The young son of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson had to be treated at the public hospital of Karystos, on the island of Evia, Sunday.
Johnson “thanked us and congratulated us about the quality of our hospital,” hospital director Dimitris Saravanos posted on social media, also uploading photos of Johnson, his family and health personnel.
Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis also posted about the event, saying that Johnson’s 6-year-old son was treated for an injury.
According to Georgiadis, Johnson said that the services provided to his son were superior to those that the UK’s National Health System provides.

The Greek authorities are confirming reports that a tanker laden with Russian oil collided with a cargo ship this morning, December 24, in the area of the Kafireas Strait, south of Karystos. The circumstances of the incident are unclear at this time, but the reports indicate the crews were not injured, and both ships sustained minor damage.
The identity of the tanker was not supplied, but reports stated it is loaded with a cargo of over 131,000 tons of crude coming from Novorossiysk, Russia. It seems to indicate a Suezmax size tanker which is common among the so-called shadow fleet. The registry of the vessel and the nationalities of the 26 crewmembers were not reported.
Greek authorities are saying the tanker was reporting that it was bound for the port of Castellón, Spain. Greece over the past few months has made efforts to disrupt ship-to-ship oil transfers that the tankers transporting Russian oil were carrying out in Greek waters. However, it has remained a hotspot for the shadow tanker fleet.
The cargo ship, which was involved in the incident, is reported to been sailing empty from Italy to Constanta, Romania. A crew of 22 was aboard.
The officials referenced “adverse weather conditions” saying that the two vessels were unable to anchor off Karystos due to conditions and had been directed to proceed to Piraeus. The Greek authorities it is believed will detain the vessels for an inspection and investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
The damage is believed to be minor and above the waterline on both vessels. There are no reports of an oil spill or other forms of pollution at this time.

The settlement presents evidence of habitation and use both during the Late Neolithic and in the beginning stages of the Early Bronze Age
while it is believed to be able to provide valuable information to archaeologists about the details of human life and the technology used during that time
According to the report the buildings have stone walls
and there appears to be an oven alongside an array of portable objects
whose project is funded by the Norwegian Institute of Athens
has uncovered two clay anthropomorphic figurines
artifacts made of different types of stone as well as human and animal bones
a grave steles site dated back to the Classical Years were discovered during another excavation conducted at a Classical era cemetery in Xobourgo on the island of Tinos
The steles are considered to be of high importance as they will provide information on the classical sculpture history of the island
are the link between the history of ancient sculpture and the tradition of modern Tinos sculpture
“The cemetery is situated at the southeastern foothills of Xobourgo and was the main cemetery of ancient settlement that developed in the Classical era,” the Greek Culture Ministry’s announcement wrote

