Kriel earned his 79th Test cap in the Boks’ 45-12 victory over Wales in their closing Castle Lager Outgoing Tour match to wrap up an unbeaten November trip for the first time since 2013
who was included in World Rugby’s Men’s 15s Dream Team of the Year on Sunday evening
said while they were pleased with their season
and that they were determined to build on this form next season and become even better
The Springboks defeated Scotland 32-15 in Edinburgh and England 29-20 in London before toppling Wales in a match in which they recorded their second-highest victory in history in Cardiff
“Obviously the guys are very happy with the three wins,” said Kriel
“We set a goal at the beginning of the tour to go unbeaten because we haven’t achieved that since 2013
so we’re very happy with that and the performance against Wales
“There’s still a lot we can work on as a team
and we are pretty satisfied with today’s result.”
Kriel praised the attitude of his team-mates as Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus used 50 players throughout the season and said it painted a bright picture for the future of Springbok rugby
and everyone put up their hand,” said Kriel
“When you get the right people in the room
All the guys that came in did so without egos and just wanted to get the job done and win for South Africa
and I really feel we are building something special
and we’ll try to focus on getting better as players
so hopefully we can contribute when we get back together and become even better as a team.”

Unit 6 at Kriel Power Station correctly tripped following the loss of hydraulic oil to the turbine valves
A preliminary investigation revealed that an oil pipe had broken
causing an oil spill on the hot surfaces of the turbine
Eskom assures South Africans that this incident will not impact the current generation capacity or lead to loadshedding
incremental results of the Generation Recovery Plan have continually added more of a “buffer” to the system to manage incidents such as this
The station’s fire and emergency team responded swiftly to extinguish and contain the fire
Eskom can confirm no personnel were injured
and all other units at the power station remain fully operational
The standard investigation procedure is now underway to assess the extent of the damage
as well as the time required for repairs and restoration
Eskom will make a further announcement when the results of this investigation are finalised
Kriel Power Station Unit 6 contributes 475MW to the power grid
total unplanned outages stand at 8 483MW—still 4 517MW below the base case for summer 2024
The current available generation capacity is 30 809MW
while today’s peak demand is forecasted at 26 364MW
There are currently adequate reserves for evening peak
with an additional 720MW anticipated to return to service later today
Eskom remains committed to maintaining a reliable power supply and will continue to provide the public with significant updates

Dhashen and Siya spent hours with the Skhosanas
From going to church to lunch and the family farm
Dhashen and Siya explored the ins and outs of the Skhosanas’ lives
ultimately trying to understand how they will be affected by the Just Transition
One thing is for sure: the lives of coal families across the country are going to change drastically in the coming years
The need for a transition away from fossil fuels is undeniable
What This Coal Life does is pull back the curtain on the uncomfortable challenges of the Just Transition
What does a transition to cleaner energy mean for a father who has only ever worked in the mining industry
who has her sights set on leaving Kriel before it becomes a ghost town
the future of the so-called “children of coal” is unclear
Adam Skhosana describes to Dhashen and Siya what it was like growing up on the farm
where the family house used to be and where the family graveyard still is
listeners emphasised how the narrative-driven nature of the podcast captured their attention and made them feel like they could relate to the trials and tribulations of the characters
They also noted the need for more support to further unpack what is at stake for their community
Radio Workshop facilitated a listening session where the podcast was used as a conversation starter
Fifty community members gathered around youth reporters and an energy expert to share their opinions
one of them reflected: “I feel like this podcast is perfect for awareness and dialogue
we had a lot of questions in mind that we’d like to answer with each other
and it gave us an easier view of how this Just Transition will work.” DM

The Kriel brothers could face each other again this weekend when the Lions host the Bulls in Johannesburg in the eagerly anticipated Jukskei derby in the United Rugby Championship
is expected to be named in their matchday 23 for the derby
Both brothers played first-team rugby at Grey College in Bloemfontein
while they also represented the Free State in the Craven Week
While David started his career at the Stormers
They briefly played together in Pretoria before Richard went to Zebre in Italy
It won’t be the first time they tackle each other
it becomes a little more competitive – but in a good way
and it comes with quite a bit of banter the closer it gets to game day
we also played against each other twice in the derby
there’s a lot more chirping at home,” said Kriel
“I’m not seeing it as me against my brother; I’m seeing it as the Bulls versus the Lions
But we’re going to do our best to come out on the winning side
and we just can’t wait to be part of it again
still can’t decide which team he wants to support – we even made a jersey that’s half Bulls and half Lions
I think he’s a draadsitter (sitting on the fence),” Kriel chuckled
Kriel added that he doesn’t look for the one-on-one challenge against his brother but welcomes it if it happens
I fully focus on what the team needs – playing within the game plan and how we want to perform,” he added
Saturday’s Jukskei derby between the Lions and Bulls at Ellis Park in Johannesburg will kick off at 14:45

AfriForum has rejected US President Donald Trump’s offer to relocate to the US. This comes as Trump signed an executive order stopping Financial aid to South Africa and allowing for opportunities for settlement for white Afrikaners in the US
Afriforum CEO Kallie Kriel and Solidarity briefed the media yesterday in Pretoria on their stance on the situation unfolding in the country and international funding
Kriel says Afrikaners are not going anywhere
Our people became a people here on the southern tip of Africa
Dutch coming to the southern tip of Africa as Europeans but we became a people here
We are indigenous to this country and we are going nowhere.”
VIDEO| AfriForum holds a media briefing over Trump’s executive order:
While there are always bragging rights up for grabs in the Jukskei derby
in one household it gets a lot more personal than that
Brothers David and Richard Kriel stay together
and will face off on Saturday as the Vodacom Bulls head to Johannesburg to face neighbours
the Emirates Lions in their Vodacom United Rugby Championship match
and the will to want to win to claim those bragging rights for household dominance
Bulls utility back David laughed about it as he geared up to face his brother this weekend
Kriel has just returned from a shoulder injury while his brother Richard also returned from injury with both expected to be in the starting line-up this weekend
there’s been a lot more chirping at home,” Kriel laughed
“But I don’t see it as me against my brother
it’s the Bulls versus Lions and both of us want to win badly.”
a team game and individual rivalries are normally a sideshow
and Kriel admitted he wouldn’t be making it that personal
but if his brother happens to run into his channel
“I won’t go looking for Richard on the field
but if he runs at me – or vice versa – then it will be a lekker challenge.”
but for the Kriel family it is a tough one on who to support
So David admitted his dad had a jersey made with both teams on it
“Our dad still can’t decide which team he wants to support
He made a jersey that has the Lions on one half and the Bulls on the other
It isn’t much of a secret what the Lions are going to do on their home turf
and David believes Richard has given away enough info for him to use this weekend
“We know the Lions love to run with the ball and my brother often tells me how much they back themselves to do that
You also don’t want to lose your structure
We will stick to our game plan and hopefully come out on top.”
