General Hospital sure upped the action quotient this week
Between Nina and Portia drugging Drew and Brook Lynn dropping the bomb on Granny that she had a baby in high school
Nina’s latest scheme backfired on her in record time
everyone in Port Charles will know Brook Lynn’s baby secret except for Dante
Let’s discuss what happened on the ABC soap this week
General Hospital didn’t give Drew and Willow haters much time to celebrate their demise
as it only took him seconds to realize he had to have been drugged and have Willow immediately gave him the benefit of the doubt
you could have made them both suffer just a little longer
Portia should have known not to use ketamine to spike Drew’s drink
as it would have shown up in his blood tests
and she should have also known what drugs to use
But I did get a few chuckles from some of the jokes dropped about the drug
such as Brad saying he had no idea Portia rolled that way when she asked him for ketamine
Then there was Mac telling Drew that ketamine is a party drug and asking if he was sure he didn’t take too much of it
A detective like Mac thinking Special K is something Drew would be down with just goes to show how far Drew’s sunk as a person
thanks to Tracy being with Drew when Jacinda drugged his drink
this likely will come back to bite Nina in the butt
Here is hoping that the truth about scummy Drew comes out at the Nurses Ball
leaving Willow crushed and devastated for more than 15 seconds
More: Susan Lucci has a big announcement!
Brook Lynn telling Tracy about her baby — well
everything except that Dante is the father — and throwing Lulu under the bus to Granny was not something I expected
I also loved that Tracy was moved to tears as Brook Lynn explained what had happened to her
Give Jane Elliot a Daytime Emmy for that scene alone
give her the Emmy for being the show’s saving grace most of the time lately
we can probably expect the ball to get rolling in exposing Gio as Dante and Brook Lynn’s son
This storyline has gone on for far too long and needs to end
I’ve said before that I could see Gio turning on Lois and even Brook Lynn because he already had a mother he loved
Tracy’s relationship with Gio will likely be key in repairing the destruction that will unfold when this secret is finally revealed
Last week, I vented about Lulu and her adoption story, and how she could have chosen any other topic to write about
but chose to pitch that one on purpose and hoped it would be selected
It was nice to see Lulu admit it and Laura tell her daughter that
should she reveal a secret that is not hers
for calling out your daughter’s behavior lately
Laura telling Lulu exactly what Brook Lynn has over and over finally got through to Lulu
Laura talking about her own switched-at-birth scenario was also a great way to pull Laura’s history into this storyline
More: Get a sneak peek at the Nurses Ball!
but I still see Emma getting dragged into the WSB
and Emma getting expelled from Berkeley for what she found in their labs
Joss stealing Emma’s work for Dalton was a downright dirty move
it seems easy enough for Emma to prove Joss stole her model
as she created it and can explain it in ways Joss likely never could
so I don’t think she has what it takes to be a scientific genius and come up with what Emma did
Anna shooting down Dalton at The Savoy was hilarious
Just because you both have accents doesn’t mean you should date
More: Celebrating soaps’ asian characters and actors
Kai’s surgery and Josh the Documentarian… Boring
The minute Rocco and Danny showed up at the college beach party
it was obvious that this was going to turn into an underage drinking storyline
Maybe it can be Lulu’s next big story for the Llanview Banner
why is she writing for another town’s paper
Couldn’t she have gotten a job at The Invader
Way to drop the ball with Alexis and the commitment papers
Alexis failed to give Kristina and Molly satisfactory answers for why she had them drawn up
and the story disappeared for the rest of the week
as I’m sure some fans didn’t mind the vacation from the Davis sisters
Finally, Mike’s visit while Sonny was under was another excellent surprise this week. But does anyone really think Sonny will get out of the Mob?

wants to see the major political parties do more for older Australians
Welcome to Australia’s housing crisisThe 63-year-old
The 63-year-old has been living in her Queensland rental for five years and, despite her landlords knowing she has just been diagnosed with cancer, they have told her to go.
“A few weeks ago they gave me basically a month’s notice to leave because they said they think they’ll have a better chance of selling the place if it’s vacant,” Adams says.
I have to be out of here by the 14th of May
which is also the first week I start chemo and radiation
At the moment I am trying to sell everything I own.”
a peak charity representing Australians aged over 50
is calling on major parties to commit to more affordable housing for elderly renters – particularly women
who are disproportionately experiencing homelessness
Advocates warn the number of elderly women living in poverty will keep rising dramatically unless the federal government helps more
She has a PhD and trained as an environmental scientist
she split from her partner and became a single parent to a child with high needs

“I’ve mostly been only able to work part-time
Adams is on the disability support pension and works one day a week
She has $30,000 in super – but both these factors mean she has been rejected from social housing
[with them] saying I’m not disabled enough because their waitlists are so big,” she says
She pays $300 a week in rent – 60% of her income