“This mast which has been installed next to us is an omen of catastrophe”
The mountaineer’s views are one of a host of obstacles to efforts to boost wind power across the European Union
As parts of Europe reel from devastating flooding and Germany’s chancellor Angela Merkel says governments must redouble their efforts to tackle the impact of climate change
developers and governments are racing to capture green power investment
bureaucratic red tape and legal tangles in the permitting process – to the point where the EU is veering off track for its emissions-cutting goals
The EU has unveiled ambitious plans to cut carbon dioxide emissions by 55 per cent by 2030
which will mean renewable sources in its energy generation should increase to 40 per cent
it needs 27 gigawatts of new wind capacity – enough to meet almost one-third of European electricity demand – to be installed every year
That’s nearly double the 15 gigawatts currently put in place annually
an association that represents the industry in Europe
The drive to speed up renewable energy is pitting greens against each other
policy director for the World Wide Fund for Nature in Greece
said the country decided belatedly to shut down its coal plants and is now racing to build up renewables at the risk of hurting its biodiversity
the EU and Britain invested €43bn (£37bn) in new wind farms – the second highest annual amount on record after 2016
Banks lent over €21bn (£18bn) for the construction of new wind farms – the most ever
“The problem is not money: there is lots of money available,” said Giles Dickson
“The problem is the projects: we are not getting enough new permitted projects coming through.”
The EU Commission has recognised that
The EU’s renewable energy directive says it should not take more than two years to grant a permit for a power plant
But these timelines have yet to be fully implemented
The Commission says it is trying to speed things up. However, some of its plans need to be negotiated by 27 EU countries and the European Parliament
Worldwide, according to the Global Wind Energy Council, new wind capacity needs to be installed at about twice the current rate if the globe is to meet a goal in the Paris Agreement climate pact of limiting temperature rise to below 2C this century
“I think (permitting) is one of the key factors that could potentially slow down the energy transition,” Miguel Stilwell de Andrade
chief executive of Portuguese energy company Energias de Portugal (EDP) SA which develops renewable energy
“If we want to meet the Paris Agreement targets we really need to find a way of making sure that permitting is efficient
Mr Baltas and other Greek campaigners object to eight new wind farms
planned to span 80 km (50 miles) over an area which encompasses a pristine fir forest overlooking the Aegean
They say it will ruin acres of ancient forests
and turn a largely agricultural region into an industrial zone
They are also fighting the fact that the Greek government
trying to avoid the delays that hobble some developments
fast-tracked the application to build 100 turbines
adding to 600 already in place on the island
aiming for renewables to help transform the country’s economy
wants to shorten its permitting process to about two to three years
That’s down from the eight years more typical for such schemes in Greece
according to the Hellenic Wind Energy Association
As falling costs have made wind power attractive
According to the International Renewable Energy Agency
an intergovernmental organisation that supports countries in their transition to sustainable energy
the overall cost of new projects both onshore and offshore roughly halved in the decade to 2020
which has high winds from the Caucasus and Aegean Sea and is only about 80 km from the mainland power grid
“There is a very strong interest in renewable energy sources,” said Greece’s secretary general for energy Alexandra Sdoukou. Greece hopes renewable energy will help secure power ahead of a shutdown of coal-fired plants by 2025.
Other countries are also trying to streamline procedures to help win access to some of the EU’s €750bn (£648bn) post-pandemic recovery fund – which will only be disbursed if projects move ahead.
Greece’s fast-track process is no guarantee of a license, the government’s investment agency said. An environmental impact assessment will happen later.
Elsewhere in the EU, it can take as long as a decade for wind projects on land to be greenlighted, case studies provided by the industry show. In at least one country, Sweden, the Wind Energy Association says it’s not unusual for the process to take even longer, because municipalities can vote on projects and there is no legal deadline for appeals processes to end.
For offshore projects, negotiations with businesses such as fishing, tourism and shipping mean the permitting processes can take up to six years, said Jonathan Cole, head of offshore wind at Spanish energy company Iberdrola SA. For projects on land, problems range from rules that require turbines to be certain distances away from buildings to local disputes.
In one case in Germany, WindEurope said, permissioning was so slow that by the time the farm was greenlighted, the turbine model in the plans was obsolete. Updated height restrictions meant the developer had to dismantle part-built foundations, as well as persuading the manufacturer to revive an old model.
In another German example, renewables developer Abo Wind AG applied to build a wind project south of Frankfurt in 2016. The plan was initially rejected due to a risk to black stork habitats. After back-and-forth legal actions and appeals with the local authority, the company says the wind farm will be built next year.
“This project is a prime example of why wind power expansion in Germany suffers,” said ABO Wind executive Kristof Frank. “Courts are overburdened and there’s not enough personnel to quickly handle the numerous processes.”
A spokeswoman for Germany’s economic affairs ministry said almost half Germany’s electricity is supplied by renewable sources, but that Germany must accelerate the implementation of green energy. This will be the task of the next government, she added. The current government has pushed four laws to speed up new infrastructure through parliament, but nothing major has changed.
Germany does not have enough qualified experts in local administration, people in the industry say. And when its strong environmental laws slow down new wind farms, they divide the green movement.
Italy is the biggest recipient of the EU’s recovery resources. To meet targets agreed under the EU’s Green Deal plan to become the first climate-neutral continent, it needs to add at least seven gigawatts of renewable capacity every year, compared with a recent average of less than one gigawatts per year. It has identified almost €60bn (£52) of projects for that funding.
But a group of European renewable energy associations says almost half of all renewables projects are abandoned in the country, and the other half subject to six years of permitting delays.
Italy’s energy transition minister Roberto Cingolani said the consequences of delays will be far-reaching.
“If we don’t get the permits, we’ll be late in reaching the goal of having 72 per cent of our electricity generated from renewables by 2030,” Cingolani told Reuters.
“So we won’t be able to press ahead with plans to replace furnaces, produce green hydrogen, and generate electricity for electric cars.”
Spending on the permitting process can run into tens of millions of euros, people in the industry say.
“We could invest more in certain countries in Europe if we had better visibility on the permitting timeline,” said Carlo Zorzoli, head of business development for the green power unit of Italy-based utility Enel SpA, which has the biggest capacity for renewable energy of any listed company worldwide. He declined to name the countries he was referring to.
Generally, wind industry groups say authorities are scrutinising projects more carefully, but permitting agencies have not been expanded enough: “The permitting agencies are often under-resourced and with the market growing faster than was ever expected it’s going to be hard for them to keep up,” said Iberdrola’s Cole.
The EU Commission is proposing one body be made responsible for coordinating permits of some offshore projects. But that proposal needs to be negotiated by EU countries and the European Parliament.
Rather than wait, Greece plans to hire certified private evaluators, the country’s energy ministry said in May.
“To appeal against the project at the court, we have collected money by talking to local residents, shopkeepers, hotels, farmers with environmental concerns, beekeepers,” said Mr Baltas.

