup and the Cavs have taken an 85-84 lead with 3:16 left in the third quarter erasing what was once a 12-point Indiana advantage The Pacers are using their five-out offense and spacing to find some really good looks The latest examples are both from Aaron Nesmith who just buried back-to-back 3s to make it an 80-68 Indiana lead with 7:17 left in the third quarter the Pacers have hit 13 of their 22 3s tonight but it should be noted that many of those attempts were open 3s Indiana has had the Cavs scrambling on defense Jarrett Allen just threw down a thunderous dunk on Myles Turner of the Pacers but the Cavs crowd also wanted the whistle for some contact that left Allen down for a few moments Allen rose up over Turner and dunked it over him early in the third quarter Allen hit the floor hard and appeared to be in some discomfort Allen remained down for a moment as the Pacers in-bounded the ball The Cavs have cut Indiana's lead to 67-63 early in the third quarter Max Strus buried a 3-pointer and on the next possession found Evan Mobley for an alley-oop dunk Mobley has been efficient tonight with 13 points on 6-for-8 shooting from the floor the Pacers proved in the first half they're not the Miami Heat the Pacers will present a significantly more difficult matchup than the Heat were in the first round The Cavs trailed the Pacers 64-58 at halftime Indiana's elite transition offense repeatedly generated good looks and the Pacers often capitalized in the first half going 24-of-40 shooting from the floor (60%) the Cavs went 25-of-51 shooting from the field (49%) The Pacers outrebounded the Cavs 19-18 in the first half The Pacers outscored the Cavs 8-3 in fast-break points All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell had 15 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the field (1 of 6 on 3s) to lead the Cavs in the first half All-Star forward Evan Mobley had 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor but just two rebounds Guard Ty Jerome came off the bench and scored 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the floor to go along with five assists All-Star forward Pascal Siakam had 13 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the floor (2 of 3 on 3s) and five rebounds in the first half Guard Andrew Nembhard had 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field (2 of 3 on 3s) Guard Tyrese Haliburton had nine points and six assists The Cavs trailed the Pacers 58-54 during a timeout with 2:06 left in the second quarter Cleveland has actually outscored Indiana 29-22 thus far in the second quarter but it hasn't completely dug out of the 11-point hole it encountered at the end of the opening quarter Pacers All-Star forward Pascal Siakam started hot and leads Indiana with 13 points so far yet he airballed a jump shot with Cavs center Jarrett Allen contesting it with 2:16 remaining before halftime Then Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell made a jump shot to cut Cleveland's deficit to four points with 2:06 left in the second quarter Mitchell had a game-high 15 points at this juncture guard Ty Jerome gave the Cavs a boost in the second quarter He has scored seven of his nine points in the quarter and the Pacers will quickly answer with a basket of their own on the other end of the floor The Cavs trailed the Pacers 45-35 during a timeout with 8:06 left in the second quarter and Indiana's pace has been giving Cleveland trouble The Pacers are getting good looks in their half-court offense despite the Cavs deploying a zone defense at times the Pacers were shooting 18-of-28 from the floor (64.3%) The Cavs were shooting 16-of-34 from the field (47.1%) That was a tremendous first quarter for the Pacers who executed their offense and stifled the Cavs to the tune of a 36-25 lead heading to the second quarter The Cavs never looked comfortable on offense and strangely had two instances of running into one another the last one leading to an easy Obi Toppin dunk Indiana hit six of their nine 3-point attempts in the quarter The Pacers have done well to find their shot Even without Tyrese Haliburton off the floor and getting some rest Donovan Mitchell had nine points in the quarter but also missed his last three shots The Cavs hit just three of their 12 3-point attempts The Pacers are leading 26-23 with 3:20 left in the first quarter McConnell of the Pacers received a pass in the corner Ty Jerome followed with a floater thanks to a screen set by Dean Wade which knocked McConnell off his route enough to give Jerome some space While Tyrese Haliburton often receives a lot of the credit and attention for the Pacers' success Atkinson was quick to note that it's Pascal Siakam as Siakam and Donovan Mitchell are in a duel of sorts and the Pacers are up on the Cavs 16-14 with 6:30 to go in the first quarter have been able to find enough space for some good looks to open the series Mitchell already has nine points on 4-for-5 shooting from the floor Game 2 of the series will take place on Tuesday Cleveland Cavaliers playoffs: Cavs vs Pacers features matchup of All-Star forwards Evan Mobley and decisive Game 5 featured a wild ending The Pacers trailed 118-111 with 40 seconds left in overtime but they ended the game on an 8-0 run to prevail 119-118 After Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton made a Indiana Pacers to being the team mom "Your job is to take care of everybody," Haliburton said after the Pacers stunned the top-seeded Cleveland Cavaliers 121-112 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals Sunday night Haliburton set the tone on both ends of the floor for Indiana to spark its Game 1 victory dished out 13 assists and added some key plays on the defensive end making him the first player in Pacers history to put up that kind of production in a playoff game "He makes all of us better," said Pacers guard Andrew Nembhard who scored 23 points and went 5-for-6 on 3-pointers "He's kind of old school in the way he plays pure point guard getting the ball in the spots you like and in rhythm." The Pacers raced out to an advantage from the opening period, jumping on the Cavaliers -- who were missing All-Star guard Darius Garland for the third straight game with a toe injury -- for a nine-point lead by the end of the first quarter Indiana had an advantage for most of the game and a 12-point lead in the third quarter before the Cavs began to rally Cleveland took a 102-101 lead with 6:30 remaining in the fourth on a free throw from Max Strus But the Pacers ended the game on a 20-10 run started off by a Haliburton 3-pointer and punctuated by a Haliburton block on a Strus shot which he followed with a layup on the other end to make it a 10-point game with 2:12 remaining The Pacers had six players finish in double figures Aaron Nesmith and Pascal Siakam each had 17 points "We're just trying to be a confident group coming into this series," Haliburton said "There's not a lot of people picking us to win by any means but we're trying to control what we can as a group The Pacers finished with their second-most 3-point makes in postseason history including 7-of-12 off passes from Tyrese Haliburton "This is nothing to freak out about," Mitchell said after the game and you got to come in and give them credit [It's] pretty much been the message the whole time understanding that look we didn't play our best basketball Although the Pacers were excited to win the first game of the series and hand the Cavs their first loss of the postseason Indiana coach Rick Carlisle reminded his team after the game to stay hungry Indiana was able to steal home-court advantage in the series but the Pacers were also aware Sunday night that the Cavs were going to bounce back and you can definitely feel good about it for the night," Haliburton said Sunday "But this is the best team in our conference We got to be prepared for that going into Game 2." The Cleveland Browns endured a difficult 2024 NFL season It saw them regress from being a playoff team the previous year to tying for the league's worst record They combined