The Bulls will name their side for the clash on Friday
Springboks centre Jesse Kriel fired the Canon Eagles to victory in the Japan Rugby League One this weekend
scoring two tries against Kwagga Smith’s Shizuoka Blue Revs
it was the Eagles who emerged 53-35 victors with Kriel setting up one try and finishing off two himself while teammate Faf de Klerk enjoyed a lively outing at scrum-half
Blue Revs captain Smith also scored in a losing effort as he racked up 80 running metres in another standout performance
While Kriel led the charge with his pair, the Springbokscentre was outscored by his winger Masayoshi Takezawa
with Sione Halasili grabbing two and speedster Kippei Ishida scoring a five-pointer
Smith got the Blue Revs on the board in the defeat with Malo Tuitama scoring twice while Murray Douglas and Shuntaro Kitamura both crossed the whitewash too
Kriel played his part in the opening try for Canon with a well-timed pass inside the Blue Revs‘ 22 with the ball eventually finding Takezawa who went over in the corner
The Springboks centre was next to score as he benefitted from a misread from the Blue Revs’ backfield and a lucky bounce that sat up perfectly for him as he cantered through from behind the halfway line
Springboks set for blockbuster November with French ‘grudge match’ and belated ‘series decider’
The Revs’ response came through their inspirational skipper Smith as the back-rower got the ball in space out wide and from there
it was all too easy for him to skin Matt Philip and the cover defence to score
Takezawa’s second try and a quick-fire Halasili brace put the Eagles in a commanding 34-14 half-time lead but it was the Blue Revs who hit the ground running the second half
Ex-Edinburgh and Brumbies lock Douglas was at the centre of the action as his inside ball to second-row teammate saw Yuya Odo speeding through a gap and the Scotsman provided the support and was rewarded for doing so as the quick 1-2 saw him race away for the try
A brilliantly executed set move from the lineout resulted in Takezawa’s hat-trick try before Malo Tuitama responded for the Blue Revs
Kippei Ishida run a superb line to put the Eagles even further in front which meant that Kitamura’s score soon after meant little in the grand scheme of things particularly when Kriel finished off the scoring with another try at the death
The result means that the Blue Revs have now suffered their first defeat of the new season after winning their first four matches of the new campaign

If the Vodacom Bulls could choose one player as their MVP this season
they’d have a hard time coming up with a better prospect than utility back David Kriel
taking over when flyhalf Johan Goosen dropped out
taking the pressure away from Willie le Roux and on two occasions now
he has slotted last-gasp penalties to give the Bulls a victory they probably shouldn’t have gotten
Kriel’s already made inroads in the backline
playing virtually every position and giving coach Jake White a lot of options in terms of where to use him as his x-factor has often been a massive part of the Bulls' success over the past few seasons
as with the game against Benetton earlier this season
Kriel stepped up to kick in the dying seconds and gave his side a victory that was against the run of play
have earned him a call-up to the Springbok training camp and now Kriel wants to do everything in his power to get the Bulls to go one better than last season’s final
That’s why when he was congratulated after the win by his coach
he was more miffed that he hadn’t got the Bulls over the line earlier rather than soaking up the celebrations
“We've won two games that he's kicked the final kick,” White said after the match
“But his words to me was if he'd kicked the conversion and didn’t hit the pole
we wouldn't have had to worry about that penalty
I'm happy for him because you know what happens as a goal kicker
those sort of things can have scars if you miss those two kicks
we were better tonight than having to kick a penalty in the 80th minute to win the game and that was my frustration.”
White added that the big-match temperament that Kriel has is impossible to coach
well you can't coach it but you can simulate it and then you hope that a player goes
There's always been a saying in sport that you want players that when they get the penalty say
That's a sign of someone that backs himself and let's be fair
David Kriel doesn't lack belief in his own ability
definitely over 100 games for the Bulls but maybe not URC games and international games
Tonight he marked a backline that was probably the best attacking backline in the competition and not once or twice was he exposed
I think he's playing really good rugby and he's very
Kriel just smiled when told about White’s words about him
and said he was very happy to hear he is held in high esteem
I'm just extremely grateful since I came here in 2020 till now
I just don't want to let my teammates down
it feels nice to hear those words said about me
I'm just extremely grateful to do what I love and to get the opportunities that I get."
Kriel did say he was nervous in putting that one over
even though it didn’t look as if he even flinched
“I experienced a bit of pressure,” he laughed in recalling the kick
He said he could see that my hand was shaking when I got the kicking tee
I've already scored a thousand goals and I've already missed a lot
So I don't have to think about it and don't go through my processes
“I just heard Zak Burger behind me scream and then he jumped on my back
so I said thank you very much for scoring that goal and the tension that went with it
“I didn't think it was going to be too short
Kriel added that he knew the significance of the kick
stopping a two-game losing streak at Loftus Versfeld
“We lost in the Sharks and the Stormers' home game
it was a very serious task for us to get a win this weekend
and that we pulled through at the end of the day.”
As long as Kriel keeps on pulling off the wins
And his stature both in the team and outside will keep on growing
SPOTLIGHT: Bulls centre David Kriel spoke at an online media conference ahead of his side’s United Rugby Championship clash against the Lions which could see him face his brother Richard
Kriel expressed his excitement for the upcoming Trans-Jukskei derby
“Any URC derby is always a good and hard challenge,” Kriel said
“From my side and I can speak for the whole squad
we’re excited to get this derby underway
“It’s going to be a great game and one we’re looking forward to.”
He also praised the influence the returning Springbok players have on them as a squad
“It’s always nice to have the Springboks back [in the squad]
“The experience they bringing from the international stage benefits the whole squad – all 55 of us
“When they’re here you can learn from them and it definitely helps with our preparation and team selection
“It’s really a good thing to have them back.”
Kriel said his side knows what to expect from the Lions and also highlighted what the Bulls should do to contain them
“We know the Lions love to run with the ball
“Even more so that I have a brother that stays with me that’s at the Lions
“He’s told me a couple of times
but against other teams that they back themselves in running [the ball]
“We can see week in and out that they’re good at that part of their game
“We’ll have to be sharp on defence
keep our numbers on our feet and just match them physically or even dominate them
“It’s going to be a nice challenge but one we’re really excited for.”
The 25-year-old opened up on what it’s like to face his younger brother having played against him before in the Trans-Jukskei derby
“Last season we also played each other twice
I think it started there where there’s a lot more chirping at home
“I’m not seeing it me against my brother
but we’re going to do our best so we can come out on the winning side.”