Four municipalities on the island of Evia (Karystos
environmental and mountaineering associations are requesting the annulment of the decisions for the installation of a large number of wind farms for electricity generation within forest areas
The municipalities and associations described the installation of wind turbines as unconstitutional and illegal as they would also entail the felling of a large number of trees to open roads etc
The request was discussed on Thursday by the Council of State
The plaintiffs argued that the decisions of the Ministry of Environment and Energy
which approved the environmental conditions for the construction and operation of complexes of wind power plants
are unconstitutional and go against European legislation
They also noted that the installation of the wind turbines and the opening of many kilometers of roads are in areas designated as a “natural reserve.”
The Council of State’s decision is expected at the beginning of the new year

SAOS Ferries has suspended service for the Saonisos ferry after its captain was arrested following an incident at the port of Andros
The arrest came after a viral video showed a car attempting to board the ferry during gale-force winds on Thursday evening
described the ordeal: “The front of the ramp lifted while I was boarding
and you shouldn’t load vehicles under such weather conditions
especially if you can’t control the ship.”
“We were trying to get out to avoid falling into the sea
without ensuring the ship was properly secured.”
SAOS Ferries announced the captain’s “mandatory dismissal” and advised passengers to seek refunds at local agencies
with no further sailings until a new captain is appointed
The captain’s arrest was ordered by a prosecutor due to the unsafe handling of the departure

Greece has impounded a Russian oil tanker off the island of Evia
the Greek coastguard said on Tuesday (19 April)
as part of European Union sanctions imposed on Moscow over its invasion of Ukraine