“I’ve noticed that the people who are homeless
they do a hell of a lot better than the ones who are just in an ordinary car or in a tent,” she says
Last year research from the University of New South Wales found a strong spike in families
people in work and older women presenting at homelessness services
“Our recent analysis confirms that homelessness involving older women is
rising much faster than homelessness across the wider population,” says Prof Hal Pawson
Of the 280,000 clients that specialist homelessness services agencies helped in 2023–24
15,600 (9.3%) were women aged 55 or older – slightly more than the 13,900 men the same age

telling you what’s happening and why it matters
while they continue to represent a relatively small proportion of all homeless people
the risk of homelessness is rising faster for older Australians
“That may be partly due to falling home ownership rates among people entering retirement – a trend which is only just beginning
but is expected to continue over coming decades.”
Fiona York, the executive officer of Housing for the Aged Action Group
are the result of “lifetime systemic inequality”
women who have been in and out of the workforce due to family responsibilities
“Women couldn’t get a home loan without a man to countersign until the 80s
“It’s all of those bigger picture issues that mean that when it comes to them being in their 70s and 80s
they’re all of a sudden showing up in these statistics.”
is disappointed the major parties have rarely addressed the rental crisis during this election campaign
we haven’t seen much action for renters,” she says
“Over one in five older Australians are renting
and for those renting on a fixed income like the pension
the soaring cost of rent is pushing them into poverty.”
The federal government needs to create more affordable housing tailored to different cohorts’ needs and to increase rent assistance by 60%
Adams is standing on the edge of the housing precipice and she knows she is not the only one
“People tend to think that you get into homelessness because we’ve got addiction problems or major mental health problems
and that’s just not the case for most older women.”
She wants to see the government change tax settings that encourage house prices to increase
including negative gearing and cuts to capital gains tax
which according to the Australia Institute cost the budget about $20bn a year
more than twice the $8.4bn state and territory governments spent on public and community housing in 2022-23
“That money needs to all go into the building [of homes],” she says

The original cast recording of Hamilton, the score of the videogame Minecraft and a milestone 1970 album by Miles Davis are among the 25 latest additions to the National Recording Registry
Created in 2000 by the Library of Congress to help bring attention to its preservation efforts
Other additions this year include albums by popular artists such as Elton John
as well as a historic 1960 World Series broadcast
a recording from insult comedy legend Don Rickles
songs from Japanese American workers who processed sugar cane leaves on Hawaiian plantations
and popular singles in genres spanning folk
Another notable inclusion? The Microsoft Windows reboot chime from 1995. Composed by Brian Eno
the chime was almost twice as long as what Microsoft designers had originally envisioned
hopefulness and progress" they wanted to convey to inexperienced computer users booting up Windows 95
"These are the sounds of America – our wide-ranging history and culture. The National Recording Registry is our evolving nation's playlist," said Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden in a statement
"The Library of Congress is proud and honored to select these audio treasures worthy of preservation
including iconic music across a variety of genres
sports history and even the sounds of our daily lives with technology."
The oldest recording on this year's list is from 1913
"Aloha 'Oe" was composed by Princess Lili'uokalani (who later became Queen of Hawai'i)
The song had been beloved in Hawai'i for decades before being set to wax by the Hawaiian Quintette
The newest recording is 2015's Broadway cast album of Hamilton
Creator Lin-Manuel Miranda noted its inclusion coincides with the show's 10th anniversary
"I think the National Recording Registry is an artistic version of a nation's conversation with itself," he said in a statement
"Every piece of art that is made is both deemed timeless by the Library of Congress and also a product of its time
to go back as far as the turn of the century
to the beginning of recorded sound to the present is to hear points in a timeline
I feel incredibly honored that Hamilton is a point in that timeline."
Selections from this year's National Recording Registry additions will be featured on 1A
a show produced by WAMU and distributed by NPR in its series "The Sounds of America."
This year's complete list of recordings to be preserved for posterity follow