When asked if he targets Richard in matches
he made it clear that there is no such intention from his side
when I step onto the field when we’re playing the Lions when Richard’s playing or if it’s any other team
I’m fully focussed on what the team needs
staying in the game plan and the style we want to play
“If Richard runs onto me or vice versa it will he a nice challenge but I wouldn’t necessarily look for him if it’s not there.”
Kriel confirmed that he had a shoulder injury
but that it’s a thing of the past and that he is up for selection
it’s quite a long story but luckily it’s healed fully now and if selected I will be playing this weekend.”

Vodacom Bulls’ David Kriel has had his red card rescinded after a hearing sat on Tuesday 15 October
Kriel was shown red in round 4 of the Vodacom United Rugby Championship where his Vodacom Bulls side was up against the Ospreys in Wales
the seating agreed that his 49th-minute incident had enough mitigation to be revoked
Thus he becomes immediately available for selection as the Tshwane outfit prepares for their second match of a three-week European tour
The Panel overseeing the disciplinary process Roddy Dunlop KC (Chair
Donal Courtney and Gordon Black (both Ireland)
found that while an act of foul play had occurred and the Player made contact with the neck area of the tackler
a combination of factors (including the Player’s attempt at a hand-off to protect himself
the speed & height of the tackling player
and the low force of the contact in question) was such that the Player had established
that a red card should not have been issued
The franchise stationed in the capital of South Africa will next tackle the Scarlets on Friday 18 October 2024 at 20:35pm CAT

Henry Pollock and his band of brothers pulled off a remarkable heist in Dublin on Leinster to make them believe anything's possible
Some cracking tries were scored on either side of the world at the elite end of club rugby over the weekend
but none could touch Valynce Te Whare’s brilliant 95-metre run for sheer power and brutality in the Shizuoka Blue Revs’ 38-28 comeback win against Yokohama Canon Eagles
But in Japan Rugby League One
which you can watch on RugbyPass TV every weekend
Te Whare was in Jonah Lomu-esque beast mode as he picked up the ball on his own five-metre line
rounded the full-back and then outstripped the cover defence
A post shared by RugbyPass (@rugbypass)
It was a particularly humbling experience for one of the best defenders in the game in the 13 channel, Springbok great Jesse Kriel
who was unceremoniously sat down by the New Zealand-qualified
former Dolphins NRL winger on his way to the line
Te Whare’s try came with the game finely poised at 24-21, to the Shizuoka Blue Revs, with just under 15 minutes to go.”Te Whare backs himself around the outside, uses Jesse Kriel as a speed bump
and he’s still going,” said awestruck RPTV commentator Dave Rogers
The 108kg winger’s league career petered out in 2024 amidst claims he wasn’t fit enough
but his cross-code switch and the move to Japan has been an unqualified success
The 24-year-old scored on debut for Shizuoka Blue Revs in December and hasn’t looked back
not even to check his rear view mirror to see the defenders trailing in his sizeable wake
The next Japan Rugby League One match to be shown on RPTV is Kubota Spears vs Saitama Wildknights
Since Scott Quinnell became the last of the big-name players to move 'North' from Wales in 1994
the direction of travel between the codes has largely been one way - from league to union

Some really weird hyperbolic nonsense commenting going on here
The guy is a proven champion and he messed up one tackle in a domestic game and got bumped
If this was a test match yeah he may well get dropped for that but if anyone is thinking that a test match coach is going to be writing off Jesse Kriel’s international career because he got bumped on one occasion in a domestic game then I have no idea what your perspective is
Have a watch of Johnny Wilkinson trying to tackle Opeti Fonua
I didn’t see the All Blacks drop 118kg Scott Barrett when he got sat down by 75kg Cheslin Kolbe
Was a Waikato NPC squad member for longer than his short NRL stint
He missed the tackle…in the act of getting sat down/pumped/steam rolled/emptied/flattened
You’d get dropped from the squad for less than that
Yes he didn’t get ‘Sat Down’ …..He got FLATTEN 😆
A 2 x World Cup winning Springbok should make those types of tackles every single time
Was the worst tackle i’ve ever seen he made kriel look like a schoolboy

Their D is better than UBB’s so grounds for hope Ed
Squad will need a utlility back who can play both
Ah
they would have taken the 3 - Leinster teams of the recent past have prob erred more on the roll of the dice from short-range lineouts
If he wasn’t injured I’d have James R starting with McCarthy
Mostert works harder and is more reliable G
Yes the pre-game commentary def did Leinster no favours
Players and coaches say they don’t read the media but they do
Surprising since the video they should have been watching was last year’s narrow squeak v the same opponents
I’d still take Saints over Bath with both on their best day Ed
Bath are good but they are not that good - c.f their result v Leinster compared to Saints
The lad is overhyped
Needs a season or two solely at club level to learn how to play the sportl as he struggles in almost every aspect of the game
Shouldn’t be anywhere near the Irish squad
Can’t lace Crowley's boots at this stage and pretty much the sole reason Ireland lost the Grand Slam
To be fair to him though - it is a common problem of the D4 player
Never as good as their thicko supporters tell you they are
They love to spew inordinate amounts of ignorant 💩 - much like the Saffas and the other SH thickos
I wouldn’t put it down to arrogance but there is def some sort of mental block there
Leinster have had tourneys with all home ties in Dublin at the knockout stage - as in 2023…
he is to thick to see it or just don’t/want to remember…….
its not because that’s what they do….
How many URC/Champions cups have they choked in not even to talk about WC’s….
you get your facts straight…… Ireland should wear their choking tag with pride
I think it’s more about winning the tournaments you have a realistic shot at winning
Leinster have been quite capable of wining the laat four EPCRs and Ireland had as much chance as anyone of winning the 23 WC
Can Les give the Wallabies the Kiss of Life?',1);"> I really do hope they manage JS to stay on at least in a formal consultancy role
Les seems to be a very capable coach but I suspect he may lack the gravitas Schmidt seems to have with the players - the kind you only get from coaching and winning at the top level for so long
Purely impressionistically (I do not have your data or powers of analysis NB!)
the Reds under Kiss seem to have some of the attacking hallmarks of a JS coached team (i.e.
but I fear they are lacking the discipline/control/mindset which JS seemed to be building with the Wallabies at the end of last year
I hope JS has enough time with the Wallabies
to instil that control/discipline before Kiss comes in
At risk of flattering the Reds/Wallabies too much
I fear they are at risk of potentially turning into a Scotland-esque team under LK - i.e.
great set plays - but lacking the killer physicality/X factor to beat the top teams
Australia does not suffer from the same problem Scotland seems to - i.e.
lacking the athletes to compete notwithstanding the team being a well-oiled machine
It would be a shame to see our physical ‘resources’ not used properly (e.g
Yup - it may have been better to start with Jordie with RG on the bench and bring him on last 25 minutes
which may be why he has been on the bench when Mostert has been fit
There is an invisible barrier there for sure
I don’t know if it applied to the 2023 QF cos the ABs had improved
but Leinster have found it a struggle for four years in a row now
Why on earth would we want Marcus S at 15
Kinghorn and Keenan the favourites I’d say
“And they're having to run a 12 month season to try and make all ends meet.”