was seized near Karystos on the southern coast of Evia [Twitter]
Initial assessments by experts and eyewitnesses indicate that the Canadair CL-215 might have struck a tree with its float
affecting its stability and leading to the tragic fall
The official report will be forthcoming in the next few days
Both pilots showed unwavering dedication to their duties
flying at low altitudes of about 10 to 15 meters above the ground while battling the fire
this left little room for survival when the aircraft encountered trouble
Captain Christos Moulas hailed from Chania
where his parents run a business in Gavalochori
with his wife in the early stages of pregnancy
The news of his untimely passing shook the community
and a traditional Strata event was held in Chania in their memory
Second Lieutenant Periklis Stefanidis dreamed of flying aeroplanes and grew up in Thessaloniki
He pursued his passion and served as a pilot in firefighting aircraft after graduating from Ikaron School
From the video footage that swiftly spread across all media channels
it became apparent that the aircraft released its water payload
it appears that the aircraft struck a branch
The impact resulted in the loss of the boundary layer
and initiated the fateful right turn with the pilot attempting to counteract the loss of support by applying full power to the engines
these efforts were in vain as the Canadair headed towards the ravine
The intense heat from the burning area affected the old reciprocating engines
sealing the tragic fate of the firefighting aircraft and its experienced pilots
shed light on the critical elements that contributed to the catastrophe
He emphasized that the presence of piston engines in the CL-215
unlike the more advanced turboprop engines found in the CL-415
Despite the CL-215’s remarkable service since 1975
boasting two classic Pratt & Whitney engines with 2,100 pounds of thrust
technological advancements have rendered them outdated
The design of the CL-215 dates back to the 1940s
and the aircraft saw its first delivery to the French Civil Protection Service in June 1969
and the aviation landscape has evolved significantly since
The sacrifice of these courageous pilots has garnered profound respect and condolences from political and military leaders
both within the country and internationally
The entire political and state leadership and foreign counterparts have expressed their support to the families of the fallen pilots
In honour of the two pilots and as a gesture of respect
the Ministry of National Defense has declared a three-day mourning period for the Armed Forces (from July 25 to 27
This tragic loss serves as a sombre reminder of the ongoing and relentless battle that Greek firefighting crews face as they courageously combat wildfires across the country
The wildfires raging on the islands of Rhodes
Corfu and several locations in mainland Greece caused the first human casualties Tuesday
Two Greek Air Force pilots died on the island of Evia when a Canadair CL-215 firefighting plane crashed near the town of Karystos shortly after 2 p.m.
who had left the Evia village of Platanistos Sunday
A state ERT TV video showed the bright yellow aircraft releasing its load of water before its wingtip apparently snagged in a tree branch
Moments later it disappeared into a deep fold in the ground from which a fireball erupted
“They offered their lives to save lives,” Mitsotakis said of the pilots
“They proved how hazardous their daily missions in extinguishing fires are … In their memory
we continue the war against the destructive forces of nature.”
The death of the two pilots was also commented on by officials and agencies abroad
“Our thoughts are with the families of the crew
their comrades and the Greek people,” tweeted French president Emmanuel Macron
Mitsotakis canceled a visit to Cyprus that was to start Wednesday
after talking with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides
who sent his condolences for the dead airmen
The fires in Rhodes and Corfu are the most dangerous
four villages had to be evacuated as the blazes advanced
whole or parts of six of Greece’s 13 regions have been placed at “extreme risk” of wildfires breaking out

Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports announced that three ancient quarries mining Karystos shale marble were discovered while wind parks were being installed by the ENEL and Silsio companies
in the greater area of the Karystos Municipality and the sites of Anatoli in the Kafireas region and at Trikorfo
under the supervision of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea island near Attica Prefecture and the Greek capital of Athens

an ancient shale marble quarry was unearthed
with two principal mining fronts faced by small areas covered with soil
The biggest mining front is close to the second one that is smaller in size and located at a higher spot to the north east of the first one
south east of the smaller mining front there are huge carved rectangular blocks in situ
While the greater quarry area was being archaeologically cleaned
two half finished columns were located in a clean layer of fine mining gravel