Both of them have been working on very little sleep
with Alloway telling me she’s been staying up till around 2 a.m
accidentally crashing on the couch in the middle of refreshing his Bloomberg app for updates
“Then at some point my alarm clock went off at 4:30 a.m,” he says
He admits that after several days without any Zyn nicotine pouches
The duo is very much aware that their audience size and content engagement are inextricably linked to poor market conditions
like the volatility seen as a result of Trump’s trade wars
and they’ve upped their usual three weekly episodes
posting content basically every day to keep their audience up to date on the lightning-speed developments
one of Bloomberg’s fastest-growing subscription newsletter offerings
has so far seen a 142% increase in sign-ups this month compared to the average in March
the podcast has seen a nearly 72% week-over-week increase in downloads since the tariff plan was announced last week
the podcast reaches more than 1 million downloads per month
“I’m pretty sure our download traffic is correlated with the VIX volatility index,” Alloway quips in our interview
“Anytime there’s massive interest in these things,” Weisenthal tells Vanity Fair
“it’s never once been during a period of economic tranquility.”
was also regularly dropping news and insights throughout the week
“This is a form of news that lends itself very well to headlines and charts
which is an amazing thing that the Bloomberg terminal has in spades,” Weisenthal adds
“So it is not an accident that all of what’s happening right now is playing out on social media.”
This conversation has been edited for length and clarity
Vanity Fair: You wrote [Wednesday morning] that all Trump has to do is snap his fingers and this will all go away
So I thought we were going to get a little rest
because he reversed a bunch of the tariffs
but the one thing he can’t reverse is the uncertainty or the threat of the tariffs
I know there have been a lot of analogies recently
you can’t unring the bell on the threat of tariffs; you can’t put the tariff-threat toothpaste back in the bottle
Your coverage this week has been unrelenting
and I just kept refreshing my Bloomberg app on my phone as the 10-year rate kept going higher and higher
Then at some point my alarm clock went off at 4:30 a.m
I think I have existential angst about everything that’s going on in the markets
Weisenthal: This is the dynamic that we have
which is that Tracy takes things very seriously in the world
We’re really good complements for this reason
the line is moving this direction,” that gets me going
this is really serious stuff that actually matters.” But this is our balance here that we achieve and these two approaches to thinking about the news
How do you get through intense coverage weeks like this
Alloway: The great thing about Odd Lots is
the longer we do it—we've been going for 10 years—the easier it kind of gets
We did a bunch of supply chain episodes back in 2020
so now we can just call them up pretty easily and have them back on the show
Weisenthal: I had gone about four or five days without any Zyn
Has anything changed about the podcast schedule as a result of the fluctuations this week
and I don’t know when that’s going to stop at this point
and then COVID kicked it into a twice-a-week podcast
And now this week—we’re not going to stay at five days a week
It’s not going to continue like this forever
But we have been doing an extremely rigorous
intense pace of episode turnaround on a very strained production staff
Are there any specific recent highlights from your coverage that you think were particularly prescient given recent news
He’s leaving town and he’s selling his place
“I’m basically short the US de facto.” That was very good
We don’t often try to coordinate an episode at the market call or whatever
But that episode has held up quite well in the one and a half weeks since it was published
We do not give financial advice on Odd Lots ever
But if someone made an informed decision because of an episode we did
we’re always happy to supply people with more information
I think I saw one of you make a joke that you know it’s bad when you’re on cable news
what are your thoughts when the news dial switches to your beat
Weisenthal: Anytime there’s massive interest in these things
it’s never once been during a period of economic tranquility
So the fact that people are reading all that
or we see our download numbers spike in general
Alloway: I’m pretty sure our download traffic is correlated with the VIX volatility index
I will say the surreal thing for me this week is
people talk about stocks on prime time at a reasonable
but this week it was all about the bond market
going on MSNBC and talking about what’s going on in bonds and why it’s such a huge deal
and all these trades that were potentially blowing up
and why foreign investors might be shying away from buying US debt—that was quite different
I’ve noticed a significant number of people tuning in to both of your work
specifically social media updates during all of this
and I’ve slowly ebbed away from my Twitter
Weisenthal: I stopped posting on the weekends
this is progress I’m making on my mental health and my unhealthy addiction to posting on social media
including the president and all the various hangers-on around him
This is a form of news that lends itself very well to headlines and charts
which is an amazing thing that the Bloomberg terminal has in spades
So it is not an accident that all of what’s happening right now is playing out on social media
and his followers have declared victory in a sense
Weisenthal: The NASDAQ is down 6.3% as we’re speaking [on Thursday afternoon]
The market is significantly lower than it was before he revealed that big
This is against the stated goal of the administration
We know already that there’s a massive uncertainty and now guaranteed to be at least three more months of uncertainty
None of this is a judgment on whether it’s good or bad
This is literally just stats and objective things that are happening in the world
It’s hard to see what the victory is at this point
Alloway: By the administration’s own benchmarks—Joe mentioned some of them—they haven’t hit that scorecard
They’ve explicitly said they want to lower mortgage rates
Higher interest rates also means higher borrowing costs for the US government
and that is potentially happening at a time when Trump says he wants to reduce US debt and he wants to refinance at cheaper rates
But just going back to the uncertainty point
Trump says he wants to increase manufacturing
He wants to reindustrialize the country—that's a really expensive process
You need a lot of money to build basic factories
and you probably need even more money to build advanced-tech factories
he’s kind of destabilized every single form of capital out there—bonds
international—and it’s not clear to me who is going to come in now and pay for all of this

Lucky said the call was transferred to him at about 6 p.m.
after he had already seen the “troubling” situation on the news
He had Haynes and family members meet him at the Urban Specialists office
and talked to Haynes about turning himself in
Lucky said Haynes wanted to turn himself in and told him: “I want to deal with this.”
You need to deal with this and face it head on,’” Lucky said
Lucky said they then took Haynes to the Lew Sterrett Justice Center
This isn’t the first time that families of suspects have reached out to Urban Specialists
though often they work with victims of violence
than having Haynes — who he noted was 17 — on the run or considered armed and dangerous
we believe in … convincing them to do the right thing
I believe in having that young man to deal with whatever is alleged against him
The motive for the shooting was not publicly known Tuesday
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News
Haynes shot several students after he was let into the school by another student