Ok So you meant metaphorical ‘developmental’ or ‘competitiveness’ ends then
You talk about not being in SRP impacting competitiveness
You only keep highlighting SRP as being far superior and URC being low quality
No just opinion and an article written by bias journo out to smear rugby teams that aren't NZ
To say URC is worse than SRP because of how the teams fair in the Champions cups when there is no direct comparison to SRP
Just because you like watching your team play in the SRP doesn't make it a better comp
‘but the SA teams couldn't even win the SR back in the day’ yes and
They aren't the same teams as they were in the day
SA’s rugby pathways and development structures have all come along way since the SR (something I wish AU would emulate) and it's not even the same game anymore constant rule changes
Saying they suck because they lost 5 years ago ignores the fact teams can get better and the part that really irks me is that it ignores that there may be a small chance NZ and AU got worse during that time
Moving the ball out then back in again to keep th attack north-south - mostly from phase play as you can see in the second Tommy Freeman try…
Yeabo
is determined to continue proving his worth as the Springboks' international season approaches
The Potchefstroom-born Kriel could become the latest Grey College product to don the green and gold this year as he continues to impress in the United Rugby Championship.
His versatility is a major plus for his franchise
while his skillset and consistency are two more great attributes
His latest standout attribute is his goal-kicking
which on the weekend secured the Bulls a dramatic 21-20 victory over Leinster.
He recently also stepped up under pressure against Benetton
slotting a crucial late conversion to seal a win in Parma
Kriel attended the Springboks’ first alignment camp of the season
and with upcoming Tests against Italy and Georgia
he could be edging closer to a national call-up
who has undoubtedly been the Bulls’ most valued player this season
told OFM Sport that he embraces added responsibility within the team
“I haven't actually thought about it that way – to me
it’s just another weapon in my arsenal,” he said
David Kriel against the Cheetahs in the 2023 Currie Cup semi-final in Bloemfontein
“It’s an extra skillset that I can always work on
you can still contribute by kicking points
Kriel admitted he was nervous when lining up the 84th-minute penalty that handed the Irish giants Leinster their first defeat of the season
he focused on his routine to stay composed
“I was really nervous when I placed my tee,” Kriel revealed
“Devon Williams actually laughed at me because he saw my hand shaking as I tried to place the tee
David Kriel in the URC final against the Glasgow Warriors in 2024
Experience plays a big role—especially after the pressure kick against Benetton
“I’m just grateful to be in those situations
And I have the forward pack to thank for that
they dominated the scrum to win that penalty.
“I’m just fortunate to have a great pack putting me in those positions
The Bulls will face Zebre at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday at 14:45
OFM Sport/Morgan Piek mvh
That’s exactly how Vodacom Bulls Director of Rugby Jake White feels after a Vodacom United Rugby Championship disciplinary committee overturned David Kriel’s red card on Wednesday after a hearing that involved submissions from the Bulls themselves
The midfielder was red carded rather inexplicably for extending his arm to try and fend off an Ospreys defender
hitting him at the top of his chest and the bottom part of the neck
and while referee Eoghan Cross initially didn’t flag it as dangerous
repeated replays at the stadium and a baying crowd made him not only change his mind
but award Kriel his first red card of his career
but held on to win the game 29-19 and immediately began working on trying to overturn Kriel’s sanction
On Wednesday a disciplinary committe overturned the decision
exonerating Kriel from any sanction because of the red card
No 12) received a Red Card in the 49th minute of the game under Law 9.11 – Players must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others including leading with the elbow or forearm
“The Panel overseeing the disciplinary process Roddy Dunlop KC (Chair
a combination of factors (including the Player's attempt at a hand-off to protect himself
the Player is now free to play and available for selection this weekend.”
While White didn’t select Kriel for the Bulls’ next game against the Scarlets on Friday night
he admitted on Thursday he felt “vindicated” by the result and praised the URC and their disciplinary process
We spoke to (URC head of referees) Tappe Henning and he agreed
It was what coaches want with a situation like this
to be able to state your case in front of a competent judiciary
The way they handled it was professional and an incredible step forward for us.”
White went on to say normally there was a fear that by defending a red card
you would be “poking the bear” of the judiciary and could worsen the prospects of a light sanction
“It was great to be able to present a legitimate case
when there is always a fear that by doing so you would be ‘poking the bear’ at the hearing if you argue and there is a fear you may make it worse
But the way it was seen and handled was very professional
players don’t want a red card next to their name in their careers
and while they may accept a more lenient sentence
the record of a red card stays on their profile forever
I’d like to say I was happy with the outcome and that as a coach we could present a legitimate case
“That is not an indictment on the officials
We are happy with the way it has been dealt with this week.”
White made several changes to his side to face the Scarlets
hoping to keep up their unbeaten record thus far in the competition on Friday night

says he is not having any sleepless nights over allegations of fresh Investigations by the Hawks
Kriel was responding to a statement by the Hawks who confirmed that they were indeed probing four dockets of high treason
The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party and other parties or individuals are said to have registered the complaints following allegations that US President Donald Trump was misled about the land issue
accusing it of human rights abuses against Afrikaners
He says the allegations against the Afrikaaner organizations
the Solidarity movement and AfriForum among others
are baseless and they will prove them in a court of law
Kriel says before going to seek help from the US
they wrote countless letters to President Cyril Ramaphosa
The intention was to seek his audience over Land Expropriation and BELA Acts among others
While Hawks Head General Godfrey Lebeya did not want to be drawn into whom the cases of High Treason were opened against
he says the priority crimes unit will not hesitate to arrest anyone should the prosecutorial authority find High Treason was committed
we are apolitical when it comes to the complaint
We don’t discriminate whether they belong to a political party or not
There are four dockets opened by different people
that concern some individuals who may have crossed the border and communicated some things that may seem to be in the direction of high treason
I don’t want to mention the names of organisations
there are some organisations that are suspected of actually advocating for high treason
We are still at the initial stage of the investigation of those crimes
but we need to be careful how we collect that evidence.”