for a 71.4 passer rating and threw more interceptions (23) than touchdowns (19) that could help the Browns establish an identity on that side of the ball Will that be enough to get the Browns more than a few wins but their difficult-looking schedule could prevent Kevin Stefanski's squad from making a drastic improvement in season-to-season performance Here's Cleveland's full list of opponents for the 2025 season as the NFL's schedule release approaches BROWNS TICKETS: Buy tickets to 2025 Cleveland Browns games Here's the full list of Browns opponents for 2025: HomeBaltimore RavensBuffalo BillsCincinnati BengalsGreen Bay PackersMiami DolphinsMinnesota VikingsPittsburgh SteelersSan Francisco 49ersTennessee TitansRoadBaltimore RavensChicago BearsCincinnati BengalsDetroit LionsLas Vegas RaidersNew England PatriotsNew York JetsPittsburgh SteelersAs always the Browns are set to face their AFC North counterparts twice during the 2025 NFL season They will also play every team in the AFC East and NFC North as part of the NFL's yearly rotating schedule Cleveland's final three opponents – the 49ers Raiders and Titans – were determined based on the Browns' last-place finish in their division last season The NFL is set to reveal its 2025 schedule in full on Wednesday the NFL will reveal its entire 18-week slate of matchups and bye weeks for each team This year's schedule release will be held one day earlier than last year's The NFL announced the full 2024 schedule at 8 p.m so fans can expect a similar release time for this year's schedule playDamien Woody: The NFL sent Shedeur a message with draft slide (2:28)Dan Graziano and Damien Woody explain the reason why NFL teams passed on Shedeur Sanders until the fifth round Sanders has exchanged his flashy attire for a more casual outfit he wore a black leather jacket and large diamond pendant -- each carrying his signature logo a dollar sign with a superscript "2" -- in anticipation of hearing his name called in the first round during an extravagant watch party with family and friends back home in Canton Two days later and five rounds into the draft Sanders wears a black cutoff T-shirt as he stands in his backyard with family and a host of videographers With a football tucked in his left arm and a phone in his right hand I know it's been a long weekend," says Berry seated at a rectangle boardroom table and flanked by coach Kevin Stefanski and other team staffers in the Browns' dimly lit draft room "We're going to take you off the board here let's do it," Sanders responds with a smile as he paces around the backyard "Let's get ready to go to work and prove all the people who passed on you wrong," Berry says later before passing the phone to Stefanski The Browns had traded the Seattle Seahawks their 166th and 192nd picks to move up in the fifth round and select Sanders a record-setting quarterback at the University of Colorado and the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders marking the culmination of one of the most highly scrutinized draft cycles for a prospect in recent memory It began in January with Sanders projected as a possible top pick and ended with him as the sixth quarterback taken in what many analysts characterized as a weak class for the position questions remain about Sanders' unexpected fall The Browns spent extensive time with Sanders during the predraft process meeting him at the East-West Shrine Bowl and NFL scouting combine as well as hosting him on a top-30 visit and dining with him ahead of his pro day workout on April 4 their evaluation wasn't that of an elite prospect on their draft board and they determined he was not worth the No 2 pick they had held in the lead-up to Day 1 But as teams continued to pass on Sanders into Day 3 Cleveland decided to take a late-round flier on a prospect Berry believed provided too much value to pass up at that point Sanders became the Browns' seventh and final pick in the 2025 draft, and their second quarterback taken, following the selection of Dillon Gabriel -- a former Oregon Oklahoma and UCF standout -- with the 94th selection who is expected to be sidelined for a significant portion of the 2025 season because of an Achilles injury Stefanski said he will get an opportunity to compete to be QB1 for a franchise that used four different passers last season and has started a league-high 40 different quarterbacks since returning to Cleveland in 1999 "We felt like it got to a point where he was probably mispriced relative to the draft," Berry said Saturday and it's a guy that we think can outproduce his draft slot." Sanders was selected in the fifth round, two rounds after the Browns ended Day 2 by drafting former Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel. Dustin Bradford/Getty ImagesAS THE PREDRAFT process progressed, the chances of the Browns landing University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward widely regarded as the top quarterback prospect Berry said he was open to doing whatever maximized the value of the second pick which Cleveland held But as Berry sat at a roundtable surrounded by Cleveland-area reporters in Palm Beach the normally tight-lipped executive revealed that trading up was not a realistic outcome I wouldn't necessarily see that as likely," Berry said As Tennessee homed in on Ward in the final weeks leading up to the draft, the Browns were deep in trade discussions with the Jacksonville Jaguars on pivoting from the No Cleveland sent its pick to the Jaguars for a draft package that included the No The haul gave Cleveland two picks in the first round of the 2026 draft which is projected to have a stronger quarterback class With the No. 5 pick, the Browns selected former Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham a player Berry called "one of the premier linemen in this draft on either side of the ball." Sanders was again linked to Cleveland as a possible destination as the team held four Day 2 picks and two in the first four picks of the second round the Browns bypassed Sanders again and selected Gabriel at No A team source said the Browns believed many teams had a Day 2 grade on Sanders -- another team source described being surprised as Sanders fell into Day 3 -- but acknowledged potential high picks slide to later rounds every year The real shock for draft watchers came in the third round with the team's selection of Gabriel over Sanders a six-year player in college who was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year according to ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. but he was a player Berry and Stefanski said they coveted after several interactions with him during the draft cycle Cleveland's top decision-makers also traveled to Eugene for a private workout with Gabriel and got an up-close look at him during the Senior Bowl as multiple Cleveland coaches participated in the all-star event "We really felt strongly about Dillon throughout this process," Berry said Friday night that's not to say that we didn't meet with other quarterbacks that we thought were really talented players and good people We think he's an excellent player and felt like he was the most appropriate player to pick for both." play0:42Browns GM: We believe Shedeur Sanders will outproduce his draft slotBrowns general manager Andrew Berry explains why Cleveland selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round WHILE THE BROWNS held Gabriel in high regard the pick only further underscored Sanders' stunning drop -- and raised more questions about the reasons behind it maybe on behalf of the industry," Berry said last week when asked about Sanders "All I can say is this: The time that we spent with Shedeur and what he's done throughout his college career is impressive "Getting to know him over the course of the spring and I think he's going to find himself in a really good spot." That spot being Cleveland appeared unlikely after the Gabriel pick The way Sanders handled his predraft process, including interviews with teams, gained widespread attention, with reports surfacing