The novelist was just 12 when the ex-busker stunned a mammoth crowd at the Free Nelson Mandela concert – and sent everyone racing to Woolworths for her astonishing debut album
perfect songs of protest have mesmerised the writer ever since
I was 12 and sitting with my family watching the Free Nelson Mandela Concert on TV
we were old hands at trying to free Mandela
having done our fair share of marching and boycotting over the years
and this concert felt like the culmination of all that
There was a lot of excitement in the room: we squeezed on to the sofa and opened the windows wide
(If the wind’s blowing in the right direction
you can hear a Wembley audience roar from Willesden.)
Many world-famous musicians played that day
but one I will never forget: Tracy Chapman
though when you rewatch the footage you realise what she was up against at the time
chatting or just partying among themselves
She looked like our mother: no make-up and the same three-inch dreadlocksDrafted in as replacement for Stevie Wonder – who had last-minute technical issues – it must have taken a lot of courage for an unknown 24-year-old to play in front of 90,000 people
not to mention a worldwide television audience of 600 million
you spy the Harvard Square busker she’d so recently been
demoralised by all the commuters and the students rushing by …
I want a ticket to anywhere / Maybe we make a deal / Maybe together we can get somewhere
and Wembley in particular was the home of spectacle and theatrics
Chapman was something completely different: a protest singer with an acoustic guitar
It’s wonderful to watch that mammoth crowd fall into an awed silence
But what was such a person doing on television
And she didn’t just look like the people on our side of the screen
View image in fullscreen‘No fat
it seemed like pretty much everyone who had any interest in music at all had made a pilgrimage to Woolworths or Our Price and bought her debut album
those 11 songs had buried themselves deep into so many people’s lives
Most artists of that period had juggernaut PR machines around them
but with Chapman the communication was singular and direct
and nothing extra was needed to amplify it
I don’t recall reading a single interview with her
and I don’t think I saw her perform again until she sang Fast Car with Luke Combs at the 2024 Grammys
the only photograph I’d ever seen of her was the one on the front of that first album
Yet despite knowing next to nothing about her
I and millions of others have been listening to her for decades
When you write songs like Tracy Chapman does
you don’t really need to do anything else but that
Her debut is the articulation of this principle: 11 perfect songs
driven by a clear unity of purpose that announces itself from the get-go and never lets up
View image in fullscreen‘A reclamation of unity’ … Chapman in Los Angeles
Photograph: Lester Cohen/Getty ImagesThis is an album about “the people”
They are addressed directly in Talkin’ Bout a Revolution
and kept in mind throughout: the labour they perform
They are certainly the working poor but they are more than the “proletariat”
they want “mountains of things” instead of freedom
Not infrequently they do dangerous or dumb things
or make poor decisions that make their already hard lives worse
but love also just as often gets disrupted or crushed by the pressing demands of sheer survival
is how the American game is rigged against them
Working them half to death for the minimum wage
or creating division where solidarity is required: Across the lines / Who would dare to go / Under the bridge / Over the tracks / That separate whites from blacks
it’s sometimes hard to remember how rigidly binary the American music business was in the 1980s and 90s
It was incredibly difficult back then to imagine a folk singer with a guitar existing outside of the paradigm set by Bob Dylan
Hip-hop could be and often was “protest music”
but black women were soul singers or pop stars
singing passionately about one country and the working people who live there
employing a stripped-down production that still feels profoundly radical
for a young artist to explain to their record label that they want to record an a cappella lament about domestic violence
It won’t do no good to call / The police always come late / If they come at all
The poor people described in Tracy Chapman do not have all the answers
not by politicians or employers or neighbours or lovers
The truths they want to hear are not particularly complex but they are essential
in my view: to remind technocrats and politicians and all those who hold power of the fundamental concerns of the people
it’s astonishing how few answers we presently have to Chapman’s basic questions: Why do the babies starve
/ There’s enough food to feed the world / Why when there are so many of us / Are there people still alone
// Why are the missiles called peacekeepers / When they’re aimed to kill
/ Why is a woman still not safe / When she’s in her home
honest language is the tool of the protest singer
and continues to be employed at the highest levels of American power: Love is hate / War is peace / No is yes / We’re all free
Chapman’s sheer melodic beauty and committed
generous lyrics are a gift to her listeners
But I feel that her career – which started with this extraordinary album – has also served as a startling and humbling example to artists
She reminds us that an artist can pursue an individual course without being individualistic
That she can speak to many without necessarily speaking to the press
and that every human being has a right to it
that a soul is something worth holding on to

Morgan provided an update on social media Tuesday morning, saying doctors told him he was dealing with a bout of food poisoning. The former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock star also joked about pulling a similar move in the playoffs after it sparked a Knicks rally.
"Thank you for all your concern! I'm doing OK now and doctors say it was food poisoning," Morgan wrote in his post. "Appreciate my MSG family for taking such good care of me and I need to shout out the crew that had to clean that up. Appreciate you!
"More importantly, the Knicks are now 1-0 when I throw up on the court so maybe I'll have to break it out again in the playoffs."