PRETORIA - Reaction to US President Donald Trump's comments about land seizures in South Africa continues
Trump claimed on Sunday that government was 'confiscating' land and 'mistreating certain classes of people
but provided no evidence to support the allegations
READ: Trump says 'no guarantees' Gaza truce will hold ahead of Netanyahu visit
And in response to these unfounded statements
civil rights group AfriForum has called on the United State to impose sanctions on ANC leaders over the land reform policies
Afriforum's Kallie Kriel spoke to eNCA.
The Vodacom Bulls felt vindicated as a Vodacom United Rugby Championship disciplinary committee rescinded the red card given to midfielder David Kriel during Saturday night’s win over the Ospreys in Swansea
The card, which perplexed many and created a lot of debate on social media, came as Kriel attempted to hand off a defender and instead ended up striking him in the throat. While the ref and assistant referees both thought the hand off was ok, a string of television replays and a baying crowd convinced referee Eoghan Cross to review the incident and stunningly handed Kriel his first red card of his career.
While coach Jake White and several other commentators believed it wasn’t worthy of a card, it forced the Bulls onto the back foot, but they regrouped and still won the game 29-19.
“The Player (David Kriel, No 12) received a Red Card in the 49th minute of the game under Law 9.11 – Players must not do anything that is reckless or dangerous to others including leading with the elbow or forearm, or jumping into, or over, a tackler,” the ruling read.
“As a result, the Player is now free to play and available for selection this weekend.”
Kriel’s exoneration is a massive boost for the Bulls ahead of their second tour game against the Scarlets in Llanelli on Friday night and he is all but certain to take his place at 12 for the match.
Given the Bulls have already lost Gerhard Steenekamp and Elrigh Louw to concussion for the game, the Kriel boost will be a massive mood booster for the side, which is bound to show a few changes for the match this weekend.
The fact that Jan-Hendrik Wessels was up for media duty this week normally means the Bok will be part of the match day 23, while Devon Williams’ arrival to join the team is possibly too late for this weekend and he will only feature in the final tour match next weekend.
The Bulls will name their side on Friday for the clash.
Neil de Beer says Police Minister Senzo Mchunu is licking his lips for the return of AfriForum's Kallie Kriel from the Afrikaners' latest mission to the US amid a dispute over farm murder statistics
"…there's a little bit of a facial expression from Mchunu that this is not just about a discrepancy
but this is about: I'm waiting for you." As for criticism from other Cabinet ministers
he says: "I sometimes think that these ministers that are going through allegations – and there are more than 20
30 of them – they actually beg that people like AfriForum go run around the world and cause mayhem
they're not the story." De Beer slams the very poor performance of National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) boss Shamila Batohi whose term ends in January 2026 – and lists some of the "walking hyenas that are still around here and some of them disgustingly still being leadership"
he calls on Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald to review the parole of the long-time "terminally ill" Shabir Shaik who "has become a biological miracle and must be captured and put into a museum"
he urges Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana to introduce cost-cutting measures
"but you have to have nuts to cut"
De Beer also shares details of an hour-and-half long conversation he had with former President Jacob Zuma's Private Secretary
following his interview with BizNews – and the purges being executed by SG Floyd Shivambu in one faction and Duduzile Zuma in another

In a dynamic conversation on the BizNews Sunday Show
Neil de Beer discusses a range of current political and societal issues
The conversation opens with Neil's reflection on his recent visit to Mossel Bay
emphasising South Africa's natural beauty and the need for better management
He then delves into the controversial issue of Afrikaner groups like AfriForum and Solidariteit
who have faced backlash after their efforts to bring attention to farm murders in the United States
These groups are criticised by South African officials
who questions the accuracy of their crime statistics
The conversation shifts to the challenges of accountability within the South African government
particularly around ministers facing allegations of corruption
Neil expresses frustration with the slow pace of justice and cites several high-profile cases
such as the BOSASA scandal and the Zondo Commission's findings
which have led to no significant prosecutions
He also criticises the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) under Shamila Batohi
questioning its effectiveness and the lack of consequences for figures like the Guptas
Neil discusses the leadership transition within the Freedom Front Plus
with Corné Mulder taking over from Pieter Groenewald
known for his advocacy of Cape Independence
The conversation concludes with an intriguing development: a private conversation Neil had with former President Jacob Zuma's secretary
who describes a tense and fractured environment within the ANC and MK
hinting at potential splits within the organisation
Welcome to another Sunday Show with Neil de Beer
BizNews favourite and of course the President of the United Independent Movement
I'm at a beautiful place near Mossel Bay called Dana Baai in a guest house
if you look at Mossel Bay en Hartenbos and the period I was here
again reiterating what a beautiful country we have
that we don't have to go overseas to see the most beautiful
but we just need to change that bloody management
So blessings to everybody from this area and yeah
Shall we start with Die Groot Trek to America
obviously we have been bombarded again with the groupings of delegations
everybody except government going to the United States of America because seemingly hulle wil nie hulle daar hê nie
we have moved into an era of a grouping of words
it is absolutely sparking something in our heritage that we are looking at in a Neanderthal way
you are getting a sense that there is a massive scenario of a
Afrikanership in this country that has gone over to 16 Valve
And we have seen now this week the absolute onslaught on Solidariteit and AfriForum in the United States
seeing people on Capitol Hill reporting what they are reporting and then this flurry of attack from South Africa saying
but it's treason – and they should be charged with treason and take responsibility now for the cancellation of America for ARV and HIV tablets for the people that are now going to die
And that was now humped onto that conclave on saying
And now the latest Chris is that we now hear that it's not just South Africa and the Afrikaners that are waiting for the imminent return of this delegation to America
who now got involved two days ago and said that he is also counting the minutes waiting for this delegation
It's because he is interested to understand the stats of crime that was apparently presented by this delegation on farm murders
is in direct conflict with the police stats issued by his ministry very recently
there's a little bit of a facial expression from Mchunu that this is not just about a discrepancy
So there's the possible first strike on the opinion of government that AfriForum and their conclave have absolutely nothing to do in the United States that this should be done by the official channel
Corné Mulder in a discussion put it the best
as long as this country has freedom of expression and association
how do you stop certain segments from going where they want to be democratically to express their position
Our only problem is this is not going away
And I don't think the government knows at this moment what to do
but exciting to see what happens on their return
And I think we need to look at that very closely because that is definitely not going to stop in my opinion
Another minister who's very upset with the behaviour of this delegation is one in the Presidency