that his interactions with certain teams did not go smoothly. Word had gotten out among some coaching and front office sources in the league that Sanders struggled with the New York Giants and possibly other teams during predraft visits and meetings Sanders accepted his invite to the East-West Shrine Bowl in late January but did not participate He declined to throw at the NFL scouting combine in February deciding to wait until his pro day workout in Boulder "I did expect him to have a better spring," an AFC area scout told ESPN Surprised but not shocked [Sanders fell to the fifth round]." one source from another team that was in the quarterback market had heard the Browns' process with Sanders went smoother than it did for others "We felt good with him as a person," Berry said Saturday and I know he'll come in here ready to work ready to try and put his best foot forward in all areas of competition." In a conference call with Cleveland-area reporters after the pick Sanders acknowledged he could have done some things differently during the predraft process When asked if he thought his interactions during team interviews played a role in dropping to Day 3 Sanders responded: "I think what happened was I had a great interview and great process with the Browns So anything outside the organization is really a nonfactor to me now because this is where my focus and this is where my mind is: Just doing everything I can to make the team better According to one person in the Browns' draft room there wasn't a spirited discussion Friday night or early Saturday about what to do with Sanders The team already had accounted for the player his ranking and everything that comes with drafting a prospect Berry told reporters the team had been targeting him if he continued to fall on Day 3 A source with knowledge of Browns' internal conversations said Berry "worked hard to trade up for him," beginning to make calls late in the fourth round "We felt like it wasn't necessarily the plan going into the weekend to select two quarterbacks," Berry told reporters Saturday and we didn't necessarily expect him to be available in the fifth round We love adding competition to every position room and adding him to compete with the guys that are already in there We felt like that was the appropriate thing to do." Berry was also asked about the role, if any, ownership had in the selection. He shut down any notion that owner Jimmy Haslam, who in the past had gained a reputation of being heavily involved in decisions who was seated behind Stefanski and looking onward as the room's response to selecting Sanders was captured by live cameras was a frequent attendee to pro days and visits with top prospects He was also part of a large contingent of team coaches execs and ownership who traveled to Colorado's pro day and had dinner with Sanders and Hunter ahead of their workout The team said ownership meeting with players was normal for prospects viewed as potential cornerstones By Tuesday, Shedeur Sanders had arrived in Ohio. Clips surfaced of him walking through a Browns-themed gym in downtown Cleveland and later running drills up a hill. On Wednesday, he surprised a group of student-athletes at John Marshall High School on the city's west side He answered questions from the students and later posed for photos and signed items Sanders spoke of wanting to be involved with the community in his new home His NFL career begins in earnest May 9 when the Browns hold a three-day rookie minicamp at their practice facility in Berea Despite all the continued speculation regarding Sanders' fall and eventual landing in Cleveland he'll soon get a chance to put his disappointing draft slide behind him with a franchise starved for a stable quarterback situation "What fuels me is my purpose in life and understanding the route that we're going to have to take," Sanders said "Understanding that I was able to get an opportunity when a lot of people didn't want to give me an opportunity ESPN's Jeremy Fowler contributed to this story The Browns are "aware and gathering more info" on the matter, a team spokesperson told ESPN The 26-year-old has a preliminary hearing slated for May 20 in Allegheny County was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019 he spent 2023 with the Seattle Seahawks before moving to the Browns in 2024 In March, he agreed to re-sign with Cleveland on a one-year one sack and three passes defended across 16 games played The content on this site is for entertainment and educational purposes only Betting and gambling content is intended for individuals 21+ and is based on individual commentators' opinions and not that of Sports Illustrated or its affiliates All picks and predictions are suggestions only and not a guarantee of success or profit If you or someone you know has a gambling problem crisis counseling and referral services can be accessed by calling 1-800-GAMBLER is accused of chasing his girlfriend and smashing her cell phone after she recorded him in an argument Bell Acres police officers were called out to the 100 block of Skymark Lane in Sewickley the woman had escaped with her daughter to a neighbor’s home The victim told police Bush had assaulted her and taken her car keys The complaint says she described being in an argument earlier Sunday with Bush She told officers the 26-year-old man had become aggressive police say the victim reported Bush chasing her throughout the home to take her phone ultimately pinning her against a massage table and then smashing the phone officers said the victim had injuries to her wrist and toe Her phone was located her phone in pieces inside Bush’s home He was arrested and booked on charges of simple assault and harassment There’s no word yet on when he’ll be arraigned 19 News has reached out to the Cleveland Browns for a statement The former Pittsburgh Steeler is starting his seventh season in the NFL who missed a solid chunk of last year due to injury Williams has not delivered on those expectations thus far allowing 30 hits while registering 28 strikeoouts over 28 innings of work The 25-year-old has also already allowed five home runs and that came after surrendering just 15 homers total across 158 frames in his first two big-league campaigns That is what James Mastrucci of Away Back Gone has chosen to focus on as a glaring concern for Williams who also lays claim to an ugly 1.571 WHIP on the year "The five home runs allowed up to this point are one-third of the total of his previous two seasons combined, and the fact it has come this rapidly does not bode well for when the weather starts to warm up, and the ball flies farther more consistently," Mastrucci wrote Williams is a former top prospect who has absolutely flashed great stuff in the past the right-hander pitched to the tune of a 3.29 ERA while giving up just 66 hits through 82 innings elbow inflammation caused Williams to miss the first three months of 2024 and he has never really recovered ever since Cleveland desperately needs Williams to find his groove if it wants to have any chance of making a deep playoff this season MORE: Cleveland Guardians React To Walk-Off Win Over Minnesota Twins MORE: Guardians Skipper Has Seen Critical Change In Surprise Slugger MORE: Cleveland Guardians Provide Medical Update On Shane Bieber MORE: Cleveland Guardians Complete Intriguing Trade With AL Opponent Share on FacebookShare on X (formerly Twitter)Share on PinterestShare on LinkedInCLEVELAND Ohio (WOIO) - Gregory Moore was secretly indicted on Friday for the murder and kidnapping of Aliza Sherman Moore was indicted on charges of aggravated murder MORE: Who is Gregory Moore? *Game highlights will appear as soon as possible following video processing The Indiana Pacers stunned the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 behind an all around dominant performance The Cavs now have their backs against the wall Grades are based on our usual expectations for each player There was an A+++ version of Mitchell in this game His huge third quarter put the Cavaliers back in front He was