The Five Sides of Marjorie Rice: How to Discover a Shape
Marjorie Rice was a quiet homemaker in the 1950s
she had been fascinated with geometry and art
and that fascination led her down a rabbit hole to the land of shapes
Have you ever thought that shapes could be invented
mathematicians had wrestled with the problem of the pentagon--that is a 5-sided shape
They knew that any 3- or 4-sided shape with straight edges could be tessellated or tiled so that it would fit infinitely one against the other
Some 6-sided shapes could be tiled as well
Reading her son's Scientific American magazine one day
Marjorie found an article about the pentagon problem
a mathematician had listed five types of tiling pentagons and thought the list complete
three more types of tiling pentagons were discovered
and she started out drawing pentagons or “little houses” as she referred to them and started pushing and pulling the edges
Marjorie Rice ultimately discovered four types of tiling pentagons helping to solve a puzzle that had baffled mathematicians for hundreds of years
Out of the 15 types of convex tiling pentagons discovered throughout the history of mathematics
The back matter of this book not only includes a great author’s note
but it also encourages readers to discover shapes on their own and to look at the works of other tiling artists and mathematicians
I was absolutely blown away by this picture book biography and I think any reader of any age would appreciate learning about the incomparable Marjorie Rice
and there are a few dozen cut shapes on my desk right now

Stella & Marigold
Tracy’s Take: If you have an early chapter book reader in your life
you may have heard of the “Ivy + Bean” series by Annie Barrows
This duo is again coming together to bring us a new book that has the hallmarks of becoming just as iconic as Ivy + Bean
They live in the bottom-half of a house and live the normal lives that sisters do
They go to school and the zoo and they have friends and they get sick
there is a little magic sprinkled--in the magic that comes from great imagination
The sick blanket might hold the key to dreams of stars and lions
The book their mother read to them launches Stella and Marigold into a quest for survival when they are left inside the house alone
They even had to burn their toys to keep warm
the flames they used were made of construction paper
A challenge to a best friendship is handled quite nicely by a hopping bunny
A closet turned rocket ship takes Stella and Marigold to Japan to see the snow monkeys
navigating the world with their sister by their side and using wonderful imagination to iron out all the wrinkles
I hope there is more to come as I loved the time I spent with Stella and Marigold
Halfway to Somewhere (a graphic novel)
They love the time spent with their family
Kansas and moves Ave and younger brother Ramon to the United States
Older sister Cruz and Ave’s dad had been born in Mexico and would join the family when they were able to
They're not sure of their English and their mother's Mexican expectations of Abe seem impossible to meet in this new culture
Abe is frustrated as Ramon seamlessly accepts this foreign culture as his own and makes a best friend
running helps Abe clear their mind and work through memories
They are very much looking forward to when the family will be reunited and hopes for a return to some normalcy
when Abe’s mother tells them that the separation is permanent and Cruz and their father aren't coming
Exploration of identity is central to this beautifully drawn and colored graphic novel
How does Abe assimilate into this new culture while their definition of who they are is falling apart
Abe gets along with a lot of help from some new friends
It’s All or Nothing, Vale
Tracy’s Take: Vale is a world class athlete pushed by her parents to excel in the world of fencing
it forces her to spend four months away from school
away from the identity she has created for herself
But now she's back at school and ready to practice with her team
Expecting to be greeted as a returning hero by her team
she is instead introduced to the new member
who has taken Vale's place as the head of the team
Her first practice back leaves her in doubt and frustration
Her leg is weak and she can't stand that Myrka not only easily beats her
but that the coach praises Vale even though she lost
While subsequent practices go slightly better
Vale comes to a slow realization that her life may be permanently different
Her hated pink cane is a reminder of how much life has changed and how her life may never
allowing her laser focus on fencing to blur and shift
she tells her family that it's time for a break
She not only sees her family in a new light
but she finds friends and more as her world grows
This novel in verse is a magnificent reminder that as difficult as change may be
it is possible and sometimes might be the only way forward

LANSING — Former Michigan State University football coach Mel Tucker maintains he had a mutual
consensual relationship with sexual assault advocate Brenda Tracy
Tucker made the assertions in a filing on April 28 in response to Tracy's lawsuit filed in October
Tucker was fired as the Spartan coach in September of 2023, after a complaint that Tracy filed with MSU in December 2022, came to light in a USA Today story
Tracy said Tucker made a series of unwelcome sexual advances over the course of their year-long business dealings
culminating in a phone call in April 2022 in which he masturbated without her consent
Tracy's October lawsuit claimed Tucker intentionally tried to ruin her public image and reputation with false statements
including his claims that she made up the allegations in a plot to extort him and the school for money