But there has been quite a silence on ministers facing allegations
I sometimes think that these ministers that are going through allegations and there are more than 20
they actually beg that people like AfriForum go run around the world and cause mayhem
that this programme will never stop on a monthly basis to go back and to say that accountability of the executive and specifically people in Cabinet
Ons is soos 'n pitbull op 'n skyfie van 'n ou se agterbeen
We are not going to stop saying that that exact minister in the Presidency
who is charged by the way to be in Head of Intelligence within this country
but is now one of the first people to get onto the massive soapbox and say they guilty and she would like to see a photo of Kallie Kriel and Donald Trump as evidence
we would like to then while he is taking that kiekie
we would like to see your declaration of not guilty as well on record very soon
but it also goes for the other ministers who were blatantly charged
one of them moved from one position of Justice to another position because investigated for possible taking money from VBS
we will go back continually to say to Cryil Ramaphosa
is he going to do the Phala Phala clearance or is he not
it is easy for you to the pot calling the kettle black when both of you are currently still sitting under a massive cloud and we as the BizNews Show are not going to let you
Talking about people getting stuck in allegations and it never going any further down the justice system
We're looking at the retirement in January of the NPA boss
I got an honourary certificate in law when I was sitting through the saddest and most tragic trial of Oscar Pistorius
did we not sit and watch Barry Roux and Gerrie Nell in that court case
And I remember while we were watching this absolute fight between two
I remember us sitting around the table and going
dolos directos and dolos eventualis and de facto and prima facie and we became lawyers and everybody said
there's no prima facie and daars nie dolos and directos nie
that when you look at where we are in the prosecuting level of this country
into this new Latin two phrases called et nauseam
So here we sitting with et nausea of lists of people that should be in jail
And I'll start with a couple just to create et nausea for you this morning
Laat ek darem nou nie die enigste arme naar mens is in die land nie
listening to the other gentleman that was in BOSASA delivering scathing evidence after evidence of people receiving meat
cash – and they are in the ANC and worst of it Chris some of them are currently in the Top Six of the ANC and they've never been charged
The Zondo Commission cost this country 1,3 billion Rand
So much so het ons hulle gedruk that Soekie Cyril popped up probably for the first time and took another oath and said that the ANC is accused number one
I think when he landed the people thought it's one of those plants
And then Chris they leak a voice note where Chris
Where this Cyril guy is sitting in a meeting and he actually says
that there is an absolute guiltiness of the ANC using State money to campaign for the ANC
Now if there is any way that I would like to ask Oom Pieter
I would like to ask the Honourable Minister
that we could do a little bit of a review on a single human being that has become a biological miracle and must be captured and put into a museum
Because we have a walking dead man here called Shabir Shaik
who was told that he is imminently going to die
So therefore got medical parole after being let go in the Jacob Zuma trial and Chris apparently this man is even well enough to play golf
So I would like to see the revisiting of his parole conditions Dr
The National Prosecuting Authority seemingly has given up
And if it was a grouping of people that were just in and out of the country and probably committed fraud once or twice
this was a summary of warthogs that were encapsulated in one family that vreted our fruits of our Treasury as if it's going to become hakuna matata tomorrow
They ate us to such a state that we didn't have even a banana left to peel
they're not in custody and they're not in the Republic
So we are knowing that they were hobnobbing around India and then sparking around probably in wetsuits in Dubai
So I'm sorry when I look at the NPA and I look at Shamila Batohi and I look at her history
Her opening statement when she was appointed by the President was
this is like being thrown into shark infested waters
when a mongoose falls into a pit of cobras
the only wish you've got is that the mongoose remains a mongoose
And I hope that with this new attitude of a GNU
that one of the real showcases they will do is when they appoint a new leader of the NPA
that this person truly will be blind justice
standing with a sword and the scales that will tip in favour of the people of this country to be defended with
These walking hyenas that are still around here and some of them disgustingly still being leadership
and he no longer being leader of the Freedom Front
How do you see the future of FF Plus now with Corné Mulder leading the party
I must tell you I was for a short while of my life part of sport and specifically SA Rugby
And there was always a golden rule that says a great rugby player
There's a time to come and there's a time to go
they don't come back – and then they create that instant legacy of this is who I was
who has been the president for probably since Queen Victoria
And I think Pieter Groenewald has taken the right decision
I would like to focus on being the minister because he has been asked to stay on by the president because it's the president's prerogative
he has parted and given on the baton to the new generation
So if you look at the new chairman and to the people that have taken up
So this is a good thing that he said he needs to
the battle for a municipal election takes much more energy than a national election
I think he has a lot of value still and bring value still to that Ministry
different style of leadership will always refer to that gentleman as a statesman
has never stepped out of line in the sense of being a gentleman
now the longest serving member of Parliament in the history of South Africa
their future will turn into a slightly different direction
he has always been a person that understands self-rule
He is a huge supporter of the Cape Independence theory
He has always blatantly supported it and that has caused at times rifts between the leadership
We also know that he doesn't take well to being dictated to on certain principles and that's why as the Cape leader then of the Freedom Front Plus we had a lot of ruffling between him and the DA – and I know that very well between him and the leadership that he will not be dictated to and that he is a man that stands on his principles and if he doesn't get it
you know the other Corné the one that you don't frequently see pops up and I've seen that Corné as well; it's…
…quite frightening when he becomes that very
I had a very interesting interview last week with former president Jacob Zuma's private secretary
We haven't had a chance to talk about that
double shot of coffee and nearly killing myself from throttling when I saw the number
I would love to come to Parliament under MK
So things going through your mind when you see Private Secretary
I took the call and one and a half hours with this man and what came out of it
Well firstly you and then tell you what's going on on the inner circle
But then taking it a step further to wanting to talk to me from a MK historic Mandela perspective
This has become now an attraction to the show that people that want to expose
And that is honourable and humbling from my side
This is what I look like in saying a clean up like we had the Night of the Generals
there are two sides purging at the same time
who is purging people and trying to get rid of their enemies
…who has been for two years the Private Secretary to Jacob Zuma
So what you now have is a clear understanding that this monstrosity of an entity that was created to be this draconian dark side waiting to take over on nationalism and socialism and communism
sommer elke ism that they can find and get a print t-shirt sponsor
that this is actually now coming into the nitty gritty of inner DNA fight