pushing the tempo and forcing his way to the rim every other possession It’s just the rest of the game that held him back He ended the opening quarter with consecutive three-point attempts that felt rushed and finished the game 1-11 from deep much of Cleveland’s offense in this game felt rushed Certainly a product of not having Darius Garland available A more patient approach from Mitchell would have been beneficial He’s capable of running an offense better than he did tonight His activity early on led to a few Indiana turnovers and Allen was effective when he caught the ball near the basket The Cavs' double-big lineup will be tested in this series in games where Indiana is burying shots at a near 60% rate from deep Allen is a versatile defender for his position but combining him with Mobley is leaving the Cavs behind Indiana’s offense Allen and Mobley both looked better when they were the lone big in Game 1 His three-point shot-making has so far burned opponents who dare him to shoot in the playoffs He finished 9-13 from the floor as Mobley worked his way into the paint for a few confident floaters Mobley’s status as Defensive Player of the Year was one of the catalysts for Cleveland’s comeback run His ability to anchor a defense paired perfectly with Dean Wade and De’Andre Hunter’s versatile perimeter coverage I’m hoping to see more of Mobley at the five in this series He was blocked on at least four floater attempts and his supreme confidence led to a handful of head-scratching three-point jumpers One in particular stood out — when he pulled up in transition for an unnecessary jumper that took the wind out of Cleveland’s sails I’ll give Jerome slight credit for converting a few shots that kept him in good graces for moments of the game But the Cavs very much missed Garland’s playmaking Jerome’s decision-making was totally off the mark as he repeatedly ran into a brick wall and was unable to deliver when the Cavs needed him most Jerome will be important for this series and I expect him to play better But this was a disastrous performance in Game 1 Merrill started in place of Garland again and outside of a bail-out three-pointer to start the game He held his own against Tyler Herro in Round One but is already being abused by Indiana’s motion offense This will be a tough series for Merrill to make himself impactful This game was begging for a Strus explosion His three-point shooting could have sparked a run if he had it going the Cavs finished 9-38 from deep for their worst three-point shooting game of the season He brings a level of intensity that you want in the playoffs His rebounding was big and he created good shots in the few opportunities he handled the ball Hunter’s pull-up three-pointer in the first quarter made it feel like this night would go differently he only attempted one more three-pointer the rest of the game Hunter was run off the line — and found success attacking the basket His overall scoring output just wasn’t enough to make a difference Indiana did a fine job keeping him contained on the perimeter Hunter’s defense was a huge plus in this game His versatiliy made him one of the most impactful defenders on the floor It would have been nice for Wade to make a shot But his defense was a legitimate game-changer Wade stifled Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam at various points scrambling to switch whenever one of Cleveland’s guards was stuck in a mismatch Wade was brilliant on defense and should be an X-Factor for this series Okoro looked good in this game when he was grabbing offensive rebounds or making simple drive and kick passes He was a glaring weakness whenever Indiana left him open in the corner Okoro has a clear place in the rotation if he can break even offensively He was one of the only players (alongside Mobley Wade and Hunter) who showed they could make a difference defensively in this game Okoro’s ability to contain the point-of-attack will be valuable.. if he can just hit a dang three-pointer while doing it including selecting tight end Harold Fannin Jr Fannin was the most prolific pass-catcher in the country this past season leading all of college football with 117 receptions for 1,555 yards at Bowling Green While Fannin is unquestionably a unique talent his addition puts the future of fellow tight end David Njoku in question considering that Njoku has just one year remaining on his contract Njoku seems like a natural trade candidate and Sterling Xie of Pro Football Network seems to agree tabbing him as the Browns' most expendable piece heading into 2025 Njoku has actually been a rather significant disappointment in Cleveland as his near decade-long tenure with the Browns has largely been marked by inconsistency as evidenced by the fact that he caught 64 passes for just 505 yards this past year good for a measly average of 7.9 yards per catch and with Njoku's deal expiring at the end of next season and Fannin potentially on the rise it seems like Njoku's exit is inevitable Cleveland may want to get ahead of that and attempt to trade the University of Miami product even if it will only be able to extract a Day 3 pick in return MORE: O-lineman has 38 career starts Cleveland brings back a key special teams player Collins will bring depth on the interior of the defensive line Tomlinson played two seasons with the Browns beginning in 2023 The biggest swing and miss was obviously the trade for Deshaun Watson on March 18, 2022. Giving three first-round picks to the Houston Texans for Watson and subsequently signing Watson to a five-year fully guaranteed contract has become one of the worst deals in sports history because Watson has been an epic disaster both on and off the field That Watson deal will hamstring the Browns for at least the next two years but the idea is still to put a competitive team on the field They did so in 2023 despite the quarterback questions with one of NFL's best defense; plummeting from 11-6 to 3-14 last season was more about defensive injuries than anything happening to a quarterback room where the bar was already underground.  because nobody would shut up about Sanders' fall from alleged first-round talent to fifth-round reality for whatever reason But when you look at the schematic preferences shown by head coach and offensive shot-caller Kevin Stefanski it's really the other way around.  before Stefanski switched up the passing game to align with what he thought would make things easier and better for Watson The 2024 Browns with offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey were more simplistic in their concepts and personnel groupings but if you revert to the years before that Stefanski wants a passing in which two- and three-tight ends sets are the order of the day and quarterbacks are on the move in designed concepts Even with Flacco as the post-Watson starter in 2023 Flacco threw from outside the pocket 35 times on 38 dropbacks Stefanski was going to get his quarterback on the move no matter what even with a quarterback to whom "sneaky athletic" would be an overestimation when you review what Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry had to say about both Gabriel and Sanders after they were drafted and though both men insisted that team owner Jimmy Haslam did not interfere with the Sanders addition as he has quite often in the past with horrible results (the Watson deal and selecting Johnny Manziel with the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 draft).. "We really felt strongly about Dillon throughout this process," Stefanski said that’s not to say that we didn’t meet with other quarterbacks that we thought were really talented players and good people We think he’s an excellent player and felt like he was the most appropriate player to pick for both.” When asked about Gabriel's height as an issue — Gabriel measured 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds at the scouting combine — Stefanski had a ready answer for that which tells you that the Browns had already audited the issue.  “It’s a good question," Stefanski said there’s guys that have come before Dillon There are guys that will come after him that don’t have the But hasn’t held him back in his career he’s been that height for a long time to players based on how they’ve kind of played the game their whole life.” A lot of shorter quarterbacks avoid throwing to the middle of the field simply because they can't see over the behemoths in front of them the best adaptive strategy is to get outside the pocket and force throwing lanes Gabriel had no issues with that last season When throwing outside the pocket to areas of the field charted as left or right middle or middle Gabriel completed 29 of 39 passes for 432 yards These were the statements of an organization that got a quarterback they believed in Berry was asked at the end of Day 2 what he thought about Sanders still being on the board.  I think it’s unfair for me to comment.. maybe on behalf of the industry," he said the time that we spent with Shedeur and what he’s done throughout his college career is impressive it’s less about where you get picked That’s really the most important thing Getting to know him over the course of the spring and I think he’s going to find himself in a really good spot.” and the Browns had already selected the quarterback they thought brought the best team/player fit “I just say the biggest thing for us solid prospect at the most important position We felt like it got to a point where he was probably mispriced relative to the draft and it’s a guy that we think can outproduce his draft slot I wouldn’t say it’s any more than that Shedeur has kind of grown up in the spotlight but our expectation is for him to come in here and work and compete I may hesitate to characterize it as a blockbuster That’s not necessarily how we thought of the transaction but we are excited to work with him.” One thing Berry said put a different cast on the whole thing.  "I can’t really speak on what other people think We view him as a highly accurate pocket passer He does a really good job of protecting the ball He has enough of the physical characteristics whether it’s arm strength or mobility I think probably much has been said about the number of sacks he’s taken Some of that is environment and some of that is improvement on his end But he has probably a little bit more of a I can’t speak to how others view him.” If it sounds as if the Browns had evaluated Gabriel more specifically and Sanders more generally Perhaps they got the man they wanted in Gabriel and Sanders in the fifth round was a flyer pick just too good to pass up And who knows what happens when everyone gets on the field?  What we do know is that while Sanders did throw outside the pocket a lot it was far less by design and far more out of desperation when the Buffaloes' offensive line performed its usual implosion What we also know is that while Sanders tends to drift in the pocket to his own detriment when under pressure Gabriel is generally more adept at redefining his launch point to re-set and make the accurate downfield throw.  This is not to say that Shedeur Sanders is utterly miscast in the Browns' offense But when you look at what this particular coaching staff has preferred schematically when the Deshaun Watson albatross wasn't hanging around their necks it's also clear that Dillon Gabriel is the better fit Which explains the Browns' more detailed answers about Gabriel's place in that offense and how things might organically develop in the end.  NFL free agency is almost over so what moves didn’t the Browns make With rookie minicamp opening for the Cleveland Browns later this week the NFL offseason is all but over when it comes to major moves At least until we get to training camp or there is a major injury around the league The Browns offseason hasn’t been full of moves, but there have been a few big ones around the NFL draft. A quiet NFL free agency was unusual for GM Andrew Berry but a few veterans were brought in to stabilize things This weekend, we asked you what the best move Cleveland made this offseason we look at three realistic but major moves the Browns could have made but did not: After signing five-year extensions during training camp last year, many thought Berry and Stefanski should be on the chopping block after a three-win season. Instead, it seems that Jimmy Haslam has given the pair a restart in 2025 Whether keeping both was a good or bad move will be clear by the end of the 2026 season As the Browns are uncertain who will be starting at quarterback in 2025, the Las Vegas Raiders answered their most important position by sending just a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks for Smith while Cleveland signed veteran Joe Flacco and traded for Kenny Pickett he’s better and more consistent than the five quarterbacks on the Browns roster Trading down in exchange for three premium draft selections might turn out to be a good move for the team, but Hunter is a unicorn. The Jacksonville Jaguars gave up a huge haul to move up three spots and have a better quarterback in Trevor Lawrence Hunter’s success or lack of with the Jags doesn’t mean he’d have performed the same in Cleveland but fans and media will be watching and taking notes The Browns couldn’t have known how things would play out but they ended up passing on a chance to reunite Shedeur Sanders and Hunter in the NFL Quinshon Judkins and the 2026 first-round pick acquired for Hunter will need to make big impacts for passing on Hunter to be worth it Which of the above moves should the Browns have made Is there another move that was made (non-free agency because players have power to decide where they go) that Cleveland should have made Join the comment section below after voting in the poll If you’ve never signed up for an account with us, which you will need to comment, you can do so here then come back and share your Browns offseason thoughts Get the best experience and stay connected to your community with our Spectrum News app. Learn More Get hyperlocal forecasts, radar and weather alerts. The artwork includes eight different designs using unique patterns, colors and animals.  The reason the Greater Cleveland RTA picked Payne Avenue is because it said the area has the largest concentration of AAPI residents in Cleveland, and it's commonly known as Cleveland's AsiaTown neighborhood.   “GCRTA honors and uplifts the vibrant culture and contributions of our Asian American & Pacific Islander community in the greater Cleveland area,” said Deputy General Manager Administration & External Affairs Natoya Walker Minor. in a release. “As a public agency, we know and believe public transit benefits everyone.”  Here's the list of bus stops where the public can see the special signs along the No. 9 Mayfield-Hough route: N3smith and N3mbhard were crucial tonight, but the man that makes it all work is Tyrese Haliburton a.k.a. Last month, owner Jimmy Haslam called the team's 2022 trade for quarterback Deshaun Watson which cost Cleveland three first-rounders and a fully-guaranteed $230 million contract a "big swing-and-miss." It marked the first time anyone within the organization publicly acknowledged that the trade failed despite three seasons of evidence on the field Watson has been one of the league's worst quarterbacks since arriving in Cleveland and is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2025 season with a right Achilles injury that ended his 2024 campaign and which he re-tore in the offseason Browns reporter Daniel Oyefusi answers the biggest questions surrounding the team's decision to take a second quarterback in the draft NFL insider Jeremy Fowler shares league intel on what led to the slide and draft analyst Steve Muench breaks down Sanders' playing style The Browns selected Sanders a day after drafting Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in Round 3. AP Photo/David ZalubowskiWhy did the Browns select Sanders after drafting Gabriel?Picking Gabriel over Sanders in the third round was a widespread surprise but the Browns trading up to take Sanders two rounds later usurped