Tucker in his response claims he was under the impression that Tracy reciprocated his feelings and he did not intend to ruin her reputation
the parties were in an entirely mutual and consensual relationship
willing participants in the discussion and the phone call," Tucker's attorneys wrote about the April 2022 phone call
Tucker's attorneys also said he did not act with malice or break contracts with Tracy after she rejected his advances
He also denies accessing her personal email and accounts without permission and said that her conversations with her deceased assistant were not subject to privacy
Tracy's lawsuit is one in a series of legal developments since Tucker was fired
Last month, Tucker's attorney, Andrew Abood, filed a notice of intent to sue MSU if the university did not cover Tucker's legal costs in litigation with Tracy
The seven-month gap between when Tracy filed the lawsuit against Tucker in Ingham County Circuit Court in October and his response in late April was due
to what Tracy's attorney said was difficulty serving Tucker with the lawsuit
said it took months of trying to serve Tucker with the complaint
forcing her to ask the court for alternative methods of serving him
Messages were left with Truszkowski Thursday morning
Tracy claimed Tucker defamed her with false statements during MSU's Office of Institutional Equity investigation and to the public
Tucker argued that any statements made to those investigators - including alleging Tracy exploits the men she works with for money - were made in his defense and were "not materially false." Tucker denied making any false allegations against Tracy publicly
Tracy also said Tucker broke a contract for a speaking engagement with her after he masturbated during a phone call with her and she told him they would never talk about it again and that they were only friends
Tracy was scheduled to speak to the MSU football team months after the incident
a presentation Tucker "abruptly" canceled and moved to January 2023
Tucker denied that she was scheduled to speak in July 2022 and that there was no existing contract between them
Tracy also claims Tucker intentionally ruined her long-time business relationships by releasing private conversations between herself and her deceased assistant
were released to interfere with her business relationships
tarnish her reputation and coerce her to withdrawal the misconduct complaint she made against him to the university
Tucker said the conversations were only outlined to then-interim President Teresa Woodruff and the MSU Board of Trustees
He said he didn't know how the national media was made aware of the conversations and did not act with malice when he sent them to MSU officials
He also said that he came into possession of the text messages by legal means
She's also taken steps to sue MSU by filing a notice of intent with the Michigan Court of Claims
Her attorney characterized the move as keep the option to sue open if needed
CMT hosted the broadcast debut of Alex Miller’s “The Byrd” earlier today (Mon
May 5th) and it is now spinning across the 24-hour music channel
The honky-tonkin’ performance-forward video prominently features 90s country star Tracy Byrd
produced and directed by Steve Kinney (Kinney Entertainment)
was filmed at several Nashville area locations and ably captured the great “buddy” dynamic between Miller and Byrd
there are plenty of scenes that include pickup trucks
The cast features Meredith Kelley as the female lead
Great music and beer pong at the neighbor’s party are all that are needed to ensure that the “live it large” attitude prevails
Miller co-wrote the tune with his producer and hit songwriter Jerry Salley
and it is already impacting at both country and Texas radio stations
CMT Spotify has added the song to their playlist
Fans will have the chance to see Alex and Tracy perform “The Byrd” at the Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley

The “NOFO LIVE” podcast began as a passion project when Sunita Narma and Tracy Kessler were moving into new homes and embracing new chapters of their lives
not just to our physical spaces but to the incredible community around us,” they told us
and we realized there wasn’t a space dedicated to capturing that energy in a real
we decided to create that space ourselves.”
“NOFO LIVE” aims to bring the community together and highlight the voices that make the North Fork of Long Island special
We spoke to Narma and Kessler about the podcast that celebrates all things North Fork
Tracy: One of my favorite moments was actually off-air
Sunita and I went to the East End Food Market in Riverhead one weekend
we knew more than 50 percent of the vendors because they had all been guests on the show
and connect in person with our fellow North Forkers
and it was a tangible example of what we’ve created here with NOFO LIVE
Sunita: I’m a people person through and through
and even accumulating new friends each Friday through NOFO LIVE
it’s actually been an incredible tool for building friendships — after all
Some of the most memorable conversations have been with guests who took a leap of faith to start a new life on the North Fork
I’m constantly amazed by the diversity and ingenuity of the people here — how they found their way to this special place and what they’re building in each new chapter of their lives
Whether it’s a business rooted in family tradition
every story adds to the fabric of this community
Getting to share and celebrate these stories each week is what makes NOFO LIVE so special to me
or guests dropping wisdom that sticks with us
unfiltered moments keep each episode fresh and authentic
But the real reward is hearing how an episode helped a guest gain customers
or feel more connected to the community — proof that NOFO LIVE is making an impact
and that’s exactly why we show up every week
What truly stands out is the community response
“I never knew that about so-and-so,” or “I felt so seen in that conversation,” it reaffirms why we do this
NOFO LIVE isn’t just about interviews — it’s about bringing people together through stories
and real conversations that celebrate life on the North Fork
Sunita: Nothing compares to the magic of a North Fork sunset
Every evening brings a new masterpiece — no two are ever the same
I’ve given myself the very official title of “Professional Sunset Watcher” because
if there were a way to make a career out of it
There’s something about the way the sky transforms over the water that never gets old — it’s a daily reminder of how special this place is
This ritual is also a reminder that the simplest things in life bring the most serenity
has been a huge inspiration behind NOFO Style
and more to celebrate the effortless beauty of North Fork living
Tracy: My happy place is out on the water with my daughter and family
or simply soaking in the salt air from the sandy beach
there’s nothing better than the freedom and peace that comes from being by the water
Living in a generational home just steps from Peconic Bay allows me to recall childhood memories of playing at that very beach and cherish the deep roots my ancestors established here on the North Fork
The North Fork’s beautiful bodies of water inspire reflection and gratitude in every moment spent here
That love for the North Fork — whether it’s on the water or under a painted sky — is exactly what makes NOFO LIVE such a passion project for us both
Every episode is a chance to learn more from each guest about their experiences and celebrate what makes this place so special
What we love most about the North Fork community is its deep sense of connection
It’s the kind of place where people genuinely care — whether it’s rallying around a local business
or simply stopping to chat at the farmers’ market
There’s a mix of old and new here — lifelong locals and fresh faces — all adding their own energy and stories
giving a platform to the voices that make this place special
The North Fork isn’t just a destination; it’s a community that welcomes you in and makes you feel at home
we actually ask guests this very question: “What do you love most about being a part of the North Fork community?” And every Friday
we are reminded of just how special this place is
The answers always come back to the same core themes: connection
and the warm welcome that makes the North Fork more than just a place to live — it makes it a place to belong
The North Fork is full of incredible small businesses and community leaders
Aside from a select few who return to highlight major annual events — like CAST’s Festival of Trees
and the Mattituck Strawberry Festival — we’ve never had to repeat a guest
That just goes to show how many more stories are out there waiting to be shared
It feels like we’ll never run out of amazing people to chat with
and that’s what keeps us excited to show up every Friday
we both have our own businesses that keep us busy
Sunita recently launched NOFO style in 2024
a brand that creates handmade products — bags
and more — designed to celebrate the simplicity and charm of North Fork living
a national event production firm that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary
she’s directed her attention to her passion project
and we are dedicated to continuing to celebrate this incredible community for years to come
One of our goals moving forward is to create more opportunities to connect with our audience in person
We host a vision board event in January to help set intentions and direction for the year
make it a point to be present at local happenings
throw our annual NOFO LIVE celebration each May to mark the end of our season
This year’s event is happening on May 14 at The Halyard in Greenport and is themed Bollywood Night (yes
and all) — a perfect chance for past guests and listeners to come together
and experience the magic of NOFO LIVE beyond the screen
If you’ve been tuning in every Friday or are just discovering us
come join the fun — it’s going to be an unforgettable night