And Isaac declared that they're going to collapse
a person also has to look at from whom it comes
But I got the feeling at this moment that this is to the deepest heart side in MK
And if there was ever a three to five to six months survival kit that had to be pulled out
And there is a scenario where he says that a huge part of MK will break away
The reason they are at MK level is because they left the ANC
And there were a lot of things that we spoke about from the days of the Struggle
and a meeting of minds at the end of the day to agree that no matter the party position you are in in this country
that the real end goal was unification and reconciliation
And we are the calm moderates in the middle and looking at these fascist sides of the right and the left and going
I think MK has got to now finally face die kasterolie
drink hulle lewensenssens and get ready for a rough ride
the nation is on tender hooks for a revised budget next week
I don't know if you remember the game that you used to go and you there were two
the thing you press and then the ball comes down and clink
And everything he's trying is ping-ponging and unfortunately the bloody thing tilted.… Now
You can now paint this zebra what color you want
So I'm telling you he tried to suck his deficit money from the poor
And to such a point that his own people said
Chris then decides he's going to go directly to the opposite side
He's now going to tax the people who are currently in his scenario wealthy
who are by the way probably the biggest company owners
he's now going to chow them and then take that money from them
This obviously also gets a pushback because not all of the people that are chowable are in the conclave of white minority capital because he'll have to start with Phala Phala himself first and then Uncle Patrice Motsepe and Tokyo Sexwale and all the other stalwarts
So that wouldn't rise well with them own because remember they don't do on themselves which they want to have done on others
…Pension Fund looks lucrative and attractive
I now understand that the State Pension funds which you know are worth billions in this country are now looking very attractable to Enoch
I think anything that whappers cash -even if it was a ten rand note on a broken cactus of a tequila plant in Mexico would look attractive to Godongwana because he needs money
And that is that is where we are at the barrel and at the scraping of the bottom
at the bottom there's normally a piece that's burnt
claim it as a holiday resort and pick coconuts
Because every day we hear of another 80 million
that we are sitting with a minister who is walking around like Alice in Wonderland
knowing that this briefcase that he carries into parliament that he's supposed to carry the bloody budget
is in actual fact a pumpkin ready to explode at 12
that money that was looted could actually cover the deficit if he really tried to
but it doesn't seem that he wants to cut on himself
He doesn't want to cut the four billion for blue lights and VIP protection
He doesn't want to cut the housing subsidies
He doesn't want to cut the salaries of ministers
that if you take this man Enoch Godongwana with his hat which probably cost 23,000 rand and you put him in a Shoprite attending queue to look after the people just selling Oros
Because this is what South Africans are thinking
when you have a business and you are currently spending more than what you get
the first thing the CFO does is he calls the board and he says we have to do cost cutting measures
cost cutting measures and cost cutting measures is clear
Stop the members of parliament from getting lunch
they can go get their own chow and bring their own WeetBix
And as I understand that is a painful scenario
if we don't start cutting the nuts in this country

The South African story we tell ourselves now is just as bad as the last one
The latest controversy surrounding EFF leader Julius Malema and his chant of “Kill the Boer” (an incredibly controversial chant) underscores this perfectly
On social media, debate has raged over Malema once again leading the chant at an EFF rally in Sharpeville on Human Rights Day, 21 March 2025. Some argue it is part of the anti-apartheid movement’s history, while others find it irresponsible for someone of Malema’s stature.advertisementDon't want to see this? Remove ads
Legally, the matter has been settled: the chant is not considered hate speech
but that does not mean it is ethically unproblematic
there are some glaring ways in which the argument is framed that merit consideration
The argument that resurfaces whenever this controversy arises is that Malema and AfriForum’s Kallie Kriel are two sides of the same coin, and so we should “fight against white domination and black domination”
This is disingenuous and fundamentally misunderstands black South Africans
their relationship to white South Africans and
Those who believe in the Rainbow Nation as the foundation of post-apartheid South Africa often assume that racism “cuts both ways”
sanitised mythologies of Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu
two figures sometimes framed as believing oppression to be abstract and universal rather than historically and materially specific
it is easy to see how Malema’s chant can be viewed as racial provocation: “race-baiting” at best
But that is not how black South Africans who support Malema perceive it
it cannot happen without grappling with why Malema has a captive audience
It is a country with a specific set of oppressions that make up its DNA
Apartheid was a system designed to advantage white South Africans in every sphere of society while disadvantaging black South Africans
just with the explicit blessing of the British Empire
These dual systems of oppression left black South Africans impoverished
They were relegated to Bantustans where the standard of living was abysmal
They were not even seen as citizens of the country in which they were the majority
Sharpeville on 21 March takes on profound meaning
And for all Malema’s many flaws (and there are many)
He understands the power of holding a rally there
He understands that black people need to commemorate their fallen compatriots as a way of still processing the pain of apartheid
especially when in 2025 many black South Africans remain unemployed and go to bed hungry
Leading the chant was probably a publicity stunt
Malema has never shied away from attention
He is a narcissist who has a stranglehold on the EFF leadership even to the possible detriment of his movement
But two things are true at once: it can also be a way for black people to affirm their history; to assert that their Struggle did not end with a negotiated settlement
Malema will never be mistaken for Statesman of the Year
even as a wealthy politician in designer suits and who sends his children to private schools
He understands it because he has lived it and still sees it
Every black South African knows someone who cannot find work, whether or not they have matric, whether or not they have a degree. Many of those people have dependants who go to sleep hungry. For them, the Rainbow Nation is not an inspiring ideal. It is a cruel joke.advertisementDon't want to see this? Remove ads
They expected more than cosmetic diversity and symbolic representation
That’s something the ANC failed to deliver
And while some of their anger is (rightfully) directed at the ANC
much of it is also (just as rightfully) aimed at the system that made such radical change necessary in the first place
It should be obvious (except to disingenuous right-wing propaganda groups and their sympathisers) that black pain and trauma do not translate into mass violence against white people
“Kill the Boer” is clearly not a directive or an incitement
strengthens their resolve to stand tall against ongoing injustice
Reducing this moment to “Malema led that dangerous chant again” is not just simplistic
It is an active misreading of the black South Africans who resonate with it
The sanitised Mandela/Tutu mythology persists in part because it contains some truth. Mandela’s inaugural presidential speech in 1994 included the iconic line: “Never, never and never again shall it be that this beautiful land will again experience the oppression of one by another.”