High on the rock two small mining fronts were situated along with some long box-shaped carvings on their floor
while only a few metres to the east a low pile of mining gravel was discovered
with the half-carved columns in situ (Photo 3 Source: Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports - Ephorate of Antiquities of Evia)
Ancient quarry of Trikorfo 2 (photo 3) The second ancient quarry of Trikorfo 2 was found to the north west of Trikorfo 1
The quarry’s principal space is much larger than that of the first quarry with three big
Three big gravel piles dominate the surrounding space
two to the east and one to the west of the main mining and quarrying area
whilalong with as well as other boulders partially worked on
bearing traces of carving and located on a downward slope to the south of the main mining area
most probably for their removal and transportation
On the ground of the quarry’s main area there are three half finished columns
and most probably more stone blocks that are not exceptionally visible being covered by considerable backfill and vegetation
In front of the main fronts lies a small circular construction for collecting water
covered with slate slabs for washing tools as well as for other uses
the discovery of these ancient quarries provides more information regarding the location of new sites for the mining of Karystos stone
showing the latter’s significance as a critical factor in the region’s economic activity from ancient times to the present day
Karystos (Greek: Κάρυστος) or Carystus is a small coastal town on the Greek island of Euboea
It has about 5,000 inhabitants (12,000 in the municipality)
From Athens it is accessible by ferry via Marmari from the port of Rafina
Its urban plan was laid out by the renowned Bavarian civil engineer Bierbach
near the site of the ancient city of Carystus
In ancient years the region of Karystos was renowned for its marble and the ancient quarries are found on the southern flanks of Mt Ochi
between the villages of Mekounida and Aetos
Strabo writes about the magnificent monolithic "Karystian columns"
The activity of marble extraction was so intensive that in Marmari
the main post for the export of Karystian marble
The intensive quarrying of marble was mainly done during the Roman period
the Karystian marble was well sought after in Rome
mainly for the construction of monolithic pillars
It was also used in the paving of floors and walls
Even today one can admire monolithic pillars made of Karystian marble in Hadrian's Library in Monastiraki
The most remarkable remains of ancient quarrying are found in ‘Kylindri'
several giant monolithic columns of about 12 m long - the ‘kylindri' as the locals call them
The most fascinating of all is the fact that there may be a possible link between the quarries and the dragon-houses of South Evia
the dragon-houses were temples dedicated to the patron of quarrymen Hercules
who would watch them from afar and give them the courage and the strength to continue their arduous labour
the possible fall of the Roman Empire in the 3rd century AD
lead to the withdrawal of the Romans from the area and the ceasing of the quarrying activities
many of these ancient quarries are still accessible and all that is required is a mild trek to reach them
Karystos apparently remained inhabited throughout the early Middle Ages
it was also seat of a bishop – a suffragan of Athens – at least since the reign of Leo VI the Wise (r
It was among the towns listed in the 1198 chrysobull of Alexios III Angelos
where the Venetians were permitted to establish trade stations
and soon it became the seat of the southern third (triarchy) of Euboea under Ravano dalle Carceri
with the construction of the castle of Castel Rosso (some 4 km from the modern town
at the modern village of Myloi) and the rise of piracy
that the town was moved from its coastal location to the inland around Castel Rosso
The town remained an episcopal see under Latin rule
with the Greek bishop remaining in office; in 1222 however it was merged with the Bishopric of Euripos (Chalcis)
In 1276/7 it was reconquered by the Byzantines under Licario and held until 1296
when it was recovered by Boniface of Verona
In 1318 it passed into Catalan hands as part of the dowry of Marulla of Verona for her marriage with Alfonso Fadrique
who already in 1339 offered to purchase it; negotiations dragged on until 1365
and only in 1366 did Karystos finally pass into Venetian control when Boniface Fadrique sold the barony to the Republic
After the conquest of Euboea by the Ottoman Empire in 1470
the local Orthodox see was reactivated as part of the Metropolis of Euripos
During the installation of wind parks in the greater area of the Karystos Municipality
Anatoli and Trikorfo in Marmari employees of ENEL and Silsio renewable energy companies discovered three ancient marble quarries
The coastal town of Karystos or Carystus has about 5,000 inhabitants and falls under the supervision of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea island
Karystos lies 129 km south of Chalkis and from Athens it is accessible by ferry via Marmari from the port of Rafina

The second ancient quarry of Trikorfo was found north west of the first one and is much larger in size
This is a very important discovery bound to shed light on the region’s marble extraction activity
for which it was renowned in ancient years
Karystos was renowned for its marble and the ancient quarries are found on the southern flanks of Mt Ochi
Strabo writes about the magnificent monolithic “Karystian columns”
Julius Ceasar and Augustus preferred Karystian marble for the construction of monolithic pillars in Rome
It was also used in the paving of floors and walls in temples and he Roman Agora
In Athens one can still admire the majestic Karystian monolithic pillars in Hadrian’s Library in Monastiraki and in ‘Kylindri’