that it came down to maximizing value with a pick at the game's most important position Berry on Saturday acknowledged that he didn't enter the draft expecting to take two quarterbacks but was flexible as it unfolded he had discussions with his staff about the possibility of targeting Sanders if he continued to fall in the draft After teams selected multiple players whom the Browns were interested in Berry said he ultimately decided there was too much value in selecting Sanders to pass up "Once it got to a point where it felt like it was a pretty steep discount especially relative to the alternative ways that we could use this selection there was a scarcity of teams in need of a passer That the fifth round for him is a bit ridiculous While many evaluators graded him as a Day 2 pick I've talked to multiple personnel evaluators I trust who graded him as a late first-rounder That's why they consider the Browns a good spot; they were a team without an unquestioned starter One challenge for Sanders: The Browns drafted Gabriel two rounds ahead of him This all proves the thin margins in the predraft process In what's considered a weaker quarterback class Quarterbacks can slip further than other positions due to the importance of fit and fewer job opportunities Couple that with a shaky predraft process and that can cost a talented passer like Sanders Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said that anyone who is added to the quarterback room will be expected to compete for starting time Sanders enters a four-man race with an experienced veteran in Flacco a former first-round pick in Pickett and another rookie adjusting to the pros in Gabriel After a failed attempt last season to revamp the offense to better fit Watson the Browns fired offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey and promoted tight ends coach/passing game specialist Tommy Rees to fill the vacancy the team is rebuilding its scheme with a quartet of new passers although Flacco has familiarity with Stefanski from his stint late in the 2023 season when he went 4-1 as a starter in the regular season and helped guide Cleveland back to the playoffs en route to Comeback Player of the Year honors "Obviously you may not divide [the practice reps] '25 25,' but we feel really confident that we'll have a plan that is fair to each player and fair to the team as well," Stefanski said The Browns have said Watson's health status makes his future uncertain There are two more years remaining on his five-year contract and the Browns owe him $46 million in each of the next two seasons the team has been operating as if he will not be available for the 2025 season and its recent moves highlight an attempt to move on at the quarterback position If the Browns parted ways with Watson after the 2026 season eight different quarterbacks have started for the Browns Berry and Stefanski were given extensions last offseason for guiding Cleveland to the playoffs twice in four years and Haslam preached confidence in them despite a 3-14 finish last season He also took blame for the Watson transaction and said he wouldn't put pressure on his decision-making tandem to force a quarterback pick But now they have two young quarterbacks who could possibly find the franchise an answer at the position Haslam has asked for patience but said he expects the team to compete in 2025 Gabriel and Sanders both fit the mold and can compete MIA (8)Cavaliers win by 55 points to sweep Heat and finish off most lopsided series in NBA playoff historyCleveland posts 4th-largest playoff margin of victory in Game 4 capping a record Will Kristaps Porzingis be back for Game 2 He played just 13 minutes and didn't play at all in the second half with an illness This come-from-behind win should give the Knicks confidence who now know they can definitively beat the Celtics after having gone winless against them during the regular season Game 1: Pacers 121, Cavaliers 112 What we learned: Indiana threw the first punch and stole home-court advantage in the series after outscoring Cleveland 29-22 in the fourth quarter The Pacers entered as the underdogs in this series against the top-seeded Cavs but it was Indiana that raced out to a first-quarter advantage and dictated the flow of the game while handing Cleveland its first loss of the playoffs The Pacers made 19 3-pointers, the second most in a playoff game in franchise history, and had six players finish with double figures in scoring. Pacers All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton finished with 22 points 3 blocks and a steal while Indiana shot 7 for 12 from 3 (58%) on his passes Game 2: Pacers at Cavaliers (Tuesday, 7 p.m. ET, TNT) What to watch: Darius Garland's status is very important in this series. Cleveland got away with being less than 100% in the first round against the Miami Heat but it was evident from the opening quarter Sunday that the Pacers are a level up in competition Indiana consistently generated open shots and knocked them down. The Cavaliers will need Garland, who has missed the past three playoff games because of a sprained big toe, to provide some offensive help to Donovan Mitchell CLEVELAND (AP) — Ohio authorities said they’ve solved the more than decade-old fatal stabbing of a Cleveland Clinic nurse announcing recent murder charges against her former divorce attorney who already served jail time for lying to police during the investigation Friday’s arrest of 51-year-old Gregory J Moore marks the latest twist in a cold case that has eluded Ohio authorities since 2013 Aliza Sherman was stabbed more than 10 times her body found on a downtown Cleveland sidewalk near where she was set to meet Moore to discuss her divorce “The Sherman family has waited over a decade for answers regarding their mother’s homicide,” said Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley in a statement Friday “Through the tenacious work of multiple law enforcement agencies evidence was accumulated that paints the unmistakable picture that Gregory Moore orchestrated and participated in the brutal murder of Aliza Sherman.” he pleaded guilty to falsification for statements he made to police about his whereabouts during Sherman’s killing He also admitted to calling in bomb threats in 2012 as a way to delay trials His law license was suspended in 2017 and he resigned it the following year he said that he regretted his past actions Moore allegedly planned to kidnap Sherman as a delay tactic for her upcoming divorce trial The unsealed documents include messages between Moore and Sherman showing how he called her to the office She arrived and waited over an hour before deciding to return to her car an individual who was either Moore or an unknown co-conspirator approached Sherman … circled behind her chased her … and then stabbed her over 10 times,” the indictment reads Moore swiped into the office later that evening and messaged Sherman to mislead investigators Moore did not respond to an email message Sunday A defense attorney who previously represented Moore did not respond to a phone message Sunday Moore was expected to be arraigned at a later date according to prosecutors who said teamwork with the FBI led to the arrest The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation took over the cold case in 2021 was a mother of four and has been remembered as a beloved fertility nurse Rallies and vigils to honor her memory have been held on the anniversary of her death thanked authorities “for their unwavering dedication in seeking justice for Aliza,” according to a Sunday statement issued through her attorney “This is an exceptionally difficult time for the family and we kindly request privacy during this period.” didn’t immediately return a message Sunday “The best word to sum up my feelings at this point would be bittersweet — glad they got the person SUBMIT A CORRECTION We hope you appreciated this story.  