It was declaring South Africa as a country committed to eradicating all forms of discrimination
it is a soundbite that further solidified Mandela’s stature as a man worthy of praise and admiration
Mandela was not just declaring the end of apartheid: he was reassuring white South Africans that the ANC government would not pursue vengeance
Successive administrations have upheld this principle
successive ANC governments only condemn these forces when their racism is undeniable
they remain hesitant — fearful of alienating white business interests
unspoken rule: racism will not be forcefully challenged if it might jeopardise the economy
it is an indictment of the system that created an economy where structural racism remains profitable
That is the political landscape in which Malema operates
And it is why he continues to have an audience
Kallie Kriel’s organisation, AfriForum, enjoys financial backing from roughly 300,000 people every month. He is regularly featured in mainstream media. His group has influenced key court cases. He even managed to successfully lobby US President Donald Trump. Despite not being a politician, Kriel is a powerful political actor in South Africa
when Malema leads a chant — at an event with deep historical significance — suddenly we hear about responsibility
The appeal to responsibility towards Malema is fair and just
But it is telling that Kriel and his ilk are seldom held to the same standard
This is Rainbow Nation politics in action — black leaders are expected to exercise restraint
while white leaders (no matter how inflammatory) are rarely treated as a national threat
“social cohesion” is not about genuine interracial solidarity
It is about trade-offs: endure systemic — and sometimes interpersonal — inequality in exchange for the symbolic progress of a few more black CEOs
We coexist by wearing Springbok jerseys together during Rugby World Cup games
and by Siya Kolisi being called a quota hire when the Boks lose a single game
We coexist by wanting a “diversity of opinions”
and by purposefully overlooking the person who’ll call out the systemic inequalities present
We coexist by having a formerly whites-only school accept more black learners
and by being squeamish at the very prospect of the school being composed of predominantly black learners
for fear it’ll diminish the “reputation” of the school
And so the question is not whether Kallie Kriel validates Julius Malema
It is to what extent someone like Kallie Kriel is responsible for someone like Julius Malema
Kallie Kriel never sings “Kill the Bantu
Afriforum has assisted people of other races
including many black farmers and even forced the ANC to build a school for the children of Nkungumathe
The comparison of Malema and Kriel is bizarre
as is the author’s knowledge of the terrible events at Sharpeville
Apartheid did produce the best educated and developed black majority on Earth
and handed an economy and infrastructure to them in 1994
bigger than those of all of the rest of Africa combined
Kill the People has no meaning that makes sense
Anyone of any race or colour who shouts “Kill” aimed at a specific race or creed
Bantu speakers are also referred to as Bantu people
That word is just as loaded by our history as “boer” is
“Bantu” was just a more polite way of saying “k…ir”
So it just goes to show…some things never change …different rules for different people…so much for “reconciliation” and blame everything on Apartheid forever
Get over it and get on with trying to stay alive on this wonderful planet that we take for granted and are trashing – a much more important concern
which is sadly lacking in most debate in SA
Apartheid is still very real to millions of South Africans in their memories and daily struggles (perpetuated
aided and abetted by the ANC and its corruption)
They still commemorate Poppy Day in the UK
The Orange Order in Ulster still marches every year in commemoration of sectarian violence from 1795 – or 230 years ago
No leader in Europe walks around advocating the killing of Germans
No Afrikaner leader in SA promotes the murder of English speakers
and no political leader ever built a party based on the murder of black people
Do you know how many murders/killings by the apartheid security forces were reported by the ANC/PAC/Azapo for the era 1948-1990 to the UN HRC
It’s insane to compare to world wars
which were both started to fight people like Malema
including a comparison with “free Africa” by 1994
From memory the official figure of killings between 1948 and 1990 was 7,500
The years between 1990 and April 1994 in the “election campaign” it was reported that the ANC killed more than 15,000 to neutralise the SACP and Inkatha
And the point the author makes is that Malema is singing it in a Struggle tradition
evoking the unfinished business of the lack of transformation in South Africa
with his affinity for luxuries beyond his means
and was part of an ANC that has continued to destroy the hopes of most South Africans is a different argument
I thought the article was insightful and nuanced – without having to agree with all of it
He is comparing Malema to Kriel as if they are the same or even remotely comparable
If I now am unhappy about ANC race policies and the fact that more people are murdered and raped than before 1994
I cannot and will not sing any song about killing black people or ANC members as I now struggle against the ANC and call it a song in struggle tradition and pain and whatever and claim I want SA to be as transformed wrt business
It can never be “understood” to sing such racist calls for genocide
we can all sing and dance aggressive tribal songs of our ancestors
Only one group if you like is singing a genocide song
Unless you’re “coloured”
you have no original right to the land that is now SA
but you’re still applying a “favouritism” to one side – if the rules are not equal; you won’t get equality
so many words just to be able to justify Malema’s racism
Do you want to live with your victim mentality forever
I was in the position of the 20/30 policemen at Sharpeville with an angry horde storming – not to bring flowers and tea
Remember Cato Ridge 47 days before when the 9 policemen (5 were black) were hacked and clubbed to death just because they were policemen doing their job
That is why 89 Sharpeville mob members were shot – they should be fortunate that it was only so few that the police killed in defence of teir own lives
What an incredibly long and convoluted attempt to justify the unjustifiable
The only relevant truth is that racial rhetoric will never solve our country’s problems; it will simply lead to more suffering for everyone
The only solution is for us all to work together
This is a very powerful and well written article
Reading the article in its entirety provides a very good
balanced insight into the historical pain and struggle of black South Africans
I don’t agree entirely with the article
but I do think it’s an honest and accomplished effort to place key issues into context
I don’t see anyone here criticising the author’s style – it in fact is very good
the point is the arguments that he makes in trying to justify Malema’s “kill the boer”
The context has changed in 1994 – he by now has to blame the ANC for the mess they have created
so why not sing “kill the ANC”
it should be a new “struggle” by now…
Juli-arse wants power so he stirs emotions
Like the 18yr old Zim war vets taking farms
The anc has had power in (and destroyed) SA
Cannot condone continual hate and fighting words
Imagine it was the other way around… yoh
I guess Wiseman is one of those that took the hand outs by the Cecil John Rhodes foundations / university but hates the man
I grew up in a household that hated everything English because of the killing of 28,500 women and children (1899-1902) and then the jail term and internment by the Crown idiot Jan Smuts of my father
You cannot move forward while you look and hate backwards
Ask the Indian population about colonialism
Maybe the idea of a separate Western Cape and the Afriforum movement
is rather a serious indictment of the ANC and other black organisations total and utter failure to develop anything
There is also the long history of black violence against white people
The Groot Trek started because of Xhosa incursions across the Kei river and the (farm)murders
The more we all work on understanding each other the stronger our nation will become
I have found reading books by people who lost their land
Certainly Kriel and AfriForum taking their complaints to Trump has been very detrimental to strong race relations – probably more damaging than Malema’s chant
We need to stop shaking fists and shouting at each other and start embracing each other
Racism is unacceptable whether it is white on black or black on white
Both Malema and Kriel need to be sanctioned and told unequivocally that we cannot tolerate either if we ever going to make this country a true rainbow nation
However we must stop blaming apartheid for all the ills of our country
The ANC has been in power for 30 years and surely should have improved the situation for previously disadvantaged persons by now
Unfortunately they are only interested in their own wealth creation
Kriel is just looking for proof of a long held belief
but 50 years ago teenage me was hearing talk from adults about how a day would come when our servants would rise up & slit our throats in the night
This has been passed down through generations
By now you’d think that people would have noticed that the prophecy has not materialised
there is only one thing worse than being talked about
Continuous focus on our sad history is counter productive
industries like Mittal long steel and many others folding
influential leaders like Malema would do the country a far greater service if they would focus on productivity instead of destruction
Without entrepreneurial spirit having “the land” serves little purpose if other factors of production are not present
So Malema doesnt have the leadership skills to take this country forward