Power prices fell substantially from the energy crisis peak, but even in combination with economic growth, energy consumption decreased last year in Greece, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA) reported
it presented a list of records and milestones in the market including the penetration of renewables
Renewable energy sources and large hydropower plants, calculated separately, accounted for 47.9% and 9.1% of production, respectively, according to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Independent Power Transmission Operator. The company is also known for its acronym IPTO or
Green Tank’s Mantzaris: The phenomenon is cementing the changes in behavior and giving hope
The combined 57% level, calculated for the January-November period, was an all-time high in modern history. It was attributed to investments in green energy and grid development. Moreover
the sector covered more than half of demand for the first time – 51.2%
The participation of fossil fuels in the energy balance has dropped and consumers are shifting to installations for self-consumption of electricity
Natural gas consumption fell 10.1% in 2023
Demand for electricity in the first eleven months was 2.9% lower than in the previous year
The phenomenon is cementing the changes in behavior and giving hope for a more decisive shift toward sustainability in the country’s energy sector
according to Green Tank’s energy policy analyst Nikos Mantzaris
The list of records and achievements goes on and on
Greece didn’t consume any coal power for 672 hours or 28 days
Coal production was the lowest since the 1970s
Fossil gas and lignite together contributed to power output with 19.2 TWh or 4.3 TWh under the previous low
An overall 19.2 TWh of electricity was generated from fossil gas and lignite in 2023 or 4.3 TWh under the previous low
In the first 11 months, the shares of lignite in electricity production (9.9%) and demand coverage (8.9%) landed below the 10% mark for the first time
renewables and large hydroelectric facilities surpassed natural gas and lignite
Emissions from electricity production tumbled 23% through November on an annual basis
They hit a record low of 13.25 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent
The figure includes oil-fired plants on non-interconnected islands
Prosumers, energy communities and other categories of producers of electricity for self-consumption had 421.3 MW installed at the end of December or almost twice as much as one year before
The level has roughly doubled every year since 2019
Consumption of oil derivatives came in at 7% under the 2022 reading
driven by a whopping 32% fall in demand for heating oil
the demand for gasoline and diesel grew by 4% and 3%
Last year was second best only to 2019 in additions
more than 850 MW was under construction or ready to build
More than 300 MW is expected to come online by the end of this year
One part was already put into operation in 2022
Iberdrola Rokas was third with 409 MW. Enel Green Power (368 MW) and TotalEnergies (250 MW) are in the top five

The outgoing PM and his wife celebrated their marriage with a festival-style Cotswolds bash, complete with food trucks, hay bales and another rented gown for Carrie
Meanwhile, back in Downing Street, removal vans have been spotted gathering the family’s possessions as the ‘transition’ to the next leader gets underway. New reports suggest the PM and his wife could be set to move to Dulwich Village, where they are said to be house-hunting with a rumoured £3 million budget.

Johnson succumbed to pressure to step down as Tory leader in the wake of controversies including Partygate and allegations of sexual assaulst against his former Deputy Chief Whip, Chris Pincher. There are now just two contenders remaining to fill his shoes in heading up both the party and the country: former Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
The trendy south-east London suburb is where Margaret Thatcher retreated to after she was ousted as prime minister
Conservative allies have stressed that the PM is not taking his eye off the ball during his holiday
Former Cabinet minister Brandon Lewis told LBC: ‘Even when you are not in the office in Downing Street you are working.’ A spokesman for Johnson added that he has no official engagements as he is ‘on holiday this week,’ but noted: ‘As is the way with Prime Ministers… by virtue of their role they’ll obviously be kept informed on any urgent issues… If there were urgent decisions that required the PM’s input he will of course be involved in that.’
All hat being said, the island of Evvia is certainly an idyllic escape. Ileana von Hirsch of Five Star Greece describes Karystos
as having ‘a cosmopolitan feeling with neoclassical buildings’
trendy restaurants and clubs for younger generations and a big harbour for yachts and fish boats.’ The city is home to architectural gems including the stunning mountain-top Castello Rosso
and the historic residence lived in by the Pasha of Ebie in the time of the Ottoman empire (now a flourishing vineyard and winery)
The natural landscape is just as impressive
while treks through the awe-inspiring Dimosari gorge are a major draw
Karystos is known for its exceptional cuisine, with nearby restaurant Geusiplous specialising braised goat risotto and freshly-caught local red snapper – a treat for gourmands and Prime Ministers alike. The chef at Geusiplous, Baxevanis, has earned quite the reputation, with the area becoming a favourite spot among retired French ex-pats (a nation that knows a thing or too about gastronomic excellence).

The crew members of both the tanker and the cargo ship involved in the collision under still unclear circumstances in the sea area of the Kafireas Strait, south of Karystos
The collision caused only minor material damage above the waterline
There was no water ingress or marine pollution
loaded with 131,941 metric tons of crude oil
had departed empty from a port in Italy with its destination set for the port of Constanța
Due to weather conditions and the unsafe approach to the port of Karystos
both ships are sailing independently towards the anchorage of Piraeus
where they are expected to be temporarily prohibited from departing in order to undergo inspections and obtain seaworthiness certificates from the supervising classification societies