“It was wonderful to be gathered together with so many religious leaders from such diverse faith traditions,” said Sister Browning
second counselor in the Primary general presidency
Sister Browning said after returning to Utah that she found it “particularly sweet” to listen as those who offered prayers communicated with God “in their own special ways.”
Reflecting on the National Day of Prayer — a time for leaders and others in the United States to ask God for strength and direction and express thanks to Him for His goodness and grace — Sister Browning said
“I think it is marvelous that there is this opportunity that we have as believers to come together and petition to God for our needs.”
She also noted that it is a blessing for Latter-day Saints to know that the “power of prayer can be manifest in our lives every day.”
As she reflected on the event, Sister Browning said a scripture found in James 5:16
“The first part of that scripture invites us to ‘pray one for another.’ And the next part of that scripture is a reminder that ‘the fervent prayer’ of the righteous can accomplish much,” she said
“There are blessings that come when we pray for one another.”
Sister Browning’s attendance is the latest instance of Latter-day Saint leaders engaging in national observances that promote faith and community
The United States has observed an annual National Day of Prayer since 1952
the country began holding this day of prayer on the first Thursday in May

presents the high school Earth Day Challenge trophy to Tracy High teacher Nishi Dwivedi
All three Earth Day Challenge projects were described on poster boards
available for the public to peruse during the Tracy Earth Day event at the intersection of Central Avenue and Ninth Street
Winners of the Tracy Earth Day Challenge received medals
and Megan Stepanek of David Babcock and Associates talked about the value of wildflowers in landscaping at the Tracy Earth Day event
Theirs was one of many booths lining Ninth Street between Central Avenue and B Street
Tracy Disposal put up a kid-friendly display to showcase the waste separation system that the company encourages Tracy residents to use during the Tracy Earth Day event on Ninth Street on Saturday
Gigantic bubbles are always one of the big attractions for kids at the Tracy Earth Day event along Ninth Street
Kids used sidewalk chalk to illustrate the Tracy Earth Day event on Ninth Street on Saturday