A small team of local journalists runs EastIdahoNews.com – not a big business or corporation Our stories are produced to inform and serve the public We don't have a paywall or require a subscription to use EastIdahoNews.com but there is a cost associated with bringing you stories every day Please consider supporting us just once for $1 or contribute a little more monthly or annually We sincerely appreciate your consideration © 2015 - 2025 EastIdahoNews.com LLC '#' : location.hash;window._cf_chl_opt.cOgUQuery = location.search === '' && location.href.slice(0 location.href.length - window._cf_chl_opt.cOgUHash.length).indexOf('?') !== -1 '?' : location.search;if (window.history && window.history.replaceState) {var ogU = location.pathname + window._cf_chl_opt.cOgUQuery + window._cf_chl_opt.cOgUHash;history.replaceState(null "\/liveblog_entry\/divorce-lawyer-for-aliza-sherman-murdered-in-cleveland-in-2013-arrested-over-her-killing\/?__cf_chl_rt_tk=0hZ76BwiuRYD0MrimU7HM2NhMoOO9yOJT1ejVNKfCuM-1746499003-1.0.1.1-h8pwO49qe2N55jAkADrUU0X.5T5d7JG4UTm7HtqEDmg" + window._cf_chl_opt.cOgUHash);cpo.onload = function() {history.replaceState(null ogU);}}document.getElementsByTagName('head')[0].appendChild(cpo);}()); On Twitter: @ByNateUlrich So how much will Sanders' rookie contract be worth The former Colorado standout made his way to Cleveland without inking a deal with the Browns the projected value over four years is much less than what he made as a senior in Boulder.  he'll bring in roughly $4.6 million over four years which is a little over $1 million per year contracts can be renegotiated depending on performance With Sanders working around a stacked QB room in Cleveland we'll see if that happens in the future any signing bonus is discretionary for the Browns but he'll likely receive a sum close to $2-3 million.     Barring a contract extension or any other unforeseen circumstances Sanders will become an unrestricted free agent in 2029 Sanders' rookie contract doesn't compare to the money he made from name The Pacers utilized their five-out offense to give the Cavs defense fits and despite strong games by Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley Indiana took a 1-0 series lead with a balanced attack The Cavs were again without Darius Garland who missed his third consecutive playoff game with a big toe sprain Here are instant reactions from Beacon Journal writers Ryan Lewis and Nate Ulrich after Cavs-Pacers Game 1 Cavs vs Pacers Game 1: Ryan Lewis' instant reactionThe Cavs will have to find a way to disrupt the Pacers' offensive system because it just about worked to perfection in Game 1 Eight Pacers players scored at least seven points That's the five-out offense in textbook fashion and it clearly left the Cavs defense scrambling to pick up the final pass Will Indiana be able to sustain its 3-point shooting rate for the entire series but if it keeps ending possessions with such open looks Donovan Mitchell gave it everything and then some to the point of looking gassed in the third quarter The main takeaway from Game 1 is there wasn't much Cleveland did to push the Pacers off their intended course on the offensive end and that will have to change for the Cavs to have enough firepower to beat the five-out Cavs vs Pacers Game 1: Nate Ulrich's instant reactionThrough three quarters the Cavs were ice cold from 3-point range (7 of 29 for 24.1%) and the Pacers were on fire from deep (15 of 27 for 55.6%) the Cavs only trailed the Pacers 92-90 entering the fourth quarter largely because of All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell relentlessly attacking the basket and scoring 12 points to lead a Cleveland rally in the third quarter the momentum didn't last long enough for the Cavs The Pacers remained scorching from 3-point range in the fourth quarter They finished the game 19-of-36 shooting from beyond the arc (52.8%) The Cavs had trouble with the Pacers' elite transition offense for most of the game but Indiana shooting lights out didn't help Cleveland's cause Two Pacers — guard Andrew Nembhard and forward Aaron Nesmith — combined to go 9-of-12 shooting on 3s the Game 1 loss may be the least of their problems With three of the team's key players banged up the Cavaliers' margin for error has shrunk significantly Cleveland's 64-18 record in the regular season was the second-best in the NBA behind Oklahoma City and the second-best in team history but if the Cavaliers lose Tuesday and have to head to Indiana in a 2-0 hole Despite failing to stop the Pacers in Game 1 Center Jarrett Allen said Monday that the team needs to match Indiana's physicality moving forward "The best part about the playoffs is that you get to draw the line yourself," Allen said. "The playoffs are physical I don't think we drew that line yet." The Cavaliers are talented enough to bounce back and beat Indiana in Game 2 the battle to even the series will become much more of an uphill climb The Pacers will now look to move up 2-0 in the series The Cavaliers could be without their All-Star forward Mobley is listed as questionable ahead of Tuesday's Game 2 Evan Mobley (ankle) questionable for Tuesday The one-time All-Star landed on the injury report due to an ankle issue Not only could the Cavaliers be without their star big man but two of their key players are also on the injury report: guard Darius Garland and forward De'Andre Hunter Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson expressed genuine concern that they could miss Game 2 Kenny Atkinson express real concern for the availability of Evan Mobley (ankle) and DeAndre Hunter (dislocated shooting thumb) tomorrow’s game 2 @NBAonTNT Mobley was solid in Game 1 as he did all he could to lead the Cavaliers to a 1-0 lead He recorded 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field Hunter suffered a wrist injury in the third quarter of Game 1 He briefly exited the contest but ultimately finished the game Hunter recorded 11 points off the bench in 30 minutes of action is in danger of missing his fourth consecutive playoff game He missed Game 1 due to a sprained big toe The 25-year-old All-Star has only played in two games thus far and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting an efficient 51.6 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc Garland played 75 games and delivered steady production: 20.6 points and the Pacers will look to take advantage of every single angle they can All five of their starting five recorded double-digit points who scored 23 big points on an impressive 7-of-10 shooting from the field the Pacers enter Game 2 as massive road underdogs More Pacers: Pacers' Rick Carlisle Offers One-Word to Describe Cavaliers Gregg Popovich Had Surprising Impact on Career of Pacers' Rick Carlisle Breaking Down Potential Pacers, Cavaliers Matchup For more news and notes on the Indiana Pacers, visit Indiana Pacers on SI RICARDO KLEIN Less than 24 hours after the Indiana Pacers blitzed that Cavs in a 121-112 win to take a 1-0 lead in the two foes conference semifinal matchup head coach Kenny Atkinson shared some ominous injury news regarding several key Cavaliers players versatile wing De'Andre Hunter suffered a dislocated thumb on his shooting hand after taking a hard spill in the fourth quarter when he went up for a transition dunk The play was highly scrutinized at the moment as the officials ruled that Benedict Mathurin blocked Hunter's shot at the rim ignoring the fact that his body also made contact with Hunter sending him barreling to the floor and ultimately clutching at his right hand While Atkinson made sure to express that he didn't think the Pacers were deliberately playing dirty in Game 1 he did take acceptation with the way the game was officiated especially in regards to the play that has now has Hunter entering Game 2 listed as questionable "Upmost respect for Indiana and Rick [Carlisle] and how they coach and I don't think they were dirty plays but I think it passed the line of physicality That line we've kind of been been talking about 1 was the non-call on De'Andre's layup Everyone in the world just look at that play and they reviewed it I felt like he got absolutely obliterated and dislocated his thumb." Star