Visitors to the Tracy Earth Day event had a variety of booths to visit along Ninth Street on Saturday
Sparkles the Clown engages a group of children in her performance on Saturday at the Tracy Earth Day event on Ninth Street
Mitchell Dill provided the musical backdrop to the Tracy Earth Day event at Ninth Street and Central Avenue
Tracy Earth Project had a big turnout for its Earth Day event on Saturday in downtown Tracy
It was a chance for the local nonprofit to reinforce its message of environmental sustainability while giving businesses
who lined Ninth Street between Central Avenue and B Streets with their booths
the opportunity to showcase their initiatives to promote a healthy environment
One of the highlights of the morning was the announcement of the Earth Day Challenge winners
The project attracted entries from 30 teams
including 180 students at three levels who created their own initiatives to promote environmental awareness
Earth Day founder and Tracy City Council member Dotty Nygard described the effort with her group and local teachers to promote the challenge
and other community members to judge the projects
“This is truly a community collaborative,” she said
“We try to engage our community to help support our kids
We want to make sure that we are promoting STEM (science
engineering and mathematics) and that's what really is their future.”
San Joaquin County Fifth District Supervisor Robert Rickman presented the trophy to the winner of the high school Earth Day Challenge Award
“The fact that we have billions of textiles ending up in our landfills
dove so deep into this project on how things are manufactured
how the workforce is incorporated into this and how we as a society are so disposable.”
Team member Aydin Asefi described how the fashion industry is dependent on people always wanting to buy new products
without any thought about what becomes of the old products
“It's this quick process and it leads to huge
“We estimate that about 10% of global carbon emissions actually come from fast fashion and the fashion industry as a whole
Shipping is also a huge problem because it has to come from countries like Bangladesh
The team looked into the buying habits of consumers
the amount of textile waste that goes to landfills
and the possibilities for recycling textiles to make new products
Ultimately the goal they’d like to see society work toward is a reduction in the demand for cheap and disposable clothing
“We came to our solution of changing the culture because changing the culture is fundamentally the only way that we can eradicate the issue of fast fashion
You can't just tell people to stop buying something
You have to create other solutions of things that are cooler
“One of the biggest opportunities that we see is with thrifting
because thrifting is actually been a rising trend and thrifting is really cool
I have a bunch of thrifted clothes because I go thrifting once in a while
The middle school Earth Day Challenge winner was Shalini Gupta’s class from Kelly School
which looked at the causes of ozone air pollution
Their study included health effects of ozone pollution and suggestions on what can be done to reduce ozone pollution
13th District State Assembly member and a former Tracy City Council member
“This is how we have a sustainable community
but we need this kind of work to invest in sustainability and for the future and to show what is possible
how we actually do our part to keep our community strong and sustainable,” she said
“This reminds me that the future is in very thoughtful hands
Presenting the award for the elementary school division was Fifth District State Senator Jerry McNerney
“It's so encouraging to see all the great school folks that understand the need to protect our environment,” McNerney said
“They understand the threat that climate change is posing
and that we need to take strong steps to protect the Earth
That award went to Ciara Winters’ third grade class at South/West Park School for their project
“Plastic Planet to Thriving Planet,” where the team from Winter’s class
studies the different kinds of plastics used and the effects on the environment from discarded plastics
Their study also focused on which types of plastics can or cannot be easily or efficiently recycled
They go on to suggest what people – including government
communities and families – can do to reduce the use of plastics and plastic waste

Former world number one Tracy Austin has made a bold prediction

Despite Zverev’s undeniable talent and consistent performance on the court

Tracy Lynn Wilemon was rebuilding her life from scratch
Recovering from a divorce and a cross-country move that took her away from her daughter − described by family as "her everything" − Wilemon got a place of her own
and had finally saved enough money for a car
Until one night, out of nowhere, her own cousin and her cousin’s boyfriend, James Osgood
They then carried out what one prosecutor described as a "twisted fantasy" that ended in Wilemon's murder
She deserved to have the greatest life and flourish.”
Osgood is set to be executed by lethal injection in Alabama on Thursday
Wilemon's family plans to be there to witness it
Family members describe 44-year-old Tracy Lynn Wilemon as a fun-loving
hard-working mother who was thriving in Clanton
She was saving money from her job at a nursing home to visit her daughter in Lake Havasu
started from scratch," Jackson told USA TODAY
She cared a lot about taking care of others and helping."
Jackson added: "She was thriving and happy."
Jackson said that she and her stepsister were more like real sisters and spent much of their childhood growing up in the Los Angeles suburb of Riverside along with cousin Tonya Vandyke
who would later help Osgood rape and kill Wilemon (whose legal last name was Brown when she was killed but her family prefers her maiden name to be used in print)
adding that the girls would do each other's hair
and go horseback-riding and roller-skating
the women remained close and were always going to the beach and throwing family barbecues
Jackson said that Wilemon had a lot of life left to live
missed the birth of a grandson and a granddaughter
and deserved so much more than the horrific ending she got
"She would have made an amazing grandmother."

James Osgood and his girlfriend Tonya Vandyke attacked Wilemon in her bedroom
Both Osgood and Vandyke raped Wilemon and forced her to perform sex acts on them
Osgood slashed Wilemon's throat a number of times before stabbing her in the back
"I remember seeing the fear in her eyes and seeing her shaking," Osgood said during his confession to investigators with the Chilton County Sheriff's Department
"I know there was a lot of cutting involved but it wasn't a crime of violence
During the horrific last moments of Wilemon's life
the trial judge told him: "I can't think of a darker set of facts than what you have given us," according to reporting from the Montgomery Advertiser
Osgood was sentenced to death while Vandyke is serving life in federal prison
told USA TODAY that they were traveling to Alabama from Southern California to witness Osgood's execution
so it's important for her to be present just to honor Tracy's memory and who she was and what she went through," Jackson said
said that her husband (and Tracy Wilemon's father) died four years ago
"I want to tell him I forgive him but I won't forget and I hope he's found the Lord," she said
Jackson said that while Osgood deserves to be executed
the situation has her "feeling sick to my stomach" because of her Christianity
"I struggled with whether I believe in the death penalty or do not but I've come to the conclusion that it's God's will
Proper due process was held and this is all God's doing," she said
but added: "I could just cry because this man is experiencing his last days."