forward Evan Mobley will also enter Tuesday as questionable after coming up lame on a late fourth-quarter hook shot where he landed on Pacers' big man Myles Turner's foot and rolled his ankle Mobley was seen limping around the locker room after the game Cavs HC Kenny Atkinson: There were 2 plays in that game that crossed the line of physicality. No he dislocated his thumb and will be questionable Evan Mobley will also be questionable with an ankle injury Atkinson was equally as critical of the officiating on that play which happened just seconds before Hunter's spill Turner violated the NBA's landing rule foul which prohibits defenders from stepping into a shooters landing zone on shot attempts clearly under him and shooters need space to land," Atkinson explained "And is pushed off balance in our opinion and tweaks his ankle pretty bad." even after the hard block on Hunter was reviewed It wouldn't have changed much for the Cavaliers who now enter Tuesday with uncertainty over whether or not two key players will be available Atkinson did try to soften his criticism of the officiating expressing his respect for the Pacers and noting that he rarely criticizes NBA refs that's on the referees," Atkinson said "Maybe they're miscalls or maybe I'm misinterpreting the rules But I've got a problem when we've got two of our best players doubtful for tomorrow's game It's hard for me to get my head around that." Atkinson's use of the word "doubtful" added some additional concern to the situation questionable and doubtful exist in a similar bucket they're two very different designations If Mobley and Hunter are truly just questionable there is a good chance they'll be able to suit up and play through their respective ailments it would signal that neither player is likely to play Atkinson's final comments on the matter was calling it a "real concern." What that officially means remains to be seen The Cavaliers have until 5:30 on Monday to release their Game 2 injury report Ohio (WOIO) - Aliza Sherman was stabbed to death outside of her divorce attorney’s office in 2013 19 News is looking into who Sherman was and what led to her tragic murder Eliza Sherman was a beloved fertility nurse at the Cleveland Clinic Sherman started at a Beachwood branch of the Cleveland Clinic in 2003 where she worked in the IVF surgical department Sherman moved to the main branch of the Cleveland Clinic in September 2006 Sherman got her degree in nursing from Cleveland State University In 2023, Sherman’s daughter Jennifer Sherman started the Aliza Sherman Fund through the Cleveland Clinic The fund goes to Cleveland Clinic patients and caregivers who have experienced violence “The money will also be allocated to introduce programs aimed at prevention and raising awareness,” the website said Aliza Sherman was 53 when she died and she had four children Her children were between the ages of 17 and 29 at the time of their mother’s death She deserves for us to be here today,” said Sherman’s daughter Aliza Sherman was in the middle of a messy divorce at the time of her murder in 2013 Aliza and Sanford were estranged at the time of her death Sanford Sherman was never named a suspect or charged in connection with Aliza’s death Cuyahoga County Prosecutors confirmed to 19 News on Friday Sanford is not suspected of being a co-conspirator in Aliza’s murder Sherman passed away just a few days before the 4th of July holiday in 2024 19 Investigates has reported Cleveland Police never interviewed Sanford Sherman 19 News reached out to Sanford Sherman for a comment several times while he was living Aliza was two days away from her divorce trial on the day of her death Gregory Moore or an “unidentified” co-conspirator stabbed Sherman 11 times on March 24 Who is Gregory Moore? When both teams' starters are in, Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner can at least battle on the boards, but neither are high-volume or even plus rebounders for their positions. Obi Toppin, the only other big whom Indiana is playing right now, isn't any better in that regard. Two years after the New York Knicks bullied the Cavs on the interior in the first round and one year after the Boston Celtics did that to them in the second round, the Cavs are about to return the favor against the Pacers. but that doesn't mean the Pacers defense can't contain Cleveland's high-octane attack (at least better than Miami did) but he's the only clear defensive weak link among Indiana's starters starting center Myles Turner averaged 2.0 blocks per game during the regular season With Nembhard and Nesmith frustrating Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland on the perimeter Turner cleaning up their occasional mistakes and Siakam filling in the gaps Indiana should put together a respectable defensive effort Megan Briggs/Getty ImagesDonovan Mitchell could be in for another high-scoring series.Indiana's defense won't do quite enough to stop Cleveland Donovan Mitchell is going to have at least one vintage night with 40-plus points He already has five such performances in the playoffs which ties him for 26th place in NBA history After averaging 23.8 points in only 31.0 minutes per game against Miami in the first round Even with the Pacers having Nembhard and Nesmith to throw at him Mitchell will go nuclear at some point in this series those two have to pay attention to Garland and Jerome as well While one explosive-scoring night won't necessarily decide the matchup it's not hard to imagine the Cavs winning this in six when combined with all of the little advantages they have over the Pacers It wasn't necessarily the plan to add two quarterbacks according to Cleveland General Manager Andrew Berry but now the Browns have one of the most interesting storylines to follow How will it all shake out and where does the position stand as of now The Browns ranked Gabriel ahead of Sanders on their draft board also on their depth chart as the quarterback competition begins in offseason workouts per a report from Cleveland insider Mary Kay Cabot Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel leaves the field after the win over Illinois at Autzen Stadium in Eugene Saturday / Chris Pietsch/The Register-Guard / USA TODAY NETWORK / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn ImagesGabriel's experience NFL combine interviews and ability to take care of the ball are a few of the reasons the Browns felt it was a no-brainer to draft Gabriel over Sanders in the third round Gabriel's spot on the depth chart is notable as snaps will come at a premium for the Browns' crowded quarterback position Gabriel has a chance to wow during this offseason as Cleveland would like to have a starting quarterback named by the beginning of training camp in late summer Gabriel and Sanders will compete with 40-year-old veteran Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett for the starting job Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson could miss all of next season with an Achilles injury Good news for Cleveland fans who suffered through a 3-14 season in 2024 "I learned how to become a winner," Gabriel said after getting drafted to Cleveland. "It's a habit and you've got to do it every single day excited to bring that and excited to continue to grow and learn because naturally I'm eager to learn and know that I don't know everything and what I'm walking into I have a great clue and probably have the most experience of anyone that can be walking into what the NFL is." One of the deciding factors for Cleveland to pass on Sanders until the fifth round was his negative plays Sanders threw 10 interceptions in 2024 and was sacked 94 times in two years at Colorado why draft Sanders in the fifth round after already adding Gabriel MORE: Dallas Cowboys Wide Receiver Traeshon Holden 'Hurt' After Going Undrafted MORE: 5-Star Quarterback Jared Curtis To Commit To Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs? The 5-11, 205-pound quarterback Gabriel silenced Oregon to a 13-1 overall record and a Big Ten Conference title in 2024.
